Chapter 1:
Ikebukuro, Tokyo. A less than regular sunny day, with the slew of rain they had been having. A lovely sunny day is a welcomed gift. But most notable was a young man with a bag being held over his shoulder was walking along the sidewalk. He had medium-length black hair as well as sharp blue eyes as he watched in front of him, his pale skin free of acne and sweat as the wind brushed his hair ever so slightly. He sighed as he adjusted the blue tie wrapped around his neck as his school uniform was shown.
It was a black jacket with white trimmings with a white dress shirt underneath with the tie in the middle. The navy dress pants with a regular pair of runners were seen as he held a canned coffee in one hand, taking a sip he sighed loudly in relief.
"It's too hot today," The man said under his breath as he continued on.
This is Oshigawa Yoshimura, a high schooler in Tokyo, Japan. And a current employee at Anteiku Cafe, which is where he was heading currently. Having just finished school about twenty minutes ago, he was heading to work to help his grandfather.
"Why did Benimaru choose today to get sick" Oshigawa growled as he turned to the coffee shop and walked in seeing his fellow co-worker smiling.
"Oh, Oshi-san. Your right on time, your grandpa's waiting in the back" Oshigawa nodded as he walked behind her and into the back.
Walking to the back he sees a row of lockers as he went to the one with his name on it. Opening it you see his work uniform and a pile of three books he was currently reading. Taking his jacket and tie off, he replaced them with a black vest and red tie. Adjusting them both as he tucked his dress shirt back in and buttoned his vest. He reached into the locker and pulled out a pair of black and blue glasses and put them on. Not before taking off the contacts, he had in his eyes beforehand.
"Oshi-Kun" Oshigawa turned to see his grandfather, Yoshi smiling at him.
"Grandfather, I'm just about to sign in if that's what you worried about," The blue-eyed teen said as he closed his locker and went to the side and picked up a nice clean apron before wrapping it around his waist.
"No, I just wanted to thank you. I know it's only been three days into school but we didn't have anyone else to come in" Yoshi said as Oshigawa shrugged.
"No harm, no foul. I was just gonna head home and study or some shit anyway" Oshi said as his grandfather nodded.
"Also, your mother called today" Oshi stopped what he was doing as he avoided eye contact with his grandfather.
"Still not talking to her huh?" He asked as Oshigawa simply turned and walked past him and onto the floor. As the door to the dining area closed, his grandfather couldn't help but sigh as he turned back into his office, knowing only pushing things would cause him more pain.
The floor was rather quiet, it was only three workers today. Two working the tables and one on the coffee stand. He turned to his co-worker Anya as she smiled at him.
"Hey Oshigawa, why don't you start on tables today. Most students will finish soon and we will need a skilled guy at the helm" Oshi nodded as he walked to the podium at the front and pulled out a notebook of sign in's and dry-erase map of the restaurant's table. Signing in, he put the notebook away before grabbing a notepad and pen.
He leaned up against the podium as he waited and he wasn't waiting long as the familiar door chime knocked him out of his own mind as he looked to see three students walking in.
(10 minutes earlier)
"Are you serious Kaminari?" The busy sidewalks of Tokyo were outshined by the bright hair of three familiar students walking through the crowds. One with bright yellow hair another with pink and the next with spiky red hair. The latter had asked the question.
These were three of the Hero Course students at U.A. Denki Kaminari, Mina Ashido and Ejirou Kirishima. All of them in a singular group. They had recently been acquainted from school and this was some of the first hang out's they had as a group, well. Kirishima and Ashido had some backstory but they still as a group this was- just… nevermind.
Mina Ashido was fifteen years old as she walked in the middle of the trio, she had pink fluffy hair with two yellow horns poking from the front as her bright pink skin called out like a red sign in a green park. Her eyes were black where they would usually be white and her pupils were a dark yellow. She had on her usual U.A uniform like her friends, it was a gray jacket with dark green lines on the sleeves, shoulders and collar. She also had a white dress shirt on underneath with a bright red tie, below she had a dark green skirt on with a pair of high-rise boots.
Next was Ejirou Kirishima. He was a more human-like look as his skin was a tan-like colour with spiky red hair and bright red eyes. His teeth white normal had some noticeable sharper ones and his outfit was the same as Mina's. Except for the Skirt, where it was instead Dark green dress pants with dress shoes.
And finally was Denki Kaminari. He had bright blonde hair with a black stripe in his bangs. He had a giant goofy grin on as he leads the trio through the crowd as his yellow eyes dodged the incoming people. He also had on his uniform while he currently had his slightly open as to cool down.
"For sure! I still find it hard to believe you guy's haven't heard about this place. You guy's said you're both from Chiba right?" He asked as he got a nod from both of them.
"Yeah, but we never heard of this coffee shop ever," Ejirou said.
"Huh, it's actually rather popular with my family. I actually know one of the workers, he's the same age as us actually" Denki smiled as they all looked at him.
"Really?" Mina asked.
