The past century has been most certainly the most eventful and influential in the history of the galaxy. The galactic civilization has endured the war with the sentient machine race known as the Reapers, and has ended what seems like an endless cycle of systematic genocide. The galactic community has ushered into a new future, apparently free from an extinction threat.

This victory would not have been possible without the involvement of the newest member of the galactic community – the Human race. The youngest council members have proven their ingenuity and grit in various situations and have become an integral part of the galaxy's political, economic, and military affairs within a short span of time. Especially, during the rebuilding period, the Systems Alliance is turning out to be more and more influential, expanding its control all across the galaxy.

Though the Salarian Union maintains a diplomatically friendly relation with the SA, it would be prudent to note that the expansionist policies of the humans and their remarkable military might prove a challenge to the rest of the Council races.

This dissertation has a comparable timeline in accordance with the CE calendar, highlighting important events in human history. It has also compiled a basic idea of the SA's government and military, along with strategic points of interest.

Timeline

1961: Humanity steps into space; Yuri Gagarin becomes the first human in space.

1969: Humanity lands on Luna.

1998: First human space station is constructed.

2001: Terrorists attack the United States; GWoT begins.

2014: First use of combat-ready laser weapons, ISIS declared the second caliphate.

2019: ISIS is destroyed.

2025: First use of combat-ready railguns.
2030: Iran becomes a democratic nation; the African Cooperation Treaty is established.
2031: First man on Mars.
2036: NASA establishes an outpost on Luna; proprietary technology on space elevators (maglev tram system to low orbit) is demonstrated.
2041: The remnants of ISIS form the Hand of Allah terrorist group; the HoA executes a coup in Saudi Arabia, taking over the country, and declares the third caliphate, HoA suicide bombers attack Barcelona, Tel Aviv, and Navi Mumbai using radiological 'dirty bombs'; the International Antiterrorism Coalition is formed; the entire House of Saud is executed.
2042: HoA invade UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Yemen, and Oman while Sudan, Syria, Palestine, Pakistan, and Egypt ally with HoA; Uyghur cells of HoA detonate a nuclear device in Guangzhou, China joins the IAC; Russia does the same after a similar attack is performed on Makhachkala; Pakistani cells of HoA decapitate the government and take control of the nuclear arsenal; Nigerian and Ethiopian forces invade Egypt and Sudan with US and Chinese support.
2043: Several Indian cities are nuked by HoA; Indian forces retaliate by nuking almost the entirety of Pakistan; Israeli, Iranian and Jordanian forces sweep through HoA territories in the Middle East; Iranian and Indian forces invade HoA-controlled Afghanistan with American support.
2044: The HoA leadership are captured and executed; the third caliphate ends, India forms the South Asian Federation by forcefully annexing Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka; Maldives, Nepal and Bhutan join voluntarily; Jordan, Iran and Israel divide up the middle east; the Hashemite kingdom of Arabia and the Persian Caliphate are formed; end of the GWoT.
2050: European Union becomes a pan-continent state.
2052: The South-west African Coalition becomes a supranational federation.
2057: Turkish government tries to acquire territories from Arabia; a democratic coup backed by Israel and the USA takes place in Turkey; Turkey falls into a civil war.
2058: The Neo-Soviet government of Russia captures almost all of Central Asia and establishes the Eurasian Federation; several Eastern European countries (outside of EU) join the EF; the ISS is scuttled; MIT scientists discover proprietary technology for He-3 power cells and rudimentary FTL travel.
2065: First space elevator in Guam; Cord-Hislop develops first He-3 powered vehicle series; antimatter drive is discovered.2067: Severe riots begin in China; the Indochinese nations band together in the Far Eastern Coalition; North Korea is absorbed by the South; the hundred-and-twenty year Korean conflict ends; Brazil annexes Argentina, Peru and Uruguay; Colombia annexes Ecuador, Suriname and Bolivia; both expansionist armies clash over Venezuela; South American War begins.
2068: Brazil annexes the entirety of South America and President Ardiente declares himself Emperor, establishing the Imperator de Novo Brasil.
2069: Armstrong Outpost in Luna becomes the first permanent colony of humanity.
2070: The European Space Agency establishes Lowell outpost on Eos Chasma in Mars; the Chinese Communist Party falls; second Chinese civil war begins.
2074: As Brazilian forces try to conquer Panama and French Guiana, US and EU declare war on Brazil; the South American War ends; Brazil is divided up into smaller territories; South American Coalition is established, led by Gran Colombia and Grande Argentina.
2078: The archeological find of all time happens on Eos Chasma in Mars, a EU prospecting team finds the ruins of an ancient alien outpost, NASA ensures that the Roswell UFO found in the USA about 130 years ago was from the same outpost; the area is instantly locked down from public and a top-secret research lab starts reverse-engineering the technology found in the ruins.
2080: Taiwan, Eurasia, and European Union invade mainland China; Eurasia claims Sakhalin, Spratly Islands, Inner Mongolia, and Turkestan; EU reclaims Hong Kong and Macau; the Kuomintang establishes the Chinese People's Federation; EU and EF become the most powerful economies and militaries in the world surpassing China and USA.
2083: NATO is dissolved.
2086: The pro-democratic forces defeat the neo-ottomans in the Turkish civil war; Eurasian republics of Armenia and Cyprus claim territories from Turkey; Turkey refuses; EF invades and annexes Turkey; Egypt and Sudan is absorbed by the African Coalition.
2090: Canada, Mexico, and the United States merge into the United North American states; violent protests erupt against the union; many white-supremacist rebel groups form in the Southern USA and the Midwest.
2092: The European Space Agency establishes an outpost on Ceres asteroid and starts mining the asteroid belt for rare-earth minerals.
2094: Australia merges with New Zealand, Micronesia, Polynesia, and other smaller states to establish the Oceania Confederate.
2096: The secessionist group, Freedom's First destroys Statue of Liberty; another group named Sons of the Patriots bomb the Pentagon; UNAS military reacts with surgical strikes and precision bombings on known secessionist holdouts; many police, paramilitary, and national guard units mutiny against this decision; the second American Civil War begins.
2098: End of the second American Civil War; Japan develops the first Arashikage-class proto-dreadnought technology demonstrator.
2115: The Eurasian Space Agency becomes the first nation to mine Jupiter's moons.
2120: NASA starts Robo-mining Saturn and Uranus for He-3; Eurasia establishes a colony on Jupiter's moon, Europa.
2128: The first extrasolar war begins when Jovian colonists stage a rebellion against Moscow; similar revolts begin on Ceres and Titan; national space forces prove inadequate to maintain superiority over solar space.
2130: Gagarin Station is established past Pluto's orbit; NASA astronauts discover the Charon mass relay; the entire construction flotilla is blown away past Ganymede by rebels; UNAS, CPF, EU, and EF forces join together to defeat the rebels.
2132: Joint forces of Earth retake Europa and Ceres, end of the extrasolar war; the proto-charter for Systems Alliance is written in a top-secret meeting of world leaders.
2140: Lowell City reaches a million inhabitants.

