Sup guys? Time for another story. This one about RWBY. Enjoy the 800-word chapter. I don't own RWBY. Monty Oum and Rooster Teeth do.
There were dozens of units within the Atlesian military. It had millions of soldiers which thousands of which were flesh and blood at the moment.
Still? Those human soldiers also made very human reactions, they were not immune to disgust or anger at certain actions. They had hesitation and could make mistakes.
But then again? It was because of those qualities that Ironwood respected the men and women under his command. Owning up to those mistakes were the hard part in life.
"And that is the full report?" Ironwood asked while getting a nod in response. "Then your dismissed. The Grimm will continue to come even if we turn the area into a crater. Bombs aren't going to work; we need more then muscle." Ironwood stated and dismissed the Sergeant.
He knew for a fact that the Grimm would continue to cut into their defenses. They were beasts, but Grimm were relentless, feral. Nobody could ever predict them.
"That's the second convoy attacked this week." Ironwood stated and tented his fingers. "And if we lose another? The Amity project falls behind schedule." Ironwood added while leaning back in his seat.
He knew for a fact that there were far more enemies in the world then just the Grimm. With the election coming up? He knew very well that Robyn would be making a play soon, he didn't much care for the politics of war, but he did have against a knack for tactics.
There would be far more then enough problems with him having to fight for more power on the council. Every time he proved he couldn't fight and protect Atlas? The more people that he lost for votes. Leadership was something he needed if he was going to save Atlas.
"General?" Ironwood heard as he turned to look around his office. "I'm reporting as ordered. The units you requested have moved on your orders." Ironwood heard from Winter as the specialist entered the room.
He looked up at his second in command. Winter was busy handling the majority of field work. Ironwood started to tire of the chains of commanding. He had done far more work when he was fighting in Vale.
Vale… That name brought back no shortage of memories when it came back to mind. Ironwood knew very well about each and every nightmare that he had since then. He didn't sleep, he didn't stop dwelling on the issue.
"General?" Winter questioned which caused the man to look up at her. "Your staring into space again." Winter stated as she walked to the war table.
"Space would be much better then whatever is happening now." Ironwood replied and leaned back in his seat. "The last convoy… These damn Grimm have become adaptive. Salem's readying for an assault and I don't know where it will come from next, what her aim is… But I do know she's coming for Atlas next." Ironwood said while crossing his arms with a frown.
The general wasn't stupid, nor paranoid at the moment. He could pull the pieces together and figure out whatever plan Salem had cooked up… But that required time, and everyone was pulling time away from him to focus.
"I'll supervise the next shipment personally." Winter stated which gained a raised eyebrow. "This wont be like the Paladin shipment in Vale. Salem's already robbed us of things like hope and trust. It's time we start returning the favor." Winter added to which Ironwood hummed.
Winter said nothing and left the general to his office. She knew very well the man was dealing with more stress then anyone should have on his platter currently. That wasn't helped with so many distractions that it became impossible to focus on a single issue when it came down to it.
Winter resolved to take away some of that weight so the general could focus on more meaningful things.
Starting with checking in on the Ace-Ops and other special forces units. Every single one of them awaiting new orders and every single one of them eager to prove themselves.
Well? They'd get the chance soon enough. Today would be as fine a day as any to figure out who was fit for service… And who was better off as support staff.
