Chapter One
A Beast Enters Beacon
Woman: Legends.
Stories scattered through time.
Mankind has grown quite fond of recounting the exploits of heroes and villains, forgetting so easily that we are remnants, byproducts, of a forgotten past.
Man, born from dust, was strong, wise, and resourceful. But he was born into an unforgiving world.
An inevitable darkness, creatures of destruction. The creatures of Grimm set their sights on man and all of his creations. These forces clashed and it seemed the darkness was intent on returning man's brief existence to the void.
However, even the smallest spark of hope is enough to ignite change and in time, man's passion, resourcefulness, and ingenuity led them to the tools that would help even the odds. This power was appropriately named 'Dust'.
Nature's wrath in hand, man lit their way way through the darkness and in the shadow's absence, came strength, civilization and most importantly, life.
But even the most brilliant lights eventually flicker and die. And when they are gone... darkness will return.
So, you may prepare your guardians... build your monuments to a so-called free world but take heed... there will be no victory in strength.
Man: But perhaps victory is in the simpler things that you've long forgotten.
Things that require a smaller, more honest soul.
?: Or maybe it is of an outside force, one that is neither good nor evil, one that comes not from this world, but of one that was long gone...
Maybe victory is of something that is more...
Primal.
"You doing okay?" asked a young man that stood about 6'3" in height and had short, light brown hair and deep sapphire blue eyes. He was dressed in a light red t-shirt that was under a brown leather jacket with a gray hood, dark blue, borderline black, jeans, and black combat boots with red outlines. On his hands were black, fingerless gloves that also had red outlining. Though, one thing that really got attention was the necklace he was wearing, which was a light chained necklace with a large tooth hanging from it. It was a tooth that no one on Remnant, minus a few, has ever seen before, the size of a banana, and blunt at the end.
His name is Connor O'Riley, and he was currently on a Bullhead heading to Beacon with someone who has been his bestfriend for the past seven years.
The friend in question is Jaune Arc, who was a blonde haired, dark blue eyed teen about 6'1" in height and about the same age as Connor. He was in a black hoodie with reddish-orange sleeves, though the armor was covered by white armor that also covered a bit of his arms, along with brown fingerless gloves. He was also wearing blue jeans with black sneakers and on his hip was his sword, which was sheathed in his collapsible shield. He was currently was trying not to throw up due to his motion sickness. "Yeah... I think I'm- nope, no I'm not!"
Before Jaune could barf... for the fifth time... Connor slid the shorter teen a trash can that was set to his left. The blonde nodded gratefully before he proceeded to vomit into the bin. Connor sighed, not at the fact his best friend was drawing attention, but at the fact that his motion sickness got worse the higher they were off the ground. "How is it that even after seven years that your folks never once thought to see someone about your motion sickness?"
At this time, Jaune finally got over it momentarily before replying; "They said that it would go away eventually. Even after seven years."
"So eventually," Connor muttered, and then formed a smirk, "like how you believe your pick-up line will work eventually."
"It will!" Jaune defended himself... "Eventually."
Connor rolled his eyes in amusement before patting his blonde friend's back before saying; "Well, you'll have plenty of chances to test out that pick-up line when we get there." He gestured his head out towards the large tower, Beacon Tower to be exact.
Jaune looked up towards the tower as well, and then a thought came across his mind as a guilty conscious then came out. "Do you really think it was a good idea to forge our transcripts," Jaune whispered quietly enough for only Connor could hear him, and the blonde definitely knew that he could hear him.
The brown haired teen looked to his slightly shorter friend and shrugged, "For starters, that was your idea to do that, not mine. I was more than comfortable enough to try the course, plus I'm sure with the training that I gave you, you would have been able to get in, even if they saw it as pity, but we can't change the past, bud. Besides, we're already approaching the joint, ain't like we can turn back now, unless you can grow wings."
"You can," Jaune retorted.
"That's need to know until the 'initiation'," Connor replied with a grin.
'You just want to get women's attention,' said a deep and wise-cracking voice from in Connor's head.
The young man mentally shrugged at the voice; 'Eh, it's our power after all, so it's just as much you as it is me, Ghast. You still have that wild streak from your time with those 'Gods' if what you told me is enough after all.'
