Wicked Fox
By NotYourMiko
With a sigh and a curl of her lip, centuries old teenage guhimo Mei Seong, looked up at her new school, Francois DuPont, with disdain.
"I can't believe she's making me go through with this, again." The girl muttered to herself as she walked up the school steps.
"You'd think after the incident in Bangkok back in the 90s would've taught her anything about me going to school." The girl was referring to her mother, who clearly had no idea how the world worked anymore ever since the Tang Dynasty. As for the incident in Bangkok, let's just say, a human friend of her's had committed suicide as a result of a human of that wielded powers beyond their control, ones they did not deserve like so many others centuries before them.
It was the first time she fed on so much energy, energy that resulted in gaining her ninth and final tail. Her mother was proud but shocked, it took Mei over 50 years to even start talking about it. They don't bring it up very often. Yet, here she was. At school. Again.
She sighed again.
When she arrived at the assigned classroom, many students had already arrived. Mei knew that her new fellow students had preestablished friendships and was hesitant to include her, that was okay, she liked being alone.
Then, that's when she felt it, tasted the thing that she loathed ever since encountering it 50 years ago, and even longer before that: the scent of miraculous magic.
Mei let out a small snarl, but then steeled herself, now was not the time. She would figure it out later. Right now she has to be Mei Seong, a normal fifteen year old girl. Mei put on her best smile, and entered the room.
She immediately dropped said smile as the room went silent upon her entrance.
The classmates whispered to each other, clearly talking about her as she took a random seat.
"Hey, you're in my seat, newbie." A female spoke a while later, Mei looked up. It was a girl with blond hair and cruel blue eyes. Mei rolled her eyes, and put her earbuds in, absentmindedly turning on a song to listen to.
"Are you ignoring me?!" The girl practically screamed.
"Yes." Mei spoke bluntly.
Then, to Mei's surprise, she got out her phone. "I'm calling Daddy! He'll boot you out of school for sure." The girl huffed.
"I'm sorry, who's your dad again?"
The girl sputtered and her face went red. "How dare you—"
"Clearly, no one important that you have to founder like a fish to respond. Excuse me." Then grabbing her school bag, she got
up and moved passed the annoying human girl. They never change do they? Humans.
"Oi! New girl!" A female voice called, Mei's head snapped up. It came from a girl with alarmingly pink hair in pink that wore a chic looking roller skating outfit. "Come sit with me and Mylene!"
The girl was grinning. "I've never seen anyone put it to Chloe like that, it was awesome!" She pumped a fist in the air for emphasis.
"Alright class, settle down." Came the voice of Ms. Bustier, Mei's new home room teacher.
"Now, of everyone is here—
A bang cut her speech off as a girl in pigtails bust into the room.
The smell of magic became stronger.
Ladybug.
This was the current Ladybug.
She could feel Tikki within the girl's purse tense, she sensed Mei's presence. Good. It's been awhile.
It's been centuries since I fed off a female, but this time I will enjoy ripping out her liver. I will savor it.
"Marinette!" Ms. Bustier scolded. "If you're going to be late, please come in quietly."
"Yes, Ms. Bustier." The girl spoke dejectedly as she went to take a seat next to a girl with glasses with auburn hair. She clearly had been in contact with Trixx. Actually, knowing Ladybug, she was biased like those before her and handed the miraculous out to her little friends. Master Fu probably was training her to be the Next Guardian, leaving the Black Cat once again in the dark, not training them and learning second hand info. Mei mentally snarled.
Mei snorted. Figures, those Ladybugs never change.
She looked over at the boy in the front row.
The Black Cat.
They've always been nice to her, never judging. After all, for one to wield destruction you had to go through a period of darkness in your life and survive.
Plagg sensed her and relaxed. Despite his carefree attitude she sensed he was happy she was around again.
Unlike, someone else.
Tikki was always judgmental, despite being sweet and kind she was vindictive when she considered someone a threat to her charges. It wasn't her fault that she and a Black Cat fell in love with one another and her Ladybug at the time had to be a total bitch about. If anything she deserved to get a smack of reality once and a while. Plus, Mei didn't even use her seduction abilities on him, it just happened!
