A/N: First, I want to say thank you to Jameyofthemegacosmos for partnering with me to do this story and for his beta work and touch-ups.
Thanks to him, I might FINALLY have a Kingdom Hearts crossover I can feel confident in.
I posted the chapter earlier, but after concluding the chapter was way TOO long I decided to cut out a lot of stuff and save it for another chapter.
However, I will be melding elements of Super Robot Wars X with Kingdom Hearts and change up canon quite a bit. Sora and his friends will appear in this story, but first, there are the main villains who will be introduced first in this story, followed by Lelouch's appearance.
All to give you an idea of the foes Lelouch and Sora will have to face, but in turn, they will have opportunities to find some good allies.
Lelouch will appear after the first half, but how he ended up where he is now will be revealed in the chapter. I did have some reservations about some things Jamey and I did with this chapter since I am starting things off with a bang.
I'll save any explanations and more for the end of the chapter, so let's get started.
Chapter 1
Growing Shadow
Across the sea of stars upon a world that wasn't like Earth, but very different. The sounds of gunfire and explosions echoed throughout Akademeia as the battle that had engulfed the city continued. Standing near the remains of a ruined home stood a young man of sixteen wearing a black tunic coat with gold-padded shoulders, white pants with black boots, and a red cape. He possessed black hair and amethyst eyes.
"This is Ace," a small device in his ear said as it began reacting. "I have received the Crystal Oriented Messaging Medium from Izana. we should all be connected to HQ now."
"I am reading you loud and clear. Well done, Ace," the young man replied.
"Lelouch," Ace said as his voice was hesitant, but Lelouch realized what the cause was.
"Izana has been mortally wounded, hasn't he?"
I had a bad feeling this would happen, Lelouch commented internally.
Lelouch knew Izana wasn't dead because Ace could still remember him, but the tone of Ace's voice indicated sadness. Having known Ace for a long time, Lelouch knew few things could've caused this, making it easier for him to deduce what happened.
"I tried to heal him, but Queen says his wounds are too far gone." Ace replied sadly.
"I understand," Lelouch said before taking a moment to consider his words. "Your mission remains unchanged. Izana died for his nation and his belief you can save the Dominion, so don't disappoint him."
"I won't," Ace replied with determination.
"Good," Lelouch said before explaining. "I need you, Queen and Nine, to head for the Airship Landing. An enemy airship has landed where according to Intel, one of the Crystal Jammers being used is located."
"Okay, but what about you?"
"The others and I will do what we can to stall the Empire's advance and draw their attention. Hopefully, allowing you to approach the airship with minimal resistance," Lelouch answered. "I'll be sending Seven and Jack to back you up. They will rendezvous with you at Rubrum Square before heading to the Arena, where the primary Crystal Jammer is located. Our intel suggests a l'Cie guard this one, so be ready for a serious fight."
"Got it!"
"We'll try to rendezvous with you at the Arena once we wipe out the enemy. You'll have to deal with the Crystal Jammers," Lelouch explained as he stepped out onto the street away from the ruined building. "Remember, time is of the essence. The forces of Rubrum are crippled without access to magic, so the longer those Crystal Jammers remain in effect, the more casualties they'll sustain. If they lose too much, they may not have the forces; to launch a proper counterattack."
"Roger that, good luck Lelouch," Ace said before ending the transmission.
"You too," Lelouch said before pulling his hand away from his ear.
"Ace got the COMM, didn't he?"
Lelouch turned to face the young woman approaching him. Despite being eight inches shorter, she was as old as he was, with brown hair hanging below her shoulders, dark blue eyes. The girl wore a uniform identical to Lelouch's. The only difference was the red cape worn more like a scarf-style cape, and instead of white pants, she wore a red tartan skirt, black socks, and black shoes.
"He got it, but I am afraid Ace's friend from the Chocobo Ranch isn't going to make it. He was badly wounded by the enemy while trying to deliver it," Lelouch answered with a sad expression. "Healing magic can't heal him."
"I see," Deuce replied, saddened that Ace had lost a friend. "I am sorry to hear that."
"He knew the risks when Ace asked him to deliver the COMM," Lelouch pointed out. "But he wanted to be of use and would do whatever he could to ensure the safety of the Dominion, so let's not disappoint him."
"Right," Deuce replied as she and Lelouch approached the rest of their group.
"So, we're good to go?" A girl wielding a large scythe inquired.
Sice, the scythe-wielding member of their group, was sixteen with pale silver hair tied into a spiky top-knot with purple eyes. Her uniform was identical to Deuce's, but instead of black shoes, she wore knee-high black boots with heels, and her red cape was tattered.
"Yes, COMMs are up and running. Ace, Queen, and Nine should be on their way to the Airship Landing by now," Lelouch answered.
"What is the plan?"
Lelouch turned to another member of his group. Jack was a male who wore the same uniform as him, with only a leather belt around his waist. He had short blonde hair and blue eyes with an easy-going expression on his face.
"I want you and Seven to meet up with Ace and his group at Rubrum Square. Help them destroy the Primary Crystal Jammer at the Arena."
"Got it," Seven replied.
