Yay 9 days of Lancaster has officially begun that's pog looking forward to reading the Fics that get produced this week +plus the extra two days. But anyway, here is my first submission titled promise hope everyone enjoys. Oh, and I'm doing something new where I try to give my chapters song themes this Fics theme is Time bomb by Faber Drive it's the song that stuck with me for this fic for some reason.
Oh, and I want to point out that this fic will be more similar to my A knights Rose fic where the chapters aren't really in an order since it's snippets of their lives together.
Jaune sat still unable to focus on the words Ruby said to him in excitement as she looked out into the sky, he was sure that Ruby would notice how sweaty his hands were getting but she seemed to either ignore it or not care as she beamed at him in joy feeling the floor, they were on continuing to move their vantage point getting higher and higher as Jaune felt his stomach in knots.
"Jaune, Jaune" her voice calls to him making him realise he zoned out, shaking his head to clear his thoughts he looked to Ruby noticing that she was closer to him then she was before which surprised him sat in their cramped cars, they were already sitting side by side which made him blink at their closeness. "Are you okay?" she asked him leaning closer to him as she looked him in the eyes.
Meeting her gaze back he smiled looking deep into her silver eyes making him quickly calm down as his antsy mind was soothed by her presence. "Why would I not be, okay? I have everything I would ever want." he told her quickly wrapping his arms around her as he his discomfort was chased away.
Blushing from his compliment Ruby hugged him back hoping to hide her flushed face against his chest "I love you too," she mumbled to him as he did his best to fight past his motion sickness not wanting to ruin the moment as the airship screeched to a stop making Ruby gasp pulling back away from him in surprise. "Do you know what's happening?" she asked him nervously looking down as she glanced to the other cable cars full of people in concern.
"Hey I'm sure everything is fine it's just technical issues." he tells her gulping as he sought to calm his nerves feeling his chest tighten in worry while Ruby said nothing in return. Jaune then closed his eyes hoping to put himself in the zone oblivious to Ruby's erratic pacing in the cramped car. "So, we've been together for a while now." he points out rubbing his sweaty palms against his trousers slowly reaching to his right trouser pocket Ruby still facing the glass keeping an eye on her surroundings for any danger.
"Yeah, and it's great but I don't think right now is a good time to be discussing this though" Ruby told him quickly cursing the fact that she hadn't brought Crescent rose with her the fear this causes could summon Grimm.
"Yeah, it might be a little early but being a huntsman has really showed me how short life could be" Jaune told her running his hands through his hair awkwardly as he smiled goofily at her "so I want to tell you this now" he told her getting down onto one knee.
Ruby sighed rubbing her forehead "there's no need to be dramatic you won't die here" she tells him as she turned around before freezing in shock when she saw him her hands going to her mouth a silent gasp leaving her.
"Well, I didn't think I would be dying here but I still wanted to do this now," Jaune told her with a nervous chuckle scratching the back of his head as he opened up the box revealing a silver and ruby ring. "We may have only been together for a couple years now but I love you, and you're the one I want to wake up next to every day." he told her without pause looking up to her as he saw her lip tremble and eyes begin to water.
"Jaune" she mumbled in shocked awe her brain beginning to grasp what was happening, as she looked to him and the ring seeing stars.
"If you would let me, I promise to always love you no matter what happens, in sickness and in health I'll stand by you every step of th-" he continued but was unable to finish his speech getting barrelled over by a flurry of petals knocking him to the floor as his lips were quickly claimed by hers.
After a moment that felt far too short to them the two broke up their kiss, all their passion and love were conveyed in the motion until Ruby had pulled away beaming widely at him. "Yes, I'd love to marry you!" she told him feeling ecstatic as they sat on the floor. The two of them ignoring their tears of joy.
After a couple minutes of them sitting there together the car began to move again making Ruby pause in surprise and so Jaune chuckled looking to her "I kind of got the others to stop the Ferris wheel to give me this opportunity to propose" he told her hugging her waist as they sat on the floor waiting for the Ferris wheel to touch the ground.
"You know you didn't need to make it so planned out I would have said yes to you even if you were proposing at our place with an onion ring" she told him resting her head against his chest as she smiled fondly,
"I wanted to make it special" Jaune told her smiling leaning down to kiss her once again while the doors opened. the two of them then got up slowly hand in hand as they got off the ride more than ready to spend the rest of their live together.
