*Quick one-shot. Overpowered Harry raised by Voldemort. This story deviates from canon quite a lot. But I had fun with it. No plans to continue this storyline. Stay safe out there kids. SlytherinPrefect out.*
Hadrian James Potter, or Hadrian Titan Riddle, as he was known to everyone, was a confident, competent wizard. He was rarely nervous. After all, what was lying to the dark lord every day compared to this? But he was nervous nonetheless. He had simply been a passive resistance fighter against his adoptive father, but now things were changing and it was time to move.
He had left the Slytherin common room and went to his, thankfully, private room, set up by his godfather and head of house, Snape. One of the only people he truly trusted. He left at the exact same time that he did every night. He knew that his "friends" were ordered to report any suspicious activity to his father. He used the mirror and updated his check-in contact, Lucius Malfoy, about the days events, developed plans that he hoped would never come to pass and discussed the odds of winning the next Quidditch game. He told the man goodnight and turned off the mirror. He then stripped down to nothing, even taking off the emergency port key his father demanded he wear 24/7 and pulled a sealed bag out of his school bag.
He quickly cast charms to make sure he wasn't being watched, put up his usual wards around his room, scanned the bag for any charms and found a tracking charm placed by Dumbledore. He kept it on there because if this went wrong he wanted the man to know exactly where he was. He then opened the bag and put on the boxers, jeans, socks, shoes, t-shirt and hoodie that his secret best friend and now, current girlfriend, had ordered and dead dropped to him via the prefects bathroom and some cunning manipulation of a towel rack.
He grabbed his firebolt, carefully moving his father's tracking charm that was on the handle, to the nearby bed post, and opened his window. He cast a powerful disillusionment charm on himself and the broom and jumped into his new destiny.
The witches and wizards sitting around Dumbledore's office knew that something big was going on. They had received the summons to a staff meeting, but quickly realized that not all staff had been included. Severus, Filius, Minerva, Pomona, Black, Lupin and Poppy were present which wasn't unusual. But the addition of the head of the DMLE Amelia Bones, a Ravenclaw Prefect named Hermione Granger, Auror Kingsley and Auror Tonks was something odd.
"Our next guest is on his way, please do not attempt to hinder him, you are only here for the safety of my staff. Please treat this as top secret information. I have sealed this room. The portraits can't even hear or see us. What is about to happen is extremely critical to the fight against Voldemort." Dumbledore spoke with no air of the grandfatherly tone he normally had. It was enough to send everyone on high alert. The aurors disillusioned themselves and moved to separate corners of the room. Most of the staff were confused.
"You don't seem concerned Severus." Minerva voiced into the silence.
"I am not. Sixteen years of planning and spying has gone into this moment. I know exactly what is about to happen." Minerva opened her mouth to ask more but there was a quiet tapping sound on the window. Dumbledore camley waved his wand and opened it. Hadrian Riddle appearing before them in muggle clothing and performing a silent, wandless counter to the disillusionment left them all stunned. Hadrian looked around and his cold facade didn't reach his eyes. Before them was a teenage boy who feared for his life.
"Good evening Mr. Riddle." Dumbledore said politely, offering him a chair.
"Please Headmaster, my last name is Potter, not Riddle." That gave Minerva the most hope she had in a long time.
"Very well Mr. Potter, would you care for some refreshments?" Dumbledore asked as Hadrian sat down, looking windswept.
"Please, thank you Headmaster." An elf, who normally would never show visibly, appeared, and handed a cup of tea directly to the Slytherin Prefect and Quidditch Captain.
"Thank you very much." Hadrian spoke directly to the elf and smiled. The elf looked taken aback, as did almost everyone in the room. Where was the pureblood arrogance that this boy displayed on a normal basis. He took a sip while watching the others order their favorite drinks.
"So Mr. Potter, shall we get this meeting on the road? As they say. Why did you want to meet with us, and what does Ms. Granger have to do with all of this? As far as I know she hasn't spoken to you, outside of prefect duties at all, in all of your six years here." Harry Potter shared a knowing smile and a brief chuckle with Hermione that left everyone extremely confused. Save for Severus.
"Well when Voldemort kidnapped me from my relatives after murdering them too, I grew up in an old fashioned pureblood household straight out of a horror book. I wasn't mistreated, but I definitely picked up on the fact that I was just a tool. So I decided to be a good little pawn and learn everything I could and work behind the scenes. Severus is my godfather, named by Lily Potter as you all know, but Voldemort also named him my godfather after he forced me into a blood adoption." Several of them gasped.
"So the first opportunity I got to speak to the Goblins at Gringotts alone was a real eye opener. They told me the true story, as my father had kept it from me, told me of my wealth and Lordships and offered Severus and I, friend of the nation status, if we agreed to help them. That was ten years ago. Of course I was only six and Severus had to explain what that meant, but I accepted."
"Forgive me for interrupting, but what did they need help with Mr. Potter?" Filius asked. He knew that friend of the nation status was a massive deal. There hadn't been one since Godric Gryffindor.
"It was really simple. I would take down Voldemort when the time came, and I would help them live among us as equals." Dead silence followed this statement.
"Do you expect to achieve this goal?" Dumbledore asked, curious.
"Yes." The answer was quick and confident.
