Chapter 1: Enter Summer Schnee
It was starting to get dark. The last rays of the sun illuminated the ruins of a city. There were quite a few of these in Vale and while others usually choose to avoid them, Summer thought in was an excellent training ground. She was sitting on a rock, while Matt was fighting a boarbatusk. They've met a few days ago, he and his mother let Summer live with them for awhile, in exchange she offered to teach him about fighting.
Summer couldn't help but laugh as the boarbatusk hit Matt in the gut.
"Congrats. You've just got your ass handed to you by a pig. What did they teach you in that combat school?"
"Fuck you! That's like a boarbatusk from hell!" the brown haired boy cried. Summer didn't answer just grabbed her sword and with a quick move slayed the grimm.
"Oh my Gods! It looks like my sword is the most powerful weapon on the face of Remnant." said the girl with a big smirk.
"Stop."
"The fifth relic, the Sword of Pig Smiting..."
"Please stop..."
"This sword was made by the Gods before the beginning of time." Matt just sat there and listened with an unimpressed look on his face, as Summer rambled about her weapon for more than half an hour. "... leaving behind the mighty weapon for he knew, it's power will be required once more."
"Are you done yet?"
"But the legacy of the sword lives on."
"Okay well... Thanks for the... lesson...
"Your welcome. "
"But I've gotta go home." Matt explained.
"No problem. I've meant to ask it before, but why are you walking like someone shoved something up to your ass?" asked the candycane haired girl. Matt suddenly didn't know what to say in embarassment.
"It's nothing... I've just got beat up by this guy." Althought it couldn't be seen because of the darkness, Summer's expression softened.
"Want me to kick their asses?"
"No. If I want to be a Hunter I'll have to deal with this on my own." Matt answered. "You seem pretty good. Don't you wanna be a Huntress?"
"Go to Beacon? Learn about sharing, teamwork and murdering people?" Summer asked sarcasticaly. "Nope. I pass..." but before she could finish, a light appeared in the distance. "Shit! They're early." she quickly turned to Matt. "You should go home."
"What? What's going on?" asked the boy, starting to suspect that's something is wrong.
"Nothing. I just have some business with these guys." said Summer, waving her hand.
"I'm not leaving you alone with them." Matt stated, after a brief pause.
"Just go!" the girl snapped. Matt was a great guy, but he didn't know when to back off. Matt stayed silent, then turned around and walk away.
Summer sighed in relief. Good, now she can do her job. Carefully, not make any noise, she started to approach the men. There were three, no four of them. Three faunus, one human. The tree faunus looked very similar. Related? Summer wondered. Two of them had canine ears, but one was bald and had no fur on them. The third one had a tail. The human didn't seem to be a fighter. He was an overweight man with a big mustache and a lantern in hand. (Luckily for Summer, without the light she would've been in a major disadvantage.)
"Why are we here again?" one of the faunus asked.
"Where's Delilah? I thought she's supposed to be here."
"Shut up!"
"It's cold! I don't wanna be here!" one of them whined.
"Just shut up!" the human commanded. "We have a job to do!"
"Boss! I think someone is following us." said the faunus with ears. Shit. Summer cursed. Well... It's now or never. Without an other thought she left her cover and with a swing of her sword incased the men ice.
"So you are the vigilante." the human had a smirk on his face, despite his situation.
"You've heard of me. How flattering..." Summer decided not to waste time and put her sword to the mans throat."Now tell me, who's your boss?" There were surprisingly few individual criminals in Vale. As it turned out most of the crimes were commited by an organization. They were becomming quite annoying, so Summer figured, killing their leader would make things easier.
"I'd rather not." the man had an all too smug grin on his face, that Summer noticed all too late. A sudden explosion threw her to a wall. Thanks to her aura it didn't hurt, but her weapon was lost. The bald faunus grabbed her by the throat, lifting her off the ground.