2141-2197: Humanity wanders the galaxy unaware of other sapient life.

2142: Humanity journeys beyond the Solar System for the first time, an expedition led by trillionaire Victor Manswell departs Sol to establish a colony on Alpha Centauri. Travelling just under FTL speeds, they would reach the binary star system in 2192.
2143: The second interstellar expedition begins; Delta Pavonis Institute sends a voyage beyond the Local Cluster for the first time.
2145: A multinational expedition departs for Arcturus Stream; in order to expand humanity's reach among the stars.
2148: The Mars Outpost and the existence of mass relays is formally disclosed to humanity; massive upsets occur in human society; many religions and groups declare the outpost to be a sham and a conspiracy; a newly formed economic coalition declares a plan to activate the Charon relay.
2149: The Systems Alliance Charter is drafted; 18 nations sign the charter primarily; an Alliance team led by Rear Admiral Jon Grissom goes through the Charon relay and reaches Arcturus; Arcturus is selected to be the capital of the Alliance.
2151: The construction of Arcturus station begins.
2155: The construction of Arcturus is complete; Terra Nova becomes the first Alliance world.
2157: Elysium is settled by humanity.
2176: A human exploration fleet encounters batarian forces; the fleet is destroyed before they can send out a message or initiate first contact.
2198: First contact with turians; the turian 32nd Patrol fleet catches humans trying to open a dormant mass relay; the turians capture the fleet and force them to lead towards Shanxi, a human colony; turians siege Shanxi; General Allen Williams of the Alliance Army surrenders after fierce resistance for two weeks; the Second Fleet arrives to relive Shanxi; the Second Fleet routes the 32nd Patrol Fleet; turians begin war preparations; the first contact war (otherwise known as the Relay 314 conflict) begins; the Hierarchy navy defeats the Alliance navy in a continuous campaign from Shanxi-Theta to Sol itself; humanity faces annihilation; the battle of Sol ensues; Alliance forces put up a valiant last stand but are outmatched; the asari sixth fleet arrives at Sol and initiates a ceasefire; first contact war ends.
2199: Humanity is welcomed into the Citadel community; the Security Committee of Arcturus Parliament created a secret black ops group named 'Task Force Cerberus'.
2200: The Systems Alliance charter is amended to heavily militarize its forces; the Alliance Marine Corps is created; humanity begins rapidly colonizing the Skyllian Verge.
2206: Task Force Cerberus deploys a stealth fleet of suicide corvettes loaded with nuclear weapons; these corvettes positioned themselves deep inside turian space in the event of a second war; the construction of Minutemen Station begins.
2211: The batarian hegemony objects to human colonization of the Verge; denied of their request to have the Verge declared as a region of 'batarian interest', the hegemony officially leaves the Citadel; the batarian emperor orders its military to 'annihilate the human scum'.
2215: To repel batarian attacks, the Corsair program was created; human privateers with Alliance marine support began defending the colonies where the navy couldn't reach.
2218: After learning about the salarian STG and the asari Nightwind, the Alliance decided to greatly expand the powers of Task Force Cerberus.
2220: The Rape of Mindoir occurs; batarian slavers attack and enslave millions of colonists before being driven out by Alliance Army; a joint force of Cerberus and MARSOC raid the slavers' bases and rescue a portion of the kidnapped colonists; Cerberus, Corsairs and the MARSOC attack several batarian worlds with nuclear weapons in retaliation; the Skyllian campaigns begin.
2226: The batarian hegemony mounts an assault on the human world of Elysium; in the following 'Skyllian Blitz', Alliance forces destroy more than half of the enemy fleet and evicts the batarians from the system.
