The only thing I came up with is the OC Autumn and her backstory. Nothing else.
-Autumn's P.O.V.-
He's here, again. He won't stop until he finds me and finishes the job. I run as fast as I can through the woods, but don't know where to go. I can't trust anyone, they could be working for him. He killed the only people I trusted already, Ash and Delia. They took me in and took care of me the first time I truly escaped him, "You can't hide forever," He called out.
I hid inside a hollow tree while hugging Riolu tightly to my chest, "If we stay quiet, he shouldn't find us," I whispered to Riolu, but mainly to myself.
Riolu just put it's paws on my mouth when I saw his boots right outside the little alcove we were in. They disappeared a moment later only for his face to appear with a sick grin, "There you are," I screamed.
"Autumn! Wake up!" My eyes shot open to see someone hovering over me and I did the only reasonable thing. I punched them in the face, "Ow!" The figure backed off to show Ash, my sort of adopted brother.
I quickly got out of bed and examined his face, "I'm sorry. Are you alright?"
"I'm fine," He waved off the concern even as Pikachu continued to examine his face, "I should know better then to do that anyway."
"At least you won't bruise," I assured him, my red-brown eyes looking at where I had punched him.
He didn't smile, but instead went to the reason he was in my room, "Another nightmare?"
I looked down, sitting on my bed, "Yeah," Riolu, my Pokemon partner, climbed onto my lap.
Ash sat next to me, "Was it different this time?" I shook my head, "I'm sorry."
"You've been through worse," I pointed out. In every region he's traveled through he's had to face Legendary and Mythical Pokemon because they were mad at something or someone and I was there for all of them, "Besides, this shouldn't affect me any more."
"Just because you think it shouldn't doesn't mean that you're over it," Ash pulled me into a side hug, "What happened was awful and you've come a long way. Remember, you just have to take your time."
"I feel like every time I go outside something happens that brings it all back," I admitted, "I want to be able to touch people like you and Delia."
"Coming to visit me right as a world ending situation happened didn't help," Ash admitted as I smiled slightly, "But you can actually be around people now. I think that's come a long way."
We both smiled as we remembered my first few months here. I was mainly in my room, terrified of everyone, but Ash didn't give up. Somehow, we became like siblings. Taking care of each other and helping each other whenever we could. After a minute or two of nothing being said, I finally pulled out of his hug, "We should be getting back to bed. We're going to Alola tomorrow, remember?"
Ash's eyes went wide, "I still haven't packed!"
"I packed for you," He was visiting his Pokemon at Professor Oak's lab with Delia when I packed his bag for him. They came back with a Pokemon Egg that we were going to drop off for Professor Oak to his cousin, "Since you had to tell all your Pokemon what we were doing I did it for you so you wouldn't have to worry about it."
"Thanks," He sighed in relief, then turned a bit more serious, "Are you sure you're ready to go to sleep? If not we can sneak downstairs and watch a movie with some hot chocolate."
"I'll be alright," I brought Riolu to my chest, cuddling it more, "I've got Riolu with me."
"Alright," He took Pikachu off his shoulder and carried him back to their room, "Goodnight."
"Night," He closed the door behind him as I laid back down, "Do you think I'll be alright Riolu?" I asked her, "Going to Alola?"
"Why not? We're just going on vacation," Riolu answered, "If it gets to be too much then we can always go hide in the hotel."
"Thanks Riolu," I hugged her a bit tighter for a moment, "I'm glad I found you."
"Me too," We kept talking about everything that's happened in our lives. I was actually running from my father when I found Riolu being hurt by a Pokemon poacher. Somehow, I was able to save her and get her to a Pokemon Center. Once she was healed, she decided to stay with me, but she was also wary of humans, just not as much as I was. We got through our fear together, but Riolu chose to protect me whenever I needed it.
The next morning, Delia woke us up and we were both still tired from our midnight conversation. I put my red-orange hair in a braid, then pulled that into a bun on the left side of my head, but it was still in the back. My bangs were swept to the right side of my face and hid that eye from view. I put on a brown shirt with a dark red mini jacket since my shirt didn't have any sleeves. I put on a dark red skort that had a flowy skirt and a brown ribbon around my waist to act like a belt and it could somehow hold Pokeballs, "If you need a break just tell us," Delia told me as we entered the airport.