"Now, we're the ones asking the questions. " the human said. "Who are you and what do you want?" Instead of answering, Summer kicked her captor in the face. The man reached to his face and dropped her. She had to find her sword, quickly. Fortunately the explosion coused some of the ruins to catch fire, so that made the search a bit easier. The faunus with the tail tried to jump on her, but Summer was faster and got out of the way. Even with dodging most of the attacks, her aura level was decreasing. The odds were against her. As luck would have it, she stumbled in her sword, when the bald guy threw her into a wall. NOW, the chances were even. Her first target was the bald guy. He was obviously a lot stronger physically, but Summer was faster and more agile. The faunus with the tail tried to sneak on her so Summer kicked him in the stomach, leaving her back open. The bald immediately jumped on the opportunity and sent her flying through a wall.
Summer's vision became blurry, her aura must've been broken. She heard the criminals shouting, but couldn't quite comprehend it. Suddenly a figure was standing infront of her.
"Summer Schnee. " the man said." You are under arrest. "
"Look, I have nothing to do with them. I don't know them." Summer explained.
"I believe you. That's not why you're here." the policeman stated with a stern look on his face. "There are 26 reported cases of you engaging in fights with criminals, without any kind of license or permission."
"Well maybe if the law-enforcement started doing there fuckin' job, then there wouldn't be a need for a 16-years-old girl to do these things for them!" Summer snapped. She was getting annoyed. This was stupid. The whole thing was stupid. She spent the last two years of her life by lowering the crimerate, by HERSELF, so what is her reward? Getting arrested. Before she could continue however a policemans scroll rang.
"What is it know? Tell him he can't. He WHAT?! Okay, let him in." then he turned to Summer and said: "Someone wants to talk to you." Summer was perplexed. Who would want to talk to her? The door opened and two men entered. Summer's eyes widened in disbelief.
"Uncle Whitley?" Summer gasped. "What are you doing here?" Her uncle was usually busy with running the Schnee Dust Company, so him showing up here at 10 p.m. pretty surprising.
"Nice to see you too, Summer. " his voice was calm, but it wasn't hard to find out that he was unimpressed. He put a cup in front of Summer. She took it and looked at the dark liquid. Summer wasn't a big fan of the coffie, but she was tired and a bit cold, so she decided to accept the warm drink. "You were quite busy during the last two years. " Summer didn't say anything, just looked at her empty cup instead. "Fortunately it's nothing a good lawyer wouldn't be able to handle."
"Wow... Thanks... " Summer stammer nervously. She knew her uncle. He wasn't like this. There had to be a catch of some kind.
"As for your question, I'm here because Mr Arc over here "he pointed at the other man." has an offer for you."
"Hello Summer. My name is Jaune Arc. I don't think you remember me. We've met before, but you were very young. "the man rambled. Summer didn't really know what to make of it. "Anyway. I'm here ask you if you would like to attend Beacon Academy."
"Nope." Summer answered immediately, popping the 'p'.
"No?"
"No."
"Well okay then. It was nice to meet you. You can go now. " Summer eyed suspiciously, waiting for something to happen, then
At least she wanted to, but after taking one step, her vision started to blur. She quickly lost her balance and fell to the floor. Everything became fuzzy then darkness covered the world.
When Summer woke up, it felt like her head wanted to explode. She found herself in a room full of people. Everything was so loud and bright, it made her nauseous. Where was she? What happened? After stumbling through the crowd, she finally reached a window. She was in and airship. That's when everything came back, the thugs, the police, Uncle Whitley. But before she could think any futher, she heard a familiar voice.
"Summer?" Summer felt her heart stop when her silver eyes found the crystal blue ones. She became completely paralized. Before she could utter a word, she found herself locked in a bonecrushing embrace.
"Hello Briar." she managed to choke out, with the little air left in her lungs. Despite Briar's hug feeling like being strangled by an anaconda, Summer felt strangely happy and even leaned into it, a bit. Then she spoke again:
"You're goint to Beacon too?!" at that moment, Summer felt like she was hit by a truck. No, that can't be happening. No. No. No! No! NO! NO! NONONONONO!
A/N: Sorry for the grammar mistakes, english is my second language and I'm trying my best. Also I hope Whitley and Jaunne weren't to OOC.