"Yeah, me and him met when he came to my school for the last year of middle school. His name is Oshigawa Yoshimura, but he goes by Oshi" He said as they both nodded.
"Here it is," Kaminari said as they turned to see a rather plain-looking coffee shop. It had glass along the wall with a porch and a green canopy with the logo in yellow. The door off to the side as they all smiled.
"Looks cozy," Kirishima said as Denki nodded.
"Inside is even better as the fresh smell of coffee is amazing. Especially if it's made by a Yoshimura" Denki smiled as his friends looked at him weirdly.
"Come on" Denki smiled as they followed him in as Mina looked at the vine-covered walls as she couldn't help but feel at home with the environment of the shop.
Denki opened the door and held it open for both of his friends, they walked into the shop as the smell of fresh coffee beans entered their noses almost immediately. Mina couldn't help but smile at the scent.
"You weren't kidding, this is almost heavenly," Mina said as Denki laughed. Denki turned to the podium and smiled.
"And speak of the devil, hey Oshi!" Denki smiled only to be grabbed by his tie and pulled in as Oshigawa glared at him.
"What are you doing here Kaminari?" Oshigawa growled lowly as Ejirou and Mina stared at the situation.
"Hey man, it's just… I missed your coffee?" Kaminari's weak excuse caused a silence between the four of them as Oshigawa growled.
"That's what you have to say!? After you fried our electricity for weeks!?" Oshigawa glared down at him.
"Look man, I said I was sorry?" Denki called out as Oshi started to shake him back and forth.
"That cost me three hundred dollars from my last paycheck!" He yelled as Mina and Ejirou sweatdropped at the pair.
"It's not like you made much before," Kaminari said weakly as Oshigawa paused as he stared down at him before slamming him into the ground and stomping on his head.
"You know what I meant damnit," Oshigawa said as he rubbed his heel into the back of his head.
Oshigawa looked up to see Kirishima and Mina flinch at his look. He looked at them blankly before an elder man chopped the back of his head as he walked from the back door.
"That's enough Oshi-kun," The elder said as Oshigawa sighed as he lifted his foot off his friend.
"Thanks for the save Yoshi-san," Kaminari said as he looked up only to flinch at the look the elder was giving him as he rushed and hid behind Ejirou.
"Your friend huh?" Mina asked sarcastically silently as Kirishima chuckled.
"Shuddup" Denki said as his new friends laughed.
"Why don't you three find a seat, Oshi-Kun will be with you in a minute" Yoshi smiled as they all nodded as they walked to a seat as Denki made sure his friends were between the Yoshimura's.
"He is always so eccentric," Oshigawa said as he walked to the menus.
"That girl…" Oshi turned to his grandfather.
"What about her?" Oshigawa asked.
"Her scent is rather… odd," The elder said as Oshi turned to Mina as she teased Denki.
"I suppose, it's probably due to her quirk," He said as he started to walk over to them. The elder looked at the young girl with suspicion before heading behind the coffee counter.
Oshigawa walked up to them as he looked at the mess as he saw Denki with his face against the table with a small tear pool building below him.
"What's up with him?" Oshigawa asked as he raised an eyebrow.
"Sorry, guess I went a little far with the teasing" Mina laughed as Oshigawa smirked before he quickly went back to a straight face.
"Anyway, coffee today or will you be having food?" Oshigawa asked as they all looked at each other.
"I think I'll have a bite," Kirishima said as Oshigawa nodded and handed him a menu.
"And for you?" Oshigawa asked as Mina stared at him.
"Uh… can I help you?" Oshi asked as Mina snapped out of it.
"Oh sorry, I just never seen eyes like yours. I mean, it's like staring at the ocean" Oshi blushed slightly as he looked away.
"Jeez, you're so weird," Denki said as he looked up at her from his little headspace.
"Your one to talk " Mina mimicked Denki's stupid face went he goes overboard earning a laugh from Kirishima and Oshigawa.
"She's got you there," Kirishima said as Denki went back to crying.
"Did he tell you why he fried our store yet?" Oshigawa asked as Kirishima and Mina both shook their heads.
"Well, a little spider decided to drop on his food" Oshigawa smirked as Denki looked up at him betrayed.
"DUDE! That was our secret!" Kaminari yelled.
"Consider it payback for the three hundred dollars you cost me," Oshigawa said as he and the other two teens chuckled.
"Alright, as fun as it is teasing the idiot. I need to thank you two. He may be an idiot but he has a good heart, Look after him for me will ya? I don't want to think of what he'll do without me" Mina and Kirishima looked at each other and nodded.
"You got it, it just wouldn't be manly of me to leave a guy hanging in the wind like that" Kirishima said with a thumbs up and Mina smiled.
"You can count on me as well, we wouldn't be much of hero's if we did" As Oshigawa laughed.
"I don't think I introduced myself. My name's Oshigawa Yoshimura, but call me Oshi. A pleasure" He said as he smiled at Mina causing her to blush. This didn't go unnoticed by the blonde boy and the red boy.
