Her tinkling laughter filled the room, much successfully catching Lelouch's attention as he turned from the files he had been checking thoroughly to the female peeking over Suzaku's shoulder, and tittering in a silly fashion. All other times, he had twitched a brow and had shaken his head at how perfectly disruptive this girl could be. Today, actually, lately, he hadn't been bothering quite so much about it. Perhaps stealing a sneaky glance too.
Those three were about the only ones in the Student Council Room, save for Suzaku's cat. Milly had gone out for another one of her frivolities, Rivalz having trailed after, most obviously, while poor Nina was only dragged along, her eyes fixated on her laptop still. Shirley was caught up with her club activities, and Kallen was absent due to her illness which would rather frequently prevent her from attending school at all.
Hence, only C.C, Suzaku and Lelouch were left to do their own thing for a while, which had stretched out into an extended hour. The vice president had been going over the accounts and whichever complicated documents incorporated it, and had been sighing exasperatedly at the wasteful squandering of money, Suzaku had yet again been attempting to pet Arthur after becoming too exhausted to continue with any more paperwork, and inevitably it was a miserable failure, for a fresh scar now adorned his wrist. And C.C. had been laughing heartily at that short incident. Those two had become quite close, and she was now perhaps his closest girl friend. Lelouch hastily shoved in whatever came to mind between the words 'girl' and 'friend', God forbid those two words ever came together, without any space! It would absolutely shatter Euphemia's heart into a million microscopic pieces (or maybe he was being too dramatic, even in his imagination), and Lelouch would not appreciate his best friend choosing a girl so frisky over his cousin, who was a much better candidate to be romantically involved with the brunette.
Those were the only reasons. All others would be deemed unacceptable, despite being quite accurate.
"Man, it is so cold today.", C.C. complained, rubbing her palms together and collecting whatever minimal heat she could from the friction to keep herself warm. "Oh, you can take my jacket then!" Suzaku took his off, and there were mere inches between his hand and hers, the clothing hanging in the distance, as her fingers reached out and her mouth opened to express her gratitude, when..
Lelouch had been side-eyeing the entirety of the exchange, and for unexplainable reasons, his fist was clenched and his frown grew firmer; he scrambled awkwardly but hastily up to the two and suddenly dumped his coat onto her green head, and instantaneously walked out, leaving the pair too baffled and surprised to put their reactions into words.
It was only because Euphemia would be hurt upon beholding the sad sight of someone else in her crush's apparel. Only- he repeated as if to convince himself.
At the price of which, he himself was shivering now; at least the blood rushing to his face thawed him.
