This is the story of Serena Nicole Swan and how her life went from being a normal fourteen-year-old to keeping the biggest secret of her life from her friends and family. Now, she wasn't always like this. No. This was an accident that made her become who she read about in the stories. She was now a monster – who still never found her true love – ever.

Before getting to know Serena and her life, there needs to be another story told, her parents' story. In this world, everyone sees in black, white, and grey until they meet their soulmates. Sometimes people don't ever get the chance to meet their soulmates, and so they marry for love, living in a colorless world. This world is not always in black and white, this was something that has been recent in the last 300 years. Before, everyone was able to see in color, so anyone who didn't have someone back then – can see in color. Though now, there was something that people had to go through. This was going to a long life now that color can only be seen by your true soul mate.

Charlie Swan met Renee Higginbotham one day at the La Push Beach. Charlie was hanging out with his friends who lived there while Renee was visiting Forks with her friends. It was love at first sight – yet – they could not see the colors, making it seem like they were going to be going against everything that they grew up to know. You should only marry your soulmate. If that day doesn't come and you want to marry for love you can, but you could be in the world of hurt down the line.

The wedding was simple, the time they were together was – well, difficult. Their first daughter, Isabella Marie Swan was born. Before Bella turned two, there was another child born, Serena Nicole Swan. Serena was the child that Renee really didn't want, but she didn't want to hurt Charlie's feeling as he was really excited to have another daughter. Of course, this was going to be harder for Renee, as she realized what was happening. What they said, was true. Falling out of love, and her soul crying out because she needed to be with the one who can make her see color.

As Renee dropped off Serena with the neighbors, as she wanted to escape with only the child she really wanted at first – Bella. Though when Serena was born, it was just a hassle to try and deal with two. Renee was the one person who only wanted to have a daughter – not two. She never told Charlie that she only wanted to have one. It's not that Renee hated Serena, it was more of the fact that, it wasn't deemed possible for them to take care of both children at once.

So, Renee left Forks, Washington and headed to California to live with her mother so she could go back to school to become a Kindergartner Teacher. It was during this time that Charlie was left with taking care of a two-month-old Serena. Charlie would take her down to La Push, where she would technically be raised, as she spent a lot time here before she would go off to Pre-School. The help of the Tribe there was very excited to have a little girl around. Most of the parents were actually hoping that she would become one of the boys imprintee.

Serena wasn't close to becoming part of their tribe like that, instead Sam Uley had marked her as Kin instead. There wasn't a love connection, it was more of:

"I have to protect her," Sam said as he told his father what he was feeling. "I just want to be there for her whenever she needs someone. Why is that?"

"It seems to me, that you are describing a Kin Bond between you and Serena." Joshua Uley told Sam.

The process was there. This is something that starts when the Vampires return. They must be back, or at least some of them. Without know who it is, or what is going on to make them come back. No one really knows who they are – or what they are doing. These Vampires make the werewolves come back. The protectors of La Push Beach. Now this is time to also protect anyone who comes down to La Push. The only ones who are not invited are the Cullen Vampire group. They are the ones who made a vow to never cross into their territory, just like how the werewolves won't cross into theirs.

The summers have come and go, and Charlie and told Renee that he wanted to see Bella for a few weeks in the summer, and that she should see Serena. Ever since Bella was ten they would switch the girls for three weeks in the summer time. It was until Bella was fourteen that she didn't want to do that anymore, that she didn't want to spend time in Washington during the summer. Instead, Bella suggested they go to California, because she wanted to spend some time together. Of course, they spent one day together and it was usually because they did dinner together.

Serena didn't like spending time with Renee, it wasn't that she was a bad mother, it was mostly because she felt, forgotten in a way. It's that Renee didn't really care, it's just that she preferred Bella over Serena. Bella was now sixteen and this was the last time she wanted to do this – moody teenager. They still did it because Serena was only fourteen. Now that they basically switched daughters, Renee sighed as she didn't want to be doing this. Though, when she was with Serena, she spotted someone. Her sight went from Black and Grey to color. She could finally see. She walked over to the guy, who also seemed to see in color as well.

"Hey, I'm Renee," She said to the guy.

"I'm Phil." He smiled at her.

At that point, it was just the two of them together. They've been living in such a dark world, that now that they could finally see, they were meant to be. This is where Renee went wrong, and where Charlie would never forgive her for. Serena was left alone, as Renee went to get coffee with Phil. This was something that they didn't want to wait. It had to happen now. Serena looked for her mother, but couldn't find her at all.

