If there's anything Drake Pierce has learned in the last five hundred years is perception. As time went on he and his sister have learned to read situations down to the most minute detail. Some call it paranoia while others call it survivor instinct. They needed to trust that instinct otherwise they'd be dead a long time ago.
The last half-century hasn't been easy or peaceful for the Petrova twins. Running from a psychotic original vampire and his cronies is not an easy task. Along the way, they made a few friends and many enemies. Although they were forced to split up to better their chances of survival they always come together in times of crisis.
Like right now.
"Salvatores." He muttered as he drove past the town line, entering Mystic Falls, "They're going to pay."
He remembers the last time he was here all that time ago. The Salvatores were a problem back then too. Katherine was for too infatuated with the game she made between the three to see the big picture. That narrowly escaped and it cost them the lives of two dozen vampires.
"Don't worry, Kat, I'm coming." He vowed, "I'll always have your back."
England, 1492
"Found you!"
Dragomir got a startled yelp from Katerina. He laughed when she glared at him. They've been playing hide and seek for nearly an hour and Dragomir has been winning. The elder sibling smacked her brother's arm gaining another laugh. His laughter faded as he saw tap figures over Katerina's shoulder.
"I think it's safe to say that I'm the winner sister." He said confidently, "Ready for another bout?"
"Sounds lovely." A chipper voice rang.
The Petrova twins both looked up to see Kol Mikaelson approaching, "Lord Kol." They both greeted with a curtsey and a bow.
"I was hoping that I could jump in the game." Kol offered, "I am the master when it comes to hide and seek just ask my brothers."
As if on queue the two elder Mikaelsons approached the trio, "Kol is quite right, he can be as tricky as a fox." Klaus commented, "I'm sure he can prove a challenge for you Dragomir."
"I dare not leave my sister unattended, my lord." He replied before Elijah spoke smoothly.
"Allow us to escort your sister to lunch, I'm sure she wouldn't mind." The eldest Mikaelson offered.
Katerina smiled, "Of course not." She turned to her brother, "Have your fun, I'd hate to be in the way of your enjoyment."
Dragomir only nodded before the two elder brothers walked away with his sister. Kol smirked before he snuck behind the younger man, "Shall we begin?" He asked gaining a yelp from the Petrova boy.
Dragomir frowned to himself before he smirked and turned to face Kol, "Very well but I must warn you, my lord, I never lose."
"I'm counting on that." Kol replied with a toothy smile, "I do love a challenge."
Dragomir smirked and took a step closer until they breathed the same air, "Careful, my lord, this love might kill you." He pushed Kol back before he burst out in a run, "I'll hide first!" He called back.
Kol smiled as his eyes darkened, "I always did love the chase."
Pulling up to the end of the road he sighed before he reached into thr glove compartment and pulled out his grimoire. Climbing out of the car he looked around and quickly recognized his surroundings. He began to trudged his way through the familiar terrain keeping a keen eye for the ruins. Breaking off a few branches along the way he finally spotted the ruins.
Finding the way down he sighed, "Here I come, Kat."
The first step down sent jolts through his body the magic flowed through his body like electricity. He let out a shaky breath before he continued on his way down. Descending down the stairs the air began to feel thick like smoke filling his lungs. Arriving at the tomb he gave the cavern a once over before his eyes landed the stone door with a pentagram carved on it.
"Found you." He muttered before he plunged the branches he took into the ground in a pentagram. Approaching the stone door he gripped the sides before he removed the door. He moved the door to the side revealing the darkness inside, "Katherine?" He called out and received only silence, "Katherine are you in there?"
Just for a moment he felt doubt that perhaps he was wrong.
"Took you long enough." The all too familiar voice echoed from inside, "I was beginning to think this twin link thing stopped working."
"It took me a while to find the right spell to lift this barrier." He said shrugged, "The Petrova Grimoire is extensive."
"The spells been lifted but that doesn't matter." Katherine replied leaning against the wall, "Elijah compelled me to stay in here until he says otherwise."
Drake took a short pause before he approached her, "In that case." He quickly flicked his wrist and snapped Katherine's neck, "You can't defy Elijah but I can." He said before he approached her and picked up her limp body over his shoulder.
"You stink." He commented before they exited the tomb.
"Where is he?" Dragomir muttered exhausted.
He looked desperately around the woods for Kol. He's proven to be a man of his word. Kol found him so fast it was humiliating. Ever since then he's been looking for Kol. It was strange, whenever he felt close to finding him Kol's laughter echoed through the forest.
"Giving up?" Kol teased.
Dragomir scoffed, "Never."
"Stubborn. I like that but you must know that it's hopeless." Kol's voice echoed throughput the forest.
Dragomir didn't reply as he looked around before he sighed. Kol continued to taunt him as he tried to concentrate. A tingling sensation overcame his body. Opening his eyes he smirked before he looked up. High above amongst the trees he saw Kol standing on a thick branch.
"Found you!" He declared looking up at the man who slowly clapped.
"Impressive, truly." Kol praised.
"What's impressive is how high you are. How did you get up there so quickly?" He wondered aloud.
"I've been climbing since before I could walk." Kol called down.
Dragomir laughed, "Funny. Now it's my turn to hide." He began to walk off.
A hand grabbed his shoulder and spun him around forcing him to be face to face with Kol, "I'm bored of this game."
Dragomir blinked in shock before his gaze darted up at the high branch Kol was perched on just a moment ago, "Well what would you like to do, my lord?"
"Star gazing." He answered getting a credulous look from Dragomir, "The stars will be especially beautiful tonight.
Dragomir swallowed, "Sounds wonderful, my lord."
They walked in silence as Kol lead Dragomir through the woods and into a large clearing. Trailing behind Kol, Drake looked around uneasily he felt a tingle in his spine as if in warning. This feeling made his stomach twist and his throat dry. The feeling got continually worse as they made it to the center of the clearing.
"This should be a good spot." Kol declared looking up at the moon.
"It's breathtaking." Dragomir said before he Kol stood before him, "My Lord?" He asked before a bloody hand was forced over his mouth.
Dragomir struggled against the unimaginable strength Kol possessed. The original broke his arm causing him to scream into the hand forcing the blood in his mouth. Kol laughed at his suffering before he snapped Dragomir's neck.
"Nik and Elijah aren't not the only ones who can have fun with a Petrova." He smiled down at the soon to be vampire.
Leaning against the wall of the alley Drake sighed, "Eat up."
Katherine ignored her brother as she continued to feed on the drunk woman who stumbled out of thr Mystic Grill. She had been deprived of blood for weeks and is entirely on feeding. Drake watched as she finally bled the woman dry and took a breath of relief.
"It won't be long before they see that I've escaped." Katherine pointed out as she wiped her face with the woman's shirt, "They'll suspect I had help."
"Let them make their assumptions. They'll never figure it out." Drake replied opening a garbage can, "Not even the Salvatore brothers know you have a brother of your own."
"Let alone a hybrid brother." Katherine added before she tossed the body into the garbage, "Elijah's here, even with all of your power you can't stop him."
"Klaus can handle his brother once the curse is broken." He replied with a smirk, "We're going to help Klaus. We're going make it so that we are sole reason he becomes a hybrid again."
Katherine rolled her eyes, "I tried that and I ended up in that damn tomb."
"That was because you were going it alone." Drake reminded, "You and I are different Kat. You love the theatrics and attention but I like being the invisible hand behind everything unseen and unnoticed before it's too late. I'll admit both of our methods have varying degrees of success."
Katherine smirked, "But when we work together. . ."
"We're unstoppable." Drake finished.