"How? You are just a child?" Poppy asked. Hadrian drew himself up.
"I may be under the age of adulthood, but do not mistake for one second that I cannot do this. I have been through hell, I've had to do a lot of growing up very quickly to survive. I know I can succeed because I have all of the components to do so at this very moment. I am simply here to tell you, officially, that I am on your side."
"Why should we believe this? You were literally raised by Voldemort. Nothing good can ever come of that." Black hissed.
Hadrian sipped the last of his tea, set the cup down and stood, he pulled out his wand, which saw a few of the professors tense up, and spoke an oath.
"I, Hadrian James Potter, also know as Hadrian Titan Riddle, do hearby swear on my magic and my life, that I have never nor will ever serve the dark lord known as Voldemort, also known as the half-blood Tom Marvolo Riddle. So I swear, so more it be." There was a bright flash followed by Hadrian casting a silent patrounus charm. A bright white otter flew around the room. It was almost brighter than Dumbledore's. They said that the brighter your patrounus the lighter the wizard you were. Those who were dark had gray almost black patronises.
"You can cast a soundless patronus spell." Lupin commented.
"I don't need a wand either sir. I'm just more accurate with it."
"Oh this I have to see." Black snorted.
"Now I don't really think…" Dumbledore started, but Hadrian was already setting his wand down. He took a few steps back and raised both of his hands, the three aurors in the room were suddenly visible with a flash of soft blue light. The three of them stood there in awe.
"Mr. Potter what spell was that?" Asked Filius.
"One that I created. It automatically negates glamour's, disillusionment's and disables portkeys in the room in which I cast the spell. It also gives me temporary mage sight, allowing me to see enchanted, or cursed items in the room."
"That's a very useful spell, you will have to teach it to me." Bones said warily.
"Sorry Madame Bones, unless you speak parseltongue, you can't learn it." Hadrian shrugged.
"Can we get on with this? Mr. Potter, you said that you were on our side and I respect what you've had to do all of these years, but you said you had all the components in place to destroy Voldemort." Pomona said, cutting through the murmuring in the room. Hadrian nodded before turning to Dumbledore.
"Headmaster, do you trust everyone in this room implicitly?" The question was sudden and serious. Dumbledore paused, knowing that Hadrian was going to reveal a lot of information that he had wanted to keep secret. But now was not the time for secrets.
"I do. But before you start, may I enquire as to why Ms. Granger is here. I understand that she helped you arrange this meeting, but I would like to know why her presence is still required."
"She already knows what I'm about to tell you."
"How? I know for a fact that you two haven't been seen talking to each other at all." Black challenged.
"Ah, that would be because the Maurarders map that you have is a charmed copy to show myself in a set place every single time of the day."
"How do you even know about the map, let alone how to charm it?" Lupin asked.
"I know a lot of things professor, and really, my father was prongs, do you expect me to have not read his journals about how the four of you made it?"
"How did you steal it from me?" Black hissed, angry.
"I didn't… steal it per-say, I borrowed it for my own uses. For the greater-good."
"Back to the point of Ms. Granger, we are running out of time." Snape snapped.
"Ms. Granger and I are bethrothed. And share a very rare soul-bond. We have been best friends since the troll incident in first year."
There were cries of shock around the room and Hermione moved over to sit next to Hadrian, and took his arm. Hadrian smiled at her happily.
"How have you hidden your soul bond and your bethrothal from your father?"
"Because I convinced my father that The House of Potter was too lowly for him to manage, as he handles all of his followers houses. So he appointed Professor Snape as my magical guardian. He gets all of my account statements and notices. We in turn use occlumency and defensive legilimency to show that I'm still an heir, not the Lord that I am."
"So how were you involved in the troll incident?"
"Let me speed this up. Headmaster, do you have a goblin made pensive around here?"
"Yes." Dumbledore waved at a cabinet and the disk came floating out. Hadrian pressed a few goblin runes on the pensive and it projected on the wall. Hadrian stuck his finger into the pensive and they watched what happened with the troll. From Ronald Weasley teasing her to Hadrian saving her by himself from the troll and vanishing before the teachers arrived to find a shaken Hermione.
"You lied to me that day!" McGonagall's surprised comment was directed at Hermione.
"I know Professor, but unfortunately… I also lied a lot more to all of you." She looked down, ashamed, but Hadrian nudged her and smiled. She cheered up a bit. The next scene was of Hadrian sneaking into the infirmary to see a petrified Hermione. He was sitting behind her bed screens, out of view. He looked so upset. He then found a piece of paper clutched in her hand. They were all able to read it.
Hadrian,
The monster in the chamber is a basilisk, we need to tell someone. Talked to moaning mrytle in the girls bathroom on the second floor, she was killed by the beast fifty years ago. Hagrid was framed by Riddle and got expelled. I think the entrance to the chamber is there too. Meet me in our spot after curfew tomorrow, we can decide if we can close it ourselves or go to the teachers.
They watched as Hadrian turned the note to ash with a nearby candle, touched Hermione's cheek in a tender moment and became invisible. They watched him head to the chamber to find a slowly dying Ginny Weasley. They watched Hadrian fight a 70 foot basilisk with some impressive dark and light magic and watched as he stabbed a black diary on the floor afterwards with the basilisk fang that he had gotten bitten with. He had collapsed after stabbing the book and they watched as Hadrian Riddle stopped breathing. They stood in silence for a few minutes before Hadrian gasped for breath and sat straight up.