He could hear the old immortal's voice chuckle in his head, which got him to remember just how this started to be a thing. It really began when he was born, since they were kinda connected to the soul, but Ghast's voice really started talking to him when he turned seven, after he was orphaned and was surrounded by Grimm... when he transformed for the first time. Since then, Ghast has been teaching him how to be what he was told was a Chimera, and Ghast was apparently one so powerful that he was able to keep up with three Alpha Gods at once, but he wasn't sure if Ghast was being honest about it or not. Three years after Connor first began trying to master his newfound powers, he met a young Jaune Arc playing with a wooden toy sword... and well, they've been the best of friends ever since.
He was then pulled from his thoughts when the hologram of some blonde woman in with a ragged purple cape, glasses, and an outfit that just screamed teacher appeared on the screen, that was once showing the news. 'Hello, and welcome to Beacon! My name is Glynda Goodwitch. You are among a privileged few who have received the honor of being selected to attend this prestigious academy. Our world is experiencing an incredible time of peace, and as future Huntsmen and Huntresses, it is your duty to uphold it. You have demonstrated the courage needed for such a task, and now, it's our turn to provide you with the knowledge and the training to protect our world.'
Just like that, the hologram disappeared and that's when everyone started looking out the window, including Jaune, which caused Connor to sigh. "Man, if you knew that was gonna happen, then why bother looking out?" Connor asked with a shake to his head before Jaune started looking for yet another trash can, gagging via motion sickness yet again, and just as he was searching for one for his friend, Jaune raced past two girls.
One was a short girl black hair and red tips, and was wearing a mainly black combat dress with red at the bottom of it, along with combat boots with a similar color scheme. She was also wearing a red cape that appeared to have a hood on in, but something he noticed when she turned and looked to Jaune's retreating form was that she had silver eyes. It was rather surprising, he has never seen an individual with silver eyes, but he has heard the tales. They were said to be among the most powerful warriors of all of Remnant.
And he would be going to school with one... neat.
The second one also got his attention, as she had a wild mane of blonde hair and was dressed in a short-sleeved brown leather jacket that stopped at her midriff, along with black shorts that had a brown belt around them. She had brown boots with orange socks coming out of them. She also seemed to have yellow gauntlets on her wrists, and when she turned, he noticed the lilac colored eyes that he couldn't help but look at for an extra second.
He couldn't help to think she was attractive.
'Reminds me of the Amazons I've met back in the day,' Ghast spoke up from within his head, making Connor roll his eyes in amusement before he heard one of them speak up.
"Well... I guess the view isn't for everyone," said the blonde as they watched Jaune find yet another trash can. It made the Chimera snort in amusement. If only she knew.
The smaller girl added with; "It was a nice moment while it lasted."
The blonde then turned to the window before asking the shorter girl the following; "I wonder who we're gonna meet!"
"I just hope they're better than 'Vomit Boy'," the short girl replied, making Connor frown. Can't really blame Jaune for being motion sick, that's just bad luck, but still... things were shaping to get rather interesting for him and Jaune. That was when his sense of smell met the bad odor of vomit. Connor looked around for a second before his eyes looked down and he couldn't help but snort as he tried his best not to burst out laughing as he was surprised it hasn't been noticed yet.
The short girl looked over and saw that he was about to explode out of laughter and had a confused look on her face, that is... until he pointed down towards the blonde's shoes. When the red haired girl looked down, her eyes bugged and she backed away. "Oh, Yang, gross, you have puke on your shoe!"
The blonde, who Connor could only assume was Yang, then looked down and noticed, and then she too started to freak out. "Gross, gross, gross..."
As she repeated this, the smaller girl kept backing away.
"Get away get away! Get away from me!"
It was that little scene that broke all restraint of amusement Connor had as he then began laughing; "Pft! Hahahahahaha! Dammit Jaune... hahahaha! I know I shouldn't be laughing... hahaha! That's just to funny though!"
That was the moment Connor realized that following Jaune's lead and getting into this place might end up being more fun than he previously had thought, especially if the people here are going to be as entertaining as these two girls were.
