Guardian of Remnant
Invasion. That is the only way to describe what is happening now. At least to the people native of Remnant. To me, this is just a small battle. A battle between two forces. The Forces of Darkness and The Forces of Light. The Forces of Light trying to protect Beacon Academy. Unaware that they are just pawns to their headmaster. The Forces of Darkness attacking to get rid of the only person that can stand in their way and topple the symbol of peace and protection. Both sides unaware of the true intentions of their so call leaders. Yet their leaders, despite what they proclaim, knew very little of the true origin and power of the relics and powers they seek to obtain for themselves or protect.
I am Jaune. No last name. I have been around for centuries. I am also the guardian of Remnant. But no one knows that and I prefer to keep it that way. Currently, I am a "student" at Beacon Academy. If you were to ask any one there about me, they would all say basically the same thing. That I am a weak fool who does not like fighting. And part of that is true. That I do not like fighting. Seems counterintuitive if you really think about it. But there is a reason for it. And that reason is, that it will bring nothing but chaos and death. For the fighting I know of, is that of great warriors that fight with unbelievable powers that fight to the death. And no one in Remnant is ready to deal with that. Besides, after centuries of nothing but fighting to the death, you do get tired of it.
That is why I am just observing the invasion. I could intervene but that would just make my job harder. Besides, my job is to defend Remnant. And the best way to do that is by making sure no one gets the powers of the maidens or artifacts. If they all wipe themselves out, then it would just make my job a whole lot easier. Sounds harsh but it is the truth.
Looking down on the field, I spotted Yang and Blake both getting their asses handed to them by Adam Tarus. Yang always talked a big game but anyone with a shred of calmness and discipline could beat her. Blake is letting her emotions get to her. Which is essentially a death sentence if you do that in a fight. I could easily tell what was troubling her. She is easily torn between fighting/protecting Yang and hooking back with Adam as anyone can easily tell they used to be lovers. Shaking my head, I turned away and continued to looked over the invasion. I soon spotted Nora and Ren trying to clear some Grimm away from some of the injured students while also clearing a path towards the bullheads. Yet they were failing as despite their efforts, they just made themselves bigger targets and attracting more threats to them. They also constantly leave their sides exposed so anyone can easily sneak up on them. Looking a bit away from them, I saw Ruby and Weiss fighting their way to somewhere. Looking closely, I could see they were close to being defeated. Which did not surprise me in the least. Ruby is always so naïve and still thinks that every bad person can be changed into a good person. She lacks any real fighting experience and relays too much on her weapon. Weiss is a very weak fighter. Despite what she claims, if you really into her fighting stats, she has never won a single fight by herself. And her fighting style can easily be broken by anyone just rushing her. As most of her attacks require some amount of focus and time to execute and can be easily interrupted.
Looking to see where they were running off to, I saw that it was to get to another nearby fight. It was between Pyrrha and Cinder. And seeing how they were, Cinder clearly won the fight as Pyrrha was on the floor. Her shield and weapon broken. Her "aura" was nearly gone and she lost the will to fight on. Clear as day that she gave up. Honestly, any experienced fighter could have seen that coming. She lost because she was always taught to fight with honor. And to always expect the same from her opponent. That is a fatal flaw. In kombat, always expect your opponent to fight dirty and do whatever they can to win the fight. And you must do the same as well. For if you don't, you might as well kill yourself. Save your opponent the trouble. Sighing, I looked away from the fight. Out of all that I have seen, this fight did pain a bit. Mainly because she is the first person, I have seen in such a long time that is so pure and cares for others. That and she was the only person I have ever met to make me feel something warm inside me.
Sighing, I looked away and got up. No point in staying here any longer. There was no doubt that Beacon has already lost. Many students have already died, only a few actual huntsmen left and they were all getting tired and worn out. And the Atlas soldiers there were disorganized and seemed more lost than anything. As for the Forces of Darkness, they still seemed like they have a lot of fight left in them. And the numbers as well as you could see them almost overtaking the whole place. Looking back towards the fighting one last time, I raised my hand to the sky to teleport away to another location. But I stopped myself before I did. There was a sudden change in the air. It felt stiff and heavy. What really stood out was the third feeling I got from it. It felt murderous. As if it loved to kill. Almost for the sheer pleasure of killing. I was about to ignore it when a stench hit my nose. It was sudden and faint. So faint that I doubt even a faunus could sense it. But above all else, familiar. It took me a moment to place it, but I quickly remembered where I smelled that stench before. It was the stench of acid, filth and blood. And only one creature I know of fits that description.
"Reptile." I growled out. Looking back out onto the battlefield, I spotted a blur moving about. I felt my anger reach a boiling point. Breathing in, I let electricity engulf and I rose off the ground and flew into the air. After a moment, I shot like a bullet right next to where Cinder and Pyrrha were. My sudden entrance caused many to stop fighting. They all looked at me in shock at what just happened.
