The Day Miyuki and the Rest of the Seido Team Saw Rainbows and Stuff

In Miyuki's defense, he was very tired. It was summer time again and that means summer training from hell followed by practice game, one after another. He, like everyone else, can hardly sum up the strength to finish the obligatory 3 bowls of rice much less notice something amiss.
In fact, it started inconspicuously enough with Sawamura being Sawamura; and asking him to catch for him during dinner.
Sawamura dressed in his usual Seido practice uniform approaches him while eating and asks.
"Kazuya, will you catch for me tonight?"
However, that didn't stop there.
Sawamura then draped himself across the table where he was eating and looked up at him.
There might have been a rainbow that appeared afterwards.
Inside the dining hall.
Where there is a roof.
Sawamura, illuminated with bright varying colors, smiles coquettishly up at him.
…
….
Oh! Miyuki thinks. I must be tired.
Considering the soft voice, the utter silence around him and ignoring the fact that Sawamura called him Kazuya…Miyuki decided he must be so tired because he seem to be dreaming right now. So without answering, he quickly finished his food before getting up to get some much needed shut eye.
It was lovely.
It didn't explain how he woke up to the sight of Sawamura laying beside him the next morning.
This is high school, you know? And *insert gleaming eyes of moderators who needs to keep the censorship rating of any high school baseball story to PG13*….there are supposed to be no sleepi—he means cuddling as in friendly cuddling between teammates here in highschool…
He licks his lips.
He suddenly feels thirsty all of a sudden. Come to think of it, he hasn't taken a drink since last night at dinner. He probably should get something to eat too before morning practice started.
"Sawamura, what are you doing here?" He asks finally after an unhealthy amount of silence has passed.
Sawamura, this time, in all his baseball pajamas glory, cheerfully quips. "Good morning, Kazuya! I hope you have a nice dream cause I certainly did! Want a good morning kiss?"
Here, rays of colorful light appeared once again to shine on the pitcher's face.
Followed by a gust of wind to gently ruffle his hair as the pitcher's tilts his head to the side.
Rainbow and wind.
Inside his dorm room.
His closed dorm room.
…
….
Oh! Miyuki muses again. I must be really tired.
Miyuki got up, stretched; and ignoring the way Sawamura's face fell when he didn't answer, he went in search of coffee. He heard they do wonders for waking up so early in the morning.
An hour later and after several attempts to find coffee from the kitchen staff who insisted that this is highschool and no coffee was allowed to highschool boys, Miyuki finally arrived at the practice area.
Mmmmm…Miyuki sighs contently. Nothing like a good cup of hot chocolate to start a beautiful sunny day of practice.
He ignores the big dark flurry? cloud? something? slowly gathering in the bullpen. Because there is no such thing. It is thingless….
"Oi!" He calls out to the nearest pitcher.
The said pitcher, like the other members of the team seem to be staring at said bullpen.
"Ready to practice your slugger Furuya?" He asks.
Furuya turned to him in a daze. "Miyuki-sempai?"
"I said wanna catch?" He repeated as the thingless grew more and more in the background.
The thingless was then followed shortly after by a sudden fire that seem to appear (surrounding said background) as he continued to practice with Furuya.
Hmmm…Miyuki thinks. I might need to find coffee after all.
"Miyuki!" Kuramochi hissed at him immediately after morning practice was over.
Kuramochi then drags him to where the first sting members seem to have urgently gathered. Well that is, everyone except for Okumura-boy and Kanemaru who were just standing way off to the side and staring.
Miyuki leans forward to study their faces. Interesting. Is that horror?
"Miyuki!" Kuramochi hissed at him again trying to get his attention. "Are you even listening?!"
Miyuki shrugs.
Theres only so much he can listen to amidst the Oh my Gods and Why us?! exclaims from his team mates. There's also some talks about this Sawamura being from another universe - a romcom universe that is - and how can they please switch them back…all the while, Sawamura just sits there with his ever present thingless hovering above him.
Did he mention that Sawamura was also staring at him sadly?
…and are those crystal tears in the corner of his eyes?
…
….
Oh! Miyuki mulls over. They are finally getting to the adventure part huh? What a strange dream…
"What do we do?" Kominato's little brother asks, starting their adventure.
"Maybe we should ask someone more responsible?" Yui seriously answers.
Coach Kataoka stares at them all, moments later, before decisively shutting the door in their faces.
Rei opens the door, afterwards, enough to say afternoon practice is canceled for the day before doing the same.
The first string members could only look at each other awkwardly.