"Jaune, how are you still sick!?" Connor asked in shock as they were now outside the airship. Jaune was now trying to recover as he hanged out by a trash can just outside of where they landed. The brown haired teen wanted to look around, but he knew he should probably stay and make sure his friend was gonna make it. Not even five minutes onto Beacon grounds and Jaune was about to puke out his intestines.
Jaune, who was leaned over one the trash can, looked up groggily before replying. "Bad luck, I guess."
That got a nod from the Chimera as he then patted the blonde on the back; "Think you'll be fine long enough for me to grab our luggage?"
"Yeah, sure," Jaune said as he gave Connor a thumbs up.
With that, Connor walked on ahead, looking for where he was to claim their luggage. He was really looking for something from his bag in particular. You see when he turned fifteen, Ghast told him about something he had asked before his soul was reincarnated on Remnant, something the Gods he use to know seemed to keep their word on as he found an old duffel bag filled with a few things, including the leather jacket he was currently wearing. Another thing was a chip that fitted right into his scroll, and that was how he was introduced to Earth's music.
As he rounded the corner, he saw what he was looking for... the same duffel bag he received Ghast's 'care package' from, which was a red duffel bag with black outlines to it, and a wooden case that held all of Jaune's stuff. With a sigh, he easily picked up the case and held it on his shoulder while slinging the duffel bag over the other. When he turned around, he found a now recovered Jaune who seemed to have caught up with him. "You feeling better, buddy?"
"Yeah, yeah I'm good! I'm a little hungry now, but other than that I'm good," Jaune admitted as they turned and made their way off the ramp, being the last ones to exit the airship.
When they exited, Connor couldn't help but whistle at the view that was before them, while Jaune looked on in awe. They were finally at Beacon. "Remember when you first told me about your dream to be a Hunter," Connor asked Jaune as they looked at the tower that stood before them.
Jaune nodded; "I half expected you to laugh at me like all the other kids did."
"You know I'm not like all of those jerks, besides, I don't even see any of them here, so you know... in their faces."
That got a smirk from the young Arc as he then looked to Connor; "Are you here because you want to be a Hunter, or because you are wanting to be my 'wingman'?"
Connor shrugged; "A bit of both," he admitted, "not trying to be mean man, but you have a hard time seeing what's right in front of you some times."
"I know," Jaune said as he looked down, but Connor nudged him as he gestured forward. Jaune gave his friend a smile as the two then made their way forward, but before they could make their way to the main building itself, their was a loud explosion that happened, which got their attention. "What was that!?"
"Only one way to find out," Connor said as he gestured Jaune to follow him as they walked towards the front area, which they bypassed completely, just to see the short girl in the red cloak sink to her knees and then lay down on her back. The two boys looked to each other for a moment before Connor gestured towards the girl on the ground, with Jaune then taking the lead.
When they got close enough Jaune spoke up as he held out a hand; "Hey..." he said, which casued the girl, who's eyes were closed, to open her eyes and look up and see the two standing there. "I'm Jaune."
"Ruby," the girl replied with a smile as she took Jaune's hand, who pulled her up gently. She then looked at them before she seemed to remember something; "Aren't you the guy who that threw up on the ship?"
Connor cracked a smirk at the comment before adding with sarcasm; "So judgemental, am I right," he said as he nudged Jaune who sighed and nodded, answering Ruby's question.
Minutes later, after dropping off the luggage at the drop-off, Connor, Jaune, and Ruby were walking through school grounds, with Jaune ranting about motion sickness. "All I'm saying is that motion sickness is a much more common problem than people let on!"
"To be fair Jaune, I've never seen someone have it as bad as you," Connor told his friend, who gave him a 'really' look as they continued down the path they were walking on.
Ruby giggled a bit before attempting to apologize for the nickname she gave Jaune; "Look, I'm sorry Vomit-boy was the first thing that came to mind."
"Oh yeah, what if I called you Crater-face?" Jaune asked.
Ruby looked at him and pouted; "Hey, that explosion was an accident!"
"Besides," Connor put his two cents in, "there wasn't really a crater, just some fire, and I think a bit of ice, but no... not a crater."