I just gripped Riolu a bit tighter and made sure Ash and Delia were on either side of me. Luckily, we were able to get to Alola without a problem and even check into the hotel. The problem started when Ash ran after a Pokemon we've never seen before, "Ash! Wait up!" I called as I ran after him and Pikachu, Riolu still in my arms. I only caught up to him when he was with others, "Ash!" I climbed over the fence and walked towards them, "Why did you run off? We're supposed to be sticking together."
Ash just smiled, "I saw a Pokemon I've never seen before! Then I got lost and ended up here."
I just sighed, "Who are you?" I turned and backed away from a green haired girl, "Sorry, didn't mean to scare you."
"It's alright," My grip on Riolu tightened a bit more, "I'm Autumn. I came here with Ash and his mother Delia on vacation."
"I'm Mallow!" She stuck her hand out towards us, "And this is Lana, Lillie and Sophocles."
Ash enthusiastically shook her hand, "It's great to meet you," I just smiled at them, relaxing slightly, "Do you know where the Pokemon School is by any chance?"
"This is the Pokemon School," Mallow gestured around us, "I guess you both must have gotten lost."
"I guess," Ash answered, a smile never leaving his face.
Mallow walked towards us and grabbed Ash's wrist, "I'll show you around," She started dragging him away.
"Really?" I quickly followed after them, hoping Ash didn't get into trouble again.
"Come on, this way."
Ash chuckled, "Hey, you don't have to pull so hard," We ended up going where we needed to, but not before Ash fell in love with the place.
I fell in love with it as well, but it was much less obvious, "Ash! Autumn!" Delia answered the door to the Principal's office, "You finally made it."
Ash was definitely shocked, "It's my Mom!"
"Glad you could join us."
A man who looked a lot like Professor Oak walked out behind her, "Alola, Ash, Autumn!" He waved, "Welcome to the Pokemon School, home of Solrock and roll!"
"Professor Oak, what are you doing here?" Ash asked.
I smiled, "This is Professor Oak's cousin," I explained as Principle Oak chuckled, "Samson Oak."
"People tell me we look alike," Principle Oak said, "But I guess some people are able to see the difference."
"He's the Pokemon School Principal," Mallow explained.
"Nice to meet chew!" He said, definitely liking puns.
"Nice to meet you too," Ash and I said uncertainly.
His face and hands were a bit weird, "He always makes jokes, playing around with Pokemon names," Mallow explained once more.
"We all need a little fun," Principle Oak said, stopping messing with Mimmy to face us, "A little dose of levity and laughter is what my rant is for!"
We gave him fake laughs at his awful pun, but followed him into his office where Ash explained how he got here, "After we chased after Charizard, we kind of just wound up here."
"I just tried to follow you to make sure you weren't getting into any trouble," I explained after seeing Delia's face, knowing she wanted to know how we both ended up here.
Mallow smiled, "I guess neither of you are new students after all," She was sitting on the couch opposite of us as all our Pokemon played behind her.
"I guess I never really got a chance to explain," Ash rubbed the back of his neck.
"It's my fault," Mallow reassured, "I'm in such a hurry all the time, I can miss things."
"Hey Samuel!" Principle Oak interrupted us, "It's me! I got your Egg safe and sound!"
Professor Oak appeared on the TV a second later, "Excellent, Samson! That's what I like to hear. Thanks to you, Delia."
"It's my greatest pleasure," Delia answered.
"Hey, Principle Oak sir," Mallow asked, "Can I show Autumn and Ash around the campus?"
"Ah!" Both of our eyes became stars, wanting to see a lot more of the campus.
"Of course!" Principle Oak answered, "Porygon your way."
Mallow didn't even let him finish before she stood up, "Ready to go you two?"
Ash jumped up enthusiastically, "Yeah!" He cried out.
I held back my enthusiasm, "Of course! Lead the way!" The first place she took us was to her classroom.
"Now this is our classroom," Mallow showed us.
"Woah," Ash wasted no time in looking around, Riolu and I quickly joined him.
"It's like you're outside!" I proclaimed as I ran to the railing, "This is amazing!"
"This is so nice!" Ash closed his eyes, but I couldn't tell if he was talking about the classroom or about me liking being outside.