Seven was one year older than Lelouch, possessing medium-length silver hair and violet eyes with a lighter skin tone. Seven wore the same uniform as the others, but she wore flat-heeled knee-high boots, black shorts under her skirt, and didn't wear the red cape.
Seven and Jack took off, heading for their destination.
"What about the rest of us?"
King was the oldest among the boys present, with a slightly tanned complexion with red eyes and long blonde hair. Unlike the others, King wears his uniform jacket open, revealing a black shirt underneath.
"King, I want you with me, Deuce, Sice, Cinque, and Eight," Lelouch answered before explaining his plan.
"Alright!"
The cheerful exclamation came from Cinque, who was around the same age as Lelouch. Cinque stood slightly taller than Deuce, with long ginger hair styled into long braids and blue eyes. Like some of the other female members of their group, she wore her uniform differently. Instead of a red cape, she wore a red mantle, and she wore long, thigh-high black socks and black shoes.
The next member meant to accompany Lelouch, Eight, was a young man of sixteen with chestnut hair and matching eyes with a slightly tanned complexion. His uniform was identical to the other boys in the group. The differences were that Eight wore black boots, his red cape fashioned into a mantle around his neck, and a pair of combat gloves.
"Trey," Lelouch said, turning to the archer of the group.
Trey was sixteen with blonde hair and blue eyes. His uniform was similar in style to Eight's, but he wore a black archery glove on his right hand and a matching chest guard.
"I want you to take Cater to seize higher ground to give you an ideal vantage point," Lelouch advised. "You'll have crowd control, and Cater will cover you from any attacks. I would suggest moving around periodically."
"To avoid enemy fire and artillery?" Trey inquired.
Lelouch nodded in confirmation.
"No sweat, we got this," Cater boasted confidently.
Cater was a sixteen-year-old girl with flared auburn hair and blue eyes with a slightly suntanned complexion. She wore the same uniform as the others. The only notable differences were the knee-high black socks, black shoes, a short red cape covered by the red satchel backpack Cater carried.
"Right, this is Class Zero's big debut," Lelouch said with a smile as he extended his right hand to summon his weapon.
Materializing, in his right hand, was a hybrid between a key and a sword. Its design was based on a skeleton key with a nearly four-foot blade and crown-shaped teeth near the end, reflecting that of a key. Its handle black, and its blade was a steely silver with a silver chain hanging from the pommel with a unique token with a circle with two big ears upon it.
"I say we do it with some flair," Lelouch said as he and the rest of Class Zero made their way towards the battlefield.
Mere hours ago, the Militesi Empire's armies launched a massive invasion into the Dominion of Rubrum. Around the same time, a separate air fleet launched a surprise attack on the capital of Rubrum, Akademeia. The Militesi Empire was the most aggressive of the four nations in the world of Orience. An Empire in name control of the country fell to Marshal Cid Aulstyne following the Emperor's disappearance.
There were border skirmishes before the conflict, but no one could've expected such a massive invasion of such scale.
Not to give the enemy too much credit, this is a bold invasion plan. By launching a massive invasion into Dominion territory combined with a surprise attack on the capital, they caused the armies defending their territories to flee back to Akademeia to protect it. Thus leaving much of the Dominion easy for the Empire to occupy with less resistance, Lelouch remarked internally.
Arriving at what appeared to be the city square, Lelouch and Class Zero spotted many Imperial Troopers securing the area. The bodies of fallen legionaries of Rubrum's armies lay scattered. They had held the line against the enemy until the Crystal Jammer had been deployed, cutting off the defenders from the light of the Vermilion Bird Crystal, the source of the country's magic.
Without access to their magic, the defenders of Akademeia were quickly overwhelmed.
Thankfully this wouldn't be an issue for Class Zero and Lelouch; they didn't rely on the Vermilion Bird Crystal to use magic.
Nevertheless, Lelouch made a mental note to be careful of becoming too dependent on his magic.
"Cinque, you're up," Lelouch commanded.
"Yahoo!"
Cinque leaped into the air before landing before a group of surprised imperial soldiers. As she neared the ground, she materialized a giant mace in her hands before slamming it into the ground as Cinque landed. The impact of her mace striking the ground caused what could only be described as an Earthquake as the ground below the feet of the imperial troopers was violently upended. Some unfortunate enemy troops were sent flying while some lost their footing.
King was next to join the battle conjuring a pair of handguns into his hands.
In a display of precision shooting, King landed one headshot after another upon the enemy while skillfully evading enemy counterattacks. King cleverly used the broken stone slabs left sticking up as areas to take cover behind when enemy counterattacks became too thick for him to dodge.
Trey made his presence known during the battle by releasing one arrow after another, which found its way into the head or neck of an imperial trooper.
Channeling magic into his next arrow, Trey released it as it struck the ground ahead of an approaching enemy squad. A wall of fire erupted from the soil around where it landed, blocking the approaching troopers' path. Some Imperial Troopers made the mistake of running into the wall of flames to bypass it.
The mystical flames quickly consumed them in agony as a testament to their intensity.
Amidst the battle, the sound of a melody played by a flute began to echo throughout the area. Deuce stood near Lelouch playing her flute, but her performance wasn't just pleasant to listen to because Deuce's music can empower her allies. Lelouch was using his magic to defend her while using his Keyblade to channel a spell.