"You're not helping me out here, Connor," Jaune told his friend before facing Ruby; "Well, the name's Jaune Arc! Short, sweet, rolls off the tongue, ladies love it!"
The only girl of the group gave the blonde a questioning gaze as she then smirked. "Do they?"
Connor barked out a laugh as Jaune held his hands up. "They will. Well, I hope they will..."
"He's been like this for the last two years," Connor told Ruby, "I keep telling him he needs new material, but ya know, old habits die hard."
Jaune rolled his eyes; "Says the guy who can just walk into a room and girls will be swarming him due to your 'Primal Roguish Charm'," Jaune said, the last part with air quotes.
"They have," Ruby asked Connor.
Sighing, Connor nodded; "And most men envy my position, but for me... it got annoying after the fifth time."
It then got silent for a moment before Ruby brought something else, changing the subject. "So, I got this thing!" She then pulled out a large mechanical scythe that was longer than she was tall, which made Connor and Jaune look on in surprise. "Whoa! Is that a scythe!?"
"It's also a customizable, high impact velocity sniper rifle," Ruby said, happy with what was her pride and joy, all the while Connor whistled impressed while Jaune was a bit confused.
"It's a gun Jaune," Connor said as he then looked at the scythe and couldn't help but be impressed by it. 'Hey, Ghast, didn't you have an ex who wielded a scythe?'
'Indeed, Lady Death was quite the scythe wielder as well, among other things, but I don't believe she managed to combine her scythe with a gun, not like this. This girl truly has an art,' Ghast replied as Connor looked at the scythe. "This is by far one of the most badass things I've ever seen," Connor admitted as he looked up at Ruby and smiled, "it's really incredible."
The girl blushed brightly at the praise, but shook it off as she then asked them both curiously; "So what do you guys got?"
Jaune was the first to answer; "Oh- uh, I got this sword." Jaune then pulled out his sword, Crocea Mors.
"Oooooooh!" Ruby said in amazement.
Jaune chuckled as he pulled out the sheathed and it shifted into the shield setting. "Yeah, I've got this shield too!"
"So what do they do?" Ruby asked, thinking they also had a gun setting.
Connor grinned before saying; "Well... it's a sword, not much to understand other than swish, swish, stab? I'm sure you can figure a shield," he told Ruby in a joking manner.
She turned to him with a deadpanned expression as she then tapped the shield, which then proceeded to fold and unfold on itself, bouncing out of Jaune's hands before he eventually caught it. "Well... the shield... gets smaller... So... when I get tired of carrying it... I can just put it away."
"But wouldn't it weigh the same?" Ruby asked, confused by the explanation.
Jaune sagged a bit. "Yeah, it does."
"At least he got a sheath," Connor pointed out.
Ruby then lifted her scythe closer to her before saying; "Well, I'm kind of a dork when it comes to weapons. I guess I did go a little overboard designing it," Ruby admitted as she was referring to her scythe.
"A laser sighting would have been cool," Connor muttered.
"Wait," Jaune said as he heard what she said, "you made that?"
"Of course!" Ruby said in happiness, "All students at Signal forge their own weapons. Didn't you make yours?"
Jaune looked to his sword before admitting; "It's a hand-me-down. My great-great-grandfather used it to fight in the war."
"He's very proud of it," Connor added, knowing how much Jaune's family legacy meant to him, and having met Jaune's family personally... he wondered how Jaune survived his sisters.
"...sounds more like a family heirloom to me," Ruby admitted as she then added; "Well I like it! Not many people have an appreciation for the classics these days."
"Yeah," Jaune said with a smile, "the classics."
It was then when Ruby turned to Connor, "So what's you're weapon?"
Connor was silent for a second before turning to Jaune; "Should I wait?"
"That's your choice," Jaune quickly told him, "though I'd make sure she won't freak out."
Ruby looked between them confused. "What do you mean?"