"Name's Ejrou Kirishima, Future hero" Kirishima smiled as he flashed a giant toothy smile. He and Oshi shook hands as Mina smiled widely as well.
"I'm Mina Ashido! A pleasure" She said with a lot of energy that Oshigawa wasn't expecting.
"Alright then, anyway. Uh… Food or drink?"
(Later on)
Oshigawa sighed as he cleaned a coffee cup behind the counter. Thing's had died down and the rush of students was coming to a close. He smiled to himself as he hummed a tune that he had pulled from his memory.
"That's a neat tune" Oshigawa jumped as he looked up to see Mina smiling at him.
"Jeez, you scared me," Oshigawa said as Mina giggled.
"It's what I was going for, anyway. Denki and Kirishima are in the bathroom and then we will be heading out. I just wanted to thank you for the coffee" Mina smiled as Oshi nodded.
"Of course, and come back anytime," He said as Mina paused at stared at him.
"There you go again, still staring at my-"
"Oshi-Kun" Mina said as Oshigawa looked at her shocked.
"Your new nickname" She smiled as Oshi looked at her shocked before a flash of a white-haired little girl flashed through his mind as he held his head slightly.
"Oh, you okay?!" Mina asked worriedly as she ran around the counter as Oshigawa smiled.
"Sorry, that happens from time to time. I can't control it. It's not your fault" He smiled as she looked at him worried.
"Well alright then, I didn't mean anything," She said as Oshigawa shook his head.
"It's all good, let's just hold off on the nicknames please" He smiled as she nodded worriedly.
"And that's when- Mina?" Kirishima questioned as Denki came around the corner from the bathroom.
"Oh jeez, did you have another attack?" Denki said as he looked at the pained man.
"It's all good, just sudden is all," He said as he slightly pushed Mina's hand off his shoulder as she was shocked by the action.
"Anyway, you guys have a goodnight. I need to clean the bathrooms" He said as he rushed around Mina and the two men as they watched him go.
"Well, I'll show you guys to the train station," Denki said as they all walked out the doors of the coffee shop.
Mina and Kirishima nodded as they went to grab their stuff. Mina kept her eyes on the bathroom door. Inside, Oshi leaned against the door as he grabbed his head and sighed. He shook it soon after before going to clean the mirrors.
(Later on)
Oshigawa sighed as he threw himself into his bed. He looked up at the ceiling as he thought about pushing Mina and sighed.
"I should apologize if I ever see her again," He said to himself as he covered his eyes with his forearm. He laid in silence as his room remained pitch black, the only light was from his computer in the back corner that was one the login page.
He soon felt his phone vibrate as he removed his arm and sat up. Pulling it from his pocket he opened his phone to see the contact reading Tenka with Step-mom in brackets. He shook his head as he closed the phone and placed it on his nightstand.
It had been a whole year and a half since she disowned his little sister, he shook his head as he looked out his window. He came to Tokyo hoping to find her but he had no luck as of yet. He could only imagine what was going through her head.
He got up and walked to the bathroom and started the water to ready a shower. He definitely felt like he needed one.
(Meanwhile)
Mina Ashido sat on her bed as she sent a goodnight text to her group chat with Denki, Kirishima and Sero. The four of them had become rather close from their get-togethers. The only reason Hanta wasn't with them today was that he was because he was having dinner with his grandparents that night.
She shook her head as she looked out her window as she thought of the boy she met at the Coffee shop.
(Flashback)
"What was up with Oshi-bro?" Kirishima asked, adding a nickname for the blue-eyed man.
"Hey guys, I think I should warn you if you're gonna get close to him" Denki sighed as he stood up from the bench they all sat on as they waited for the bus.
"Oshigawa isn't the most open of people, he has had it rough. The only reason I know it is because I'm his best friend here in Tokyo. And I won't divulge the entire story but…" Mina and Ejirou stared at him.
"Let's just say he's had it rough growing up and doesn't have a lot of friends back where he's from. The reason I wanted you guys to meet is that I was hoping we could induct him into our little group" Denki smiled sadly as Mina stared at him with something between pity and curiosity.
"But it'll take time, so no nicknames just yet. We need to make him comfortable with us first, can you guys do that for me? Please" Denki asked, basically pleading when he said please.
Mina wasn't sure what to make of it but she smiled at him as well as Ejirou who was just as curious.
"You can count on us bro, I'm sure Hanta will say the same" Ejirou smiled as Mina nodded in agreement.
"He's your friend and that makes him our friend as well. So we will be right alongside ya when it comes to helping him" Mina smiled as she stood with a thumbs up.
"Thanks, guys" He smiled.
(End Flashback)
She sighed as she leaned against her window seal and looked into the starry night sky. She smiled as she did. She shook her head before clapping her hands twice and shut her lights off, curling into bed soon after.
"Oshigawa Yoshimura huh?" She smiled as she let sleep take over herself.