Hastega, Lelouch thought as he cast a spell to empower Cinque's speed.
Cinque ambushed the imperial troops after moving around the wall made of fire, using a gap none of the enemy soldiers noticed. Cinque struck with enough force to separate a trooper's head from his shoulders with a mighty swing of her mace. Thanks to Lelouch and Decue using their magic to boost Cinque's fighting ability. Cinque slammed her mace into the ground to unleash another shockwave that knocked any nearby Imperial Troopers off their feet. As Cinque continued to attack the Imperial Troopers, King joined her in dispatching enemy soldiers to keep them from overwhelming her.
Joining the fray was Sice. She cut down three Imperial Troopers near King and Cinque, sowing further confusion among the enemy.
Cater was busy dispatching enemies using her pistol as she and Trey relocated to a new vantage point. Meanwhile, some Imperial Troopers had made their way around the attacking Sice, Cinque, and King. As the troopers descended upon Lelouch and Deuce, Eight intervened, punching one Imperial Trooper in the face with enough force to shatter bone.
Unlike the others of his Class, Eight disliked using weapons and preferred to use his fists due to his personal beliefs.
"Reflect," Lelouch said, casting a barrier around himself, Deuce, and Eight.
The Imperial Troopers couldn't get through the barrier. It even caught the bullets from their rifles upon firing on it.
Lelouch made a quick hand gesture with a smirk, which caused the bullets to be reflected right back at the Imperial Troopers, killing them. However, the demise of those Imperial Troopers didn't stop a new group from taking their place.
Eight was quick to engage them as he dispatched one trooper with a neck-breaking roundhouse kick. Lelouch joined, using his Keyblade to unleash a deadly bolt of lightning that electrocuted six of them at once. Deuce also joined in on the offense changing the tune of her song that created musical orbs that sought her enemies. They were slow, but they quickly homed in on the nearest enemy.
Upon contact, the musical notes exploded, killing an enemy trooper.
Between Deuce's musical notes, Eight's martial arts, and Lelouch's attacks with magic, the Imperial Troopers had little room to evade their attacks.
Lelouch followed up his attacks with a stream of fire he unleashed from his Keyblade to torch two Imperial Soldiers, including an officer leading them. Deuce's musical orbs would claim more imperial troopers while Eight defeated another soldier in combat.
After defeating the two dozen Imperial Troopers and their leading officers, Lelouch took a moment to take a deep breath.
"Are you alright?" Deuce asked, concerned for Lelouch's well-being. "Here, I'll cast a healing spell on you."
Deuce's healing spell washed over Lelouch, lifting some of his exhaustion.
"Thank you, but I am fine. I just didn't expect real combat to wear me out like this," Lelouch answered. "Still, I intend to see this to the end."
"Everyone else seems to be doing fine," Eight remarked, pointing to Cinque, King, and Sice.
Sice, in particular, was leaving a trail of decapitated Imperial Troopers in her wake. At the same time, Cinque had destroyed much of her surroundings. However, Cinque also left behind Imperial corpses with their heads gone or bodies crushed by her mace.
"Don't get careless," Lelouch warned. "It's not over until the enemy retreats, so stay alert."
Deuce noticed a call coming in on their COMMs, which Lelouch decided to answer.
"This is Class Zero, Cadet Lelouch Lamperouge speaking."
"You must be the strategist of Class Zero Dr. Arecia told me about," a male voice spoke on the other line. "My name is Kurasame Susaya; I'll be your Commanding Officer. What is your status?"
"We have impeded the enemy at the Festival Square, and so far, it seems we have drawn their attention. It should allow our fellow cadets to reach the airship where one of the Crystal Jammers is located." Lelouch explained as he observed more Imperial Troopers arrive on the scene.
Sice, King, and Cinque were already intercepting them while Trey continued to provide range support.
"I see, and we have noticed large numbers of the enemy's forces have been converging upon your location. Your distraction tactic has been working so far," Kurasame remarked.
Ace and the others should've reached the airship by now, Lelouch thought as the situation worsened by the minute.
Meanwhile, aboard one of the lead airships, the lead Imperial Officer, a man in his twenties with blonde hair, a blue eye with his left eye covered by an eye patch, was seated behind his desk. His attire consisted of a white uniform with black boots and blades on his shoulders, signifying his high rank within the Militesi Empire.
"So far, the battle is progressing in your favor Brigadier General."
The man seated across from him offering that compliment was seemingly similar in age with red-violet hair that hung to his shoulders with amber eyes and a fair skin complexion. His attire consisted of a black fedora, a black trench coat, pinstripe trousers, black boots, and a floral print mantle with a hood with black fingerless gloves.
"Indeed, and these Class Zero cadets you have mentioned have yet to make an appearance," Qator Bashtar replied. "Still, the resources you have provided the Empire has been quite useful, Mr. Izunia."
Ardyn Izunia devilishly smiled as he exclaimed.
"Well, the best thing about the resources I provide is that we can very easily make more. I heard the Heartless and the MTs I have given you have dealt with the approaching Dominion Legions that came upon our rear?"
Qator nodded in confirmation.
