Lexie had just returned to her quarters after an extremely long twilight shift down in Engineering, "Why does everything seem to break during my shifts?" Lexie questioned sleepily as she typed in her access code into the door. She slowly walked in and instantly got changed in to her PJ's, it was when she walked out of the bathroom she noticed that her digital companion Delta wasn't in her room. But at least he had left her a note: "Gone to spend some time with Scotty, see you later. Love Δ." Lexie smiled as she read the note, at least she knew where he had gone. So she climbed into bed but instead of going to sleep she switched on the bedside lamp and picked up a book which sat next to it, this was one of the books Lexie had brought on Lilo a few days ago, five to be exact. Lexie had yet been able to even start it since the last few days had been… hectic to say the least. She had only just finished making Delta a replacement pair of wings after he broke his original ones, but Lexie was more than happy to make a new set. Lexie opened the book and began to read, she had been looking forward to this.

However she didn't make it very far into the book before falling asleep, the book resting on her chest. Lexie had only read one page before falling into slumber, clearly she was more tired than she originally thought. Suddenly she was woken from her slumber by her communicator bleeping loudly, Lexie jolted herself awake. The book and herself ended up in a heap on the floor, "Ouch!" She muttered to herself as she reached up and grabbed her communicator angrily. "Smith here." She answered it, trying her best not to sound annoyed. "Lexie it's Kirk." "What can I do for you Captain?" Lexie asked as she rubbed her aching back, "I need you in the briefing room, immediately." Lexie could tell that something was going on, there was an all too familiar tone in the Captain's voice. "I'll be right there, Lexie out." She replied before snapping her communicator shut, Lexie then reached over and picked up her book. "So much for reading." Lexie sighed as she placed her book on the bed before heading into the bathroom to change back into her uniform, not getting a new one, she was too tired to care.

Slowly Lexie made her way to the briefing room, all while trying to figure out why Kirk would call her there. "This better be important otherwise I'm going to lose it." Lexie whispered to herself, all while she gave staring Officers a glare which made them all look away. She soon arrived at the briefing room and just walked straight in, "What did you need me for Sir?" Lexie asked, but it soon became apparent that it wasn't just Kirk in the room. The whole dam Command Crew were there, even Keenser. But it was clear by the looks on their faces that something had happened, "What's happened?" She asked while she folded her arms, Lexie was too tired to address any of them formally. "It's to do with Delta…" Stuttered Kirk, who was twiddling his thumbs like a naughty school boy. "What about him?" Kirk turned to face Scotty who simply sighed, Lexie stared at her Commanding Officer. Scotty also looked like a naughty school boy, one who was waiting to reveal something bad he had done. "Scotty, What did you do?" Lexie asked sternly, she really wasn't in the mood. Scotty gulped quietly.

"I may have been tinkering around with the wee lad systems and well…" Lexie glared at him, "You did what?!" Scotty seemed to quiver at her response. "What in your god dam mind made you think that doing something like that would be a good idea?!" Lexie cried, Scotty gulped quietly once again. "I was curious on how the lads robotic body worked, that's all." "You should have just asked, I would have been more than happy to show you. So where is Delta?" But no one answered, "I would like an answer please, from any of you." "We don't know where he is…" Chekov said nervously. Lexie pinched the bridge of her nose, she was too tired for this. "So let me get this straight. Scotty believed it would be a wonderful idea to mess around with Delta's robotics and somehow you've all lost him?!" Everyone slowly nodded, Lexie sighed loudly. "Bloody hell I can't…" Lexie stopped before she completely lost it, "Computer, locate Lieutenant Delta." She called, it was odd calling him 'Lieutenant'. "Lieutenant Delta's current location is Engineering." Lexie looked back at the others with a glare.

Most of the Command Crew had headed down to Engineering, while Spock, Uhura, and Sulu headed back up to the bridge. "You think Lexie's a little mad Bones?" Kirk whispered to McCoy as they walked, "What do you bloody think Jim, I would be if I was her." Lexie glanced over her shoulder at them, she really wasn't in the mood. They all walked into Engineering, "Delta!" Lexie instantly yelled out. But the reply that came back wasn't the one she had expected, instead of the little robot's cute voice answering her, all that came back was a series of distorted bleeps and buzzes. "Oh boy…" Muttered Kirk. Suddenly something came zooming towards them at colossal speed, "Hit the deck!" Yelled Scotty as he dropped to the floor, closely followed by everyone else. "What was that?!" Yelled McCoy as he scrambled to his feet, "That Doctor, was Delta." Lexie replied. "That was Delta?! I've never seen him fly so bloody fast?" Kirk stated as he got to his feet, "You can thank Scotty for that since his tinkering has caused him to be able to do that." Lexie stated angrily as she stared at the Scotsman, who simply looked away.

