A vast, endless space of white and pure nothingness - a void. This is all Azrael Kazenochi saw before him as he recollected his memories, or the lack of, rather. All he seemed to remember was his own name and how to speak modern language.

As he struggled to recall details about himself or his life, a divine presence made itself known before him.

"So… You have awakened, Azrael Kazenochi… Do you know who I am?" Its voice echoed through the endless void.

Azrael would turn his attention to face this divine entity, unable to quite identify what he was looking at. The being seemed to be coated in golden rings across a white humanoid mass of energy. The rings each had seven blinking eyes, all centered on Azrael. As he looked closer, Azrael would also notice that there were white wings coming from the being's body, hardly distinguishable in the white beyond themselves.

"Do you know who I am, Azrael Kazenochi..?" The being asked once more, still analyzing Azrael.

"No, I'm afraid I don't…" Azrael confessed, feeling very lost and confused as to what might be happening to him. "Who are you?"

The being let out a noise that one could only assume is a laugh, echoing on for an eternity. "I appreciate the honesty." They stated, before continuing, "I am the Time Weaver. You have been chosen to save a time unfamiliar to you thanks to your untapped potential and likeliness to purge the anomaly destined to cause a rift in space-time itself. I will give you a moment to process this information."

Azrael had so many questions already. For one, does this mean he is not from this point in time? And two, he was pulled from his time to save another from some space-time anomaly? And finally, he was chosen due to his potential and likeliness to mend this said anomaly? Too many questions with so little time, leading Azrael to simply ask the one, "What do I need to do to purge this anomaly?"

The Time Weaver came closer to Azrael, a mere foot away from him at this point. "You must find a way to gain enough strength to defeat the anomaly. I am unable to intervene in the natural order to that degree, but such stipulations do not apply to you, a being foreign to this time. Get stronger and quell the anomaly that is to plague time itself."

A warm light poured over Azrael as he felt himself fade out of the void-like space. "Wait, hold on! I have more questions!" He cried, his pleas seemingly falling on deaf ears. "What is this anomaly?! What type of strength do I need?! How will I find the anomaly?! Hey!"

The light would consume Azrael until he vanished from the space completely.

"Azrael Kazenochi…" The Time Weaver said, "You must preserve the future others have fought so desperately for. Your resurgence will not only save time and space, but existence as we know it. Godspeed, Azrael…"

Azrael would arrive in a muddy stone alleyway, with a soft, wet feeling washing over him. As he tilted his head to the sky, he would see dark grey clouds looming overhead. Light droplets of rain would fall on Azrael's face, making him question whether what he had just experienced was real or simply a dream.

Azrael would roam around, taking in his surroundings. He passed buildings both modern and traditional until he made his way to a tavern to wash up. He looked at a mirror in the restroom to check his appearance to ensure nothing happened to him.

Medium length black hair, blue eyes, pale skin, slender but fit figure. Nothing out of the ordinary. His white button-up was damp and exposing his figure however. He would need to find new clothes should he wish to blend in with others.

Almost as soon as he was finished checking on himself, a burly, hairy man with hair everywhere but the top of his head would barge into the restroom and push Azrael. "'Bout time we got some fresh meat 'ere, eh?" The man chuckled heartily.

"My apologies, I'll be leaving at once," Azrael stated, moving to leave the restroom and past the man. "Excuse me."

The man would block the door and stand in Azrael's way. "Nuh-uh! You ain't goin' nowhere, shrimp!" He would proceed to knock Azrael back with a heavy kick, leaving him gasping for air. "I think we oughta put a twig like you to work 'round here! Surely you know you can't be bargin' in where ya don't belong, eh?"

The blow to his gut would throb, but fade within seconds. Azrael would brush himself off and stand up to the man before him, wind swirling around his body. He would lift his hand up and hold his palm out towards the man. "I said I'll be leaving. Move." Azrael demanded.

The man began to laugh quite loudly at Azrael's attempt at intimidation. "Hit me with yer best shot!" He cackled, "But just know that once you cross that line, there'll be no comin' back! Ain't no wizard in Magnolia scary enough to make me back down!"

With a sigh, Azrael would focus on his intent to leave, thus gathering up the energy to unleash a full-powered wind blast at the man. The heavy ruffian would be shot through the door, blowing it to pieces, and into the wall of the tavern, knocking him out instantly.

All of the other people sitting and drinking in the tavern would stop and look over to the man and then to Azrael. After a moment of silence, cheers and laughter would fill the hall, various people holding up their glasses and mugs in Azrael's direction.

"Now that's some Fairy Tail level destruction right there, fella! Cheers!" The bartender would shout with a laugh, before everyone in the tavern carried on with what they were doing before.

Azrael would let out a sigh of relief before leaving the tavern and carrying on his own way, as well. He was shocked at what he had just performed, but it surprisingly felt natural in its own way. Azrael would clench his fist and look onwards, feeling reassured in the Time Weaver's faith in him.

"I know what I need to do now," Azrael would say aloud. "I need to learn how to use this power and get stronger. And to do that, I have to find more of these 'wizards' and learn from them - and I know just where to look." He said, staring down a large building with two words hanging from the bannisters.

Fairy Tail.

Author's Note:
Thanks to everyone for reading the prologue of my series Fairy Tail: Resurgence.

We've spent a lot of time trying to flesh out each arc's main story details, but the real challenge is yet to come. Having an idea is great and all, but the hardest part is putting those ideas into words.

I hope readers will show their support as I continue to work on this series in the future! Once again, thanks for reading!
