Hi! I'm Dawn, and this is my second story. This is an AU fic set roughly 10 years after Revenge of the Sith, in which Vader finds Obi-Wan on Tatooine. I hope you like it!

Tatooine was cold at night, like many other deserts, which was a relief; he'd have been boiling in the day. However, that did nothing to stop the raging sandstorm that swept through the barren landscape.

Darth Vader had always hated sand. It was rough and coarse and irritating, and it got everywhere, so it didn't make sense that he was on a planet filled with it.

Vader really had no idea why he was on his home planet, or why he was walking through a sandstorm in the middle of the night. But there was something on Tatooine that unsettled him - it wasn't just his, no, Anakin Skywalker's past, it was something else. Something… familiar.

Vader had tried to forget about it, to forget about the horrible planet where Anakin Skywalker had grown up, to ignore the strange feeling he was getting.

But he couldn't, so here he was, in a wasteland filled with the substance he hated most, in the middle of nowhere, at midnight.

The Emperor wouldn't be pleased that he had abandoned his work because of a mere feeling, but he would think of something.

If he was anyone else, he would have been lost by now, but so far, the force was guiding him.

Suddenly, he saw a flash of light in the distance. There shouldn't have been anyone around here, but someone was there.

Vader reached out through the force, and he almost missed it, but he felt a faint presence. He reached out to it, but whoever this person was possessed impenetrable shields, and he just couldn't get through them. He or she was obviously a force user, and a powerful one at that.

He continued walking through the sand, and soon he saw a flickering light again. He had almost reached it now, and he could see a fire, and a cloaked figure sitting near it.

He moved close, but then the figure turned and looked at him, and Vader took a step back.

He saw the face that he couldn't forget, the face that had haunted him for ten years, the face of the person who left him burning in lava, who was the reason for his constant agony.

Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Obi-Wan stood up and dusted the sand of his jedi robes. "Hello Anakin."

Vader growled, "That name means nothing to me. Anakin Skywalker is dead."

"Have you come to kill me?" he asked, looking tired - too tired. The years clearly hadn't been kind to him: his hair was graying and he looked extremely frail. His robes looked grimy and dirty. Then again, Vader couldn't say much about looks, considering he was a 2-meter tall cyborg wearing pitch-black armor.

Obi-Wan was right. There was nothing more Vader wanted than to kill him right now, to drive his lightsaber through his heart and watch the life fade out of him.

"Yes," he said, and ignited his blood red lightsaber.

In response, Obi-Wan ignited his own lightsaber, which, in contrast, was a bright blue that illuminated the dark night.

They stood there for a few moments, staring at each other, waiting to see who would make the first move. Growing impatient, Vader surged forward and struck.

Two blades met in the midnight sky, one red and one blue. Vader drew back and slashed at his stomach, and Obi-Wan effortlessly blocked it.

The duel went on, and while Vader tried everything to kill him, he just defended, and blocked, and did nothing to attack him.

Vader growled with rage. The fight that he had been waiting for for 10 years had finally arrived, and his former master wouldn't even fight back.

He drew on his anger, and let the darkness envelop him. His attacks grew more and more frequent, and he could sense that Obi-Wan was struggling to defend.

Finding an opening, Vader slashed at his right arm. The severed arm fell to the ground along with his lightsaber, and Obi-Wan screamed in agony.

Before Obi-Wan could move a muscle, Vader thrust his lightsaber through his chest.

To Vaders surprise, his body glowed and slowly faded. He looked around, but his body was nowhere to be seen.

He reached out in the force, and he felt it: Obi-Wan Kenobi was dead.

Vader had expected to feel satisfied, to be glad that his greatest enemy had finally fallen. But all he felt was … burnt out.
