Prologue

I shifted nervously under Chloe's calm but Stern gaze. I had kept my secret hidden up until Dawn had found out once by accident and I had kept it hidden ever since that little slip up. But now? I think Chloe has figured at least something out, but I have no clue as to what it could be.

"Listen Ash, I've noticed that you've been acting strange for the past few days. My parents as well as all of the Pokémon here in the lab have noticed as well, so spill it, what's with you?" Chloe said, leaning in close to my face. I sighed and stared at her with a calm gaze, there's no point in keeping it hidden from Chloe, she's already noticed my strange behavior, and if I don't tell her, she'll keep pressing me for answers.

I took a deep breath to prepare myself as I told Chloe everything, from my childhood to my many adventures and finally, I told her my most well kept secret... mostly well kept anyways. By the end of it, Chloe just stared, wide-eyed, not saying anything. Chloe had just opened her mouth to say something, when Go and Scorbunny came rushing into the room.

"What's wrong with you two? And Chloe, why do you look like you just saw a ghost?" Go asked, blinking in confusion while Scorbunny walked over towards me.

Go called for Scorbunny but the Pokémon was in a trance as it stared at me intently with it's wide red-brown eyes. It was then I realized that Scorbunny had figured it out by my strange sent. It made sense though, I was just beginning my menstruation cycle.

"Oh um, nothing important. No need to worry Go." I said, I had picked up on Dawn's little catchphrase. Go just blinked and Scorbunny finally went back over to Go after a few more minutes of staring at me.

"Well then C'mon! Let's go and catch some more Pokémon!" Go exclaimed, running off with Scorbunny following close behind. I sighed softly and shook my head at Go's eagerness to catch more Pokémon.

Once I was sure that Go was out of hearing range, I turned back to Chloe, who still looked a bit shocked, so was Dawn when she found out.

"Well... that actually explains a lot of things. But I just have one question, well I guess I have two questions." Chloe said and I nodded for her to continue.

"Well first off, is your name really Ash? Or is that just a nickname?" She asked, and I smiled widely at her.

"It's just a nickname, my real name is actually Ashly." I said and Chloe nodded her head.

"That's a cute name, anyways. My second question is, would it be okay if we tell my parents?" She asked, I thought for a moment before I nodded my head and we made our way back into the kitchen where Chloe's mom and Professor Cerise were chatting with Chloe's younger brother, however, they all looked up when we entered the room.

"Hi you two. What's up?" Chloe's mother asked, tilting her head to the side seriously.

"Oh um, there's something we need to talk to you about." Chloe said, shifting nervously with the hem of her school uniform as she looked up at her parents.

"What is it? You two look nervous." Professor Cerise asked, and I was the one who answered this time.

"Well to be honest, I'm actually a-" But I was cut off once again, when Go raced into the room. I gave an exasperated sigh, rolling my eyes at Go's horrible timing.
