From a young age we're taught that all men are created equal and how we should treat everyone fairly. If that's true, then why are some people born with more power than others? Why is it that the strong can get away with bullying the weak? No. All men are not created equal. The people with flashy abilities step on those below them and rise to the top. The rest of us are left to suffer their wrath with no chance of ever escaping.
Izuku Midoriya trudged into class and plopped down in his seat. Resting his head on his arms, he tried to drown the noise of the class. Then the teacher started talking about careers and our future, but Midoriya wasn't listening. Suddenly the teacher asked "Aren't you applying to UA too, Midoriya." Izuku shot up and blinked "Uhh, Ya." Suddenly the class bursted out laughing and jeering at him. He sank back into his seat and laid his head down hoping it would all end. School, the bullying, Life. All his life he's been bullied for being quirkless and it's started to hurt a lot. The pain of not being good enough, of being a burden to everyone around him. He knew the road ahead wasn't a fun one, it would only get worse from here. So what was the point of extra suffering.
Izuku jumped up as the bell rang. I slept through the whole day.Wow. He pulled out his hero notebook about to add some final touch ups on that new hero Mt. Lady. Then, the notebook slipped through his fingers into the hands of Bakugou "What do you think your doing, Deku?" Midoriya looked up and flinched at the cold glare of his once friend, Katsuki Bakugou. "Nothing Kacchan. I wasn't doing anything, I swear." Bakugou blew up the notebook and tossed it out the window. Izuku stood motionless and watched as hours of hard work and passion flew out the window in cinders. "Deku, stop dreaming. You'll never be a hero. Let's be realistic, you're quirkless. How can you be a hero without a quirk? I have a solution. Go up to the roof of the building and take a swan dive. Maybe you'll have a quirk in your next life." Suddenly those words felt like he'd been finally pierced by a sword that was pushing at the skin. His skin wasn't thick enough to just bypass those words. It hurt like a weight had been dropped onto his chest. He was left alone to soak in Bakugo's statement.
Midoriya kept his head down as he walked into the tunnel. Maybe you're right Kacchan. Maybe I should just hope for a chance at being a hero in my next life. Behind him sludge began to pour out of a manhole. As it began to reform, Izuku turned around and was caught off guard as the sludge forced itself down his throat and nose. The sudden intrusion made him reach for his face and tried to pull it out, but the sludge slipped through his fingers. No I-I don't want to die like this. Not at the hands of some disgusting villain. As Izuku's consciousness began to fade, he could see the bulky figure of his hero. Is that All...Might?
Startling awake, Izuku was met with his hero exclaiming "Hah, thought we lost you there. No need to fear for I..have captured the evildoer." While All Might struck a comical pose, Izuku was fanboying in his mind. All the dark thoughts had suddenly vanished with one of All Might's signature smiles. Izuku reached for his burnt notebook and opened to a page hoping for All Might to sign it. However when he opened it, there was already a signature. Suddenly, All might began to stretch "Watch out, son. Heroes are always fighting time as well as villains. I'm about to take off." Wait, I need to ask you something important. Don't leave yet, All Might. Then they were both in the air, Izuku holding onto All Might's leg. "Please, I need to ask you something." All might blanched "What are you doing Kid. This is extremely reckless and I must be going quickly." Izuku could feel the tears leak from his eyes "Please All Might, your my hero and I need to ask you something very important to me." All might sighed and began to land on a tall building. When they landed All Might began "Sorry Kid, I don't have much time. So if you are going to ask me something make it quick, Please." Izuku's eyes widened and he started his question "I was wondering if I could ever become a hero, like you. All my life people have been putting me down and saying my dream is too far fetched because I'm quirkless. But, I've always held onto the dream that one day I could be a hero just like...You?" Abruptly, a cloud of steam began to disperse revealing a skinny blonde man where the hulking hero once stood. Izuku stood there shocked "Who are you? Where's All Might? He was just here." The man stared back with a sad look "Actually, I am All Mi-ahhh" blood then started flowing out of his mouth. The man coughed and wiped at his mouth. He lifted up his shirt to show a terrible wound on his side. Then he began to recount the story of how he got it. Finally All might finished by saying "So honestly, I don't think you can be a hero. Not without a quirk. It's just too dangerous. You can have grand dreams, just make sure their realistic. You could be some other kind of hero like a police officer or paramedic." All might past Izuku and patted him on the shoulder. Even my hero doesn't think I can be a hero. Just like what Kacchan said, my dreams aren't realistic. I can never be a hero without a quirk. Why was I born in such a terrible world? In the moment he remembered Kacchan's suggestion. Now the idea of a swan dive seemed more reassuring than returning home or school as a complete failure. A shell of the joyous boy who worshipped All might and heroes. The society he thought was so cool had just broken him. He slunk toward the edge of roof. In the distance, he could see a plume of smoke billow into the air. Seems the real heroes are needed again. I just wish that I could help people. That's all I've ever wanted to do. Why can't people see that. All they see is a quirkless boy with dreams too big for his own good. Finally he peeked over the edge and saw a desolate street. Seems the fire has everyone's attention. Any other day and I would be just like them. Sadly, I won't be like that ever again. With one more step he felt the wind rush past him as he fell towards his end. I'm sorry everyone for being in the way of your dreams. I'm sorry that I drove Dad away. I'm sorry I made you overwork yourself Mom. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
Time began to slow and the ground began to shrink as he felt his body rocketed off into the sky. The surroundings with replaced with a bright golden light. While wondering what was happening a figure came forward. "Hello, Izuku. Do you wish to be a hero above all heroes." Izuku started in shock and wonder at a pair of big white eyes "How did I get here? What's happening?" The figure spoke "We have been searching for someone to inherit our power. Do you wish to be a great hero?" Izuku shuddered at the sudden magnitude of his question "Yes. That's all I've ever wanted. To be a hero. Are you saying you can make me one?" The figure shook his head "No, but I can surely give you the means to become one. In return, I need you to protect this planet from some incoming threats." Izuku stared in wonder "What kind of threats?" The figure opened his palm and an image of a giant dinosaur looking beast rampaging through a city "The alien kind. These aliens are monstrous beings that want to destroy planets and the last of my race. My race is dying and I can't protect this planet by myself." The image showed the beast destroying everything in its path. All he could think about was his mother and all the innocent people "I'll do it, but I have some questions. First, why me?" The figure closed his palm and held his hand over a a blue crystal in his chest "I chose you for two reasons. The first being, that you have a true heart of gold. You care for everyone and everything, even those who hurt you. Second, this is a mutually beneficial situation. I give you my power and save you from your death, while you will house my power and protect the legacy of my race." With a puzzled look on his face Izuku responded "So, I'm still falling?" The figure nodded. Izuku began again "Ok, well next question. What race are you and what kind of power will I get?" The figure chuckled a bit "My race are known as The Ancient Giants of Light. My power will come to you soon. It will grown within you. Gradually you will discover its secrets. So, be patient and find out for yourself." The figure reached out towards him "Well thank you for this, even for thinking of me. It means a lot. I will do my best to protect this planet and your race. I will live with everything I have. Thank you so much for giving me another chance. I'll change for you and get better so I can wield this power and protect people." Izuku took the figures hand and suddenly his silhouette was illuminated.