2228: The Anhur Rebellions occur; batarian Na'hesit slavers attack Anhur and raze New Thebes to the ground; colonial militias and human mercenaries drive the batarians off; the Alliance decides to take the fight to another level; the Massacre of Torfan takes place; Alliance forces decimate a slaver stronghold and destroy the batarians' ability to stage offensives in the Verge; the human-batarian conflict ends.
2230: The Alliance discovers Cerberus' atrocities in the Teltin facility on Pragia; Cerberus initiates the Teltin Purge, destroying any evidence of experimental research on banned topics; the AIS initiates a campaign against Cerberus; Cerberus goes rogue with most of its assets.
2233: Humanity gains its first Spectre; said Spectre plays a large role in the Saren-Benezia incident; human fleets assist the Citadel fleets in fighting Sovereign; several human worlds are ravaged in the geth war.
2235: The Collector War begins; Collectors from beyond the Omega-4 relay invade and kidnap millions of human colonists; Cdr. Shepard and a group of mercenaries under Cerberus employment attack and destroy the Collector Station; end of the Collector War; an AIS Ground Branch unit is deployed on the batarian world Aratoht to investigate batarian research on unknown relics; said unit proceeds to blow up the Alpha Relay and destroy the system of Bahak; the second human-batarian war begins; AIS agents along with N7 operatives destroy several batarian space stations and naval bases; batarians retaliate by orbitally bombarding several human colonies.
2236: The Reaper War begins; Reapers arrive in the lower-right quadrant of the galactic disk; the batarian hegemony falls; Earth falls; Taetrus falls; battle of Menae takes place; a Spectre unit led by Jondum Bau saves the hanar homeworld of Kahje from being invaded by Reapers, the hanar and drell join the war effort; historical meeting takes place between turians, salarians and krogan; Cerberus forces attack Sur'kesh; the Genophage cure is deployed; krogan forces arrive at Palaven; the Crucible Project begins; Noveria defects to Cerberus.
2237: Cerberus attempts a coup at Citadel; the second battle of Citadel occurs; Cerberus is severely damaged by the failure of the coup; the asari republics join the war effort; the quarian-geth conflict comes to an end; quarian fleets reinforce the turian and asari fleets; geth troops provide support on several battlefields; Task Force Hercules conducts a series of surgical strikes against Reaper forces across the galaxy; the multi-species spec ops brigade earns a name; the rachni join the battle against the Reapers; rachni troops turn the tide of battle in the Hades Gamma region.
2238: Operation Paladin takes place, turians distribute prototype thanix technology amongst allies; the Miracle of Palaven takes place; Reaper forces suffer the largest defeat in the war; turians liberate the Trebia system; fall of Dekuuna, allied fleets evacuate a significant portion of elcor; the elcor join the war effort; Reaper forces approach Athena Nebula.
2239: After three months of ground war, Thessia falls; Cerberus operatives steal the Catalyst for the Crucible superweapon from Serrice; asari forces are almost routed but somehow hold together; a joint armada of Alliance, Hierarchy and Migrant Fleets conduct the largest evacuation operation in galactic history; over a billion asari are evacuated from Thessia; the salarian union finally joins the war effort; STG and AIS units liberate Noveria; proof indicates that Cerberus has been completely indoctrinated; the battle of Horizon occurs; Miranda Lawson leads a scathing campaign against Cerberus; Minutemen Station is destroyed, remaining forces join the war effort; Cronos Station is destroyed and Cerberus falls; the Illusive Man defects to the Reapers; the Reapers capture the Citadel; the Citadel gets brought over Earth; battle of Earth occurs; the Crucible is launched; allied forces emerge victorious as the Reapers are destroyed; the mass relay network is severely damaged.
2241: Treaty of Farixen is amended.
2245: The Mass Relay network is 50% repaired; the Anansi-Ishtar lane resumes trading after six years; a joint BlackWatch-N7 team massacres a slaver ring on Adek.
