Everyone was gathered around the campfire, sharing their worst fear, and they learned lot about each other, mostly because of learning about their fears.
DJ suffers from ophidiophobia — the fear of snakes. Tyler sympathizes with him, revealing that he's scared of chickens — or alektorophobia. Everyone then starts talking about their greatest fears: Beth is scared of being covered in bugs; Harold is afraid of ninjas; and Heather is scared of sumo wrestlers.
Then, it was Gwen's turn as she hesitated, "What's my worst fear? I guess being buried alive."
Lindsay cringed, "Walking through a minefield. In heels."
Owen shook his head in distraught emotion as he said, "Flying, man. That's some crazy stuff."
Izzy gulped as she replied, "Hah. I would never go up in a plane. Never!"
Geoff cringed as he said, "I'm scared of hail. It's small but deadly, dude."
"Being left alone in the woods." Bridgette sighed, sadly.
A sniffling Sadie got her shit together as she said, "Bad haircuts."
Lindsay shuddered as quickly said, "Oh, okay. I change mine! That's so much scarier than a minefield!"
After thought, Cody revealed, "Having to diffuse a time bomb under pressure."
Courtney confidently replied, "I'm not really afraid of anything."
Calling her bluff, Duncan mocking coughed while saying, "Bullshit!"
"Oh, really. Well, what exactly is your phobia, Mr. Know-it-all?" Courtney said, annoyed.
The others watched as Duncan raised his eyebrows in shock, sweating only a tiny bit. All Duncan could do is sweat in fear, remembering the day in 2002 where he was humbled, humiliated and would never look at toys, or any lifeless objects the same way again after what HE did.
Then again, maybe Duncan brought it on himself as he was reckless and destroying Toys for his own sick and twisted games, he should've known that it was a matter of time before someone taught him a lesson he had to learn the hard way. But what will Geoff and the other guys think of him if he reveals this? Still, he had to say it somehow.
Groaning, he stutters, "C-Celine Dion music store standees."
The others were humored as Cody asks, "Haha, ex-squeeze me? I didn't quite get that."
Trent laughed as he said, "Dude, did you say Celine Dion music store standees?"
Duncan blushed in shame as he shields his face in humilation, it's all coming back to him again. It still haunts him to this day even after becoming a Juvie Punk to maintain his reputation.
"We're tired of being kicked around, pulled apart, burned, blown up..."
"W-W-W-We?!"
"That's right, your toys!"
Lindsay smiled as she said, "Ooh, I love Celine Dion!" But got dumbfounded as she asks, "What's a standee?"
Trent said, nonchalantly, "You know… That cardboard cutout thing that stands in the music store."
Duncan, alarmed, pointed at the cool guitar playing kid as he snapped, "Don't… Say it, dude!" The flashbacks grew louder in his head as he hears another voice,
"Rolf will release his rage now!"
"Kinda like a life-sized, but flat Celine." Trent explains.
Courtney slyly replies, "So if we had a cardboard standee right now…"
"SHUT UP!" Duncan said, having enough of going down memory lane as one last voice mockingly echoed in his head, "What's wrong, Duncan? Don't ya wanna play with Sally?" Duncan then snapped, "What about you guys?"
"Okay, well, I hate mimes. Like, a lot." Trent then said. Then he started to get impatient, "All right, Courtney, you're afraid of something. Spit it out."
Courtney quickly replied, "Nope. Nothing."
"That's not what she said last night." Duncan snortles.
"Duncan, did you ever consider that maybe I was just humoring you and your stupid story?" Courtney then said.
"Sure, sure, princess. Whatever floats your boat." Duncan sarcastically remarked.
"Shut up!" Courtney shouted. "At least I don't get sweaty around a Standee!"
Duncan growled in embarrassment.
Chris reveals the next challenge at breakfast the next morning: the campers will face their worst fears in a game he calls "Phobia Factor." And it was Gwen's turn, and she was handling her challenge well enough, particularly with Trent talking to her mostly.
"You still alive in there? Only three more minutes." Trent asks, curious.
Gwen tried not to panic as she said through walkie-talkie, "And then you'll dig me up, right?"
"Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere. I promise."
"I need some kind of distraction! Tell me a story! Um, why do you hate mimes so much?"
Trent sighs as he remembers that day, the day that he needed his favorite toy to comfort him, the day that he would be so afraid of things worse than his former neighbor, Duncan, or his dog, Vinny.
"My mom took me to this carnival once when I was four so I could see the elephants. I was stoked!" Trent said.
"Yeah?"
"I was so busy watching them that I lost her for a minute. I called out, but when I turned, all I could see was the horrible white face with black lips pretending to be me! I screamed and tried to run, but every time I turned around, he was there, doing this creepy fake run and scream routine!"
"What did you do to calm down when your mother found you?"
"Well, when I was young, my Mom and Dad gave this Sherman Peabody pull-string doll, and when you pulled the string, he would say some phrases, such as "You're a cool friend." or "I don't get it.". He quickly became my favorite toy. He was there to calm me down when I was scared, we had so much fun together..."
Suddenly the moment was ruined as Trent felt someone poke his shoulder. Looking back, and doing a classic invisible box routine, Trent came face to face with his worst fear…a mime. Trent screamed, dropping his walkie talkie and quickly started running away with the mime quickly chasing after him.
All of the Killer Bass were there to watch as Duncan, with Courtney next to him, was looking right in front of him and saw that a mew 2 yards away…was a cardboard cutout of Celine Dion. The memories of that day opened up like floodgates again.
"That's right, We're talking to you, Duncan Ryanson!"
"Now, I know what you're thinking. "But toys can't move!" And it's true. We never do move in front of people; in fact, it's never been done. Not at all. But you, you are such a..."
"Viscous jerk!"
"Yeah, viscous. Yeah. And stupid..."
"Selfish..."
"Nasty..."
"Repulsive, little butt-face."
"So we decided to make an exception, just for you."
"She's pretty. She's nice." Courtney reassured the delinquent in a gentle tone.
"Just one hug and you're done." Chris said, with the snap of his fingers.
Duncan shuddered as he continued to be haunted by the memories, paranoid about Music Store Standees coming to life and often becoming the butt of everyone's jokes until Duncan snapped and started his Juvie Streak again, just to repress the memories of that Day and keep it hidden, no matter how bad it destroyed his chances at college and education whatsoever.
"T-That looks really…real, man." Duncan actually spoke to Courtney, fearful.
"Hey." Courtney reassuring, as she places a comforting hand on Duncan's shoulder. "It's okay if you can't do it."
Taking a deep breath, he stepped forward to the standee. He took another deep breath and ran full speed towards the cutout, hugging it. His team cheered as Duncan earned the bass their point.
But Duncan knew that it didn't change anything, his fear of Standees is gone forever, but the memories of that fateful day will still haunt him.
After defeating the mime, Trent proceeds to get side-tracked by pranking Geoff with Chris. After hearing Chris use the word "buried" in conversation, he finally remembers Gwen and frantically digs her up, but not until much after her five minutes are up. Once he frees her, Gwen angrily threw him walkie-talkie at him and held a grudge with him for a couple days.
As for the other campers, most of the campers conquer their fears, but a few others don't fare as well. Tyler is voted off for being too afraid to face his fear of chickens.
Trent, however, was disappointed he didn't get to finish his story, but Duncan, he was glad that he didn't reveal his story to anyone, but someone he least suspects knows about Duncan's secret fear.
