Let's face it; Aubrey was no Omori when it came to directions; the girl was hopelessly and completely lost. Not that it was entirely her fault! Frankly, she blamed Kel for all of this. Then again, Aubrey found herself blaming Kel for a ton of things. She still appreciated him as a friend, but man... He was a troublemaker. This time, however...it was 100% his fault. What had occurred; After finally allowing Hero to go free, Jawsum had kicked them out of the last resort. She was so ready to forget that place. it induced nightmare fuel after all; so many receptionist calls! When they took the water Taxi back to deep well, Kel pulled his worst trick ever! He tossed Mr. Plantegg out the window, just because she questioned the merit of Hector JR.

So, in a desperate attempt to save her precious toy, she had leapt out of the moving car. And now...she was walking along the endless highway, alone. It seemed like there would never be an end to all of this... "Ughhh...When I find Kel again, I'm gonna smack him!" She pouted angrily. "Geez, if Mari was around, that kind of stunt would have never been pulled-"

Mari.

Aubrey stopped, and blinked. She had heard a whisper tickle the back of her skull, almost like a name. She looked around, confused. She could have sworn she had heard a voice- a weird one at that.

She couldn't discern it. She was all alone on the Endless highway. ..The very dark, creepy Endless Highway. That was...odd. Where did all the light go?!

"H-Hello? Omori? Kel? Hero?"

Her voice was small, tiny, frightened, shivering, almost fragile; she felt..terrified for some reason.

She then heard it again- clearer this time. Sobbing; and it was...familiar.

Basil!

The whole reason they had set out on this adventure, and he was nearby!

"Basil, is that you?! Aubrey's coming, don't you worry!" She quickly hopped off the highway and headed into the brush, looking all around, her gaze setting on a cave where the noise seemed to be coming from. A shadow disappeared into it- and on the floor was a flower.

"That's from Basil's crown! That must be him! Basil, wait! It's me, Aubrey!" She clutched her toy tighter for courage, and ran after him, her bare feet sinking into the sand more and more.

Poor Aubrey. She should have noticed the black throbbing Veins creeping along the walls of the cave. She shouldn't have tried to follow.

As she dwelled deeper and deeper into the cave, the upbeat girl became more nervous, her breath shaking as tears poked along the corner of her eyes.

Aubrey is AFRAID. The atmosphere of the cave was...she couldn't describe it. Suffocating. Dark. it seemed to slope down forever and ever, and didn't stop. She felt like she had been walking for an hour now...when she came to an opening.

There was a single room, with stone spikes hanging from the ceiling. In the room were...pictures carved into the walls. Pictures of two people arguing atop stairs.

And in the middle of the floor was a huge hole. The shadowy Basil jumped into it, with Aubey following right behind.

"Basil- no!" She cried. But he was...gone. She couldn't even see his falling body. It was...inky black. Never ending.

...

Aubrey didn't like this place. It...was like an entrance to a terrible place. She felt a penetrating feeling of freezing cold temperatures hit her.

"..R-right...I'll head back up, and find the others. Tell them that Basil was-"

She turned around to leave the cave- and saw something utterly terrifying. Basil stood before her- different. He was older, and he wasn't as vibrant. A look of twisted strangled emotions writhed on his face, his clothing stained with blood. And emanating around him were tendrils of darkness, with two throbbing white eyes in the center along with sharp teeth.

Aubrey was Terrified.

With a scream, she stumbled backwards and fell, Mr. Plantegg plopping to the ground.

As Aubrey fell, the darkness whipping around her, the view of the pit above grew fainter, fainter, and fainter.

Then, darkness swallowed her, and her world viewed twisted, turned inside out, and lost its color.