He looked around and saw that Ginny was sitting up, looking at him in awe.
"Ms. Weasley, before I get you out of here. I need a magical oath from you not to tell anyone that I saved you."
"Why?" She asked, confused.
"Because I am not the bad guy and should the bad guys find out that I'm not with them I'll be dead and Voldemort will rule forever." Ginny quickly gave her oath.
"That's why she could never tell me who saved her." McGonagall shook her head in disbelief. They zoomed through a mostly quiet third year, though Hadrian took time to show them finding Ravenclaw's lost diadem with Hermione. He then showed himself giving it to the Goblins for cleansing. They had questions, but Hadrian asked them to wait. Fourth year was when Hadrian found out that the real mad eye was trapped in his chest and the impersonator was a death eater.
They watched as Hadrian incapacitated the imposter, stunned and pulled the real mad eye out of the trunk and sealed the lid. He left Moody on his bed and shrunk the trunk that held the imposter. They watched as he was taking a leisurely fly over the black lake and was too slow to catch the trunk falling from his pocket. Nobody commented that this was technically murder and that the best seeker in a century should've caught that. They knew the evil that was Barty Crouch Jr.
"That would explain why Alastor had no recollection of ever being at Hogwarts." Dumbledore murmured.
Fifth year saw Hadrian studying a lot more of darker magic, specifically rituals. Nobody said anything to this either. What they did watch was a summer spent parading around the countryside before ending with a gruesome scene in a cave beside the sea. Hadrian forced his house elf to feed him a potion that was in the basin. The house elf tried to stop his master from drinking the potion and offered himself instead but his master would hear none of it.
"I'm going to drink it, Dobby, because I know what it's going to do to me. I have no idea what it would do to you and I'm not putting you through that. This is to get rid of Voldemort. We must do this. I'm sorry my friend but you will have to make sure I drink enough to get the locker at the bottom." Dobby nodded solemnly.
They watched as Hadrian fought the pain through five drinks. But he couldn't take it any longer, he was screaming in pain. The real Hadrian silenced the viewing and fast forwarded until Dobby was able to grab the locket and he apparated both of them out of there.
They watched in horror as Hadrian discovered that the locket was a fake. Sirius had to stop himself from spluttering as they watched Dobby the house elf break into Grimmauld Place and steal the real locket from Regulus's bedroom.
The next scene was of Hadrian in a run down Manor house performing a ritual, one that was classified as dark. He summoned an object from under the floor boards and placed it into the ritual circle. He then cast out whatever dark magic was associated with it.
The last scene they showed was of Hadrian transforming into a very familiar cat, a cat almost all of them had seen with Hermione. They thought it was her pet. Hadrian the black cat with avada kedavra green eyes was sitting on a branch outside of what was Riddle Manor. All manner of death eaters were coming and going, not noticing the cat in the tree. Amelia, Tonks, and Shacklebolt began to take furious notes as to whom they could see. They watched a medium size boa constrictor come out of a window on the bottom floor, the cat perked up and zeroed in on it. The snake moved into the forest and Hadrian followed, keeping to the trees. The snake was hunting. Hadrian let it catch something and begin to eat it, knowing it wouldn't be able to move very fast. He transformed back, pulling a goblin made dagger from his cloak, he jumped down from the tree using wandless magic to slow his descent. The snake never saw it coming. He cut it's head clean off in a matter of seconds. They watched him work quickly and, grimacing, he tore the carcass into pieces using a combination of tearing spells and his feline teeth and claws.
They watched the scene where Hadrian was standing beside his father's throne in death eater regalia, sotic and cold as his father tortured, then murdered every werewolf under his command for killing his prescious snake. Hadrian had played it perfectly.
"You are the reason that the world is free from Greyback and his pack." Lupin was genuinely greatful. Hadrian just nodded and continued to the moment in his fifth year where Hermione, his girlfriend of a few months first kissed him. The scene showed the gold bond surrounding them both. Then it fast forwarded to sixth year where Hadrian proposed to a stunning looking Hermione in the middle of Paris.
"How did you leave school to go to Paris?" Flitwick asked.
"We didn't leave school. That was in the room of requirement." Hermione explained. They could see that both Harry and Hermione had dropped the glamour and both of the Potter family rings were visible. The next scene was one at Gringotts in a meeting with Snape, Hadrian, Ragnock the director, and Griphook, the Potter's account manager.
"Right so we are ready to go with the last horcrux, but we need you to own the vault first. So when you are ready to end this, send us a letter with Dobby. You have earned Riddles vaults by conquest, meaning that any vaults that he has control over goes to you as well and since he controls every single one of his followers vaults, you will be the richest wizard in the world. You will literally own the wizengamot with the seats you will claim." Griphook was explaining.
"We can definitely change the world for the better, standing beside you, the mermaids, the centaurs, and the elves." Hadrian nodded.
"How soon will you be able to destroy the horcrux when Hadrian takes the vaults?" Snape asked.
"The process and paperwork is done, only awaiting my signature on the papers. Since the horcrux is in the Lestrange vaults, I will sign that first. Then my team will enter the vault and destroy the Horcrux."
