Blood soaked the muddy ground. Cries of the dying echoed. Time felt slow. Slower than it should have. Bodies lay below their paws motionless, and their empty stares uneased the traveling cats.
"Hurry up," commanded Ivystar, trying to hide the concern and worry in her voice. "Snakestar's cats are closing in."
Moonlight lit the forest, though it was useless compared to the cat's eyesight. Bodies of various colors pushed through the dense forest with the command, and only their fawn leader fell behind the rushing cats. The others didn't see their leader get behind, and a large gap between the cats and the tabby formed. Silence in the dark forest. Ivystar leaned against a tree and looked at her stumps of legs.
"You can climb like ivy but run like an injured cat... What's wrong with you, Ivystar?"
Ivystar turned towards the trees after hearing that voice. A terrible time for a terrible voice. Squeezing between two trees, a black and white maine coon cackled. His fur contained red spots from the bloodshed.
"Ello, Ivystar. Today's some nice weather, innit?" he watched Ivystar arch her back and grow.
"At least they're safe from your forces!" She lauched herself towards the cat, only for him to dodge and return a successful blow to her side. Blood spilled from her torn flank and claws sliced into her stomach skin, catching her off-guard with pain.
"It's sad you're on your last life..." Snakestar licked the blood from his lips, "you never were a good fighter, yet you never trained yourself. We're in war, and you refused to prepare. Sad, isn't it?"
Death. It was all that tingled around her body. The red liquid flooded out as more wounds were opened, and she could only watch in horror as the opposing cat removed a couple of her insides.
"I have to move! Can't let my clan guide themselves, afterall!" He shouted happily, as if a favor was done instead of murder.
Closing her eyes, everything turned black. She could only hear the disappearence of Snakestar, but another cat neared. Sadness followed its approch, but who?
