Hello everyone! This is my first fanfic so I hope you guys will strap in. Please forgive any spelling or grammar issues. I don't have anyone to help me with prof reading this and I'll absolutely wind up missing some things here and there. Anyways, I hope you guys will enjoy regardless!

Note: I do not own Pokemon.

*BEEP!* *BEEP! *BEEP!* "Ugh... Guess it's that time now." I said as my alarm blared. My name is William, but you can call me Will. I live with my grandma and basically help her whenever she needs me. She has nerve problems and has issues getting around and doing things so I chose to stay with her and help her for as long as I need to.

It was an average, monotonous Wednesday, just like the weeks and weeks before. I groaned as I got out of bed and looked around my room that was the size of a closet.

"Hmm... Wonder what to wear today," I said as I looked inside my even smaller closet filled with cloths and other random items, "I'm thinking... Same as always."

I pulled out a black pair of cargo shorts and a white undershirt while looking over to the chair next to my T.V. and setting the cloths aside. "Ugh, where the hell did my jacket go," I said as I glanced around my room. After a few seconds of looking, I decided to find it after my morning shower.

I looked into my drawers and pulled out a fresh pair of underwear, grabbed my undershirt and shorts from the chair, and made my way to the shower.

After drowsily making my way to the shower , I undressed and turned on the water. "Now, it's time to stand in warm water for a solid ten minutes," I mumbled under my breath as I stuck my hand under the water to feel if it was heating up.

Once it was warm, I stepped into the shower and promptly washed up, taking special care to wash my hair. I have pretty long, curly hair and it tends to get dry, so I either have to condition it or cut it and I hate cutting my hair.

Once I had finished my morning shower, I dried both myself and the floor off and got dressed for school. I went into the living room and spotted my jacket on the chair where I left it. "Oh, good... Man, my memory needs work," I said as I pulled the hoodie over my head.

My hoodie is a nice dark blue with a big patch of navy blue on the front. I had found it for sale at the store and bought it for only ten bucks. "Ahh, there we go, ready for the day... Mostly." I still had to find my shoes and eat breakfast, which was usually just a pop tart or a granola bar.

My grandma, who I'm currently living with, used to make breakfast but stopped after I had asked her to take it easy. She has a nerve issue in her left leg and has a hard time moving around like she used to. I try to help her as best as I can, but everyone in my family is as stubborn as a bull.

By this time, she's gone to pay my great-grandma a visit. I swear, they both wake up at the crack of dawn. Crazy women. I saw her note she left for me on the front door, grabbed it, and promptly put it on the pile. They're all the same. I grabbed my phone I'd left to charge and typed out a response to the letter.

Once that was done, I grabbed my black shoes with blue highlights and a granola bar and made my way to my car. I drive a blue... Well, I'm honestly not sure what it is. I've never been a big car person. The important thing is that it gets me where I need to go without too much trouble.

I quickly turned the key and started her up. She promptly hummed to life as I looked in my rear view mirror and to both sides to make sure I was good to back up.

I lived in a pretty nice neighborhood and usually had no issues getting out of the driveway. My neighbor has this bad habit of parking on the road sometimes and when he does that I have to take it extra slow. I had just gotten my license and wasn't all too comfortable behind the wheel yet.

I pulled out successfully and began the dull drive to my high school. My days at school mostly consisted of sitting through my classes until I get to go home and do literally anything else. The drive itself was a dull one, the same as most days with nothing eventful happening. My mind began to wonder during the drive.

'I wonder what will happen today? I don't think too much will be going on, no tests that I know of at least. Theater class should be fun, but it usually is. I wonder if Austin will be there? I still gotta touch trade my Reshiram for his Zekrom. I'll talk to him about that today in class. It's a shame we can't do that in school itself, but they still have that dumb rule about about no phones or electronics.'

This train of thoughts continued until I began pulling into the school parking lot. It was mostly empty since I usually get there early and wait for my friends to arrive and classes to begin. I parked in my assigned spot and began the process of getting out of my car, grabbing my bags which I had purposefully left in my car, and heading into the large, cold steel doors of the school.