Mallow, who caught on that I was wary around humans, walked up to us and stood next to Ash, "And that's not all! There's the field where you met Tauros and there's the lake and the campus is huge and we learn all sorts of amazing things!"
I was already wanting to come here, but didn't want to be around so many people, "Hi!" We turned to see a man in a lab coat, but no shirt, "A big Alola to you all!"
"Professor Kukui!" Mallow smiled.
"Professor?" Ash asked. I was a bit confused as well. He didn't really look like he would be a professor.
"Yeah," Mallow explained again, "He's our teacher! Professor! I'd like you to meet Ash and Autumn!"
"Principle Oak just filled me in," He was standing right in front of us now and I had a white knuckled grip on Ash's arm, "Hi, Ash, Autumn, Pikachu, Riolu. The Pokemon School is a wonderful place! I hope you enjoy your visit here!"
"Thank you!" Ash smiled, pretending like my grip didn't hurt.
Pikachu was beaming, "We will!"
Riolu had different thoughts as she jumped out of my arms and looked ready to attack Professor Kukui, "Back away!" She yelled.
Professor Kukui quickly got the message and backed away as I picked her up, "Sorry, Riolu knows I'm nervous around people and does her best to protect me. But," I looked at Riolu, "I've told you multiple times that you can't hit anyone with a move."
"I didn't hit him!" Riolu defended, "I just threatened him!"
"You can't threaten people with moves either," Ash looked like he was about to burst with laughter as Mallow and Professor Kukui looked at me in shock.
"Did you understand what Riolu said?" Professor Kukui asked.
I nodded as Ash explained, "She's able to talk to Pokemon! It's really awesome!" We were interrupted by a Charizard's roar outside.
Ash quickly looked outside, "Huh? Who are they?"
"They're challenging that guy to a Pokemon Battle even when they don't want to," I answered.
Ash didn't waste another second and started running towards them. I quickly followed as we stopped by the gate where the other people we've met were at, "Who are those guys?"
"They're part of Team Skull," Mallow answered, "Always bullying us into a Pokemon Battle. Not nice."
I held Ash back for a moment, "Don't beat them too hard alright?" I asked.
He smiled and ran out there as I stepped away from the others, "Stop it!" He slid to a stop next to the guy.
"Those guys are really dangerous Ash!" Mallow called out worriedly.
I smiled, "Ash's got this," I said, not worried at all, "These guys won't be a problem."
Everyone looked at me shocked, but their attention was quickly brought to the battle. Kiawe and Ash won by a landslide. Especially when Kiawe did a weird move with Turtonador, "The zenith… of my mind… of body… and spirit, like the great mountain of Akala! Become a raging fire and burn! Inferno Overdrive!" And all the Pokemon on the other side were wiped out.
"What was that?" Ash and I asked.
"A Z-Move," Professor Kukui answered as we joined Kiawe and Ash.
"Z-Move?" I've never heard of Z-Moves before.
"Right."
"That's our Kiawe!" Sophocles stated.
"You were great too, Ash!" Mallow added.
I put a hand over my mouth to quieten my chuckles. Ash was always embarrassed whenever anyone praised him. Luckily, Professor Kukui explained more about Z-Moves, "Z-Moves are special moves passed down in the Alola region. Alola consists of four Islands," I could see him as a teacher now, "And each island has its own Guardian Pokemon. Only those who participate in a ceremony called the island challenge are able to use Z-Moves."
"Wow!" Ash was definitely going to want to stay here, "Island guardians, island challenge and Z-Moves, too!
Professor Kukui stopped him before he got too carried away, "Now that was a real Mega Punch level battle!" Kiawe agreed with him, "Say Ash, you seem to enjoy a good battle."
"Yeah!" Ash turned to face Kukui, "I want to be a Pokemon Master!"
"He's also participated in multiple leagues around the world," I added.
"Oh, I see," I felt like Professor Kukui was planning something.
Then I felt something hit me in the back and I turned to see a pink and black Pokemon, "Who's that Pokemon?" Ash and I asked at the same time, then looked at each other, "You saw it too?"
The others were confused, "Pokemon?" Sophocles asked.
"But where?" Lana asked.
"I don't see anything," Mallow finished.