Connor sighed as he then took the necklace off around his neck, and right before Ruby's eyes, he changed from human to... something else. It was a cat, that much Ruby could tell, but this one was about her height! He also had a short, stubby tail, like a lynx, but it's fur was similar to Connor's hair in color, with white fur covering the underbelly. Though the main attention grabber was the teeth, as in the canines. The were similar to that of sabers, and just as long as the tooth that was hanging from his neck, the one that Jaune now held in his hand, but these were thinner... and sharper.
Just as he was the large predator, Connor was back to himself, and he then placed the necklace over his head. "So yeah, I can turn into beasts, that was a a saber-tooth cat, kinda cool is it?"
Ruby looked at him wide-eyed and was silent for a moment, which kinda concerned both boys before she spoke up. "That was... AWESOME! You're like a walking weapon! Is that all you can turn into!? What does that tooth belong too?"
Ruby's rapid fire questions took Connor by surprise before he decided to respond; "Yes, I can turn into others. In a ways, yes, I am a walking weapon, but I wouldn't present myself as such, and as for the tooth... it's for one of my more... dangerous forms. I'd show it off, but not much room and I really, really, don't wanna cause a freak out."
"I still remember when you turned into it in front of my sisters," Jaune said with a grin.
Connor shuddered; "I'd rather forget."
Ruby nodded in understanding before she frowned as she was curious of something. "So why'd you help me out back there, in the courtyard?"
"Eh, why not?" Jaune shrugged; "My mom always says, 'Strangers are just friends you haven't met yet'."
Connor nodded in agreement. "Besides, it looked like you were having it rather rough, but here's my question... where was that girl you were with on the ship?"
"She bailed on me with her friends... said that I needed to 'try and find some friends of my own' I mean it's absolutely ridiculous!" Ruby said before she crossed her arms and huffed it was then when she seemed to have gotten confused over something. "Do you guys know where we're even going?"
"Oh, I dunno," Jaune replied, "I was following you."
With an amused expression, Connor turned around, "I saw the other students go this way, I thinks that's where we'll need to be going, come on." With that, the trio made their way to where Connor saw everyone else go before.
Minutes later, the trio were walking right into Beacon's auditorium filled with all the other first years, which was something Connor wasn't much of a fan of. He was not the best with crowds, but that wasn't the real issue here... it was the noise. Due to having the hearing of some of the most deadliest predators to ever live, he was rather susceptible to loud noise, and crowds were a good source of noise.
Yet, despite the noise, they could hear one voice over it.
"Ruby!" The trio turned to the crowd and saw the blonde, Yang if Connor remembered from the ship, waving at the short girl beside him and Jaune; "Over here! I saved you a spot!"
"Oh!" Ruby said as she started towards the blonde, but then stopped and turned towards the two boys; "Hey, I gotta go! I'll see you after the ceramony!" With that Ruby took off towards the blonde, and Jaune immediately sighed in disappointment.
Connor on the other hand smiled; "Well, she seemed nice," he told Jaune and then turned to his blonde friend; "What do you think?"
"Yeah, she is," Jaune said before sighing again, "but where am I supposed to find another nice, quirky girl to talk to?"
A chuckle escaped Connor as he patted his friend on the back; "One day at a time Jaune, one day at a time," he said as they made theit way to find a spot, which actually wasn't that far from Ruby and Yang, but the two boys began to discuss among themselves. "How you enjoying it so far?"
"Eh, I guess it's going better than I thought," Jaune replied.
"You need to set yourself higher than that, man," Connor told him, "this is what you've been wanting ever since I met you. You need to be in it to win it."
"And you don't?"
Connor looked to the slightly shorter teen before stating. "I especially have to, if I don't you may eventually surpass me, and if you surpass me, you might slow down," he said with a smirk, "besides, I'd never hear the end of it from you."
That got a chuckle from Jaune; "I'm not like that."
"Sometime you are," the Chimera countered, "do I need to remind you of the arcade?"
Jaune only chuckled sheepishly, but before he could reply, they were both surprised by someone shouting not far from them; "You!"
That got both of them to turn to see Ruby, who was now in Yang's arms, hugging her for dear life, while Yang confusedly held her bridal style as a white haired girl with her hair in a ponytail and was dressed in mostly a white combat dress and had a rapier strapped at the hip, along with, for some ungodly reason, high heels. 'How could she even fight in those?' Ghast spoke up from within Connor's head.
