Sora's eyes fluttered open as he looked up from where he was on the ground, all he could see was the night sky shining down on him.

He stood himself up quickly and looked around, coming to the realization that he was in a night time version of the Final World.

He looked at his hands and then around to see if there was any sign of anyone there. "HELLO! IS ANYONE THERE?!" he called out, hoping to get a response. What he heard next caught him off guard.

"Hello?" another voice responded, sounding confused as Sora followed it to its source, coming to a halt when he saw who it was.

It was an older man, with a head of white hair, wearing a dark green suit, with a green ascot wrapped around his neck. He carried a strange walking stick with him that he was leaning on.

"You're… Ozpin?" Sora asked him.

"You know my name?" Ozpin seemed surprised. "I… Can't fully recall events. My most recent memory was facing off against a powerful enemy and then finding myself in this strange world." he looked around at where they were. "Do you happen to know where we are?"

"I couldn't quite say." Sora admitted with his arms crossed. "I'm Sora by the way!" the boy held his hand forward in a friendly gesture before the ground they were standing on changed suddenly to his station of awakening.

"W-WHOA!" Sora was surprised to see that platform appear here of all places. "L-Look. I have a message that I need to tell you to give to someone-"

The world around them suddenly changed to the pathway in front of a castle that Ozpin seemed to recognize. "This place…" Ozpin's eyes widened with surprise as he then turned his attention to Sora. "I see… So you're my next one." he then switched stances with his cane and pointed it at Sora.

"W-Whoa, hey! We don't have to fight!" Sora waved his hands in front of him.

"I'm afraid we do." Ozpin shook his head. "I have no idea why they decided to do things this way, but. If it's to ensure my next one is strong enough, then so be it." A green aura flashed over him briefly as his stance held firm. "I don't have to hold back in the slightest in this world…"

Sora grit his teeth angrily before summoning his Kingdom Key.

Ozpin vanished from Sora's sight in a green bubble, much to the younger man's surprise before Ozpin appeared right above him and attempted to slam the bottom of Long Memory down onto him, the boy barely dodged out of the way in time.

Sora pointed his keyblade towards the man. "FIRE!" he shouted as a blast of firaga launched towards him, only to be swatted to the side as Ozpin charged forward again, this time enhanced with some sort of boost in speed as he jabbed at Sora dozens of times with his cane. Sora took a few hits before blocking the last couple that sent him flying backwards.

A green orb formed in Ozpin's hand that he struck with Long Memory, hitting it in Sora's direction. The boy barely blocked it and raised his keyblade above his head. "THUNDER!" Sora shouted as bolts of lightning began to rain down onto Ozpin, striking him briefly and giving Sora the opening he needed.

Sora briefly glowed a bright blue before he lunged straight for Ozpin, hooking his keyblade onto the man's torso and tossing him across the path they stood on.

Ozpin quickly caught himself and jumped into the air, vanishing again as Sora landed on the ground, looking around for any signs of his opponent.

The sounds of gears behind him alerted his attention to Ozpin as a pair of large green gears floated above him that were soon tossed in Sora's direction, Sora jumped over the first one, but the second one struck him directly in the face, sending him spiraling backwards onto the ground where he stabbed his keyblade

Long Memory's trigger was pressed which caused the rest of it to start glowing a bright yellow while he ran towards Sora. Sora raised his keyblade to block, but it was knocked out of his hand.

The boy found himself jabbed directly in the gut with Long Memory, sending him back to the ground as Ozpin jumped into the air and attempted to bring the cane down on him, only for Sora to summon his keyblade back into his hand and block in time, both combatants being launched backwards.

Ozpin pointed Long Memory forward while Sora gripped his Kingdom Key tighter and let out a scream as a burst of light exploded over him, his clothing changing to resemble his attire from his second adventure now.

More smaller gears were launched in Sora's direction that he deflected, or blocked with a clear hexagonal barrier that appeared around him. It exploded causing the gears to launch back in Ozpin's direction, knocking him into the air.

Sora smirked at his chance and focuses his sight on Ozpin before leaping into the air and firing off a blast of Ragnarok at him. Ozpin took each hit directly but managed to catch himself on the ground before pointing Long Memory forward and pressing it's trigger again, the energy around it was starting to build up again. "I'm afraid this is where our fight ends." Ozpin stated.

Doppelgangers of him began attacking Sora, each attack, attempting to knock him closer to the beam's range before it built up to its peak and fired out.

Ozpin heaved as he set his cane on the ground. "So, he wasn't worthy then…" he remarked before he felt a sharp pain on his back as Sora struck him with a swipe of Zantetsuken and he fell to one knee.

"I guess I spoke too soon." the older man chuckled as Sora made his keyblade vanish.

"Hey, wait, what was all that for?" Sora asked in confusion as Ozpin was starting to fade.

"You'll know soon… Sora, was it?" Ozpin smiled before vanishing completely.

Sora felt a sharp pain in his head before falling backwards.

Upon waking up, Sora found himself in a forest clearing, confused and not sure of where he was, he decided he'd approach the strange mountainous city that was visible from the distance, the name Mistral came to his mind for some reason. Did he know this place? Well, there was no way to go but forward from this point...

Commentary: Well here's a fun little thing I decided to write. It's kind of an idea I've had since I started reading TPoynt's Aqua's Mission Fic. I've seen a few of these KH/RWBY crossover stories around, and none of them as far as I'm aware have ever centered around Sora as the character showing up, and I mean I get it, Sora might seem like the most overdone character ever. Which is why I thought with this, I'd mix things up a little.

I'm probably not gonna really continue this idea as this is pretty much just a proof of concept thing for a story like this, but the idea is that instead of Quadratum, Sora ends up on Remnant, with all references to Quadratum being changed to Remnant. You're probably wondering who the Nameless Star is if it's not someone related to Yozora? I mean there's a pretty obvious guess for who it could be given the other hints I've put through this story about when in RWBY's timeline this takes place.

Which, yeah my big idea is that Sora replaces Oscar as Ozpin's newest incarnation, which in hindsight is kinda funny given how Sora's used to having other people tagging along with him at this point. Will Sora find his way home? How will he contend with the likes of Salem's forces? Will he get along with RWBY and co? Find out... If I ever decide to actually turn this one-off story into a full fic.

I admittedly might have taken a few liberties with what abilities I gave to Second Form, and given my favorite spell in the series to it as well.

On an unrelated note, there WAS another story I was working on from a Writing Prompt Wednesday Draft on the RWBY subreddit, but that quickly spiraled into something that I didn't want to continue as things kept becoming too convenient for the protagonists and I just generally wasn't liking the flow of that story, so I kind of dropped it to completely focus on Volume 8, which is going along really well! This story was just a sort of "I want to get this idea I've had for a few months off my chest" kind of story.

If you like it, let me know and maybe I'll try to think up more one-off stories or even one-off chapters related to this idea as I do admittedly feel like a full fic with this idea would drag out for me a little too much, especially if I just wanna get to the good bits.

If you're wondering why I went with Vestige for the title of this chapter, well that's just another way of saying "Remnant".