As I began walking through the barren halls, I began humming some of my favorite music to myself. I had begun to get really into Friday Night Funkin' songs and had downloaded a quite a few original and remixed songs from that game.

I had begun to quietly hum "Chiller" to myself as I made my way to a particular group of lockers me and my friends gathered around in the mornings.

Once there, I sat down and discreetly pulled out my phone and made my way to my contacts. "where you guys at?" I texted to the group chat we had all created. Not even a few seconds later, I felt my phone buzz quietly, signaling that I had gotten a reply. I looked on my phone and saw, "Almost there. Running later than usual. Also, put ur damn phone away lmao :p"

"Pff, whatever," I said as I rolled my eyes and put the phone away. I looked down the bleak, empty hall and began to feel my thoughts beginning to wonder again.

'Hmm... I've been watching some competitive videos on the newest pokemon game. It's interesting so far epically after they cut down the roster. I hate losing over half of the pokemon, but it does make the competitive seen more interesting to me.'

If you can't tell by now, I'm a huge pokemon fan. I've always loved pokemon since I found it when I was younger. My first game was Pokemon Black on my DS and I played that game religiously even if I had little to no clue what I was doing. I just saw cool monsters and fell in love. I had always loved animals in real life, studying insects and arachnids in particular. My favorite type was bug, go figure. Ever since seeing a venipede I was enamored with it and all the other bugs. I caught all the bugs I saw in my first run.

I loved just about everything about pokemon, but had been growing out of the games as of late. I still kept up with the series, but did not have the newest console and did not want to play Sword or Shield. I was content to view from a distance.

I was jostled from my daydreaming by a hard slap on the back followed by a, "What's up, Will?"

I turned around and saw another friend standing there with a smile on his face. "Hey Gabe, nothin' much. Anything going on with you?" He pulled off his bag and dropped it to the floor with a loud thump.

"Just finished studying for a Psychology test. Quizzed myself while I ate. Should be easy. Oh, I watched that video you sent me also. That was a trip! Weird shit," he said as he rooted around in his bag for one of his card decks and began to shuffle it absent-mindedly.

"I feel bad for him but he was also kinda his own worst enemy. I hope his mental state has improved." I looked at him shuffling and wondered how in the hell he was doing that. I could never get the hang of it.

"Yeah, same. From what else I know he got off the internet completely by now. Took him long enough to learn. I just hope he's getting help he needs now."

We continued talking for about thirty or so munities until the class bell rang. We promptly said our goodbyes and headed to our classes.

I begrudgingly made my way to the art room and looked in at our table. There I saw two more close friends sitting down and just about yelling at each other over a game of cards. They were both girls, one was named Maya and the other was named Danny.

Maya was a short, dark haired girl who I was good friends with. She usually wore a light brown jacket over a bland shirt. We often exchanged insults back and fourth while she got mad at me for screwing her over in cards or talking about games.

Danny, the other girl, was much the same but a bit more reserved. She was a dirty blonde, fairly short and a bit plumper than Maya was. She usually started the day very high energy but would usually crash as soon as third period rolled around.

They were both really good friends of mine and I'd often find myself relying on them to get through the days boredom in the classes I had them in.

They saw me making my way over and waved before Danny began dealing out another hand and Maya said, "Sup Will, Danny just delt you another hand. You ready?" she asked in a smug voice.

"Yeah I'm ready, ready to kick your ass!" I said jokingly as I picked up my, quite frankly terrible, hand and played my first card.

"Anyways, what did you two do last night?" I asked.

Maya spoke up instantly and said, "I had a DND session last night, then made fun of some gay guy talking in my DMs." I laughed at this. She loved to go for that in particular.

I looked at her and said, "Hahaha, yeah laugh it up. Can't believe I get bullied by someone who's 4'9."

I saw her laughing from the corner of my eyes as I glanced down at my cards again, "Anyways, what about you Danny? How have you been?"

I looked over at the girl to my left. "I've been alright. Had some arguments with some people, but I'm fine now. I just hope it all blows over soon," she said while looking at her hand.

I could tell by the way she was talking that she was trying to hide being upset. I lightly tapped her shoulder to get her attention and softly asked her if she would like to talk about it a little bit. She swiftly replied with a quiet, "No, I'm good." before looking at her hand again.