And then, there was the fact that the Ladybug was drooling over the Cat! Mei's eyes narrowed. This was not happening. She would not let another Black Cat life end in heartbreak. Never again.
Mei's nails gripped the desk so hard she was shaking.
"Hey Mei, are you okay?" Asked Mylene from her other side.
"Yeah, I'm okay. It's just…"
Mei looked over at the bug's chosen and Plagg's kit.
Surprisingly, it was Alix who replied. "Yeah, Marinette's been stalking Adrien Agreste for a couple months now."
"Alix! Marinette doesn't stalk Adrien. She's just...really intense with what he does?" Mylene, the girl sitting next to Mei, phrased the last part like a question.
"Mylene, she has names picked out for future children, knows his entire schedule probably better than his father's assistant, has stolen his phone multiple times, sabotaged a movie to be a lead to get a kiss, and has presents planned for his next 45 birthdays. Tell me, is that stalking?" Alix named everything one of the things the girl did, ticking off a finger with each one.
Yeah, Mei was totally ripping the girl's liver out as soon as possible.
Mylene had nothing to say to that, and turned back to the lesson. Mei followed suit, taking out her notebook and pencil to jot down notes for homework that was to be assigned.
It was twenty minutes later into the lesson when Mei felt it.
Akuma, it was an akuma.
Seconds later the dark energy flared even stronger than before, the victim had succumbed to the evil Butterfly's will.
Then a loud wailing siren pierced the classroom.
"Akuma Alert. Akuma Alert. Please exit the building immediately and go to the nearest APC, Ladybug and Cat Noir shall handle the situation." The female voice came from all around them. Instantaneously, the class was in an uproar as they hurried to get outside the classroom. In the hallway various teachers were trying to maintain order as they counted heads to make sure no one was missing.
"Akuma Alert. Akuma Alert…" Came the warning again.
"What's an APC?" Mei voiced to no one.
"Have you been living under a rock? It stands for Akuma Protection Center!" A random kid yelled to her.
"Everyone, remain calm. Just remain calm." Ms. Bustier spoke, clearly trying to calm herself more than the students. Mei had a feeling that she wasn't going to be the best of teachers.
"This way, this way." Other teachers spoke as they helped Mei's fellow students exit the building.
At least some teachers are helpful.
A teacher pointed her in the direction of the APC line she was supposed to go to and she saw what the hurry was about.
A giant monster straight out of an anime was wreaking havoc like no tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the police had blocked off areas trying to corral civilians away from the fight. Except one person wasn't listening…
"Excuse me! Coming through!" Came the voice of Alya Cesaire as she bulldozed through throngs of people to get close in the action.
"Hey!" One of the police officers, a woman, cried.
"You can't be here! All civilians are supposed to be evacuated to nearby APCs. Unless those who are apart of law enforcement, a member of Ladybug's Team, or a reporter of some kind I am allowed to removed you from the premises, I let this slide since your a minor but—"
"I am a reporter!" Alya replied, insistent. She held up a badge stamped with the Ladyblog's logo and her name on.
"My name is Alya Cesaire, endorsed by Ladybug herself. Now, if you don't let me through—"
"Are you threatening me?" The police officer asked, her hand going to her gun.
"No?" Alya squeaked.
Then a fellow police officer tapped the woman on her shoulder and whispered in her ear. After a few minutes of hushed words and conversation, the police officer nodded and turned back to Alya.
"I'll let you through one condition." The officer spoke sternly.
Alya gulped.
"I'm a big fan. Can I get your autograph after this?" The officer asked excitedly.
"...Sure?" Alya said, shock written all over her face.
Then getting over it, the officer let her through as she lifted up the barricade tape and waved her through.
Suddenly, the crowd cheered and roared as a girl in a redsuit with black spots all over swung by.
Mei's lip curled in disgust at both sites, and headed in the direction of the center that she was assigned to. Or at least she tried, distracted by Alya's antics, she forgot which one it was.
Everyone was so distracted trying to get to each APC that they failed to notice a group of children under a bench right in the oath of the beast or as he was calling himself: Kaijumon . But Mei did, Mei noticed.