"J-jaune!" Pyrrha exclaimed weakly while coughing up some blood. "W-what are you-"
"REPTILE! SHOW YOURSELF!" I demanded in a thunderous boom. Everyone around seemed confused as to what I just said. Some even started laughing a bit.
"J-jaune? W-what are you-" Pyrrha asked but I cut her off as I sensed another presence. A cannibalistic one.
"MILEENA! I KNOW YOUR HERE AS WELL! SHOW YOURSELF AS WELL!" I demanded again.
"P-please Jaune-" She started but I cut her once again and I sensed yet another presence. This time and extremely dark one. At this point nearly everyone started laughing. Even Cinder was smirking at me. But I paid no attention to them as there was even more important things I had to focus on. And even if there wasn't, I still wouldn't pay any attention as they are not worth my time.
"Jaune!" Pyrrha, this time begging, continued. With more blood being coughed out. "Please go before you get killed" I ignored her and listened to my surroundings for when the attack I knew was coming would happen.
"Why don't you listen to your girlfriend kid? Before I-" Cinder started only to be silenced when I immediately leaned to the left and caught what appeared to be a tongue that shot out from behind me.
"THERE YOU ARE!" I growled and pulled the tongue and its owner towards me. Everyone was confused as to what it was but grew more confused and equally shocked when the owner appeared from thin air and get hit with my elbow. Before he could recover, I tightened my grip on his tongue and tossed him over my shoulder where he landed hard.
"WHY ARE YOU HERE REPTILE?!" Idemanded. Instead of answering, he simply hissed as he got up. I was about to demand again when I felt that cannibalistic presence again. Dodging to the side, I avoided the sneak attack Mileena tried on me. As she landed and turned to face me, I shot a fireball at her which sent her flying to the floor with burns covering her body. There were many gasps from everyone around us at seeing what I just did. And more came when they saw Mileena get up like it didn't faze her at all.
"So, the coward finally came out to play with us." Mileena taunted while taking out her sais.
"FINAL TIME! WHAT ARE YOU ALL DOING HERE!" I demanded. My patience gone at this point. I was about to launch an attack at them when I felt darkness come from above. I immediately created ice slide away from where I was standing as a black cloaked figure came out of a dark portal. The figure stood up and took out a sickle from his chest and pointed it at me.
"To reap the souls of this world and give them to Shao Kahn so he can invade this place and claim it for his empire." The figure said in a deathly cold voice.
"YOU WILL LEAVE EMPTY HANDED. NOW GO BEFORE I KILL YOU!" I threatened them. At this, most of the students started laughing again but were silenced when I created a kori blade out of ice from thin air.
"Oh goody. A play date. I shall relish gnawing on your bones." Mileena declared which sent a shiver down many people spines.
"YOU SHALL NOT HAVE THE CHANCE!" I threatened while point my kori blade at them.
We entered a tense standoff right after. Each of us had their weapons pointed at each other. Daring the other to make a move. But a moment in was when I noticed Reptile was not with them. He was gone. More like hidden and waiting for the moment to strike. Focusing on the others, I out on the facade that my attention was only on them and did not know that Reptile slipped away. I slowly started to move to the side in a circle with Noob Saibot and Mileena mirroring my movements. Mileena made the first move and charged at me. I stood still and waited for her to reach me. I could hear some shout for me to move but I didn't. It may seem like she was going to tackle me but I knew her style and what she was actually going to do. Once she was a few feet from me, she jumped and disappeared into a purple mist. I could feel the confusion coming from the others from what they just saw and began to look around for where she went. Knowing what was going to happen, I created an ice clone and slid to the side just in time for Mileena to hit the clone and freeze in place. I immediately swung my kori blade her, breaking her from the ice prison and causing three wounds on her.
Turning around, I quickly created a sun disc and threw it at the shadow clone Noob Saibot threw at me destroying it. He then threw another at me before jumping up through a portal disappearing. I dodged it and parried his attack once he appeared behind me and tried to strike me with his sickle. He landed on his feet and charged at me again with Mileena coming at me from behind. I waited until they were close enough before surrounding my body with electricity. Shocking the both of them and sending them back a bit. I was about to follow up when the familiar stench of Reptile assaulted my nose. And it told me what he was about to do. He was about to spit acid at me. Quickly raising my hand, I summoned a pillar of sunlight where I thought he was. Luckily, I did manage to hit him. The intense pain from the sunbeam causing him to lose focus and become visible again. Not giving him a chance to recover, I quickly flame ported over to him and pulled out two hook swords and sliced him in the chest about ten times with each hook sword before kicking him away.
