Silence. That was all that could be heard, minus the thundering of ionized plasma strikes amidst the barren landscape. Clouds of dust and glass cover the already dead terrain, reducing visibility to near nothingness. From these clouds emerges an armor clad warrior, painted in plasma burns and gashes. The warrior walks at a pace that would appear to be jogging to anyone ordinary, but considered walking speed for those of his kind. He continues forward, attempting to evade the ships that are burning scars onto the planet's surface. Prowling the empty wasteland, he searches for something-anything. He knows that these quiet moments of respite are the only breaks he will get. He knows that this planet will be his final resting place. Yet he continues forward, searching for anything that will quell the emptiness within him. This man is known as Noble Six, a spartan-III.

Six continues ahead at the same pace, carefully listening for anything amongst the ruins of the planet Reach. Covenant cruisers and carriers fly miles over head, scorching the planet's surface with beams of highly concentrated plasma. Meanwhile, their armies scour the untouched areas, hunting down survivors, if there were any. The silence provides no comfort, only serving to make Six more cautious, as he listens for the droning of a passing phantom, or banshee. Yet, there is nothing. He heeds every sound, every strike of the glassing beams, thinking he will make out the whining of a spirit, or wraith, or even the low tone of a patrolling ghost; yet, he hears nothing.

The spartan maintains his pace, accompanied only by his thoughts and his instincts. He reminisces of his blue armored commander, a spartan by the name of Carter, and one of the first things said to him. "We're a team. That lone wolf stays behind."

The phrase repeats in the spartan's head, as he reminisces on the deaths of each member of his team. He views from the vacuum of space as Noble Five, also known as Jorge-052, detonates a slipspace bomb inside a Covenant supercarrier. He recalls the sudden death of Noble Two, Catherine-B320, as a crystal from a Needle Rifle rips clean through her helmet. He thinks back to the departure of Noble Three, Jun-A266, as the pelican flies westward, both the spartan and Doctor Halsey in tow, their fates unknown to him. Six recollects the death of Noble One, also known as Carter-A329. He watches as his commander ploughs his damaged pelican straight into a scarab, clearing the way for him and Noble Four to deliver the package. Six halts and looks back in the direction of the Aszod Ship-breaking Yards. He harks back to the final confident moments of Emile-A239-Noble Four. Impaled by a Zealot, the spartan screams "I'm ready! How about you?" as he stabs the kukri knife into its neck, ensuring that his killer meets the same fate as him. Six unsheathes the knife of his fallen comrade. He thinks back to all the soldiers and ODST's he battled with across Reach. Everyone of them is most likely dead. Men and women, giving everything, including their lives, in a desperate struggle to stop the covenant war machine. The spartan is brought out of his thoughts by the distant cracking of ionized plasma. He sheathes the knife, and forges ahead, burying his thoughts in favor of his instincts.

Six knows that he cannot win this fight. He acknowledges that he will die on this planet, with no one to remember who he was. He understands that he will perish, with his vengeance for his family unfulfilled. But Six will fight to the bitter end. He will make sure that every covenant soldier sent his way will feel the pain of every human life brutally ended by the covenant onslaught.

After all, spartans never die, they're just missing in action.

Author's Note

Hello everyone, and thank you for taking the time to read the intro to my story. As of now, this is my first time writing a piece of fanfiction, and I must say, it feels great. I have no constraints on what I write, unlike the informational, argumentative, and narrative essays I often write for my classes. That being said, they have aided me greatly in improving upon the development of my writings. If you've seen the title you know that I plan on bringing this story into the Redo of Healer universe. That being said I plan on excluding a great deal of "plot" from that show. Six is a spartan-ruthless, cunning, and lethal. The only scenes in this book even pertaining to those scenes in Redo of Healer will most likely be the point where he breaks his xenophobia. I want this story to highlight the dark and depressing mindset that spartans live in. We rarely get to see these moments in Halo lore, with only a few characters given an extremely in depth look, such as Tom and Lucy's damaged psyches, and Kurt Ambrose's guilt ridden conscience. Right now, I'm currently thinking and scrapping ideas on how Noble Six will make his way to that universe, as I will exclude Keyaruga and his redo of the world. This story will focus on Noble Six's character development in a world not haunted by the threat of the Covenant, but the threat of its own turmoil and evil. I will have Six rebuild himself as he exhibits xenophobia of the demi-humans and demons, which would make quite a bit of sense considering the Covenant's slaughter of humanity. The UNSC and UEG would most likely have Warhammer 40K levels of xenophobia at this point in time. I will have him work his way up as he fights to cut off the head of the corrupt empire. I will also do my best to keep the fight scenes as entertaining as possible. Mjolnir armor and the undersuit would most likely be impervious to any medieval grade weaponry. That being said, magic will be a huge threat to the well being of Six, as he has no direct counter to it except for his shields. I will attempt to have him play to his greatest strengths, and compensate for his weaknesses. After all, he is a spartan-III, not a spartan-II. If you've actually taken the time to read all this thank you for using your time to read this, and if you have any suggestions, please leave them in the review sections. Seriously, I'm wracking my mind trying to think of how I will make this story as entertaining and dynamic as possible, without taking my readers down a depressing rollercoaster. Many points will have to be considered, as he will not have Flare as an ally. Setsuna will become an ally further down the road, as six will associate the demi-humans and demons with the Covenant. All in all, it will be a huge rework of the show's plot and story.

Once again, thank you for taking the time out of your day to read this, and I hope you have a great day.
