Cole knew activating the ray field inhibitor was a gamble that if it succeeded it would take down the beast and most likely kill him or at the very least gravely wound him and make him a normal human again. So he took a deep breath and activated it, as he held the RFI he felt his powers kicking in trying to absorb as much of this energy as he could but it was all for not because as this energy passed through him he felt nothing but pain.
He smiled thinking about the fact that at least he was finally doing something to make up for things he did even though he tried his best to be a hero and to do right by Trish at least he might see her soon. As his body felt one last explosion of pain blue lightning filled his vision and he passed out.
When Cole opened his eyes next he was in an area of white and finally felt at peace. He spoke out loud 'that was a fun ride'. He heard a slight giggle at that and turned around and seen Trish in all her glory full of life again and had wings she had a smile on her face and looked great. cole s eyes filled with tears before he spoke 'I am so sorry I should have thought more before going on my crazy crusade that caused you and others to die'.
Trish lowered herself to the ground and spoke 'i was watching you this whole time and while I don't always agree with your methods I am proud that in the end that you were able to save everyone you could and that even includes that goofball, Zeke. but that's not the main reason that the big man upstairs sent me here. Cole wiped his tears off before speaking 'wait so you are telling me that he sat idly by while that beast that was created ravaged the world. Why didn't he stop it.'
Trish made a hard to read expression before saying 'for some reason when he created humans and gave them free will he made it so he couldn't interfere unless humanity was more than 80 percent doomed and I guess his way of fixing humanity was shouldering the blame on those who created the blast in the first place which he says he now regrets. Because he apparently did not foresee any heroes rising up to save people and when he did see that happening he realized that the only way to fix it was to do a clean sweep of all the superhumans.
Trish continued but apparently, when you activated RFI it wasn't supposed to all be absorbed into you and blast you to where you ended up. Cole slowly took in what he heard before saying 'wait where I am now what do you mean' Trish smiled again before speaking 'apparently
Blasted you through a hole through time and space and sent you to an alternate earth a universe he doesn't have control over the only thing he can control is his creations and he regretted that in order for you to survive you would of had to go through mind-shattering pain so he did the only thing he could which was bring your soul here till your body arrives in the alternate earth.
So that you could heal yourself when you arrive like you always did before. Cole responded wait so that means I am alive. I'm just here to be spared some pain and then when I wake up ill be forced to live with the fact that I have to live whatever life I can make without you. Trish responded still smiling, 'Cole we all know life has its way of throwing things at you that you don't want but you deserve to live a life that you want to live and not have to worry about being experimented on unwillingly and called an evil man despite being willing to die to save the world it really pisses me off that after all that hard work you did to change that you just want to lay down to be with me when you could still help people.
The big man upstairs just told me about the information he found by wondering in his ghostly form and it's evident that this world needs help just like our last one. Just promise me something cole that you will at least try to continue to make me proud when you wake up and to try to become happy again. Cole knew seeing that smile was going to make him agree to whatever she wanted and she knew that too which made Cole laugh.
Cole looked up at Trish before smiling and speaking "I promise to make you proud and live a life worth living". Trish walked over to Cole and placed her hand on his heard before saying don't forget I'm right here when you need me. The blue light surrounded cole again and he woke up I some dark alley that smelled like someone pissed themselves and when he looked down at himself he was naked ' fuck my clothes exploded shit' how am I supposed to walk around where I am without getting arrested instantly.
As if fate smiled upon him a man came into the alley with another man cole quickly hide behind a dumpster and after a few minutes he heard them talking about drugs and the fact that he was selling them that was until the oterman indicated he was going to buy a lot of drugs that's when cole heard the cock of a gun followed by demanding of all the money the buyer had on him.
That's, when cole went into action and used, hid powers to taser the man with a charge large enough that knocked the man out. The buyer looked at cole before noticing that he was naked for whatever reason Cole spoke first "look man I have had a really tough day and I'm not in the mood to be jerked around with you maybe grabbing the gun and trying to shoot me. So do me a favor and don't try it just go call the cops and don't ask any questions.
The man looked around before sprinting out of the alley. Cole approached the man on the ground and took his hoodie followed by his pants wallet and phone leaving the man in only boxers and a T-shirt cole spoke while putting the clothes on " look dude I'm sorry about this but maybe you should put this toward a lesson in doing bad thing turn your life around starting today or else a naked guy might knock you out and take your shit.
As cole finished putting the clothes on he took a look at the man's drivers license to gage a location and take his money before throwing the wallet back on him Brockton bay new Hampshire 'huh never heard of it must be a part of the new alternate earth thing the man had about 2 grand on him enough for cole to eat on for a while if he went back to college eating. The only thing that didn't fit cole was the man's shoes. They were way too small the rest did ride up on him a bit but now with this money he could probably hit up a thrift store.
Cole left the alley fairly quickly after that remembering to take the crook's gun to not sure what to do with it he decided to throw it in the water because he was close to what looked to be docks. cole move through town with bare feet which was a real shame even with advanced healing it was still annoying to pick glass out of his feet every 15 minutes soon enough he made it to an area that looked like downtown and found a fast food place the only thing that sucked about being a conduit is that he burned calories so fat needed to eat something like 8 pizzas a day to fulfill himself.
To be honest it was really annoying financially but it was ok for now this money should survive him for at least 2 months if he is careful. But Cole also knew that meant staying in some sort of homeless shelter which did not sound amazing and would mean being judged actively. So that meant he needed to find a job but that also meant dealing with the no trace of his existence issue and he wasn't sure how he was going to deal with that.
Cole figured that meant it was time for research but he needed to be presentable before entering any library or internet cafe. He needed to find a store and because he was downtown it was relatively easy to find a thrift store. When cole walked in he was given weird looks probably because of his lack of shoes and the burnt smell he had about him.
After a few minutes of looking around, he found that they sold lots more than clothes they sold just about everything he needed besides a house or food, and apparently, all profits went toward a group supporting a law enforcement group called the prt there even was a poster that said 'support your local prt and help the strongest defend the weakest notify the prt if have any sort of power that may be a benefit to humanity '.
Cole smirked a job helping others where I get paid to help out could be an option Cole said to himself. After about 10 minutes Cole had an over-the-shoulder duffle bag a metal conductive baseball bat 5 shirts pants underwear socks and 2 pairs of shoes and a leather jacket to help a little bit to act as armor.
He also had found a mountain bike for 97 dollars that was tempting to buy because he couldn't use the power lines to get around without causing a panic so the bike was good enough for the moment. As he took his new clothes, bike and bat, and duffle bag to the counter the clerk looked at him kinda funny before Cole pulled his money out then quickly kept a straight face before speaking that will be 3 hundred and 16 dollars and 48 cents cole smiled while handing the clerk the money while putting on his new socks and shoes.
Before speaking 'it must be an odd sight seeing a man with no shoes come in and buy so much' the clerk laughed before saying at this point I find it easier to not ask questions' Cole responded while lacing up his shoes ' well to help sate your curiosity my apartment caught on fire last night so I lost all my clothes except what I could grab on my way out the clerk responded that sounds like it sucks if you need to there is a homeless shelter on king street near the docks" cole responded thank you I'll definitely look into it
