Chapter One- The Attack That Changed Everything
Harry had a secret that no one else knew about, not even Ron and Hermione. No one knew that once everyone was fast asleep Harry would take his invisibility cloak and make his way down to the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom where he and Professor Lupin would have tea and Lupin would spend a few hours telling him stories about his parents' time at Hogwarts. Harry was extremely grateful for this, it was something that he couldn't get anywhere else and he was feeling closer to his parents then he ever had before. What Harry didn't expect was for his life to change in one of those simple nights, a night where he should have stayed in bed.
It started like any other night, Harry waited for all of his dorm mates to fall asleep and once Ron started his ceaseless snoring, that was his cue to leave. He pulled his trunk out from under his bed, grabbed his father's invisibility cloak and off he went. It almost felt like a Christmas morning, another story of his parents' adventures at Hogwarts that would bring him one step closer to knowing his Mum and Dad.
Once his cloak was draped over him, Harry slipped his shoes on and started to make his way down knowing that a warm cup of tea would be waiting for him.
Once Harry entered the classroom, he immediately felt uneasy. The room was empty with an unnatural silence, the cups that held the tea shattered on the floor.
"Professor?" Harry called out as he made his way up to the desk and picked up one of the larger pieces of ceramic, feeling an uneasiness set into the pit of his stomach. He was about to turn around and leave when he heard it, a low growl that sent chills down his spine. Harry could feel his hands give off a small tremor as he slowly turned around to come face to face with a monster.
The wolf was massive, it towered over him, stretching over nine feet tall with drool dripping from its razor sharp teeth. Harry knew he should run, that he should scream, shout and cry for help. But no matter how much he told his legs to move they wouldn't, he was frozen in place.
The wolf lifted its nose and sniffed the air, his eyes slowly landing on Harry. For a moment, nobody moved, the air was still and Harry held his breath, feeling as though one exhale would trigger the creature to attack.
Suddenly Harry dropped that piece of ceramic and made a move for his wand.
The wolf lunged at Harry, claws extended. They were long and slightly curved. Harry tried to fall back in an effort to dodge the attack, but the wolf was faster. It slammed Harry through the desk, shattering it. Harry felt something stab through his shoulder as he went down to the floor, elbows and knees scraping against the cold, hardwood floors, leaving streaks of blood across the surface. Harry put a hand to his shoulder, feeling a large splinter of wood sticking right through. His heart was beating rapidly as Harry fumbled for his wand but he was too slow. The wolf dug its nails into his upper thigh and dragged them down until they hooked onto his ankle, causing Harry to scream out in pain, immediately as he felt the pain like a rod of fire burning up his leg. It felt like a lot more damage happened than what should have been from a simply slightly curved claw. It was then that Harry understood something. Each claw had tiny ridges around its outer edge, like a kris blade; built for torture to split the target wide open! Harry could feel a warm liquid soaking through the torn material. He didn't need to look to know a lot of blood was flowing out.
The scent of the fresh red fluid only excited the wolf more as it dragged him closer, slashing his chest with his other claw, his nails going through Harry's skin like a hot knife through butter. Harry watched in horror as his wand was tossed across the room by the wolf's paw.
Harry kicked his legs as hard as he could, satisfied when he heard a crack as he made contact with the wolf's nose. The wolf yelped and released his leg, giving Harry the opportunity to make a move for his wand. Ignoring the pain, Harry flipped onto his hands and knees but before he could make another move he felt sharp nails dig into his back, slowly ripping his skin apart as the wolf pulled him down.
Harry tried reaching out for his wand, his finger tips only inches away when the wolf bent down and wrapped its jaw around the side of his stomach and bit down. He could feel his ribs breaking as the large fangs of the wolf sunk in. Harry cried out in agony as he felt the teeth sink into him, feeling the wolf pull and shake him like a helpless prey animal. He felt the warmth of his own life force bleeding out through the multiple wounds. He was dropped onto the floor in a red slick pool as the wolf circled for another attack before flipping Harry over as if dipping the boy in his own blood.
The world was starting to become fuzzy. Harry tried to reach for his wand again, only to find that it seemed to be further away this time. He was running out of options and worse, he was running out of time. Harry felt the wolf come forward towards him again. He focused hard and rolled himself sideways over a pile of shattered tea cups. Ignoring the sting of it, he landed hard on the wooden spear still sticking through him, forcing it out. He knew it was dangerous, he knew he could bleed out even faster but he was about to die anyway.
The broken wood slipped out and Harry grabbed it and brought it up just in time as the wolf closed in. Using the last bit of strength he had let him twist himself around and jabbed the wood into the creature's eye, causing the wolf to let go as it cried out in pain. The wolf pulled back, one eye socket was now nothing more than a dark hole with a piece of wood sticking out of it.
Harry pulled himself forward, hoping he could get to his wand in time before the wolf could recover but sadly he was mistaken as his head was slammed into the floor by the creature paw. Harry cried out as the claws slowly slid down his face, soon finding it hard to breath. Harry could feel the creature's jaw wrap around his throat, ready to chopped down. Harry closed his eyes, getting ready to die when suddenly a blast blew the door off and the wolf went flying backwards into a wall. Harry watched as the wolf slumped forward, not making a move to get up to make another attack. Turning his head to the side, Harry watched as a dark figure made its way towards him and bent down.