"It was just there! It was a Pokemon for sure!" Ash started to explain, "It was yellow, about this big, with an orange crest on its head!" That wasn't the Pokemon I saw.
I frowned, "I saw a pink and black Pokemon with white markings on it," I explained what I saw.
The others were shocked, "That sounds like-" Professor Kukui started.
Kiawe finished the thought for him, "Tapu Koko and Tapu Lele."
"You saw Tapu Koko and Tapu Lele?" Lillie asked, "Guardians of Melemele and Akala Islands?"
"Wow, guardian?" Ash didn't sound nearly as concerned as he should be, "That's what that was?"
"Why would we see two different guardians?" I asked, "Why wasn't it the same one?"
"It probably didn't mean anything," Sophocles pointed out, "They're rarely seen and you two could have just seen them while they were flying by."
"That's probably it," I nodded, agreeing. That's when I noticed how close everyone was.
I yelped and backed away, hoping to create a bit of distance between us, but ended up tripping on a rock, "Are you alright?" Kiawe asked as he and Ash walked towards me.
I nodded and quickly stood up, "I'm fine. I'll meet you back at the hotel Ash," Then I was running back to the hotel, needing some time away from others. Riolu ran right behind me and I knew they would wonder why I did that.
When we reached the hotel, I laid down in bed and resisted the urge to cry, "I'm sorry," Riolu apologized as she laid next to me, "I didn't realize how close they were."
"It's not your fault Riolu," I assured her, pulling her into a hug, "They seem like nice people, but…"
"Looks can be deceiving," Riolu finished. That was something we learned early in our lives.
I was forced out of the room at dinner time when Delia took us to a restaurant. Ash was most likely thinking about the Pokemon School all throughout dinner, "Anything interesting happen today?" Delia asked him, "You seem a little distracted this evening."
"Thinking about the Pokemon School?" I asked.
He nodded, "It was amazing! I've never seen anything like it!" Then he ran off when a Pokemon flew by, "That's it!"
"Where are you going? Pikachu?" Delia asked.
I stood up, "I'll go make sure he doesn't get lost."
"Thank you Autumn," Delia smiled, "I'll meet you two in our room."
I nodded, then ran off, Riolu following me while trying to find out where they went. Instead of finding them, we found the Pokemon we saw before, "Tapu Lele," I breathed, "What are you doing here?"
"A gift," Tapu Lele answered as a silver bracelet gently floated down to me, "For you."
I blinked, "For me?" I gently grabbed it, "Why?"
"You will do great things," Tapu Lele answered as it started to fly away, "But you need the right things to grow into who you are meant to be," Then she was gone.
I looked at the bracelet and realized that it was a Z-Ring with a steel type Z-Crystal in it, "Is this what it feels like to be Ash?" I asked Riolu, making her laugh.
I smiled and finally put the Z-Ring on, which made it glow a bit for some reason, but it died down pretty quickly, "I think we need to stay here," Riolu told me as her laughs died down.
"I'll ask Delia if I can," I answered as I started looking around again, "But for now, we need to find Ash."
"Why are you looking for me?" He asked right behind me.
I nearly kicked him in the stomach, but held myself back, "Delia's waiting for us back at the hotel. Did you get that Z-Ring from Tapu Koko?" I asked.
He brought his wrist up to show an Electrium z in his, "Yep! I don't know why though."
I showed him mine, "I got one from Tapu Lele," His eyes widened as I started dragging him towards the hotel. When I felt him move on his own, I asked, "Do you want to stay here?"
"Yeah," He came right next to me and started walking in circles around me, "I wanna go to the Pokemon School and learn more! I'm also going to do the island challenges!"
"Where are you going to stay?"
"I haven't thought that far ahead."
"Of course you haven't," Pikachu pointed out.
Riolu quickly hopped onto my shoulder so she could talk to Pikakchu, "Autumn wants to stay here as well!" She told him excitedly, "And I'm hoping we'll be able to."
"Really?!" Riolu nodded, "We can have an adventure together!" Pikachu cried out excitedly.
Ash frowned, "What are they talking about?"
"Nothing," I walked a bit faster as we entered the hotel and got to our room, "We're back."
"I was starting to worry," Delia stood from the bed she had been sitting on and gave both of us a hug, "Are you two still hungry?"