"How do we catch him?" Chekov asked, Lexie walked over to a nearby locker and pulled out a phaser. Scotty stared blankly at her, "You're not really going to shoot him are ya lass?" "No! Bloody hell I would never shoot Delta! I was just moving the dam thing to get this…" Lexie replied as she pulled out a long-handled net from the same locker. "Ever since that Komodo Dragon got beamed aboard, I figured it would be handy to keep these things around but I never intended on using them on my own dam robot." Lexie soon had handed, more like lobed a net to each of them. Just in time too since Delta came zooming past again, everyone swung their nets about frantically, trying to catch the tiny flying robot but to no avail. Instead Delta bolted out of the doors, which wasn't ideal. "Now he has the whole dam ship to fly about…" Lexie muttered angrily, clearly she wasn't the only one since she heard McCoy yelling something to Kirk. "You were meant to catch Delta Jim, not me!" Lexie turned to see that Kirk had his net over the CMO's head, she couldn't help but giggle since McCoy did look very funny.

After Kirk had freed McCoy they all ran after Delta, needless to say the task of catching him seemed much simpler on paper. Delta wasn't making it easy, first he had flown into the pool where he just hovered over the water, which apparently both Kirk and Chekov had forgotten was there since the two of them were now having a nice swim. Next the mad robot flew into the mess hall, which was only occupied by a few officers (thank god). Scotty and Keenser were jumping from table to table, nets swinging trying to scoop up Delta. But still he got away. It wasn't long before Delta had led them to almost every part of the ship and still they hadn't even gotten close to catching the little guy. The last place he went was the bridge, which wasn't going to end well, Kirk could just tell. They all stormed onto the bridge, nets tightly in hand. "Where is he?" Questioned Kirk, the officers on duty just pointed up. Flying around the room was Delta, once again Kirk and the others (minus Lexie) frantically tried to catch him but they only succeeded on catching each other.

Lexie just watched on while her crew mates began to untangle themselves, she was chuckling quietly. "Ain't you gonna try and help?!" McCoy asked angrily, Lexie smiled as she raised her hand to her mouth and whistled loudly. It was so loud that everyone had to cover their ears, "Bloody hell lass!" Scotty announced as he helped Keenser out of one of the nets. "Captain look!" Chekov cried, Kirk turned to see that Delta was no longer flying. In fact he had landed in Spock's lap who looked surprised, "Is he OK?" Spock asked. "He'll be fine Mr Spock, his systems have just been shut down." McCoy stared at her, "You mean you could have done that from the start?!" Lexie grinned at him. "Do you really think I wouldn't put an override function in place after what just happened?" Everyone just blinked, "Then why did you wait until now to use it?!" Kirk cried. By this point Lexie had wandered over to Spock, "How else was Scotty going to learn not to tinker with him?" Scotty looked away, he already knew she wasn't very happy about what he had done. "Come on Scotty, you can show me exactly what you did so I can fix it."

It had been two whole hours since Lexie had first been told about Delta and she was still fixing the damage Scotty had done, Scotty sat next to Lexie while she worked. They had taken Delta to Scotty's quarters since he had all the necessary tools already out. "I'm sorry Lexie, I didn't mean to make him go crazy…" The Scotsman muttered, "I know you didn't Scotty, but you still shouldn't have done it." "Aye I know. Are you mad with me?" He asked. Lexie smiled as she closed up a panel on Delta's chest, "I was at first, but I think that was mainly down to the fact that I'm tired. Besides I can't stay mad at you." Scotty smiled back at her, just as Delta burst back into life. "How you feeling Delta?" Lexie asked, "Better Lex, thanks. I'm just tired." Delta replied with a little yawn. It wasn't long before the little guy was asleep, Scotty had wandered off into the other room. "You know, maybe soon you can teach me how you ma…" He stopped mid-sentence when he saw that Lexie had fallen asleep at his desk, her head resting on her folded arms.

Scotty smiled as he walked over to her, he gently lifted her head up before placing one of his arms around her back and then the other under her knees. Lexie moved around, but she soon settled back down her head now resting on Scotty's chest. "That's just too dam cute." He whispered to himself as he gently carried her over to his bed and laid her down, Lexie shuffled as she adjusted but thankfully she didn't wake up. Scotty then grabbed the cover and placed it over her, "Sleep well lass." He said softly. As he turned to walk away he heard Lexie mutter something, "Thank you dad…" Scotty felt his cheeks blush bright red. Did Lexie just call him dad? Still smiling Scotty wandered over to Delta who he scooped up in his hands before heading back towards the bed, he placed the small robot next to his creator and he seemed to snuggle up to her. "Thanks Scotty." Delta said quietly, Scotty smiled as he made his way over to the couch. He lay down, his head resting on one of the cushions. Scotty soon fell asleep, his cheeks slowly returning to their normal colour. But they occasionally turned red again when he thought about the fact that Lexie had called him dad.