"When do you think this should happen?" Griphook asked Hadrian.
"Well before any of his new plans have time to get off the ground. I need to speak with Dumbledore, I'm sure Hermione can help me arrange it. I need to take the vaults immediately after that conversation, so expect it very late in the evening, possibly early morning. By dawn, Riddle will be dead. Then we can go about reshaping the wizarding world."
"Fudge will have to go, he has always been in Tom's pocket.." The memory stopped as Hadrian withdrew his finger from the pensive.
"Voldemort made five horcruxes?" Asked a pale Dumbledore.
"Seven actually, making eight soul fragments, including the one inhabiting his body currently, all together. The diary, the locket, the diadem, the ring, the cup, the snake, himself, and… me. When he tried to kill me the first time a blood ritual that my mother used protected me from it, rebounding and killing Voldemort in the process, but his shattered soul fragment attached to the only living thing in the room. Me."
"But then, my boy… you would need to die for him to be gone." Minerva whispered, though everyone heard it.
"Ah, but I did. Thanks to Riddle and his basilisk, when the poison killed me, it instead killed the horcrux inside my forehead, which is why my scar is barely visible anymore. I came back to life after having a wonderful chat with my parents." Lupin and Black broke down at that. Hadrian smiled softly and handed the two men small packages.
"My parents told me that this was in our vaults for you too. You were supposed to get them much earlier. I'm sorry." Hadrian murmured as each man took the packages he had unshrink from his pocket.
"My dear boy… you are an incredible young man… you would be doing the world a great service to rid us of Voldemort. I am in awe of you." Dumbledore said, tears in his eyes.
"Tonight, I will be sending the letter to Ragnock and he will take the vaults and final horcrux for cleansing."
"Can I ask you something?" Tonks spoke up rather suddenly.
"Sure." Hadrian shrugged.
"Why are you telling us this? Why didn't you just do it and be done with it?"
"The tricky part is not getting rid of Voldemort. The tricky part is what comes after. Out of the fifty seats on the wizengamot, I will hold 44 of them." There were gasps all around the room.
"I need people who know that I'm on their side, while working to implement positive changes in the wizarding world. If they only saw me as Voldemorts son, they would never work with me. Yes I will still have a majority, but it would be like me forcing everyone into whatever I wanted. They would label me a dark lord regardless. So I'm telling you and I will tell them, in a trial, my trial, before the wizengamot."
"Your trial?" Amelia asked.
"Why yes, of course. That's brilliant Hadrian. See Amelia, He controls 44 seats of 50, therefore, all 44 seats are excluded from vote, leaving the light and neutral families of the Bones, Weasleys, Longbottoms, Greengrass, Black's and my own seat to tell the story too. There will be press there and they will tell the world what happened. That way his story gets out and he is cleared of wrongdoing at the same time."
"To get a trial he has to do something wrong. While the rituals he performed in the pensive were dark, they can't be used as evidence as he didn't harm anybody with them." Tonks said.
"What about Crouch Juniors… uh.. accident?" Sprout asked.
"We'd have to have a body and Hadrians magical signature is gone by now…and even if he were to admit it, Junior was sentenced to Azkaban and technically already labeled as dead." Shacklebolt explained.
"Do you have the dark mark Hadrian?" Asked Dumbledore.
"No, but the rest of the Slytherins, save for Blaise, Daphne and Theo, do."
"That's another thing, what do we do with all of the death eaters?" Amelia asked.
"This will be something that has to come up in my trial, while I'm under veritiserum. You cannot take the dark mark while under the imperious curse. For the charm to work the recipient has to be willing." Hadrian explained. There were many glances in the room towards Snape, but nobody said anything.
Snape began rolling up his robes to show bare forearms.
"Hadrian really is a top of the line student, along with Ms. Granger. They found a way to remove my dark mark. As I willingly wanted it gone. That mistake of my life is over." Snape commented.
"So you're telling me that I need to round up enough aurors in the next few hours to hit death eater homes all over the country?" Amelia asked, looking like she could use a drink.
"You need the inner circle, their families, the silver circle but you don't need their families. You could go after the bronze circle, but they are the cannon fodder, just doing what they're told they are too stupid to think for themselves, no need to waste resources." Hadrian shrugged.
"I take it you know where I can find these people?"
"Yes, the gold circle, or the inner circle are all residing in Riddle Manor. I have the coordinates and can let you through the wards after Voldemort perishes. I can also change the wards so that it puts everyone inside asleep, including, house elves. Then let you through. The Silver circle stays at Malfoy Manor, being watched over by Narcissa and Draco Malfoy, both of whom are gold circle members. The other Slytherins and a few other sixth years who have taken the mark are in this circle. The bronze circle stays in their own homes. They aren't important enough to have access to anything. They only show up to where they are summoned when they are summoned."
"How would we get through the Malfoy wards without alerting anyone."
"Just a moment, Dobby!" Hadrian called. Dobby the house elf popped in. Hadrian handed him a letter and told him to give it to Ragnock.
"There that's done. I will now technically own Malfoy Manor, but should you want to get in quicker…" He pulled out a wardbreak stone from his pocket and placed it on Dumbledore's desk.
"That will get you through the Malfoy wards." Hadrian smirked.
