This is the offering to Kadam Week 2016 prompt 2: Hair Dye/Hair Style
Many men in Kurt's life had tried, and mostly failed, to touch or play with Kurt's hair throughout his life.
The first one had been Burt, Kurt wasn't even four at the time he started squirming his way out of the loving head petting, citing in a perfectly serious voice "I don't want to get no hair like you when I grow up, so you cannot keep patting it or it won't grow."
Kurt's mom found that hilarious. Burt easily accepted the request, and started patting Kurt's shoulders instead.
The second man in Kurt's life to attempt, with disastrous results, had been Finn.
Most of his attempts were after they all lived together, it started with trying to remove a feather from a pillow fight in the New York's hotel during Nationals.
It continued in many supposedly sneaking attempts to test out how serious Kurt was in his threats of "Finn Hudmel you try putting your sticky dirty fingers on my hair and I promise you'll regret it."
Turned out Kurt had been pretty serious and after almost managing to touch the hair during movie night one time Finn found his clothes becoming suddenly itching, especially his boxers.
It all stopped when he dropped the issue and conceded the point that Kurt's hair is not to be touched.
On some days Kurt wondered if he shouldn't just consider Finn as an overgrown puppy instead of a boy... Adam, who had lots of experience in that field, laughing said to his boyfriend that Finn's simply normal sibling behaviour, so using brother was a simple and encompassing enough descriptive...
Blaine was the third who attempt something of the sort. Especially while drunk and trying to be spontaneous and fun.
Kurt managed to reason that if they could set up a schedule to make out, then they could also set up the rule that Blaine could not expect to grab Kurt's hair while he kept his permanently and impenetrably glued to his head.
Apparently the only boundary Blaine would observe was one in which he would be forced to choose between easy out on the gel or obtaining what he said he wanted...
Maybe it should have told Kurt something was wrong, in his supposedly teenage dream relationship, when his then boyfriend preferred to keep using tons of hair gel instead of running his finger through Kurt's soft hair.
After Blaine had been the one insisting on wanting to do it...
Chase had been the fourth overall, though the very first man who attempted the feat in New York, on his side was the fact that at least he attempted that in a more professional setting.
It was a rushed job and very much a save the day situation, Kurt though still managed to simply get the instruction of what was needed rather than let the other designer fix his hair...
Luckily Chase didn't take that personally.
Elliott was a great friend even if sometimes a little too hands on kind of guy.
This was why unlike anyone else he just got off with a simple "Don't even think about it" when he offered to help Kurt getting ready.
Starchild had the audacity to offer said help with a bottle of glittered gel in his hands...
Kurt was fabulous, but there were limits and the combination of hair gel and glitter just touched it...
In exchange for not allowing that thing to pollute his hair Kurt ended up with glitter all over his body.
Adam had really appreciated the view and the abundance of cuddling it inspired in Kurt at the time.
That enthusiasm lasted until Kurt's retaliation fully sunk in.
They both took almost a month to stop finding glitter in their bed and the rest of their place.
All in all neither of them had minded the whole experience.
Adam was the only man who actually was allowed to play with Kurt's hair in any way he pleased.
Most of the time, it was a more helping along with the just rolled out of bed sexy hair, Kurt had apparently started wearing since they got officially together.
The truth was that once he and Adam got together, Kurt had basically needed to abandon any attempt to fix his hair.
As soon as they met and kissed hello, Adam's hand would have already passed in his hair at least twice, before Kurt could even realise it had happened.
Adam on the other hand loved playing with Kurt's hair, he loved how Kurt mewled and melted under his fingers treatment.
As he had never been rejected, nor had Kurt ever told him he should stop. So Adam never stopped and happily continued his hairstyling adventures.
Elliott was the first one to comment on the fact that Adam's hands seemed surprisingly fine, despite having a semi permanent residence in Kurt's hair.
Teasing that got promptly silenced with well aimed popcorns and a glare from Kurt...
That's it if one counted as silenced, having the 'silenced' person sniggering to the point he fell from his chair and curled on the floor tearing up with laughter.
It was at one of Vogue's party where Chase had the chance to observe Adam and Kurt interact, the couple was one of the most adorable ones he had ever seen.
He caught them hiding in the bathroom, Adam carefully adjusting Kurt's hair to appear less mussel than before the mess that the new intern made.
The way Blaine discovered was headache inducing for Kurt. The fact was he hadn't thought much about Blaine once Adam and he had gone steady.
And Kurt was perfectly happy in things being this way.
But of course in his own head Blaine had to get everything he wanted, so it was not so difficult to guess how bad it went the first time, or any other time after that.
The explosion had been of epic proportions, screaming and spluttering that would have made a toddler proud.
The whole Nyada was able to hear it, or it had been shared before the end of the day. Marring forever Blaine's reputation.
And if after that Adam had found many more reasons than before to let his hands wander, fixing and playing around with Kurt's hairstyle at every occasion...
Well, no one ever said that a grown man couldn't be petty at times.
Especially if it involved gaining more reason to kiss one's own boyfriends.
Finn's discovery had been almost disappointingly uneventful.
It might have been because Kurt and Adam had just flown back to Lima on the last flight, making them arriving rather late.
Kurt had been sleeping during it and he was only barely conscious at that point, after the full day of physically and mentally draining evaluations.
Finn had admired quietly the intimate way Adam would take care of his little brother.
Moving one longer fringe out of his face, while chatting happily with Finn, without treating him weirdly or all chummy chummy like Blaine used to do.
But the best experience so far had come the following morning. When Burt found his still sleepy son perched on the kitchen counter.
Adam preparing two mugs of tea before nuzzling his face on top of Kurt's head, messing up the hair in a way not even Burt had been allowed for the past two decades, and how that made Burt feel old…
Seeing the couple had not really noticed his presence he quipped as a greeting "Got nice hair there kiddo" to his immense pleasure Adam flushed a little embarrassed while Kurt's only reply was a grin as he fired back a teasing retort
"Dad I'm so glad you started noticing fashion, it's a look I particularly adore, it's called the in love look, pretty beautiful hairstyle don't you think?"
Burt raised an eyebrow amused and simply said "It looks good on you."