I sighed softly, she seemed to always be dealing with some new drama. I just hope everything will turn out alright.

We played and talked more, me and Maya striking up a conversation on the art style of the game "Sustenance Not Included" and continuing cracking jokes at one another. Art was an elective, like theater, so it really wasn't hard. It was like a free period actually. We played cards and talked the whole period until it was time to go.

Once the bell rang, we put up the cards, said our goodbyes, and made our way to our next classes.

I walked to the my next class, waving and nodding at a few other friends in the hall as I passed them.

After arriving at my next class, I sat in my desk and waited. After some time, a very thin boy with very dirty blonde hair and wearing a black and green jacket began to walk into class. I say walk, but it was more like an awkward shuffle mixed with an alien not knowing how to walk. This was Austin.

Austin did this kind of thing every single day without fail. He was certainly a very eccentric person, but an amazing friend all the same. He proceeded to "walk" all the way to his chair and sit down, taking out his notebook and scribbling the notes on the board. I usually just got him to send his notes to me over text.

After he was finished, he looked over at me and said, "Hey Will, what's been goin' on with you?"

"Nothing much," I said as I pretended to write my notes down, "My grandma's MS has been getting worse and she'd having a tougher time getting around. Oh, and I need to touch trade you in pokemon later. Really wanting to complete my dex just to say that I could."

Theater was pretty easy. All I really had to do was pay attention, and since theater and acting in general is a passion of mine, that wasn't hard to do in the slightest.

He looked at me with worry evident in his eyes and said, "Oh, I'm sorry to hear that about her. I hope she improves soon."

I looked up from my scribbled on paper and said, "Yeah, I do also. Even if she annoys the living hell out of me, she's still my grandma. I'm doing whatever I can but, to be honest, I'm afraid it's not enough."

By this point, my eyes had begun to water slightly. Sure, my grandma was annoying at times, but I really did care about her. She practically raised me. My parents lived next door to her before moving away and I would often spend the entirety of my days over at her house.

Austin noticed my eyes watering, put his hand on my shoulder, and said softly, "I feel you man, but you gotta remember that there are some things that are just out of our control. You're trying your best, that's all that anyone could ask for. Things will be alright, no matter what happens."

I wiped my eyes with my sleeve and said, "You're right. I'm just... stressed is all. Espically after seeing her recent searches. She's been looking up signs of cancer and I'm just..." I cut off, worrying I'd wind up breaking down in the school... again.

Austin patted me on the shoulder and said everything would be alright again. I couldn't bring myself to believe him.

Class went on and my grandma's situation temporarily went to the back of my mind. I had to focus on how to move around a stage properly for a test. The class continued to read the notes and review a bit longer until we all heard the loud *BRRRRRRING!* of the bell.

I put my notebook away, slung my heavy bag over my shoulder, and groaned, "Uuuuuugh, whelp, time for history class. I'll see you around man. Oh, and, thank you for the talk earlier. I needed that." I meant it too.

He looked up from his bag, smiled, and replied, "It's no prob man, anytime!" I looked at him and smiled slightly before we went our separate ways.

Back to those white halls again as I sauntered my way to my history class. This was my third class of the day and also my favorite. Why, because lunch is in the middle of it of course.

Danny was in this class as well as another friend of mine named Chris.

Chris was an average height, fairly bulky guy with short brown hair. He was the son of one of the teachers in school and was very musically inclined. Most of my friends were musically inclined, actually. I was good at singing myself, not so much at playing, but I digress.

Chris was super smart also. He aced most of his classes with little effort and was usually the person I relied on in my math classes to not fail.

As I walked into the class, I saw Chris and Danny sitting in their respective desks, Danny eating some jerky she'd snuck in within her backpack and Chris tapping away on his desk with a pencil, mimicking a drum.

I made my way over to my chair and sat down, ready to get this class over with. The history teacher was super strict and had a zero tolerance policy. He would write up a student at the slightest offence. Not even the unruliest students dared to speak in that class.

