"You wanna come with me?"

"Yeah…"

She held his gaze as they made their way to the car, the atmosphere felt hot but light at the same time. She climbed into his car letting his smell take over, she dropped his hand so he could start the car. It took them 10 minutes to get to her apartment, but those 10 minutes felt like an eternity. When they arrived, their fingers interlaced again as they made their way upstairs. As soon as she opened the door, their lips met, all of the tension from the day was immediately washed away as they made their way to Kim´s bedroom. As they reached the hall, Adam picked her up and she wrapped her legs around his waist, their lips only separating whenever they needed to gasp for air. He put her gently on the bed, lifting his head up to make sure she was ready, almost like asking for permission. She let out a soft moan and then responded, "Do it Adam, it´s been long enough". They were used to this type of encounters, they were more frequent than they were willing to admit, but somehow this time it was different, it was gentle and slow, maybe slower than she liked. Adam´s mind was telling him to do it this way, slowly, like asking to be let in again, knowing he had betrayed her trust by sleeping with Hailey, he wanted to be gentle, to make her feel loved.

She kissed down his neck making her way to his chest and ripping off his shirt. He softly started lifting up her shirt and pulling it off her, meeting her lips again as she lowered down her hands and taking his belt off. He put his hands on her hips and slowly pulled down her pants, with their lips still together, he took off his own pants and let his fingers approach her hips, making their way to her groin, she moaned, finally taking off her underwear, Adam did the same thing, and finally let her take the lead. They didn´t know it before, but they craved this greatly, it felt like they´ve been waiting forever for that moment. Sex was never a problem for them, it was like their bodies were always naturally in sync, but somehow this time was different, almost more mature, it was gentle yet passionate. And, just like that, they stayed up all night, making love five times, by the end they were exhausted but content.

She laid her head on his chest, the thumping of his heart felt beautifully rhythmic. He rubbed his thumb against her arm, sending goosebumps down her spine. He whispered softly in her ear, "I missed you", he then kissed her forehead. "I missed you too Adam", she said letting herself sink into his naked body. They stayed like that, holding each other, until the alarm rang, forcing them both to get up and get ready to go to work. Coffee wasn´t optional after the night they had had, as much as they enjoyed it, they hadn´t really slept at all, they were too caught up in the moment to care. "You want breakfast?", she asked as she started the coffee pot, "I think I´ll have something on my way to the district, don´t worry".

"Then let´s go to that diner that´s like a block away from the district, breakfast is on me"

"Ok, I´m down"

"Good, let´s go".

They made their way to the dinner, she ordered pancakes and he ordered French toast. They both smiled as they made their way into the station, sitting in their respective desks. Nobody would know what had happened that night, but they did, and that was all that mattered.

That day happened to be more eventful than they thought. After an altercation with patrol, Adam had ended up fighting another officer in a dark alley. Even though he had won, he still ended up with a few bruises. Kim had overheard a conversation Trudy and Adam had had over the whole situation, and she had a gut feeling it wasn´t going to end up well for Adam, something told her to call him. "Hi, how are you? How did the thing with patrol go?" "We got a little roughed up, but it´s over now, so that´s good", she could hear he was struggling to breathe properly, which meant he had been injured,

"He got you really bad, didn´t he?"

"Nah, I´m fine, he got it worse"

"I bet"

"Come on, I´m fine"

"Adam Ruzek, if I see as much as a bruise on you when we get to work tomorrow, I swear to god I´m gonna annoy the living hell out of you, until you let me take care of them"

"God, okay, yeah my ribs hurt, so does my eye, you happy now"

"Yeah, I´m on my way to your place"

"Kim you don´t have to, I´m…"

She didn´t even let him finish before hanging up and starting her car. She arrived to his place and knocked at the door, he stood slowly and opened the door, letting her in. "Hi, you didn´t have to come, you know?" "I know I didn´t, but I wanted to make sure you were okay" "I´m fine really" "Well, I´m here, so deal with it" He smirked at the comment, sure he was stubborn, but Kim was always persistent enough to make him give in, that was one of the many reasons why he loved her. She proceeded to point to the couch, implying he sat down, which he of course did. She then grabbed an ice pack and sat on the couch next to him, "Where does it hurt?", he pointed to his right side, she slowly put the icepack on him as he winced in pain. "Do you mind if I take a look?" "No, go ahead", she lifted his shirt, only to find big dark bruise on one of his ribs, "That looks painful" "It is" . She put the icepack on him again, he let out a loud breath before relaxing a little bit and letting himself sink into the couch. Kim started playing with his hair and, just like that, he fell asleep next to her, she leaned her head on his shoulder, and let sleep take over.