On instinct, Mei released the hold on her tails and by extension her power in order to make it in time. Mei dodged each attack, twisting and turning as she used her natural born abilities to reach the kids in time.
The kids screamed as the monsterous claw came down….
And was stopped simply by Mei's claws.
Mei turned to the children.
"Are you alright?" She asked softly.
The kids started up at her. They were afraid. Of her.
They huddled together as one, clutching each other
She knew what they saw. A monster in a girl's skin. Sometimes that's all she saw in the mirror. With her nine long ghostly tails, golden eyes and sharpened claws. How could they not be afraid?
Then, the red witch arrived. Ladybug.
The children cheered at their savior, Ladybug soaked it up like a sponge. "Is everyone, Okay?" The spotted heroine asked spinning her yo yo.
The kids nodded.
"Thank goodness, their was this scary lady, that stopped the monster. But we're okay and…"
Sensing she wasn't needed, Mei left just as she arrived.
The children were not the only ones that were saved day, their were others.
Mei didn't know why she did it. To annoy Ladybug? That fact that despite feeding off of life energy to survive she actually had a heart and wanted to help people? Or was it just her own selfishness to be recognized by someone for the good things she did in life? Mei didn't know. All she wanted to do was go home and take a nap.
Mei sat on the top of Eiffel Tower later that night, legs dangling precariously over the edge. She knew Ladybug and Cat Noir would began their patrol soon, and according to the Ladyblog (such a stupid name, at least try to include Chat Noir in the title) they always started here. Mei looked down at the bright city below her long black hair rustling in the wind. She sighed, picking herself up and stood looking down. A tear slipped down her check. She missed her home, not where she had lived before moving to Paris but the place that she and her kin had dwelled for centuries: Korea.
"Stop!" A female voice shouted from behind her. Mei turned around to face the voice. Her eyes widened in shock, then narrowed once realizing who it was.
"Go away." Mei spoke.
"Don't do this." Spoke the spotted heroine of Paris. "You have so much more to live for."
"That's not why I'm here!" Mei insisted. "And if anyone should be concerned for their life It should be you!"
"What?" Ladybug asked, slowing the spinning of her yo yo.
Mei unleashed her power, letting her nine tails made of stardust flare behind her. Her eyes glowed as she soaked in the power of the moon and let it energize her muscles, increasing her power.
"Akuma." Ladybug snarled, yo-yo spinning faster than before. "I should've known. What name did Hawkmoth give you? Nine-Tails? Kitsune?"
"I assure you, the Butterfly gave me no name, Marinette Dupain-Cheng." Mei hissed.
"What?!" Marinette's eyes widened, letting out a startled gasp. "How do you know—"
Mei snorted. "I smelled your miraculous magic surrounding you at school. Marinette."
"Wait, what!" the girl spoke. "You go to my school?!"
"See you in class." said Mei coming up next to Marinette, passing her to get off the Eiffel Tower. "And for the record? The proper term is guhimo."
"Wait!" Marinette shouted. "What do I tell my partner?"
Mei turned around and gave a mischievous grin, then said.
"That I'm a wicked fox, of course."
Chat Noir was more eager to met Mei than Ladybug. Which was to be expected considering what she knew of his identity as Adrien Agreste and his personal interests.
"Can I see them?" He practically squealed upon meeting her.
"My tails?" Mei questioned with a quirk of an eyebrow.
Chat nodded eagerly.
"No." Mei spoke in a deadpan voice.
"Awww, why not?" Chat pouted. "I may not know you long but I will do it, I will make kitten eyes."
"We've known each other for less than a minute, we're acquaintances nothing more." Mei huffed.
He went in for the kill. His eyes wide, Chat made the most adorable kitten eyes Mei had seen in over a hundred years.
God freaking damn it. Why am I a sucker for kitten eyes?
"Fine." Mei said begrudgingly.
Chat let out a whoop as she released her tails.
Never again, Mei thought. Never again, am I meeting these heroes.
Mei met the heroes again.
She was a wicked fox, not a friend! Why couldn't they just leave her alone! Okay, to be honest she was the one who instigated the meetings but still, they wouldn't leave her alone afterwards!
She was never getting away from them was she?
Let me know what you think! Was it good? Was it bad? Leave a review! ;)