"Mom? Where did you go?" Serena called out in the crowded street.

"Are you lost?" Someone asked from the alleyway.

Serena looked over and spotted someone in the shade, though she didn't know what they were doing there, but maybe he saw her mother.

"Yeah, my mom. She was just here, and then she walked away from me."

"She probably found her soulmate. It happens where they forget about something, and they just want to be with their soulmate."

"Will you help me look for her?"

"I'll do more than that…"

He held out his hand for Serena to take. Something inside her was screaming her to run, but she couldn't move. She wanted to see her mother. She took his hand and he led her deeper into the alleyway, and into some rundown place. He – of course, didn't care about where this girls mother went, he just wanted to feed. Yes. This guy was a Vampire. Just, not the average one to read about online or in books. He didn't want Serena to freak out, so he knocked her out.

There in his arms laid the unconscious girl, though there was something else about her. Maybe instead of killing her, he would turn her into a Vampire to make her live with knowing never to trust someone again.

"You'll wish you ran instead of following me." He laughed as he bit into her, fed on her blood and then turned into her vampire. He of course, left her to wither in pain alone.

The next time Serena opened her eyes, she was staring at white walls, and machines beeping. The only thing she knew was that – she wished she died that day in the alley. She looked over and saw her father talking to a doctor. She started to move.

"Serena!" Charlie said as she ran over and grabbed her hand. Her skin felt cold against his own. "She's still cold."

"It will take a while for the medication to wear off and considering how long she was outside. The temperatures did drop." The doctor said, "Charlie, why don't you go on back to the hotel, and I'll watch over her."

"Thanks Dr. Cullen."

Serena watched her father leave as she looked at the Doctor. Who was he, and why did he give off the same vibes of that other guy from the Alleyway.

"Tell me….are you the same thing as that guy from the Alleyway…" Serena asked – though it didn't sound like a question.

"I am. But I want you to know, that you don't have to live the same way as he did. Drinking the blood of humans. Your father is bound to know your eye color will change. I hope you don't live in Sunny California."

"No. We live in Forks, Washington. The sun is hardly ever out." She admitted.

"Sounds like a place for me and my family."

"There's more of you?"

"Yes. It's me and my soulmate, plus a few others."

"You still found your soulmate even after becoming-"

"Yes, and I'm sure you will find yours."

"Was she human?"

"I'll tell you more when the time is right. For right now, you need to be careful. You can eat food, but you still need to drink blood, to sustain the thirst. Animal Blood will make your eyes seem natural."

"Okay. Thank you."

"Be careful. There are others who don't follow that, and if it ever comes around that you were turned into one, there will be trouble."

"What do you mean?"

"I can tell you more when we're in a safe place. This is not the place to be talking about anything like this."

The end is voice was soft, and it would've been hard to hear, if Serena didn't have the new senses that she had. This new life was going to be hard on her. She had to hide it from her mother – Renee – Serena couldn't help but feel angry at Renee. This was her fault! IF she didn't walk away from Serena, she would still be human! Though Serena knew she couldn't take her anger out on Renee, it wasn't all her fault. Part of the reason why Serena was the way she was because she allowed that man to take her away. Down into the Alley.

The days have passed, and Serena was able to go back home. Dr. Cullen had told her that he'll see her soon. Though Charlie didn't hear it, because Dr. Cullen muttered it under his breath. As Charlie and Serena got on the plane to head back – Charlie was expressing that he was pissed at Renee. It didn't matter as he knew that Renee would soon forget more about Serena as she was going to live her perfect life with her Soulmate and Bella.

Serena closed her eyes to pretend to be asleep as they took an early flight and she needed to try and be herself. Charlie was able to take a few extra days when they heard that Serena was hurt. Of course, the Police Department was okay with it – the ones who weren't okay with it was her friends at La Push. Sam was the one that was pissed off and it trigged his transformation. Everyone was shocked to see him transform as they thought it was too early. Though the stress of learning that the one he marked as Kin was hurt, would trigger it.

The one thing that bothered her was the legend of the Cold Ones from the Tribe. She was now a 'Cold One' and she would probably not allow to be back. Which was going to kill Sam and her friends. They were her second family and now she was going to be banned. Serena pretended that she woke up from a nightmare to see her father also asleep. She felt bad that she worried him – she wished she could tell him the truth, but she couldn't tell him at all. It was something that Dr. Cullen – no – Carlisle told her. No one can know the existence of this community unless Death was wished upon them. What is Serena supposed to do now? She's going to be forever looking fourteen…