"Yes, they have, which would've impeded our efforts had their legions attacked our rear. It wouldn't have changed the outcome, but it would've slowed things down."
"True, but without their magic, the Dominion is doomed. Unless Class Zero intervenes, which should be anytime soon if what I was told was correct."
"With all due respect, I don't think the Dominion has anything that could," Qator began but was interrupted when someone knocked on the door to his office.
"Forgive the interruption, sir, but I begin urgent news," the office called from the other side of the door.
"Enter," Qator ordered.
Within moments a white-uniformed imperial officer entered the room.
"Sir, we have just received a report that Vessel Six has been destroyed."
"That vessel was carrying one of the Crystal Jammers," Qator said with a look of realization upon his face.
"I am afraid that is not all, sir," the Imperial Officer mentioned reluctantly. "We have lost the 401st, 161st, and 903rd companies. We do have a report of a survivor from the 161st company, sir, who claimed those who attacked his unit were using magic."
Qator glanced at Ardyn, who merely gave him a knowing smile. "It's Class Zero; they can use magic without the Vermilion Bird Crystal."
"Impossible," the officer commented while Qator remained composed.
"I had warned the General and the Marshal of these events, and they would be proof of everything else I have told him that has yet to come to pass," Ardyn explained.
"If that is so, then send some MTs to back up Qun'mi; their next target will be the Crystal Jammer we planted in the Arena. I also want the survivor from 161st brought to me immediately," Qator commanded.
"Yes, sir," the Imperial Officer replied with a salute before leaving.
Things should be getting a little more interesting, Ardyn thought, wondering what would happen next.
"I'll call some Heartless to aid Qun'mi as well," Ardyn said before snapping his fingers.
Near the Akademeia Arena, black shadows began to rise from the ground and assume a humanoid-like shape. The creature had inky black skin, bright yellow eyes, and horn-like antennas on its head.
Sometime later, the other members of Class Zero were making their way to the Fountain Courtyard. The courtyard was in front of the academy for training cadets, which also served as its seat of government. Furthermore, their objective, located at the Arena, wouldn't be too far from their present location.
Seven and Jack had successfully met up with Ace and his group.
Along the way, the group had run into more squads of Imperial Troopers. Seven used her whip blade to slash open the throats of the nearest Imperial Troopers. The ones who were out of reach of Seven's blade aimed their rifles at her to stop her. Thankfully Seven leaped away in time while using her whip blade to deflect the enemy's bullets.
Jack stepped in, materializing his sword, a katana, before rushing towards the Imperial Troopers. In a display of impressive swordsmanship, Jack cut down one enemy soldier. Followed by cutting off the head of another while effortlessly evading gunfire from the others, moving quicker than the eye could track.
"Look out, Jack," Ace called out.
A dozen playing cards guided by magic shot forth before cutting into an unfortunate Imperial Trooper, killing him after one slashed open his throat. Ace's cards returned to him once the trooper had been dispatched.
Meanwhile, the most aggressive of Class Zero, a young man of seventeen with a muscular build, impaled another imperial trooper upon his bladed spear. Nine lifted the dying soldier to use his body as a shield to protect him from the remaining troopers' counterattack as they tried to gun Nine down with their rifles.
"Incoming," Nine shouted as he hurled the dead trooper off his spear into the group of enemy troopers.
As the enemy was recovering from evading the corpse being thrown at them, Queen stepped in armed with her longsword. Casting a spell, Queen conjured a four-directional cross, which began glowing from around her with her in the center. For her enemies, the cross harmed them, but Divine Judgement would heal her allies instead.
The last imperial trooper was dealt with by Ace. His cards cut the enemy soldier's arms and legs to immobilize him, allowing Nine to finish him off by stabbing the Imperial Trooper in the back, piercing his heart.
"That appears to be the last of them for now," Queen said, adjusting her glasses.
Queen was seventeen years old with long black hair, purple eyes wearing glasses, and the traditional uniform worn by female Class Zero members.
"Nah, we'll run into more of them. But if those imperial soldiers want to die so badly, then sure I'll help them, yo," Nine replied with a confident grin.
Nine was the same age as Queen, but his imposing stature befitted his personality. His appearance was disheveled, matching his messy blonde hair. Nine had blue eyes, a tanned complexion, and wore his Class Zero uniform open, revealing a black shirt underneath.
"Maybe, but we're close to the Arena," Ace pointed out as the group boarded an elevator to reach the top where the courtyard of the city's magic academy laid.
Ace was sixteen years old with blonde hair and blue eyes. Although he wore the same uniform as the other boys of his class, the only difference was that he carried a belt with a pouch for his deadly playing cards.
"We better be ready to face heavy opposition when we reach the Arena," Seven cautioned as the elevator neared the top.
"Lelouch did warn it would be very likely the Crystal Jammer in the Arena would be heavily defended," Jack added.
Nine shrugged off the warning, "Doesn't matter. I'll take the imperial forces on!"
Upon reaching the top of the elevator, the group arrived at Fountain Courtyard, but an unexpected sight greeted them.
Ace and the others happened upon two cadets from Akademeia battling against soldiers and monsters they have never seen before.
