"Hey Kim, you coming?" Hailey called across the room. It was 9:30 on a Friday evening in the intelligence bullpen, and as was their usual, Kim Burgess and Hailey Upton were the last out of their unit still at the 21st, all the boys already having made off to Molly's.

"Just finishing this paperwork then I'm going home,"

"K I'll tell Platt not to lock the gate see you tomorrow,"

"Yeah see you,"

Kim put her head in her hands and rubbed her forehead. She had an awful headache and really needed to sleep but also had to finish this work. If she did that, she'd be at the shooting range all day tomorrow, whilst the others were busting their asses trying to hit the deadline the commander set for the deadline for this month's arrest records. She lifted her head out of her hands and typed up the last paragraph. And done. Finally. Now to just go home and sleep would be bliss. Kim picked up her bag and pulled her phone out. There was a text from Adam Ruzek:

You coming to Molly's?

No it's been along day just gonna go home and sleep xx

Ok text me if you need anything love you x

Love you too xx

'See you tomorrow sarge,' she called to Sargent Platt on the way out, who as usual gave a noncommittal noise in her general direction. She stepped outside the cool wind hitting her face, a much better cure to a headache than paracetamol. Her car lights flashed as she unlocked it and then dropped her phone into her bag. Just as she got close enough to open the door, she heard footsteps behind her and presuming it was probably Trudy coming to moan at her for bot locking the gate or something turned around. But as she did, she felt a blow to her head and fell to the floor, dropping her bag and keys. For the split second before the second blow, she saw a van pull up next to them, then she couldn't see, couldn't move, couldn't scream, only feel herself being thrown into the back of the van, hear the door being slammed, then she blacked out.

The next morning

"Geez Kim's in early I thought she finished up last night," Hailey thought as she glanced across the parking lot at Kim's car.

"Kev where's Kim I need her help with some of the paperwork?" Hailey said to Kevin Atwater as she entered the bullpen.

"She's not in today she finished yesterday,"

"That's weird, her car's out front,"

"I'll try calling her," Adam jumped in, pulling out his phone, "No answer,"

"What's up," Voight said coming out of his office

"Kim's not meant to be in today, but her car's out front and she's not answering her phone," Hailey explained

"Well go have a look outside then,"

Hailey motioned to Adam to come with her and they went to see if she was in her car. Adam peered inside. She wasn't in there, then tried the handle.

"That's weird it's open" Adam said over the car

"Adam. Somethings wrong," she said as she held up her best friends bag and car keys.

"Hailey I got blood here,"

"Trudy I need you to send all of last nights CCTV of the front parking lot to my computer now." Hailey said to Trudy as her and Adam ran upstairs to talk to Voight. Hailey ran to her computer as Adam told everyone what they had saw.

"Guys you gotta see this," Hailey said, hand over her mouth.

Jay, Kev, Adam, and Voight looked over her shoulder as she played it from the beginning. They watched as a dark silhouette of a man walked up behind her with a spanner in his hand and hit her with it, as she fell to the floor and he hit her again, then as he dragged he into the back of the van, slammed the door and climbed in the front and they drove away.

"OMG," Jay said under his breath.

"What the hell," Kevin said wide eyed.

"Kim..." Adam trailed off.

"Why did they wait though?" Hailey said, and they all turned to look at her, "a dozen people walked past them before, including me, but they waited for Kim. Why?"

"Kim...Kim never told you guys, did she?" Voight said taking them all by surprise.

"Told us what?" Adam said puzzled.

Voight looked up at Platt who had now joined them and also seen the CCTV footage. "It's time you know the truth."