He put up the notes on the board and I and the rest of the class mindlessly wrote them down. Chris looked at me over his shoulder and mimed something at me discreetly. I made out "lunch", but not much else. I nodded back and continued to write as I listened to the teacher drone on and on about some history mumbo jumbo.

Class went on like this for about thirty minutes before the lunch bell rang. I reached down for my lunch box, picked it up, and mumbled, "Finally, jeez, this class lasts fucking forever," under my breath as I left the classroom, weaved through the filled halls, and made my way to the cafeteria.

I walked through the metal double doors and sauntered over to my seat.

I sat down next to Chris and Danny before pulling out two peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and biting into the first one. Chris looked at me before offering me the chips from his school lunch like he usually did. I declined, partially because I hated those chips and partly because I was trying to cut back.

"So, what's been going on with you?" Chris asked.

Danny looked up from her remaining jerky, snatched his unopened chips, and said, "Stealing your chips, but aside from that I'm not doing much."

He rolled his eyes then looked over at me.

I swallowed down my first sandwich and said, "Well, I've been looking for part time jobs close to my house. That way I can quickly make it home if my grandma needs me." I said while unscrewing my water bottle cap.

His face morphed into an expression of understanding.

"That's good! I hope you'll find one soon. Try checking at the fast food places if you're looking for just a job in particular. They seem to always be hiring."

This conversation went on for awhile while we ate. Just like every day, Chris was good at making conversation and keeping it going.

*BRRRRRRING!*

"Damn, well, there goes the best part of the day," I groaned while gathering my trash.

Chris let me take his trash like I usually did, smiled at me and said, "Well, I guess I'll see you guys later then, bye!" Danny handed me her trash and silently made her way to the exit. She's been unusually quite today. I hope things didn't get worse.

After throwing my trash away, I sighed and made my way to my next class, English.

English was the worst class of the day to me. I usually sat alone and just read ahead in the book the class has been assigned to read.

By this point in the day, I have a lot of energy left over and usually bounce my leg a bit. It helps me sit still after being confined to a desk for a few hours. It tends to annoy most of the other students a lot, so I've tried to stop doing it so much.

After I made it to my class and sat in my chair, I pulled out my book and began to read. I was close to the end and it was a silent reading day today, so I should finish it before the bell rings again.

The clock ticked by as the silence was beginning to make my ears ring. I slowly tapped out a beat on my desk to make some noise.

Some of the other people in the class send glares my way, so I attempted to quite down and read again.

The class was a slog. It felt like several lifetimes over. Just time passing by as slowly as it could. I sighed and let my mind wander as I waited for class to end.

'Jeez this class is fucking boring,' I thought to myself, 'I hope it ends soon. I wonder what I should do once I get home? I gotta go stop by the store for some pain killers and other things. I'm not sure, I may just call some other people if they can. It's not like I really have anyone to do anything with after I get out of this hell hole. Hmm... I'd stop by the pet store and look at the reptiles if I didn't have to rush home as fast as I could to make sure my grandma was alright... I hope she is ok. I hate not knowing.'

I was snapped out of my thoughts by a tear making its way down my face and landing on my sleeve. I quickly and discreetly wiped my eyes and looked over at the class clock.

Only five more minutes. Finally. I gathered my stuff and waited impatiently for the deafening *BRRRRRRING!* of the school bell.

Sure enough, it came five minutes later. I got up and quickly made my way out of the class.

As I tried and failed to squeeze through the crowded halls without running into another person, I felt a sense of dread well up in my gut.

It was now fifth period. Math.

I muttered my grievances under my breath as I kept bumping my way through the halls, eventually making it to the very decorated doors. Math was my worst subject, I had a hard time with more advanced math and it's only gotten harder since I arrived in high school.

I begrudgingly made my way to my desk and plopped my bag down at the side of it.

I sighed once more as I pulled out my binder and sifted through the papers to find the most recent lesson.

Not long after I started copying from the board, Dan burst through the door, just barely not being late.

He made his way to his chair before throwing his bag to the floor and startling some poor new girl who almost jumped out of her seat. Dan was one of my best friends, but it took a certain person to get to know him better.

He did whatever he wanted how he wanted and no-one was going to stop him. He was a bit crude and a bit hyper, but underneath he was a really good and understanding friend.

