If you haven't read Savage Love, I suggest you read that first. As this is the sequel. I will start where I left off for no confusion.

Chase looks at Ryder, tears streaming down his furry face. "I'm sorry, Ryder. Kittypaw gave you her life. She's dead."

"NOO!" Ryder cries pulling me close. I'm watching from a distance. No one can see me. I'm dead. Dirt was flecked across my matted pelt, which was also covered in Ryder's blood. He's fine now, no sign of injury thanks to my diamond.

I couldn't just let him die, I had power to help him! So, I did and I don't regret it. The diamond will bring me back to life anyway, after it recharges itself. Ryder won't let go of the hope of that happening, which will make all of this a lot easier.

"Kittypaw. It's time to go." Silverstar says, beckoning with her tail.

"But what about Ryder? I have to keep an eye on him!" I protested.

"You can still watch over him. Follow me." Silverstar led me into a starry forest, teeming with mice. But, I'm not hungry.

"What about my kits? They need to be fed milk!" I stopped.

Silverstar turned around. "We can leave a sign."

"A sign?"

"Yes. We'll have a puddle of milk on the floor in the kitchen and have your kits start drinking that. Then Ryder will know that they still need milk." She explained.

"How are we going to do that?" I ask.

"We're magical up here." She says, a gleam in her eyes.

Like my diamond. I look around me. This place feels nothing like home!

I take a deep breath and gasp. "I need Ryder's scent! I can't breathe without it!"

"I'm sorry. Ryder's not here. You won't find his scent anywhere." She presses against me. I let out a wail of grief. "It's okay. You'll join him soon."

"When? I won't last here long!" I say.

"Come. I'll show you around." She leads me into a sunny clearing with a lot of rabbits. "Feel free to hunt."

"Oh, I can't…" I say.

"Too used to Ryder feeding you?" She jokes.

"No. I hunt for myself. It's just that I'm not hungry." I explain.

"I know. It was a joke that I thought was funny. Guess it wasn't." She licked my ear. "That's understandable."

I sighed with sadness. I miss Ryder so much! Silverstar nudges me into the clearing. "You're going to miss the sunshine hole if you don't hurry!" She growled.

"The 'sunshine hole'?" I repeat.

"Yes. The sunshine hole." She stopped at a hole filled with diamonds that catch the sun.

"Whoa!" It was so bright, that I couldn't look at it directly!

"This is where we come to share tongues." She says. "And meet new foxes."

I look at my paws. Ryder… Silverstar looks at me. "You really miss him don't you?"

Before I could answer, a female fox and her kit came over. "This kit needs a female with milk to watch over her. Do you think you can help?"

"Well, I-I'll feed her, b-but I won't b-be here f-for long." I stutter. I'm shaking, it's the air here, it's got no scent of Ryder. It's starting to get to my head.

The poor little baby looks at me. "I want to go home."

"I do too, sweetie. Come and get some milk." I say. The baby fox trots over to me as I lay down. She starts to suckle and I lick the fluffy fur on the top of her head. "I name you Spirit. Eat well, little one."

Silverstar wags her tail. I close my eyes. I miss my kits. Hey, she's about the same age as my kits I wonder…

"She can go with you." Silverstar yips. "Follow me to the pool. Look."

I look into the pool, Spirit at my side. "Ryder!"

"He can't hear you yet." She said.

"Yet?" I look at her questioningly. "What do you mean yet?"

"He's still drifting in and out of consciousness. we'll be able to walk in his dreams in a minute." She explained.

"But, he's going to be okay, right?" I ask. He tried to sit up then fell back with a moan.

"Touch your nose to the pool." She ordered. I obeyed and Silverstar and Spirit followed beside me.

Almost at once, we were torn away from the warmth of the forest, pushed into darkness.

"Open your eyes." She prodded me in the shoulder. I open my eyes to find myself in a bush. "Stay here."

I look down at Spirit.

She padded out of the bush. "Ryder."

"Where am I?" I look out of the bush and see him looking down at Silverstar with fear in his eyes. He was shaking so much that I wanted nothing more than to go to him and steady him.

"You're dreaming." She responded. "I am Silverstar, Kitty's last born kit. I brought someone who would like to speak with you."

Ryder blinked in confusion. I step out of the bush.

"Kittypaw!" He kneels down to my level and started scratching behind my ears. "Why would you do that?" He pulled me close.

"I couldn't let you die. The kits can't grow up without a father. I am here to tell you how you can get me back. Use the diamond to give life to me, Scarlet can activate it. You must wait for it to fully charge."

"How will I remember that?" He asked, tears streaming down his face.

"Trust me. You'll remember. But you won't just be bringing me back. Spirit will be coming with me." I say. "I also have a warning for you. You need to take it easy for a long time. The diamond is still working on internal damage to your chest. It'll be painful, but I advise you not to over do it."

"Can I go on missions?" He asked.

"Ryder, if you over do it, you can easily have a heart attack." I said. He looks at me, a shocked expression on his face.

"But there's a catch." Silverstar added. "You must activate the diamond before the full moon reaches its highest peak."

"But, but, that's tomorrow!" Ryder said.

"When the full moon rises, it will be too late!" I yowl over the howling of the wind.

"NO! DON'T LEAVE ME KITTY! PLEASE!"