"Director Bones, that is a wardbreak stone, a dark magical artifact and a crime. Permission to arrest Mr. Riddle." Tonks smiled at Amelia and Amelia shot a look at the grinning Hadrian."
"Yes, later. But what's the timeline on this?" Amelia asked Hadrian.
"The director is going to send me a letter when the cup is cleansed. This means that Voldemort will perish within minutes, hopefully without alerting anyone at Riddle Manor. Then I can make everyone sleep once I feel the wards shift to me. Then I can lead you there. After that you will have three days to hit the Malfoy manor. The next meeting was scheduled for this Wednesday. Nobody will realize anything is wrong. Though, should you arrest me, you should do it when you come to Hogwarts to collect the student death eaters, because before then will tip them off that something is wrong."
"Isn't there a Quidditch game tomorrow Hadrian?" Hermione asked suddenly.
"Yes, why?"
"What if you got hurt at the Quidditch game, severe enough that Madame Pomfrey kept you, not allowing visitors. Then you could go have your trial, then pave the way for all of the death eater trials as well. Because you would've already given proof that they were indeed death eaters. That way they would all have to be tried under veritiserum regardless of blood status and could automatically be kissed. And because you would be cleared by then, you would sit at a majority vote regardless. You could have them kissed immediately."
"Surely there is no need to have them all kissed…" Dumbledore asked appalled.
"No, not all of them Headmaster, but a lot of them have done some heinous things…" Hadrian shivered involuntarily.
"We will hear it all in the trial-" Bones was cut off from speaking as Dobby popped back in with the note.
"Thank you Dobby. Can you head home and spy on Riddle, tell us when he perishes." Hadrian asked. The elf nodded and popped off.
"Alright so just so we are clear. Tonight we can round up all of those at the Riddle Manor, holding them secure until the trials begin, Hadrian gets injured tomorrow at Quidditch, We sneak him away from the infirmary for his trial, after which we need to hit the other house in rapid succession." Tonks verified.
"Yes, and you will need to do it without alerting anyone that you don't trust. Madame Bones you have spies in your ranks. A lot of them. Dawlish and Scrimgeour, Mack and Hull, Quincy and Benovary. Are just a few." Hadrian added.
"That's… half of a shift… what am I supposed to do with only half a shift of aurors?"
"If I may Amelia. The Order has over forty trustworthy members, surely we can lend a hand." Dumbledore said.
"I would have to deputize all of them and get oaths of loyalty from them." Amelia said thoughtfully. Dobby popped back in.
"Master Hadrian your not-father has perished and Dobby be sure that nobody could hear him call for help."
"Thank you so much Dobby. You've been a fantastic friend. Please take some time to relax. I'm going to be indisposed for a few days."
"Actually Master Hadrian, sir, I can help with the Quidditch accident tomorrow too, that way it is genuine and nobody can blame anybody. If yous be trusting me sir." Dobby said.
"Sure, just don't do anything to make it so I can't speak. I trust you." Hadrian nodded. He knew Dobby wouldn't hurt him enough to kill him. But it was probably going to hurt a lot. It had to be real anyway.
Hadrian closed his eyes and tensed as he felt the wards pass over to him. He immediately put everyone in the manor to sleep including the house elves.
"Everyone's asleep Madame Bones. You are free to move on the manor."
"Dumbledore can you get your order here soon?"
"Yes… I can…" Hadrian wasn't listening to anything else, he had hit his limit. He was stressed out and exhausted. He sat back in his chair and closed his eyes, his hand holding Hermione's.
He woke up the next morning in his bed, dawn was just beginning to break. He sat up, confused. A note fell off his chest.
Good morning Mr. Potter. I had Dobby move you, you looked too tired to wake up. He also took us to Riddle Manor. I wanted you to know that Amelia has all of the DE from RM secured in a safe place that's not the ministry. Now we just need you to do your best at the Quidditch match. I also wanted to be the first to tell you that both you, Ms. Granger and Severus are receiving Orders of Merlin, first class and Hogwarts awards for special services to the school. Enjoy your day. Good luck in your match against Gryffindor.
AD
Hadrian smiled then burned the letter in his fireplace. He got dressed, ignoring the hollow feeling in his stomach. He should be happy. The dark lord was dead. His followers would be kissed or in Azkaban and he could literally shape the world. But in the back of his mind he felt incredibly lonely. This was all he ever knew and it was gone. Everything in his life seemed to leave him one way or another.
Hadrian quickly shut down that train of thought as he dressed in his immaculate Quidditch robes of silver and emerald. He pinned the captains badge to his chest and made his way to breakfast. He told the team to be ready and in the locker rooms in half an hour. He ate nothing. Which was unusual, but his friends didn't comment. Hadrian rose before everyone else and left the loud and crowded Great Hall. He strolled down to the Quidditch pitch alone and deep in thought. He wasn't paying attention and bumped straight into someone knocking them over.
He looked down to a small blonde Ravenclaw fifth year. He vaguely remebered her as Luna Lovegood. Hadrian saw no one around so he helped Ms. Lovegood to her feet.
"I apologise Ms. Lovegood, I should've been paying attention." Hadrian apologized in his formal pureblood tone.
"You don't have to pretend with me, Hadrian. I know what you've done today. You are a good man." Luna smiled at him. Hadrian spluttered, thinking his plan was ruined if she told.