He was a fairly tall guy, about 6'1 or 6'2, with dark black hair and wearing ripped jeans and a red and stripped unbuttoned shirt over a Nirvana shirt. He also had a "mustache" as he liked to call it, but I just called it sad.

He sat down and, per the usual, I ripped him out a piece of paper from my binder and handed it to him. He took it, pulled out a pen from his pocket and started drawing all over it.

I looked at him unamused, smirked, and said, "You know you're gonna learn nothing doing that, right?"

He rolled his eyes and said, "Bro, I don't fucking care. I just wanna go spend time with Sarah." Sarah was his girlfriend. She was a nice, shy, short girl who I didn't really know all too well.

I looked back at my paper and kept on writing, eventually saying, "I feel you man, but is the F worth it?"

He laughed, rolled his eyes and said, "Hell yeah it is! I already averaged out the grades I need to make to get a sixty-nine. I don't really care. I plan on wielding anyways. Well, that or going on with drumming."

I had to stifle a loud laugh at that.

I looked over at him in disbelief and said, "You're fucking with me, right?" He gave no response. I knew he wasn't.

This was normal honestly, I don't know why I am shocked anymore. I just sighed and kept on copying, eventually pulling out my math textbook and starting working on a few problems from the chapter we were currently working on.

It was tedious, epically with Dan sitting in front of me and just kind of doing whatever he wanted. Class went on per usual, I finished up the remaining problems and then me and Dan discussed a documentary we had come across. It was... enlightening, to say the least.

"It's just wild how far he went," I said with an exasperated sigh, "Like, I understand he has issues, but damn man. That's crazy. I do feel bad for him even if it's mostly his own fault."

He nodded his head in agreement and said, "I know, right? He did deserve some of it though. He never learns from anything! It's crazy how it's still happening even now! This makes it, what? Twenty years? Fifteen?"

I glanced at the clock and noticed it was almost time to go. I began putting my belongings into my backpack and said, "I think it's about seventeen now. I'm not sure. It's definitely crazy though."

*BRRRRRRING!*

Dan sighed. "Finally," he said as we got up to head out to the parking lot, "Felt like today would never end."

I sighed and slung my bag over my shoulders. "Yeah, one-hundred percent. This day felt like hell."

He nodded in agreement as we made our way to our cars. Once we were outside the building, we turned to each other and said our goodbyes. "See you tomorrow!" I yelled after him as we went our separate ways.

"Same! I'll see ya!" He yelled back.

As we went our separate ways, I started my slow trek back to my car.

After about a minute of mindless walking in a direction, I arrived at my car and threw the door open.

"Holy fuck today was a special hell," I said as I got into my car and threw my bag into the passenger seat, "I guess it could have been worse though. At least it's over now."

I turned my keys and my car hummed to life once more, ready to get the hell out of this place.

I pulled out of my spot and slowly tried to make my way out of the crowded parking lot. I rounded the corner that lead into the school and made my way to the store.

'Gotta get what I need, then right home to make sure she's alright.' I thought to myself.

I made my way to the store, taking great care to follow all the road safety rules. Driving always gave me tons of anxiety, but it's been getting better as I've been getting more experience.

I eventually stopped at a red light and rested my head back for a second, sighing in relief and closing my eyes.

"Almost there," I said to myself, "Just a few more minutes."

Opening my eyes again, I saw the car in front of me beginning to lurch forward. I slowly pushed the gas and began to accelerate myself.

*SCREEEEEECH!*

I jerked to the right to see another car charging full speed at me.

I closed my eyes, bracing for the impact. The car collided with the side of mine and crushed it like a car in a compactor.

Pain.

It was like white-hot fire being lit all over me. I tried to scream, but couldn't muster up the energy.

My vision began to blur as the world around me began to fade into looming darkness.

'Am I dying? Is this what dying felt like? I can't tell! I have so much to lose! I can't die yet! I have too many people depending on me! I can't die here! No! No... Nooo...'

I felt my strength fade more and more. The world was just flashing blurry colors as I finally succumbed to that black void of nothingness.

'I... can't.' I thought as I lost consciousness and fell into that endless black abyss.