The first noticeable cadet was a young man of seventeen with medium-length black hair and green eyes. His uniform was identical to those of Class Zero. With the exception that his cape was indigo blue, indicating he was from Class Second, a class whose students specialize as a frontline offensive fighter. The young man's weapons were a pair of rapier weapons with drill-like blades.
His companion fighting to support him was a young girl of the same age with red eyes with shoulder-length brown hair. She wore the same uniform as the other female cadets. The only notable differences were thigh-high back socks and a pink cape. The girl's pink mantle identified her as a member of Class Seventh, whose cadets specialize in Healing Magic. The young woman's weapons were a pair of twin daggers, which seemed almost large enough to be considered small swords.
Their enemies were not Imperial Troopers, but instead enemies they had never seen before.
These soldiers were mechanical with a humanoid body. Their glowing red eyes and robotic movements cemented the fact they were machines. Their bodies were covered in armor plating, especially along the shoulders and waist with a layered armored helmet.
Among the mechanical troopers were black inky creatures with yellow eyes. Although Class Zero had faced monsters during their training, these new creatures differed from anything they had seen.
"We need to help them," Ace said, using his cards to lead his fellow cadets to attack the enemies and defend the other cadets.
Intervening to help the cadet with the twin swords, Ace cast a protection spell to protect the cadet from being overwhelmed. Queen and Nine went to the other female cadet to assist her while Seven and Jack joined Ace.
Nine charged the Magitek Infantryman attacking the expressionless robot soldier with his spear. The infantryman dodged Nine's first attack by stepping back before attempting to counter-attack with its sword. Nine quickly closed the gap striking the robotic soldier across the chest, knocking it back. Nine tried again, but this time he aimed for the robot's neck striking a gap between the armor, allowing him to behead it by impaling his spear through the robot's neck.
"Nine, look out!" Queen called out.
Nine retreated just in time when a trio of the black inky creatures attempted to attack him. Nine swiftly counterattacked by slashing all three at once, causing the Heartless to evaporate into a dark mist.
"None of you bucket heads aren't taking me down, yo," Nine declared before rushing to attack the next mechanical trooper.
"What your left, Nine," Jack called out as he depraved a Magitek Infantryman of its arms before beheading it.
"Look out; their arms have hidden weapons in them," the girl with the pink cape warned.
The right arm of a Magitek Infantryman began to unfold, revealing a hidden weapon, an unusual rifle-like weapon. The machine initially aimed at Jack, but it changed targets aiming at Queen and the girl with the pink cape. The rifle fired, releasing a destructive projectile that moved faster than lightning, and it would've struck both Queen and the other girl.
Thankfully at the last moment, Queen and the girl both cast wall, conjuring a double-layered wall of magic to shield themselves from the deadly projectile.
The projectile nearly shattered the double-layered magical wall, but it held, saving both Queen and the unnamed girl. Jack quickly ensured it couldn't fire another shot by cutting the enemy machine down by decapitating it. Ace noticed some of the other enemy machines began switching to their hidden weapons. In response, Ace used his cards to disable the enemy machines before they could fire. Queen wasn't idle, and neither was the other girl standing with her as the two rejoined the battle.
Meanwhile, Jack had finished cutting down another Magitek Infantryman before another Heartless tried to attack him.
The Heartless shrunk into the ground to evade, but it predictably tried to attack Jack from behind.
Jack effortlessly tracked the Heartless as it moved behind him, and once the inky creature emerged, Jack took its head. Two more Heartless converged upon Jack, but their movements were slow and predictable enough for Jack to dispatch them with masterful sword swings. Once Jack had finished off the Heartless, he turned to eliminate more Magitek Infantrymen. Jack quickly claimed another kill by stabbing one through the back, piercing its red core located in its chest.
"Thunder magic seems to work the best against them," the young girl with a pink cape announced.
"Let's try it," Nine replied as he cast thunder, releasing a slight discharge of lightning bolts around himself.
The lightning struck Magitek Soldiers, causing their movements to be slowed and even stalled, but it was clear it had damaged them. Mainly as smoke was rising from their joints, but not washing the chance, Nine used his spear to eliminate them.
Seven used her whip blade to seize an enemy soldier, dragging it into the line of fire of another Magitek Infantryman firing its hidden weapon. The shot destroyed the captive soldier, but Seven mainly was okay. Thanks to Ace's timely Protect spell, Seven endured the worst of the explosion that resulted from the soldier's destruction. Seven promptly returned the favor by cutting down the Magitek Soldier before it could fire another shot.
Around the same time, Ace, Queen, and Nine finished off the last of the enemy soldiers and Heartless having cleared the courtyard of them.
"That's the last of them," Queen commented, but she still kept her sword ready.
"Thank you for helping us back there," the girl said, grateful for the assistance.
"We should thank you for telling us about their hidden weapons and their weaknesses," Ace replied.
"Of course," the girl replied before realizing she overlooked something. "My name is Rem, Rem Tokimiya. His name is Machina."
"I am Ace," Ace said, introducing himself. "And this is Nine, Seven, Jack, and Queen."
As Rem met with Ace's friends, Rem's friend Machina Kunagiri was curious about which class they were.
"Red cloaks," Machina muttered before realization dawned on him. "Wait, it couldn't be?"