"Don't worry, I won't tell anyone. I've know for awhile. I'm a seer. A very good one. Also, don't duck today. It'll be worse if you do." Luna moved away then and Hadrian stood rooted to the spot.
He finally snapped out of it when people started coming out of the castle. He hurried into the changing rooms.
The match was going well. Slytherin was up by thirty on Gryffindor. Their keeper Ron Weasley was a good keeper but a great captain and strategist. Hadrian was up in the air circiling, looking for the snitch. He didn't really have to captain his team. He trained them to think for themselves and use their own discretion. If what they chose was wrong, they'd talk about it later. They worked in near silent efficiency, in complete contrast to the constantly shouting Gryffindor team.
Hadrian spotted the snitch near the Gryffindor goal posts and dove. His Firebolt Elite was insanely fast. He knew it was coming when he heard the whistling of both bludgers. He looked to his left to see one speeding at him insanely fast, faster than it should've. On his right was the same thing, although this one was heading straight for his head.
Don't duck it'll be worse for you.
So Hadrian put on a burst of speed, caught the snitch and didn't duck. Which was lucky because Dobby seemed to realize that the bludger was going for Hadrians head, he lowered it to impact his shoulder. Had Hadrian ducked, it would've slammed into his head. The one on the left hit his left leg, shattering it, and the one on the right slammed into his right shoulder, also shattering it.
The effect was instant, he was pushed off his broom to the left, slamming into the Gryffindor goal posts. When he hit the ground he wondered at how he was still conscious. He was in incredible pain and had whacked his head pretty good on the posts. So good, that his head was bleeding.
He also thought he had a severe concussion because when he felt someone land beside him he could've sworn it was Ron Weasley. The red head was kneeling next to him, white as a ghost, asking if he was okay.
"Good game Weasley, great blocking." Was all Hadrian said before he blacked out.
He woke up in the infirmary a few hours later. It was just past lunch and the infirmary was deserted save for the three people sitting beside his bed. One was his fiance, who was reading a book as usual. The other two confused him greatly. One was Ronald Weasley who seemed to be working on his charms homework, he was in his regular school robes, wearing his prefect and Quidditch captains badge. The other was Neville Longbottom. An extremely quiet herbology prodigy and Hufflepuff Prefect. He was reading over some official looking head of house financial reports.
Hadrian went to ask them what the hell was going on, but all that came out was a croak. Everyone looked up and saw his bewildered looks.
"Can you get him some water please Ron?" Hermione asked. Ron stood and poured Hadrian a glass of water, and handed it to him. Hadrian nodded his thanks and took a sip.
"Right, that's better, what the hell is going on?" Hadrian asked, though his voice was still hoarse.
"Well I wanted to thank you for saving my sister in the chamber. And now with everything going on, it was finally safe to approach you." Ron explained.
"How do you know about the chamber?" Hadrian asked.
"Oh well… uh I followed you into it… you didn't see me because… well i'm not sure why you didn't see me honestly. You were so preoccupied with getting there that you didn't even notice when I tripped over the rocks behind you. Anyway I watched you battle that snake and saw you ask Ginny not to tell that it was you who saved her. I watched you leave and I got Ginny to the infirmary and told Dumbledore and my family everything that had happened."
"Why were you following me in the first place?" Hadrian asked. Realizing that Dumbledore had known that Hadrian was a good guy for a long time now.
"Oh… well, since you were Voldemort's kid I figured you were the heir of Slytherin… sorry about that. I was hoping that you would get expelled when I told them that you were the one setting the monster loose. But you weren't."
"Oh. And you Mr. Longbottom? Or is it Lord?"
"It's Lord, but you can call me Neville, Lord Potter."
"Hadrian, please then. Why are you here?" Hadrian asked.
"Ron and I were deputized last night as part of the Order, along with Hermione. We are technically your Auror guards until you were conscious."
"Ah, that makes sense." Hadrian nodded. He shut his eyes against a wave of nauseating pain. His arm was in a sling bound tightly to his chest and his leg was in traction. Waiting for the skelegrow to finish its job.
"Man Dobby did a good job." Hadrian said through his teeth.
"I had to order him not to punish himself again. He is so distraught. He thought you were going to attempt to dodge one of them." Hermione explained.
"No, I met a wonderful Ravenclaw seer who told me not to duck as it would've only been worse."
"Luna." The three of them said in almost perfect unison. Hadrian barked a laugh. Apparently they all knew her. Madame Pomfrey came around the curtain and looked him over, gave him a pain potion and said he was stable enough for transport to the ministry.
"Hadrian we have a portkey that takes us directly into the wizengamot chambers. The others are already at the ministry, once they arrive, we can get the meeting going and get you back here." Neville said standing. Hermione went around the curtain to wait while Ron and Neville helped him into his dress robes that had the Potter crests on them. He almost passed out again with the pain of moving his shoulder and leg. He was supported by a very muscular Neville and Ron as they helped him around the curtain. They wanted to move him quickly as Hadrian was getting paler by the second.
The port keyed into the sealed wizengamot chambers to find everyone already there. Hadrian was now being fully supported by both boys, with Hermione looking on with worry all over her face. They managed to get Hadrian into the accused chair, the chains came up around Hadrian's free arm and cinched them to the chair. Hadrian, after fighting the urge to vomit, had managed to look around the chamber. He was surprised to see Daphne in her father's seat. Neville took his own seat while Ron and Hermione stood to the back of the room, in the customary Auror location.
