Chapter 1:

A/N: This story is completely AU and my story is set in present day

It was midafternoon as LT. Cole Raines parked his black with red ghost flames custom Panhead Chopper in front of the Boston Police Department Homicide. He lowered the kickstand and fluidly stepped off. Then he walked inside and up to the homicide and the first person he saw was DET SGT Vince Korsak. Korsak grinned as he asked, "Cole why are you here?"

He replied as he took off his black oilskin duster and his fringe black leather gloves and he saw the black 9 MM Nighthawk Custom BROWNING HI POWER in a black Galco Miami Classic shoulder holster. He also saw how tightly his faded red long sleeve pearl snap shirt clung to his powerfully muscled upper body and heavily muscled arms to his black bootcut Wrangler jeans and the black LUCCHESE cowboy boots, "I need to talk to Jane."

Korsak grinned even bigger as he led Cole over to DET Jan Rizzoli's desk and sad, "Jane you remember SGT Cole Raines, right?

DET Jane Rizzoli knew exactly who he was; for he was LT. Cole Raines 4 years ago the IAB came to him and asked me to go undercover in the 14th precinct in Southie. They wanted him to ferret out dirty cops; he ended up taking down an entire narco squad. and in retaliation they busted out a sicario named Berto Villanueva to kill him but he got his wife instead. Cole ended up killing him then set about trying to get justice for his wife but it never came. He was eventually encouraged to drop it and in exchange was given a special crimes unit. He asked, "Wanna go grab a bite to eat I have a proposition for you

He pulled on his gloves and slid into his duster as she nodded and said, "Sure let's go.

They both walked outside got on his bike and he fired up the 93 CI Panhead Engine and they roared away.

20 minutes later they pulled up in front of a quaint little diner; Cole asked as he pulled his Gatorz Eyewear WRAPTOR POLARIZED and his fringe black leather gloves, "You know where we are right?"

Jane slowly climbed off the bike and replied in a surprised voice, "This was where we had our first date."

He grinned as he nodded and said as they entered, "It's also the place I took you to tell you I was joining the Army."

She said once they were seated, "I remember. You wanted to be an Army Ranger more than anything. Your grandpa, your dad, your uncles and your two older brothers were Rangers if I recall."

He said after the waitress took their drink orders, "Yes that's right."

Then he took her hand is rough calloused ones as he said, "Thank you for agreeing to come eat with me."

She replied in a quiet voice, "I never stopped loving you; you know I was really sorry to hear about Val but god help me part of me is glad because I really want you back."

Cole said in a gentle voice, "There's nothing wrong with feeling that way. What we had was very special. We were each other's first everything."

She said, "I tried getting back together with Casey but it didn't work out."

He said, "I'm sorry to hear that."

She thanked him as the waitress returned with their drinks and asked for their orders. They both ordered bacon cheeseburgers and steak fries. The waitress left to place their orders. Once she was gone Jane asked, "What proposition do you wanna make?"

Cole looked down sheepishly as he said, "There is no proposition I just wanted to take you out to lunch."

She grinned at him as she said, "All you had to was just ask; you didn't need to run game."

He took a sip of his soda as he said lightly, "I'll remember that for next time."

She asked, "When did you get that bike it's nice."

He replied, "I built it in 08 when I left the Army. I had put a custom rider passenger seat for it and a custom tall chrome sissy bar on it along with the 93 CI Panhead that in it I wanted a panhead chopper like my dad had.

She asked, "Are the saddle bags custom as well?"

Said, "Naw their just concho and fringe throwover bags."

Jane was about to say something when they're food was brought to them. They ate joked and quasi flirted throughout the entire meal.

Jane had just popped her last fry in her mouth when her cell began to ring. She answered it as Cole went and paid the check. When he returned to the table, he saw the haunted look on Jane's face and asked as he pulled his gloves on, "What's wrong?"

She replied, "They found a body. It looks like Charles Hoyt is back."

Cole said, "I'll take you and my squad will help find that bastard and put him either in the ground or behind bars."

She thanked as they walked outside, got on his bike and went to the crime scene.

When they got there Cole and Jane ducked under the tape and Jane asked, "Do you think it's Hoyt?"

Dr. Maura Isles replied, "Based on the similarity in the wounds and the fact that she was sexually assault just minutes before death... I'd say that is a very good possibility."

Then she added, "I'm sorry Jane."

She nodded her thanks As DET Barry Frost and Jane's younger brother Officer Frankie Rizzoli walked up. Frankie asked, "Are you going to help us get Hoyt LT?"

Cole was about to reply when Jane snapped, "Did anybody see anything?"

Both Frankie and Frost said, "No."

Jane cursed as Korsak put a hand on her shoulder and said, "If this Hoyt We'll get him."

Jane exploded, If it's Hoyt; Vince are you kidding me? Look at the wounds."

Then she held out her hand and said, "They look just the scars on my hands."

Cole said as he put his phone away, "Don't worry Janie we'll find Hoyt."

She thanked him as she asked. "Who were you on the phone with?"

He replied, "I called my team in; they'll meet us at the precinct."

She nodded as Maura packed up and loaded up the body and then they left.