Machina had heard rumors of another class overseen directly by the Sorcery Division of the Dominion, kept separate and hidden from the rest of the academy. He hadn't paid those rumors much mind, but seeing their red capes on top of being able to use their magic even with a hammer field close by was proof those rumors were creditable.
"Are you guys from Class Zero?"
"Yes, we are," Ace replied.
"You guys are real!?" Rem remarked, clearly surprised.
"We are real, but right we need to hurry. We have to destroy the Crystal Jammer in the Arena. It's the only way to save the kingdom; the longer we delay, the more lives are lost," Queen warned.
"It's probably under heavy guard," Machina commented.
"Most likely, but the jammer's effects will be the stronger, the closer we get," Ace cautioned. "Will you two be alright fighting whatever we face without magic?"
"We'll manage as you said; we need to stop that Jammer," Rem said without hesitation.
"Let's go then," Ace said as everyone followed him to the Arena.
Unknown to the Ace and the others, another group had been quietly observing them from above. Watching from an open window overlooking the courtyard was a pair of young men wearing black clocks with silver drawstrings. Their hoods were down, revealing their faces, the oldest between the two had messy white hair, pale green eyes, and pasty pale skin. The younger of the pair had short dark brown hair and blue eyes with a healthier skin tone.
"And off they go to face the Crystal Jammer and the l'Cie Qun'mi, the one responsible for creating the Jammer and operating it," the older of the pair commented.
"Class Zero wins, don't they?"
The older of the two nodded, "Yes, they do, which will prove to Marshall Cid that we are right about events."
"So what would happen next, Nagito?"
Nagito Komaeda leaned back with a thoughtful expression on his face before answering.
"The members of Class Zero we have just seen will defeat the Crystal Jammer and Qun'mi after a slightly drawn-out battle. Once they summon Odin to aid them, that should quicken the battle. The invasion will fail, and the Milites Empire will be forced to withdraw. However, the Empire's blitz into the Dominion of Rubrum's territories has allowed the Empire to seize almost all of the Dominion's territory. By the end of the day, Rubrum will have only this city left. So they'll begin preparing to send out the cadets to replace all of the soldiers they lost to retake it," Nagito explained.
"That only happened because all of the soldiers defending the other towns and cities belonging to the Dominion abandoned them to save their capital," the younger teen said.
Nagito nodded in confirmation, "That's exactly right, Shinji."
Shinji Ikari gazed down at the damage the forces of the Milites Empire had left in their wake. He had some serious reservations about the methods his mentor, the Supreme Commander, uses towards his goal. His goal was noble from a particular perspective, but his means were extreme from Shinji's perspective.
Still, his management style and how he treats the people under him are different from Gendo's.
In his world, Shinji was abandoned by his father following the death of his mother when he was four. Then with no warning when he was fourteen, Shinji was summoned to his father's organization. He had no idea what it was for, but Shinji wanted to reconnect with his father, so he went.
Instead, that path led Shinji down a hard and traumatizing road.
And knowing it would've been worse had he stayed only made his decision to join the Supreme Commander easier. He had personally invited Shinji to join upon discovering his ability to wield the Keyblade, which would give him an escape from the future that would've waited for him.
"Are you alright, Shinji?" Nagito asked, noticing Shinji was spaced out.
"Huh," Shinji said, realizing he had spaced out a bit.
"Thinking about back home?"
Shinji nodded before explaining, "Yes, I was."
"Don't worry about it; you have avoided the future the Supreme Commander revealed to you. I knew my upbringing had its ups and downs, but your life is just tragic, especially after the more time you spent as an EVA pilot. But here you are," Nagito remarked as he folded his arms.
"Yeah, I know..."
The conversation was interrupted by Nagito receiving a message from his communicator.
"What is it?" Shinji asked as Nagito examined the image he received.
"It's a message from Oriko," Nagito answered before smiling at the image. "How lucky we are because we've found another Keyblade Wielder. Unlike the one we have been watching, this one has realized his abilities."
Shinji said nothing, although Nagito was odd, sometimes he was a good friend.
"It's just as the Supreme Commander said. With the balance between light and darkness disrupted, more Keyblade Wielders are emerging; imagine the hope to be born from them!"
"Right," Shinji replied, saying nothing more.
Nagito was a good friend, but even Shinji acknowledged he could be odd at times.
Meanwhile, Lelouch was supervising the battle, continuing to issue orders to his friends. Cinque smashed the head of a Magitek Trooper, but as its body collapsed onto the ground, a black mist escaping the remains.
"Eww," Cinque commented, checking her mace. "I hope I didn't get that creepy stuff on me."
A lightning bolt shot past Cinque destroying a Heartless that had leaped out of the shadows to attack her.
"This isn't a good time to be worrying about your mace," Lelouch scolded. "You can ask someone to clean it for you later."
"What was that thing?" Deuce asked, following behind Lelouch.
"I don't know, but they accompanied the enemy soldiers. But, for now, let's assume they are some new weapon the Empire has. We can figure out what they are after the battle," Lelouch replied.
"Well, we got a lot of those things coming," Trey reported from his new vantage point. "I am counting more than five dozen rushing across the main bridge!"