"Maybe we should ask someone less… mature?" Seto suggested grinning.
It didn't take for them to decide to go looking for Yuki Tetsuya.
He was their respectable former captain; after all.
With everyone working together, the team was able to threaten…*cough PG13 cough* gently ask the school bus driver to drive them to where the previous captain was currently studying. To no ones surprise, Tetsuya was in the campus' baseball field practicing.
"Tetsu!" Miyuki calls out.
Tetsu turned towards them in delight. "Oh? What is everyone doing here? Here to play shogi?"
Kuramochi kicked Masashi forward.
"Brother.."Masashi starts hesitantly. "We are in need of help from you for something so troubling."
Yuki looked at them one by one before settling on the site of Sawamura staring at Miyuki with tears glistening in his eyes.
"A problem with your battery?" Yuki asks in concern.
Miyuki met his stare calmly.
He nodded.
The first string members then found themselves spending a couple of hours fighting against Tetsu's university baseball team.
"Let's fight to the death!" Tetsu exclaims, a picture of a perfect sunrise at his back.
"To the power of friendship and baseball!" Sawamura exclaims back before a similar picture appears.
They lose half their games. However, Sawamura was much more cheerful afterwards as he finally completed a battery with his most handsome Miyuki.
Furuya and Okumuza boy just stood at the side watching, burning with the desire to play.
Thankfully, the sight of a furry tail suddenly appearing at Sawamura's back as well as dog ears on the top of his head stopped further requests for more matches …after several hours have gone by.
Sawamura's tail wagged.
…
….
Well. Miyuki contemplates. I wonder what kind of dog is he?
Jun was next.
Miyuki watches amused as the team take turns massaging his legs one by one. They didn't even have the chance to ask any question before Jun has to leave for a class.
Kuramochi as well the other team members, who didn't escape the treatment, glared at him.
Finding Kominato wasn't any better.
It only took one eye smile before the whole first string decided to high tail the f—fast- they meant fast - out of there. Haruichi, of course, remains behind as sacrifice.
May God rest his soul. The team prays.
Miyuki sighed, letting his hand pat Sawamura's head for the nth time as the remaining team members gather once again in their home field.
Sawamura, in utter happiness, purrs.
There are rainbows and flowers and shi….he means.. stuff…colorful happy stuff around him now. And Is that? Are those sparkles in his eyes? Wow why are there sparkles?!
…
….
Oh! Miyuki thinks again. . I must be really really tired to be having such a long dream. But… adventure or not this is getting ridiculous. Enough is enough! It's been a long day!
He raised his hand to stop this madness.
"You're going about it all wrong." He stated looking at their faces matter of fact.
The first string members gathered around him nervously.
Miyuki smirks. "You need to ask the all-knowing."
Chris answers after the fifth ring.
The school will probably scream from the high phone bills they will get if this is reality but it's neither here or there. Living in America, Miyuki thinks, is not an excuse to miss all the fun.
"What to do when you find yourself in another universe and wants to come back?" Chris asks ever patiently.
Most of the first string nods regardless of the fact Chris can't see them. Mostly, because Furuya has long ago decided he needs his nap now that they are back so they lost another one of their members in this adventure.
Kuramochi coughed. "Yes. It's a hypothetical project in the making."
Miyuki and the team stare at him, wondering how he even knew the word.
Kuramochi just glared before clearing his throat to ask again.
"Well," Chris started slowly, the team eagerly listening. "You probably need to fulfill a wish or a mission in order to get back."
That Miyuki thinks, might not be such a bad idea. Now what did dream Sawamura asked him today?
…
….
Oh!
Miyuki leans forward.
…
….
? #$Q?!
Oh! Miyuki realizes. I might not be dreaming, after all.
There's only so much you can believe when you taste something so sweet.
Under his teams' gobsmacked faces, he takes Sawamura's hand before dragging him back to the dorms.
*cough*
They need to discuss baseball strategies after all. They can worry about everything else thereafter.
~~ THE END or is it?
Meanwhile in another universe, another Sawamura slowly wakes to the sight of small rays of sunshine peeking through the curtains of his dorm room.
He yawned happily before setting aside the hand wrapped around him to get up and rub his eyes.
Huh…hand?!
He turned.
Tople…*inserts PG13 moderators cough here* The author means no shirt okay. No shirt Miyuki, because he probably hasn't done his laundry yet, smiles lazily BESIDE him.
"Good morning sunshine…" Miyuki huskily softly whispers.
THE END FOR REAL