Dumbledore banged the gavel on the desk in front of him.
"Lord's and Ladies of the Wizengamot. We are called in an emergency meeting to a trial of Lord Hadrian James Potter, also known as Lord Hadrian Titan Riddle. His list of the houses and lordship titles he has claim over are now in front of you. As such all of the 44 Lordships he has claim over are hearby excluded from voting due to conflicting interests. I turn this trial over to Madame Bones." Madame Bones stood and explained the entire thing thing to the assembled group. It took roughly an hour before Bones even spoke to him.
"Lord Potter, you are accused of possessing an illegal dark artifact, punishment for having such an item is, at max, a one year stint in medium security of Azkaban. How do you plea to this charge?" Bones asked.
"Guilty, Madame Bones." Hadrian rasped.
"Do you need some water Lord Potter? Or perhaps a proper up potion?" Sirius asked him.
"Either would be suitable Lord Black, thank you." Hadrian nodded his head in thanks as the court healer came forward and handed Harry a pepper up potion. He drank it happily, feeling much better than before.
"Also in these circumstances, you are also accused of death eater activity, due to the conflicting witness reports we have about you. How do you plead to this charge?" Madame Bones asked.
"Not guilty Madame."
"Lord Potter, due to the nature of this entire investigation, it required by law that you willingly submit to veritiserum. Will you comply with this?"
"Yes." Hadrian stuck out his tongue and allowed the healers to administer the potion. After a few minutes Hadrian felt the effects take over.
"Please tell us what your name is."
"Hadrian James Potter."
"How old are you?"
"Sixteen."
"Have you ever taken part in death eater activity?"
"No. I've planned operations with Riddle, but I always made sure they didn't come to fruition. I would sabotage them."
"Why?"
"Because the plans were evil, he couldn't do that. Not while I'm still breathing."
"Tell us about the prophecy." So Hadrian told them. It took another two hours for Hadrian to get through the trial.
"Lord's and Ladies of the Wizengamot, we will now convene to discuss sentences. Deputized Aurors, please see to it that Lord Potter gets some food and drink." Dumbledore cast a silencing charm around the assembled wizengamot members. Hadrian had seen the flashes from photographers periodically throughout the trial. He was exhausted and in a lot of pain. Unfortunately because of the combination of veriteserum and pepper up potion, he wasn't allowed to take any more pain medication until tomorrow.
Hermione and Ron sat with him while they helped him eat a sandwich. Hermione actually had to cut it up and feed him bits because the chair hadn't released him. But he didn't care. Hadrian was close to passing out again.
The wizengamot came back a few moments later.
"In the case of Lord Hadrian James Potter, we at the wizengamot find that he is guilty on the account of having an illegal dark artifact, however due to the fact that he submitted this artifact to the authorities and has been completely honest about it, we levy a fine of a hundred galleons to be paid to the ministry. We also find Lord Hadrian James Potter to be cleared of the charge of death eater activity and to be awarded the Order of Merlin, first class for his actions and bravery in riding the world of Lord Voldemort and the capture of his death eaters. We award him the prize money that each known death eater had on their head. Thank you Lord Potter, you are truly a magnificent human being." Dumbledore banged his gavel and the camera flashes went beserk. The chair let him go immediately.
Ron and Hermione were at his side immediately. The other members were on the floor as well, talking with each other. Madame Bones and Dumbledore approached.
"Lord Potter, the trials will start the day after school ends. You will be required to be present at them. We have your testimony and pensive accounts. They are already a done deal. When it comes time, your specific house of Potter, as well as the death eater house will be excused from voting, but your other ones will be able to vote." Bones explained. Hadrian nodded but felt like the world was spinning. Ron actually had to brace himself to keep Hadrian upright.
"We need to get him back Headmaster." Neville said coming up and grabbing onto Hadrian as well.
"Right, get him back to the infirmary, he took quite a beating today. You'll get a letter informing you of the trials Lord Potter. Expect them to last several days."
They port keyed back to the infirmary where Pomfrey was waiting for them all with dinner. Hadrian ate what he could then promptly passed out again. The others left the infirmary to meet with the aurors downstairs to arrest the student death eaters.
Hadrian was finally released a day before the exams. He had kept up with all of his homework and still managed to get all O's. By now, everyone knew what had happened and walking the corridors he was slapped on the back and applauded by everyone. It was a lot for the boy who grew up in isolation to handle. Meeting with Hermione in the open was such a wonderful thing. They didn't have to hide their betrothal anymore.
Exams came and went. Before Hadrian knew, he was sitting in a rather comfortable seat on the Wizengamot bench in purple robes listening to the last trial. It was of Millicent Bulstrode. Out of the 300 or so death eaters who came through, Hadrian knew that she was truly forced into her situation. Most of the students had been given lighter sentences in Azkaban, save for the Malfoys who all admitted to heinous crimes and were all kissed.
Millicent explained the abuse she went through, what her father did to her to force her into being a death eater. She said it under veritiserum and when they reconvened for sentencing Hadrian had an idea.
