Hello hello hello, PokeDopes here! So I won't dawdle on stuff and get straight to the point. This is a brand new story I've been investing lots of time into lately as I've had a resurgence of Undertale interest and now have a working keyboard. This story will technically be a 2 in 1 story, with 2 stories inside of one big story. I highly recommend reading every chapter from start to finish as quite a bit happens and skipping chapters can cause confusion. By the way, if my pen-name seems familiar, than you might've read one of my Pokemon stories, and if not, that's okay too. I hope you enjoy this Undertale AU story.

Magnificent Plan

The Beginning

Long ago, two races ruled the Earth: Humans and Monsters. One day, war broke out between the two races. After a long, bloody, and deadly battle, the humans were victorious. With their defeat, the monsters were sealed underground with a magic spell created by the 7 great wizards of humanity, never to be seen ever again. Many years later, an 8 year old human girl by the name of Chara climbed the mountain known as Mount Ebott. They survived their fall and were found by Asriel, the son of King Asgore and Queen Toriel Dreemurr. He helped them back to his home where the king and queen took Chara in as one of their own, treating her kindly and showing lots of love towards her. Chara and Asriel originally became best friends, and over time, they were like siblings to each other. With the king and queen taking care of Chara, the entire underground found hope within them. Perhaps, with her power, she could free all of monsterkind and with Asriel's help, the two planned to gather six human souls to break the barrier and free everyone from the Underground. Their plan involved Chara consuming a poisonous flower known as "Buttercups" in order to allow Asriel to take her soul and cross the barrier. From there, Asriel was supposed to take the lives of 6 humans so he could get their souls and use his and their power to destroy the barrier. Unfortunately, Asriel couldn't follow through with the plan as he was wracked with too much grief and didn't want to see anyone else die. He took Chara's soul and carried her body through the barrier to give her a proper burial, only to be brutally attacked by humans from a nearby village the moment he got close. They thought he had killed her since he was carrying her body and this prompted them to attack. Asriel, with Chara's soul, had the power to destroy every single one of them and yet he refused, taking blow after blow with a smile on his face. He made his way back to the underground with Chara's body and collapsed when he reached the garden outside of their home. That day, the king and queen lost two children in one night, and the entire Underground lost much hope in the process. Ever since then, any human that fell into the Underground was captured and subsequently killed for their soul. Asgore managed to obtain 6 human souls after 10 long years and needs only one more to free everyone from the eternal nightmare forever...

Near the middle-end of the 10th year, another human fell into the underground by the name of "Frisk". Frisk climbed the mountain after having heard the legends about those climbing it never coming back. What they discovered upon falling down was the rich and vast world of the Underground, the eternal prison that all of monsterkind was banished to after their defeat at the hands of the humans many years ago. Their journey through the Underground was a difficult one, everywhere they went and looked, someone was trying to hurt, kill, or capture them, and despite the odds, Frisk managed to not only make friends with them, they also managed to brighten the darkness of the Underground. Everywhere they stepped, a bright light shone and illuminated the darkest corridors of the Ruins, the blackest parts of Waterfall, the frightening night of Snowdin forest, and everywhere else. It didn't matter what they faced or who stood in their way, they rose up to the challenge with a wide, pleasant smile on their face. Frisk brought hope to those who had lost it, they brought joy and happiness to those who were sad and hurt, but most importantly, they promised to their friends that they'd find a way to free everyone no matter what it took. Unfortunately, they were not fated to liberate the Underground. During their battle against King Asgore Dreemurr, Frisk's morals and belief that nobody needed to fight led to their downfall. Despite trying their hardest to persuade Asgore, their words and kindness weren't enough to shake the king's stoic heart in favor of letting them go. His trident in hand, he painfully struck the innocent child down, tears dampening the ground around him as Frisk took their final breath and collapsed in front of him. Wracked by the grief from killing such a pure and kind human, he couldn't bring it upon himself to encapsulate their soul and free everyone, letting it shatter and break in front of his very eyes. It wasn't long before friends of Frisk travelled up to the capital of the Underground to find out the fate of their kind, only to learn that the promises they were given had been broken and news of Frisk's death swamped the Underground with mixed emotions and sadness. Some monsters even felt betrayed over their death, going as far as to not trust any human who may fall down again or even kill them in cold blood without giving them a chance.

6 years later… The Underground has drastically changed. Many monsters have become hostile and dangerous to everyone around them, including themselves at times. Most monsters don't have a reason to trust humans and even blame Frisk's death for the unfavorable changes that have occurred. Some monsters are outright hoping another human falls just so they can have the glory of killing them and saving monsterkind, while others have completely given up on any chance to escape. However, not all hope is lost… some monsters still believe they can break the barrier and escape the Underground, some believe another human will fall and somehow persuade Asgore to work together with them to break the barrier, and one monster believes that with her research and experimentation, they can break the barrier without having to wait. No matter what they wait or hope for, another human is destined to fall. At this very moment in time, a boy with pale skin, dark brown hair, closed green eyes, and a backpack filled with chocolate and a cell phone has decided to climb the mountain after hearing rumors from other people about how any human that climbs it ends up being lost forever. Chocolate bar in hand, he aimlessly wanders around the mountain near the summit, taking in the near still silence around him save for the gentle sound of the calm wind blowing around him and his own breathing. His lack of awareness slowly coaxes him towards a large cave opening, looking around and taking in the scenery around him. His carelessness brings him into a rock sticking up from the ground, his right foot snagging it and throwing his balance for a loop. His whole body follows his initial momentum and he barrels forwards into a large hole where he takes a long fall into the waiting hands of the monster ridden Underground below. The fall this boy takes is a hefty one yet his body survives as he slams onto a bed of golden buttercups below, breaking his fall and stopping him from an untimely death. The fall was great enough to knock him unconscious though, and the soft breaths he takes faintly echo as he lies on his stomach with his backpack and chocolates scattered around him, sleeping softly in the dark void of his mind.

That's the end of the first chapter. I'm sorry it's a bit short, but I promise the next chapter will be significantly longer than this. I hope you enjoyed and I'll seeya in the next chapter!
