Oh boy oh boy. This just kinda happened. There's not much for me to say about this but I do have an update on things at the bottom of this.
Have fun reading this little ficlet. I might write a second chapter if it's well received. Just to be clear if you didn't read the Summary, and more than a few people probably won't. This is a No Fall AU, or an alternate universe where the fall of beacon never happened.
~The One True Ammy
Ruby stood wide eyed in the Beacon Infirmary looking at Weiss and Yang, who had broken each others Aura's and then continued to fight for some stupid reason that they refused to tell her. They had told Miss Goodwitch under that steely glare of hers, but they refused to tell her no matter what, even if she used her Puppy Dog Eyes.
Weiss had ended up stabbing through Yang's left shoulder and Yang had broken Weiss's right leg in the heat of their fight, Miss Goodwitch had let them off the hook on Headmaster Ozpin's command, saying that the week they would spend there was punishment enough. With her piece said and some obvious displeasure at not punishing them further, she left the room muttering 'It's that crow and lion all over again'. It didn't make any sense to her but it must have some connection to what Yang and Weiss did.
Ruby pouted after Weiss and Yang deflected her questions again and left the infirmary with one last pouty glare at the two, causing them to flinch slightly at her obvious anger, but they remained firm and refused to say anything. When Ruby finally left the room for real, Weiss and Yang looked at each other for a while, before Yang finally broke the silence once she was sure Ruby was really gone and wasn't waiting by the door for them to talk.
"I screwed up didn't I?" Yang questioned herself.
"We both did Yang." Weiss spoke up, causing Yang to look her in the eyes rather than just stare at her. "While I admit that your overreaction did start this, I should not have escalated in response to it. It's both of our faults that we are here."
Yang stared at Weiss like she had grown a second head. The number of times Weiss admitted she was in the wrong since they had become a team could be counted on one hand.
"...Heh." Yang let out a small laugh as she laid back and rested, Weiss didn't say anything else and did the same.
~~~Team RWBY Dorm Room, Three Days Later~~~
Ruby laid on her bed, bored out of her mind. The past two days without Yang and Weiss were quiet and boring. Blake was taking advantage of the silence to read uninterrupted when not in class or training, and Team JNPR was out supervising a first year Team on their mission to one of the nearby settlements. Team CFVY was also out on a mission with two other third year teams, it was to an outer settlement that had reported a much higher than normal amount of grimm.
This left Ruby with a large amount of time to herself that she didn't know what to do with, the second year student having spent almost all of the last year and a half since joining Beacon with her team, team JNPR, or team CFVY. She had also been barred from the infirmary by the nurse unless she was the one injured, all because she kept coming in to try to get answers out of Yang and Weiss.
Ruby sat up as she heard the door to Team RWBY's dorm open up and Blake walked in clutching a trio of books firmly to her chest as if her life depended on it. With a sigh of relief, Blake closed the door and leaned against it, acting as if she had just gotten away with sneaking around beacon at night again. With a burning desire to do anything to relieve the boredom she called out to Blake.
"Got anything good to read Blake?" Ruby asked, startling the overly cautious Cat Faunus, causing her to jump slightly and drop her books. "Oh! Sorry Blake, I thought you knew I was here." Even Ruby didn't believe her weak defence to startling the easily scared Blake.
"...It's fine Ruby, will you leave me alone if I give you something to read?" Blake's voice was monotone but pleading, as if she desperately wanted to be alone but didn't want to be overly rude about it. Ruby knew because she always did this whenever she got new books. The team would normally go along with it because Blake rarely asked for anything else
"I guess that I could hang out in Team JNPR's dorm, they did ask us to take care of it while they were gone." Ruby mused as Blake hurriedly grabbed a book out of the pile she had next to her desk and tossed it to Ruby and practically tossed her out of the dorm. With a blank stare at the door to her room and a book in her hand, Ruby turned around and walked across the hall to Team JNPR's dorm, and after taking a moment to look at the title of the book she walked in.
"Ninja's of Love, isn't that the book that those three made sure I couldn't read no matter what last year?" Ruby questioned the air around her as she laid back on Nora's bed, the orange haired girl having said that she could use it if she ever spent the night in JNPR's dorm while they were on a mission. Her curiosity only grew as she remembered the lengths rest of Team RWBY went to keep her from reading it. As Ruby opened the book, certain people all across Remnant felt a chill pass along their spines for some reason they couldn't identify.
~~~Five Hours Later, With Blake~~~
A sigh of bliss escaped Blake's lips as she put a bookmark in the book and closed it. She let out a small groan of discomfort as she stood and stretched. She placed the closed book onto the night table next to her bed and moved to the pile of books at the end of the bed, seeking out her favorite book for her 'private time'. A sense of despair slowly grew as she went through the pile, book after book was checked until she had no more to look at. Her cat ears flattened and let out a low whine as she realized where the book was.