"I don't really think she deserves to be punished." Neville said. The others agreed.
"I can get rid of her dark mark for her. Nobody knows that she has one. They barely know who she is at school. She can live a normal and happy life now. I can even give her her family vaults back too." Hadrian offered.
"I thought you had to be willing to get the mark?" Daphne asked.
"You do. But hers was a forced willing. She was only doing it to save the horror of what her family did to her. The magic accepted that as willing."
"I agree. What about her seat on the wizengamot Hadrian, you currently own it."
"Let's give it to her. I mean really, what's one person against my 43 houses that I'll have?"
So it was. A sobbing and greatful Milicient was lead out of the courtroom. The last of the death eaters to be tried. Hadrian looked over his list. 304 accused and tried. 287 kissed. Six given sentances, one cleared of charges. Hadrian sighed and left the chamber a few hours later after pitching his new bills to the others. The Alliance was a reworking of the Wizengamot. It would hold only ten witches and wizards, all of mixed blood and class. All of whom had to be elected by votes from the public. Ten goblins, appointed within the goblin nation, ten mermaids appointed within their own colonies, using a special type of aquarium and translator spells, ten house elves appointed by the elvish council, and ten centaurs appointed by their pack leaders. They would work together and rebuild the ministry. It would be a lot of work, but well worth it. They would come back in a months time to discuss it and vote.
Hadrian left for home. Home was a modest house in Tampa, Florida. Hadrian loved the sunshine and the gulf of Mexico. Hermione was spending the summer holidays with him and Severus was there as well, getting some sunshine. Hadrian had invited the Weasleys, the Lovegoods, the Longbottoms, and the Greengrass' to spend some of their holiday with them as well. All of them had happily accepted. It was going to be a good summer. To be totally carefree and with friends.
The Hogwarts Express was rumbling towards Hogwarts a few short months later. In a large compartment, very tanned friends sat around and played games, eating snacks and enjoying their time together. Ron, Hermione, Luna, Neville, Daphne, Milicient, Blaise and Theo all laughed happily about the summer and the changes in the ministry. The Alliance had passed and the public elected who was on the witches and wizards board. Hadrian, Arthur Weasley, Neville, Dumbledore, Black were elected as well as Amelia, Daphne, Hermione, Minerva, and a ministry worker Penelope Clearwater.
Hadrian and Hermione had to leave the compartment, as well as most of their friends as they had a prefects meeting to run as head boy and girl.
The last year of Hogwarts flew by for Hadrian. He started receiving offers of employment and paid apprenticeships from every country he could think of. He talked a lot with Hermione and they decided that they would stay in Britian. To continue changes to the wizarding world here. Hadrian decided to take his potions, transfiguration, herbology, DADA, charms, and runes masteries. Already knowing he would receive his NEWTs in all of them. He enjoyed Arithmancy, muggle studies, care of magical creatures, and astronomy, but he knew having those masteries didn't really matter for his career plans, he would get the NEWTs but that was it.
It was the last day of school, graduation was tonight. Hadrian was getting dressed in his Graduation robes. They showed his prefect, Quidditch Captain, special services and order of Merlin as cords that he wore around his neck. His robes were the silver of Slytherin. Everyone's graduation robes were their houses secondary colors. He was the valedictorian, beating Hermione by a half a point. She got over it. Eventually. There was a knock on his door and he opened it to find an anxious looking Hermione.
"What's wrong love?" Hadrian asked. Inviting her inside. She was wearing her bronze Ravenclaw robes.
"I uh… I have some news and I don't know if you are going to like it…" She murmured quietly looking at the floor. Hadrian had never seen her this way.
"You can tell me anything 'Minoe. What's wrong." Hadrian's heart sank. He hoped that she wasn't about to leave him. Not on graduation day.
She mumbled something so softly that he didn't catch it.
"What?" He asked. Hermione took a deep breath and squared her shoulders. This was her bossy-determined face.
"I'm pregnant Hadrian James Potter, you are going to be a father."
Hadrian had to sit down. Him a father? He didn't know if he could do it. He had never really had a father. What do father's do?
"I know that you didn't want children but-"
"I did, actually. I do. I wanted a rather large family. Weasley large." Hadrian interuppted her.
"I hate to break it to you mister but you might get two or three outta me, nothing more." Hermione sniffed. She looked on the verge of tears. Hadrian pulled her into his arms, the happiest man in the castle.
Eli Daniel Potter was born into a very different world from his parents. Goblins, centaurs, mermaids and elves attended Hogwarts and the government was a fair body that treated all equally regardless of wealth or blood status.
He would grow up watching professional football and watch his father play professional Quidditch for the English National Team. When his father retired from Quidditch and became a potions teacher at Hogwarts after his Uncle Severus took on the deputy Headmaster post, Eli couldn't wait to go. It was only after his mother announced that she was giving up her career as an unspeakable to teach transfiguration that Eli knew he would never get away with anything again.
When Eli was five his younger sister Ashton was born. He liked her, but she cried alot. When he was seven his parents introduced him to a kid named Alex, who mom and dad said would be staying with them. Alex and Eli didn't get along at first, being the same age, but when they both went to Hogwarts you could barely tell that they weren't biological brothers.
All in all, the world was a much safer and better place, all thanks to Hadrian Potter's decision to switch sides.