Taking a few steps back, I readied myself for their next attack. Reptile was still down while Mileena and Noob Saibot were standing and ready to continue. Mileena rolled up into a ball and rolled at high speeds towards me while Noob Saibot sent another shadow clone at me before teleporting away. Thinking quickly, I froze the area in front of me which made Mileena lose her balance and miss her attack. Not wasting a moment, I lit myself a blaze which caught Noob Saibot off guard and set him on fire as well which allowed me to finish him. Setting myself a blaze again, I flew towards him at incredible speeds pushing him a good ten feet away. He was dazed from the a allowing me to continue. I delivered a jab to his face followed by a punch to the stomach before delivering a palm to his face breaking it. Not letting up, I kicked him in the stomach and delivered two more punches to his face before striking him in the neck. I then finished it up by kicking him in the face and delivered three punches to his back with the third punch sending him flying into the ground a good distance away.
With him done, I turned to face the last one. Only to get stabbed in the arm by her sai followed by a kick to the face. Shaking off the attack, I parried her attack and countered with a palm strike to her chest sending her stumbling back a bit while trying to catch her breath as I knocked it out of her. She snarled and charged at me with a strike to my head. I ducked under her swing and jump over the sweeping kick she tried to follow up with. As soon as I landed, she lunged at me again. Only to by stopped and stunned when I summoned three animal spirits to roar out loud. With her stunned, I conjured a bow and three arrows out of spirit energy. I shot the arrows with them hitting her in the stomach, chest and neck. I then rushed her and swung a tomahawk made out of spirit energy and slammed it into her shoulder. Taking a step back I raised my hand and summoned lightning to strike the tomahawk and her. She twitched and yelled in pain as I electrocuted her. And even after I finished, her body still twitched for a few more moments. Afterwards, she seemed barely conscious but was still able to get up. Noob Saibot appeared by her side and summoned a clone to help her stand.
"NOW RETURN TO YOUR PATHETIC EMPORER AND TELL HIM THAT AS LONG AS I AM THE GURADIAN OF REMNANT, MORTAL KOMBAT SHALL NEVER SET FOOT HERE!" I told them.
"This isn't over!" Mileena growled. This caused my blood to boil and lightning to surround my body. But instead of the normal blue hue, it was now blood red. Even the crackle started to become louder and more constant. Hearing a sound come from my side, I engulfed my hand in fire and punched to my right. Striking right through the chest of an invisible Reptile who tried to sneak up on me. In my hand was his heart. He started coughing up blood and tried to turn invisible again but could only flicker. But the flickering soon stopped and his body went limp. I removed my hand from and let his body fall to the floor. Raising my hand, I showed all that in my hand was the heart of Reptile right before I crushed it.
"RETURN NOW OR SUFFER A FATE WORSE THAN DEATH!" I threatened one last time. Raising my hand, I summoned a portal behind them to use to leave this place.
"You fool! The mighty Shao Kahn will-" Mileena started but I cut her off.
"ENOUGH!" I shouted before thrusting my hand out and striking them with lightning and forcing them through the portal. With it closing a moment later.
Taking a few deep breaths, I calmed myself down and could feel the electricity begin to die down and turn back to its normal blue hue. Calm now, I looked over Reptile's dad body and sighed as I now had to get rid of it. Which is kind of pointless as he will be sent to the NetherRealm and eventually be resurrected again to serve Shao Kahn if he is not corrupted in the process by Quan Chi or Shang Tsung. Looking up, I suddenly remembered that there was an invasion going on. Taking a quick glance around, I noticed that everyone had either a shocked or fearful expression on their face. Some had even fainted from the fighting, blood or the fact that I had just ripped out Reptile's heart. Sighing, I knew what I had to do. Taking a deep breath, I addressed everyone here.
"YOU HAVE ALL SEEN MY POWERS AND WHAT I CAN DO. BUT I WILL WARN YOU, WHAT YOU HAVE SEEN IS BUT A FRACTION OF WHAT I CAN DO AND THE PAIN I CAN UNLEASH ON SOMEONE. NOW, THOSE WHO INVADE THIS PLACE FOR THE RELIC AND POWERS YOU SEEK TO OBTAIN, ABANDON IT! THE POWERS AND RELICS YOU SEEK ARE NOT WHAT YOU THINK THEY ARE. HEED MY WARNING OR SUFFER A FATE WORSE THAN DEATH!" I warned everyone. And to make sure they understand, I raised my hand and summoned lightning from the heavens to strike down nearly every grimm and white fang were struck down and killed. Even the ones that were in Vale or in a bullhead in the sky were also struck. Taking a look around one more time, I saw that there was only a small handful left. And all of them were scared shitless. From the corner of my eye, I saw that Adam's face was a mix between pure anger and immense fear. Even Cinder's face was full of fear.
Satisfied with the fear they now have, I turned to look at Pyrrha and saw that she was on the verge of death because of her wounds. Summoning some lighting, I shot it at her and instead of having it hurt her, I had it heal her back to full health. Sighing, I looked back to Reptile's body and raised my hand and teleported away from the place and taking Reptiles body with me as well. As I left, I could only hope that they heed my warning otherwise they will bring about a fate worse than death. And I will not protect them from that fate.
After all I am the Guardian of Remnant.
Not the Guardian of the People of Remnant.
And if protecting Remnant means killing off the people, then so be it.