'You're asking the wrong person, Ghast,' Connor replied as he and Jaune witnessed the rant that went on after Ruby got down and a piece of paper was shoved in her face. Them it got to the point where Yang tried to get Ruby to try and befriend the white haired chick; "Look, uh... It sounds like you two got off on the wrong foot!" Yang told them before adding; "Why don't you start over and try to be friends, okay?"
"This will end well," the brown haired teen told Jaune as they watched on.
Ruby seemed to agree with Yang; "Yeah! Great idea, Sis!" She then held out her hand towards the white haired girl and proceeded to introduce herself; "Hello, Weiss! I'm Ruby! Want to hang out? We can go shopping for school supplies!"
'Weiss' then answered quickly with fake enthusiasm and well... it kinda made her sound like a bitch. "Yeah, and we can paint our nails, and try on clothes, and talk about cute boys like tall, blonde, and scraggly over there," she said as she gestured to Jaune with her thumb, not even looking at him either.
"Hmm?" Jaune looked over in confusion.
"Or, the tall, muscled, hunk right beside him," the white haired girl added, which made Connor raise an eyebrow, especially when he realized their was no sarcasm in that line.
He then looked to Jaune; "I don't even wanna know how they got to that point," he told his friend, who was simply staring at the white haired girl, which made Connor sigh as he realized what was going on and gained a knowing look on his face. "Oh boy, here we go."
"Oh wow, really?" Ruby asked with a hopeful expression in her eyes.
One that was quickly killed by the dreaded Ice Queen; "NO."
"Damn," Connor thought out loud as Jaune was still staring at Weiss, which made Connor look at him funny. He was gonna say something, but then the Headmaster of Beacon, Professor Ozpin, appeared on the stage, and spoke into the mic.
"Ahem... I'll keep this brief. You have traveled here today in search of knowledge, to hone your craft and acquire new skills, and when you have finished, you plan to dedicate your life to the protection of the people. But I look amongst you, and all I see is wasted energy, in need of purpose, direction. You assume knowledge will free you of this, but your time at this school will prove that knowledge can only carry you so far. It is up to you to take the first step."
After he finished, Ozpin made his leave, but Professor Goodwitch walked to the mic and then spoke; "You will gather in the ballroom tonight. Tomorrow your initiation begins. Be ready. You are dismissed!"
She then left, and Connor groaned inwardly. He'd have to sleep in a room full with other teens. It's not the fact he had to, it was the fact it mean he's have to at least put a pair of shorts on. That also meant he could transform to be comfortable, not wanting to cause a freak out. "Well... I for one am hungry," he said out loud before adding, "so you wanna get some grub, Jaune?" He then looked beside him and noticed Jaune wasn't next to him. "Huh?" Connor wondered before he looked up, "dear lord."
"I'm a natural blonde, you know," Jaune said to Weiss, which got her, Ruby, and Yang to look at him, all the while Connor facepalmed.
A couple hours later, it was now night, and all the first years were in the auditorium, preparing to head on to sleep. Though for Connor, he had just exited the men's rest room, having just showered. He was no longer wearing his usual attire, but instead a simple pair of black shorts along with the necklace that still remained around his neck. He had forgotten his shirt so he was gonna have to go to his sleeping bag for that, which made him internally sigh.
'Might as well get it over with,' Ghast told him, 'I'm sure they will have more restraint than you are believing them to have.'
Connor sighed and nodded; "Yeah, a guy who has the build of a predator and a freaking tattoo walking into the middle of a room with a bunch of teenage, hormaonal girls getting full view of him, while he also has the testosterone of a bull mammoth. It'll be just fine," he said, with a hint of sarcasm as he then made his into the auditorium, and as he walked in, he could feel a few eyes going on him, either it being him or the tattoo on his back.
The tattoo probably got interest because no one here has really seen a certain kind of lizard king before and were probably curious about what it was.
It was then when he heard a whistle and glanced towards the female side of the room. He noticed quite a few were staring at him. He snorted at this, he didn't have a problem with females, hell he loved women, but he hated being crowded by them. It was something Jaune never got, as he was aspiring to be a ladies' man, while Connor can just walk up and use his signature smirk. He has indeed done it a few times to, it's not that hard, but still he doesn't try to do it in front of crowds for reasons.
