It wasn't supposed to take this long. Sora stared into the microwave, fidgeting, watching as the seconds counted down. With a ding, he yanked open the door, poured the popcorn into a bag, and bounced back over to where Riku and Kairi waited in their blanket fort. He settled himself in between the two of them, Riku's muscled arm tucked around his shoulders, Kairi's head fitting against his neck.

"Are you happy now?" Riku muttered. "Got your popcorn?"

"Yup!" Sora declared, offering both of them the bowl. That probably was a bad idea, as half of it ended up gone before he could get some of his own. But he could make more if he wanted to.

He picked up his Gummiphone and flicked through it briefly while Riku started to sort through their movies. Things hadn't been this peaceful in absolute ages. He hoped that they stayed that way.

From where he sat, he could see the stars glimmering in the night sky. No matter where he went, the stars had always been there. Different constellations, but always there were stars and a sun and that made every world feel a little more like home. Sometimes it felt like forever since he'd been able to relax like this.

Not just me. Everyone. Lea, Roxas, Xion, Namine, Isa, Aqua, Terra, Ven – and all of their other friends across all of the worlds. They might not be sharing a blanket fort, popcorn, and movies, but they relaxed in their own ways tonight.

"Got it!" Riku declared, raising the remote control in triumph, smiling brightly. "Everyone ready?"

"Ready!" Kairi and Sora declared in perfect unison. Riku flicked the button and the movie got started. They'd meant to do this before they got interested in building the raft and leaving the islands. Movies were hard to come by in their part of the world and it had been a huge special occasion when they could get it. Then – everything that happened did, and they'd all had so much more to think about than a movie. At least until now, with everyone in all of the worlds restored.

Sora nibbled on his popcorn and didn't think a great deal about moving. Moving meant not being nearly as comfortable as he was now. Moving meant not having Riku and Kairi snuggled up against him and he'd waited so long to have this. He couldn't even begin to imagine being without one of them.

And now he didn't ever have to be. Granted, that had taken both Kairi and Riku smacking some sense into him,, but this was the beginning of them figuring out how things would work like this. Loving one person was strange and bewildering enough. Loving two people who loved each other and loved him back?

Saving the world wasn't all that hard, when you got right down to it. Forging a life together, now that was difficult and exciting. And Sora looked forward to doing so with every breath that he took.

The End

Notes: I also wrote this to answer two tumblr prompts from healingmichiko: the first being Sora, Riku, and Kairi in a blanket fort, the other being to write what came after the first sentence.