"Has the enemy gathered most of their forces on the other side?"
"They have," Trey confirmed before adding. "It looks like they are establishing a base on the other side. They are also preparing troops to march across the bridge after those creatures. And..."
"And," Lelouch asked over the COMM.
"It looks like they wiped out a large number of Dominion soldiers on the other side. I see signs of a battle, but I couldn't accurately tell how many Dominion soldiers were involved," Tray reported.
"I see, in the case, it's time to use it before we are overrun," Lelouch said before gathering magical power into his Keyblade.
"You're not going to unleash that thing," Deuce asked.
"Do it!" Sice called out eagerly as she cleaved another Heartless in two.
"Everyone, get back," Lelouch called out as he funneled more power into his weapon. "Heed my call, come forth and wash away my enemies with tidal waves!"
Plunging his Keyblade into the ground unleashed the built-up magical power. A magic circle appeared around Lelouch before waves of ocean water materialized before surging forward. The waves consumed the approaching Heartless and enemy soldiers. They were helpless as they were sweaty up in the surging waters before the water flowed onto the bridge leading out of Akademeia. The waves consumed any unfortunate Milites soldier caught in the advancing waves. Still, thanks to Lelouch concentrating on controlling the waves, he avoided catching any surviving Dominion Legionnaires in his tsunami.
Emerging from the waters surrounding the bridge was an enormous blue-scaled sea serpent. Tidal waves began forming near the several-mile-long bridge that connected the capital to the mainland. The waves washed over the bridge dragging any enemies into the sea. That was right before the Great Sea Serpent Leviathan began conjuring an immense tsunami, creating a wave that was six miles high.
It shouldn't be possible, but yet it was happening before the terrified enemy soldiers along the shoreline. Those not killed instantly by the impacting tidal wave were dragged out to sea, where they drowned, with the rest dragged into the ocean depths by Leviathan's waves.
Once it was over, Lelouch released his hold on his weapon, but he nearly stumbled and fell from exhaustion.
"I got you," Deuce said before playing Hymn of Healing to ease Lelouch's exhaustion.
"Thanks, Deuce," Lelouch replied as he rested to allow his magical energy to replenish itself.
"I think you wiped out a huge chunk of the enemy army," Trey offered modesty.
"A chunk, he got most of them and their reinforcements!" Cater exclaimed.
Lelouch merely grinned, "If Ace and the others are on schedule, they should be at the last Crystal Jammer. Once it's gone, the Dominion's forces can mount a counterattack, but with the loss of their reinforcements that will further push the battle into our favor."
"Well, I haven't seen anyone come at us, so maybe you got them all. Kinda boring," Sice commented.
"No reason to relax our guard," Eight cautioned as he adjusted his gloves. "There could be stragglers leftover."
"He's right," King said, taking a moment to check his twin pistols.
"Until we hear otherwise, we should assume we can be attacked by hostiles at any time," Lelouch advised as he felt his strength return.
"A wise suggestion," a new voice said in agreement.
Everyone sprang to alert before they started looking for the source of the new voice that spoke.
"Up there," Trey shouted, frying an arrow.
"What a superb shot, but that won't be enough," the new voice said as she used her weapon to deflect it.
The deflection did trigger a small explosion revealing the unknown girl's hiding place, which was the second floor of a ruined house. She leaped through the explosion and out of the demolished room she had been watching Class Zero from, landing gracefully in the street before the group.
The girl was around the same age as Lelouch and the others, but she wore an all-white outfit consisting of a ball-gown-like dress and long white sleeves. She had long ash-blonde hair and green eyes wearing a white hat atop her head.
"Class Zero, you are every bit the elite warriors I have been told you are," the blonde girl said, dusting herself off before looking at Lelouch. "However, our information doesn't mention a Keyblade wielder among your roster."
Lelouch assumed a defensive stance while Cinque, Sice, and Jack readying their weapons while Eight took a fighting stance. The others slowly spread out, waiting for an opportunity to attack.
"However, all of you against me hardly seems fair, so why not I offer something else to fight in my place," the girl replied before snapping her fingers with her free hand.
Appearing from a dark portal that opened in the sky above, a giant creature standing almost fifteen meters tall was dropped. It landed between the mysterious girl and Class Zero; it was a gigantic creature wearing purple armor identical to that of a knight. Its limbs didn't seem to be attached to its bell-shaped body, but rather some unseen power connected them.
"This might be a little more to your level," the girl commented before a dark power surrounded her, and she vanished from sight.
"What kind of monster is that," Deuce asked, but Lelouch had no clue.
"It's dead, that's what," Sice shouted before boldly charging the Guard Armor.
Sice leaped up to strike the monster, but the Heartless began spinning its torso and arms, batting Sice away. Lelouch joined in, as did Cater and Trey, who unleashed a ranged attack upon it. Cater's bullets hit their mark but didn't seem to do any damage. Trey's magical arrows didn't appear to do much better. Still, Lelouch's Thundaga knocked the Guard Armor back, causing its movements to pause.
Seething and eager to deliver payback for that hit, Sice was quick to counterattack. Cinque was quick to join in as she struck one of the legs of the Guard Armor. The Guard Armor's leg was sent flying into a building, but Cinque was confused by how the rest of it didn't follow.
