Disclaimer: Let's just say that if I was the original creator of this amazing series, there would have been no eighth season….
Summary: The REAL reason Martha Rogers never stayed married….also known as the "If I can't have her, no one can" syndrome.
Operation: Martha
By: RedMoonEclipse
I, Jackson Hunt, quietly turned the door knob. Martha and our son were gone on an overnight trip so that trash of a third husband of hers was alone. Normally, I wasn't one to act on my feelings for others – being a CIA agent and all – but this man needed to be taught a lesson. So far, the first two had learned theirs well but Martha – my Martha – had gone and gotten married to another drunk. For my woman's sake, I would do my fatherly duties and protect my son.
The apartment was different than the two times before but I already knew the layout by heart. The toys from earlier that day hadn't been picked up but my quiet footfalls didn't falter as I walked through the living room to the couch. The loud snoring emitting from the man didn't change the closer that I got. Pulling out my gun, I placed it to the other man's head and bent down.
"Hello, Tom," I breathed into his ear. The snoring stopped and I pushed the gun a little into the side of the man's head in warning. "Don't move and don't even try to scream for help. Martha and Richard aren't coming home tonight."
"W-who?"
"Let's just call me Martha's guardian angel, Tom." I paused and counted to ten slowly to give the man some time to register my words. I had noticed early on that he was a little slow in this area. "You've been a bad husband to Martha and a terrible father to Richard. Because I'm feeling generous, I will give you a week to leave Martha's life and disappear. If you are still here at the end of that one week, I'll become Martha's avenging angel."
The man was quivering in terror as I recounted everything that I would do if the man didn't obey. By the end, he was nodding vigorously in agreement with everything I whispered into his ear. Satisfied that Martha was safely mine again, I retreated out of the apartment without the man ever seeing my face. My secret personal mission was once again successful.

RME: for those who are wondering, no, the gun wasn't unlocked. Jackson Hunt wasn't going to shot the guy from the beginning, just terrify him. For those who were wondering, this came from a weird idea that Richard's dad was the reason Martha couldn't stay married.