With a sinking feeling of despair Blaske ran to the door to take the book from Ruby, Hoping and praying to all the gods and demons she had heard that Ruby hadn't read too far into the book.
~~~With Ruby, Four hours after she started reading~~~
Ruby's eyes were wide and her face was as red as the strawberries she loved so much. It was fine at first, the story was good and the characters were well made. The action was pretty great and the first five chapters had explained the setting of the book as well. However, the sixth chapter was when the story got... spicy. The main character, Hanjo, had received what the book called a 'blowjob' from the woman he had just saved, and it had gone into great detail on the process. Ruby had almost thrown the book away at that point but both her curiosity on the matter and the thought of returning to the boredom had stopped her. So with a morbid curiousity she continued on, expanding her formerly small knowledge of sex.
It was chapter twelve of the novel that had her in the state she was currently in, Hanjo had just been rejected by Haruka, the woman he had been pursuing the love of because she was in a relationship with his childhood friend, Mei. After a small exchange of words between the girls, he was invited into what the book called a 'threesome' by Haruka and Mei. Like the blowjob scene it also went into great detail about the threesome, including what happened after Hanjo had gone to sleep after exhausting himself to please the two women, who kissed and licked each other... down there afterwards. Ruby was too embarrassed to even think of the words they called the lower regions of the characters.
'Girls can do that too?' Ruby was experiencing a form of awakening that she never thought she was capable of. Even after her father had given her a barebones talk on the topic of sex at fourteen, she had never felt any sort of attraction to boys like he had said she would, causing her to dismiss some of what he had said. He had never told her about girls liking other girls, and Yang dodged the topic of relationships like it was life or death.
She thought on the interactions between Haruka and Mei before the sex scene, and for some reason her brain started to compare the two to herself and Weiss. Some of what Weiss had been doing recently matched the early interactions between Haruka and Mei. A thought hit her like a truck and mind latched onto it.
'Does Weiss like me?' As soon as that thought finished her mind imagined her and Weiss in the same situation as Haruka and Mei, where they had been licking each other. Her face flushed even deeper, putting even the ripest tomato to shame. Ruby set the open book face down as her mind began to imagine all sorts of situations, each one featuring her and Weiss without fail, even when she tried to think about others.
Almost an hour later her mind finally calmed down and she realized that she liked girls, and she may possibly kinda sorta maybe be in love with her Partner.
Blake burst into JNPR's dorm with a panicked expression and saw Ruby laying on Nora's bed with a slowly clearing up blush. Ruby sat up slowly when she heard Blake burst into the room. Ruby met Blake's pleading gaze and with a small exchange broke any and all hope she had.
"Blake...?" Ruby's subdued voice broke through the panic in Blake's mind, and Blake composed herself before shakily answering.
"Y-yeah Ruby?" Blake's hope was clear in her voice, not that Ruby noticed in her current state of mind.
"I think I like girls." Ruby's bluntness and Blake's frayed state of mind left her unable to handle the stress anymore and with a whine of distress, she fainted.
"Oh... I thought that would happen." Ruby slowly got up and walked over to Blake. With a small grunt of effort she picked her up and moved to the door, intent on bringing Blake to the infirmary, as she had hit her head pretty hard on the ground when she fainted, and her Aura definitely wasn't up when it happened. Ninja's of Love lay forgotten on Nora's bed as Ruby carried Blake out of the room, and would remain so until the next day. Ruby remembered about it after classes and finished reading it and would return it to Blake's pile of books, where it would lay innocently when it's owner returned a few days later alongside Weiss and Yang.
I want to apologise for the long wait for Altering Fate, I'm having some issues on the ending of chapter six that's keeping me from finishing it.
I'm also pretty busy IRL right now. I do have my days off but I usually spend them relaxing first and then doing a bit of writing. That combined with me trying and failing to write the end of chapter six is causing a huge delay in that aspect.
I've only recently decided that struggling to write something my mind doesn't want to is a bad decision and have started working on other projects such as this one again.
I also upgraded to a new and much better phone a few days ago so I've spent a good portion of my time playing League of Legends: Wild Rift and Honkai Impact Third. I've refrained from downloading Genshin Impact because if I do I'll get no work done whatsoever. I may be getting Dead By Daylight Mobile as well, so that could eat into even more of my time, who knows.
Anyway, here's to hoping I have some success in the ending of chapter six of Altering Fate soon.
And also thanks for all of the PM's asking if I was okay. I am going to continue to write, as evident by this fic. But life isn't getting any easier for me over here.
Bye for now.
Ammy
