# Stick around*
Time couldn't be moving slower for Casey Cook than it had been this Wednesday. It was 15 minutes till the bell rang, 15 minutes of pure boredom. She looked down at her test paper. It was half unfinished. Casey lost hope of ever getting to its end half an hour ago. In case you haven't caught up on it, Casey wasn't the brightest crayon in the box.
She used the remaining time to admire her highschool crush, Lio Hill. The damn nerd was kicking back in his chair, his test paper obviously filled in with all the right answers. His glasses hung off the ridge of his nose, and his eyes closed as if feigning death. His long black hair, usually covering most of his face was now hanging back, revealing his face.
He was cute. And unfortunately too antisocial for someone like Casey. She was ranked number 1 hottest girl in class 1-B, and probably in all of junior year. Unfortunately her looks didn't have any affect on her brains. She was dumber than a stack of hay. The test being exhibit A.
"Ding Ding Ding"
The bell! Casey thought she was going to die of old age before the bell would ring. As she was putting her utensils away her friend Mikami jumped her from behind. "Sooooooo? How was it?"
"I only finished half the test, then gave up." Casey blew out a long breath of air.
"Seems like the best you can just isn't good enough in this situation." Mikami pouted.
"How did you do?" Casey asked.
"I think I got most of it right. There was question 36 though~~~" Mikami went on.
As she prattled on and on about how she couldn't decide which option was right Casey stole a glance at Lio. He was already handing his test to the teacher, a look of cold indifference on his face.
"Ah, Lio. Aced the test as usual, I am to presume?" Mr. Jial asked.
"I had trouble on question 62." Lio spoke quietly, then left the room.
"I think we'd better get our butts to class," Mikami said. "Hellloooo? Earth to Casey. Come in Casey."

Casey was too tired to go on. It's been a week since finals and the progress reports came today. The dreaded time has come. She would have to face her parents, and the prospect of being held back a year. Final week of school and Casey had just got off the bus home, hoping against hope that her parents haven't checked the mail before she got home. Her hopes were dashed when she saw the red flag post that signals the mail already in the turned down position.
She walked into the house. Her mother was sitting in the kitchen with her progress report in front of her, looking very dismayed indeed. Casey knew how this conversation would go. It's happened twice already, during her freshman and sophomore years. She was a dunce. She would lose her head if it wasn't attached to her shoulders. And the worst part. She would need remedial lessons in the summer to move on to the next year. Again.
Casey sighed. "Spare me the theatrics. How bad is it?"
Casey's mom just looked at her with depression written all over her face. "Bad. Worse than last year."
'Dammit. Why is it always worse than last year?'
"How many weeks remedial?" Casey whined. "No remedial. Not this time. " her mother replied. Casey got scared. "It can't be that bad, right? "
"No, it's not that bad. I've discussed this with your teacher. They're willing to give you a second chance. You can retake the test in the middle of the summer. Until then you'll have a private tutor. "
"A private tutor? I hope he's cute. "
Casey's mother just rolled her eyes. You'll start a week after term ends. You'll be tutored for half the summer, then retake the test."
Casey breathed an inward sigh of relief. At least no remedials. "And if I don't pass the retake?"
You'll be held back a year.
Casey's jaw dropped. "That's impossible! they can't just leave me behind like that!"
"Don't worry about it. They say your tutor has top marks in the class. You'll be fine."
~~~
Term ended shortly after that, and Mikami couldn't stop talking about the trip to the mall she and everyone(except Casey) would be taking. "I heard the new R clothing shop is finally open! They'll have all the seasons latest trends!"
"Yeah, yeah, life in paradise. Meanwhile Casey Cook goes to remedial hell." She growled.
"Don't worry about it. What if the tutor is cute?"
"Hard to imagine. " Casey fell into full on depression.
Whatever. She just wanted to get this first half of summer over with.
"So I'll be going to get ready for the trip!" Mikami said through the phone. "See ya."
Casey threw her own phone on the bed and packed her studying materials. 5 minutes later she heard the horn of her Moms car honk outside the house. She crept down the stairs and opened the front door. Her moms minivan was parked in the driveway. She closed the door behind her, locked it with a key, and got into the car.
10 minutes later they arrived at a small 2 story house just like their own, but painted blue. "Well, here's your stop. " her Mom said. "Thanks mom. See you after 4?"
"Yes dear. Don't forget your manners. "
Casey slide the minivan door closed and walked up the porch of the house. She rang the doorbell. A few minutes later she heard shuffling behind the door. It opened. There, standing in front of her was none other than Lio Hill.
Casey's heart exploded.