Giving a sheepish grin, Connor made his way to the sleeping bags, as he also noticed that some of the guys were giving him death glares, something he didn't give a shit about. He wasn't the one to be acting like a brute, he was just built like one. One that really got the ladies' attention. Wasn't his fault, he shared a soul with an immortal shapeshifter after all. As he approached his bag, he saw Jaune already settled... with a light blue onesie with rabbit's on the feet.
"Giving them a show," Jaune joked as Connor made it to his sleeping bag.
Snorting, the Chimera grabbed a red t-shirt and tossed it over him, hearing a collective disappointing sigh from the other side of the room as he did so. "I wouldn't say that, but I think they damn sure enjoyed it," Connor said before he spoke up, "You really need to pick something other than that one piece."
"What's wrong with it?" Jaune asked, confused.
The deadpanned expression he received could say a thousand words. "It has bunny feet for starters, and it's a onesie. I mean, I'm not gonna force you, but as your best friend I have to say that it's ridiculous to look at."
"Damn," Jaune said as he looked at his onesie, "Well I can't do anything about it now," he told his friend.
"I guess not," Connor said as he then dropped back onto his sleeping back, trying to get comfortable, but due to not changing, it was getting rather difficult. He's hardly ever slept as a human in quite some time.
It was then when he let out a yawn, but it wasn't a human one, it sounded more like that of a big cat, which seemed to make people look around in confusion, all the while Jaune looked over to Connor; "Really?" he deadpanned.
"Eh, not my fault," Connor shrugged as he faced the ceiling. "I'm gonna try and get some sleep, gotta be ready for tomorrow."
"You just wanna go to sleep so you don't have to try and get comfortable sleeping as a human, do you?" Jaune asked, but it was less of a question and more of a fact due to him having known the Chimera for the past seven years.
Connor cracked a grin as he shut his eyes; "Oh you know me so well." It was then when he remained silent as he tried to sleep.
Minutes later, though, he heard familiar shouting and his eyes popped open. Groaning, he sat up and due to his eyes having night vision, he looked over and saw a candle lit up and who exactly was yelling, Ruby, Yang, and Ice Queen. He wasn't planning on yelling, but he wanted them to shut up, so one thing came to mind. Seconds later a low, annoyed, bear-like roar was directed towards the three girls, who seemed to quiet down almost immediately, which made Connor smile. "Finally!" he said before he crashed back down and almost immediately drifted off to sleep.
AN: Alright, I figured I'd try something different, but instead of someone who is automatically overpowered, add in someone who is decently powered, but not enough to overwhelm all that get in his way. So that got me to use my Chimera OC, Connor O'Riley, and boy... I think I'm doing a good job so far.
Yeah, I made him childhood best friends with Jaune, it something I thought about over the weekend. Figure it would be a fun dynamic of Connor being Jaune's wingman, but the ladies liking him more so than Jaune, but worry not, because Jaune will indeed get a lady, with or without Connor's help.
As for a pairing for Connor... to be rather fair, I'm not sure. I KNOW I want him to be paired with someone from Team RWBY, and I'm honestly thinking of either going with Weiss and keeping BumbleBY, or going with Yang and having Blake with Sun, Weiss eventually with either Jaune or Neptune, or for the surprised factor go with either Ruby or Blake and have to go from there, or hell... I could always go for Connor/RWBY or Connor/Yang/Blake or something like that.
I want your people's opinion on the matter. I'll even leave a poll for you all to decide.
Also, yes I gave Connor a tattoo on his back, of a T-Rex facing you, yeah, it's something that I thought would be cool and ironic, especially with what I plan for next chapter... and with his true Chimera form.
Anyway, next chapter is the Initiation, where Connor will most definitely show off his power, no he won't turn into something ridiculous, or nothing too ridiculous, but he will answer Ruby's question of where that tooth came from.
I hope you guys enjoyed the chapter and be sure to check out my other stories if you're interested... Peace Out.