"Deuce, look out," Lelouch shouted when he saw one of the Guard Armor's arms flying at her.
King fired upon it, changing its course, but it gave Lelouch enough time to get ahead and use his Keyblade to split the limb in half.
The other hand tried to attack Cater, but Eight jumped into action to intercept it. With one magically empowered punch, they slammed the hand into the ground before a dozen more rapid-fire punches destroyed it. Lelouch hurried to join Sice and Cinque as they attacked the main body, now without its arms. The black-haired youth leaped into the cutting into the Guard Armor while Cinque took out the other leg, and Sice buried her scythe into its head.
Unleashing a blast of magical energy Lelouch delivered the killing blow in tandem with Trey and Cater as they aimed for the head of the Guard Armor.
As the master disintegrated into shadow particles, a glowing heart-like object emerged from it. The newly released heart took to the sky before vanishing from sight.
"What was that creature," Trey inquired.
"So the know-it-all doesn't know what it is," Sice said mockingly. "It was a monster that needed to be killed."
"Yes, but I never saw a creature like that before. And what was it that came out of it?" Trey wanted to know, though no one knew the correct answer.
"I don't know, but that woman in white probably knows," Lelouch remarked, curious what the creature was.
Around the same time aboard the lead Milites Empire airship, a communications office had just received an alarming report.
"Ninetail is down. I repeat Ninetail, is down! We've lost contact with Qun'mi!" The communication's office replied.
"Impossible; how could we lose the Crystal Jammer, especially when a Secundus l'Cie was guarding it?!" A white-uniformed officer of the Empire commented in disbelief.
"The Vermilion Bird Crystal has been fully resorted, magical readings in all sectors," the communication's officer reported before adding with growing alarm. "Wait, at point sixty-eight, we have sighted a Vermilion Bird l'Cie! Repeat we have confirmed an enemy l'Cie joining the battle!"
"We've just lost contact with the 204th and 208th," another communication officer reported.
"Get our men out of there," Qator commanded as he made his way to a communication console before using it to broadcast withdraw orders. "Attention all units in Dominion Territory; halt all military operations and withdraw at once!"
"Yes, sir, all forces retreat! I repeat all units retreat," the communication officer replied before helping to relay Qator's orders.
Using the same console, Qator sent out a long-range communication back to the capital.
"This is Trailblazer to HQ; code 666 is now in effect. I repeat, code 666 is now in effect!"
"It might be a little cliched," Ardyn said, approaching Qator from behind. "But needless to say, I told you so."
"Everything happened as you predicted it would, other than our casualties being much higher than you had told us. Class Zero and their ability to use magic independent of their crystal are true," Qator said before his face paled. "That means everything else you have told us is true."
"Yes, so what will the Empire do now?" Ardyn asked with a sly smile.
"Marshal Cid Aulstyne may just agree to your offer then," Qator replied.
"Very good," Ardyn replied before adding. "Supreme Commander Partas will be so glad to hear that."
"Lord Ardyn," a voice from behind called out. "I bring news of an unforeseen element, which could explain the higher body count."
"Ah Oriko, my dear, how kind of you to join us. But I would make sure your best friend doesn't find out you went to the battlefield," Ardyn said jokingly to Oriko Mikuni.
"What was this element," Qator demanded before Oriko handed him a photo.
"It seems Class Zero had one more member than they were supposed to. A Keyblade wielder," Oriko answered with a smile.
"Well, this is an unexpected development," Ardyn said, clearly surprised by the news. "That would explain how such a powerful summon was called without a sacrifice. "Class Zero never had a Keyblade Wielder in their ranks, which means that fellow is not of this world."
"How did a wielder of the Keyblade from another world end up with the Dominion?"
"Good question, but we'll look into it," Ardyn replied.
"Shall I pass it along to Supreme Commander Partas?" Oriko inquired.
"Yes, by all means, he'll be delighted to hear about another Keyblade Wielder."

More series to be added in the future might make too big of a list, but I will say some mecha series will appear like Sunrider. Since there are some other matters to be addressed.
The next chapter will explore what events led to Lelouch joining Class Zero and awakening the Keyblade. At the same time, I intend to focus on freshening out all of the characters I introduced before moving ahead with events and adding anyone else into the story. But rest assured, Lelouch won't be staying on Orience for more than a couple chapters or so.
The next matter to discuss will be the poll I have on my profile, but it serves more than one purpose.
Besides narrowing down potential romantic candidates for Lelouch, voting for certain choices will affect the story. For example, voting for certain characters will determine which series might see their world involved sooner than others. For the Final Fantasy Type 0 characters, the highest voted member of Class Zero, it will determine which one says with Lelouch as a permeant party member.
I'll eventually do a second round of voting after the poll. Still, I'll likely wait until Lelouch reaches the age of seventeen or eighteen before I begin any pairings with him. So it's going to be a while before that happens. I made Lelouch young in age to help manage the different series and events with plenty of proper breathing room to work with them all. Thereby without worrying about compressing too many events at once.
I look forward to your reviews and feedback, and I hope I finally succeeded this time.
I thank you all in advance.