Before Ash could answer with a yes, I asked, "Could we stay here?" All eyes were on me, "Ash wants to stay here and I was wondering if… I could join him."
Ash was the first to snap out of his shock and tackled me in a hug, "We can travel the region together and go to the Pokemon School together as well!" He picked me up and started jumping in a circle, "We're going to have so much fun!"
When he finally put me down, he ran into the room and quickly finished his food, "Delia, are you ok with me staying here?" I asked her nervously.
Delia finally smiled, "You can stay here, but we have to arrange it so you two will be staying with someone, alright? I don't want you two to just camp in the forest while you're here."
I finally smiled and gave her a hug, "Thank you Delia."
"You're welcome," I felt her hug me back for a moment, then I was pushed towards the bathroom, "Now, if you two are planing on staying here then you're going to need to get plenty of rest tonight. We have a lot of things to figure out before it becomes official."
The next day, Ash and I went to the Pokemon school first thing in the morning to see if we could join, "Alola," Professor Kukui said as he met us by the gate.
"Alola," Ash and I respond.
"Are you here to look around more?"
"Actually," Ash asked, "Do you know if we could join?"
"We want to stay in Alola, but we need to find a place to stay and to see if it would be alright if we can become students here," I explained.
Professor Kukui smiled, "I'm sure you'll be able to register as new student's here. We're always looking for more kids who want to learn."
"Really?" Ash asked, excitedly as Kukui nodded, "Alright! What do you need to do?"
"First you're going to need a place to stay," Kukui answered and Ash deflated, "And someone to look out for you."
"I guess we're not going to be able to stay," I frowned, really hoping that we would have been able to stay.
Professor Kukui smiled, "If you want you can stay with me," Ash and my eyes widened, "I have two bedrooms that aren't being used and it's not too far away from the school."
"Really?" Ash asked, once more looking excited.
I smiled at how fast Ash's emotions could change in a situation like this, "You two could use them if you'd like, but you're going to need Delia's permission."
"Thank you Professor!" I beamed, "Could you tell me your address? Then we can come by later with Delia and finish everything else."
"Of course, just make sure you come after an hour. There are some things I need to do first," He handed me a slip of paper.
I took it and smiled, "Thank you, again."
Then I was being dragged towards the school, "Come on Autumn! We need to sign up!"
It was actually really easy and soon, we were ready to start going Monday. We even got assigned to Professor Kukui's class! Before I knew it, we were at Professor Kukui's house with Delia, "Are you willing to take care of Autumn and Ash?" Delia asked almost as soon as the door opened.
Kukui smiled and stepped out of the way, allowing us to enter the living room, "I've housed students before and will make sure they don't get into too much trouble."
Delia smiled, "I'm not too worried about that. Where would their rooms be?"
"Right here," And they were gone.
"Delia's going to interrogate him, isn't she?" I asked Ash.
Ash just smiled, "Probably. But we're going to take care of each other! This is going to be so much fun!"
I smiled as they disappeared into the bedroom on the first floor, "How do you think this will compare to your other journeys?"
"It's going to be just as awesome and amazing as the others!" Ash proclaimed, "And we'll do it together!"
Somehow, Professor Kukui convinced Delia to let us stay here and she and Mimmy left for the plane back soon after, "Alright, who wants the loft-" Kukui was interrupted by Ash, who was already up in the loft.
"This is awesome!" He cried out and looked down, "Could I sleep up here?"
Kukui nodded and Ash disappeared once again as I chuckled, "He gets super excited about new things," I explained.
Kukui smiled, "I can tell," Then he turned serious, "Delia told me about your fear, so whenever you're uncomfortable with something, just tell me, alright?"
"I will," My smile became a bit more forced, "But Riolu's kind of made it her job to protect me."
"Ok, now you two should be getting some sleep," He said loud enough for Ash to hear, "It's getting late."
"Yeah!" I heard Ash cheer as I walked into the bedroom I would be using.
It was a simple room with a twin sized bed, a dresser, closet and a bookshelf already filled with books, "What do you think Riolu?" I asked as I started putting my things away.
"I love it!" Riolu started jumping on the bed, "We should have come here long ago!"
I chuckled and quickly got ready for bed. That night, for the first time I could ever remember, I didn't get a single nightmare.
