Digimon United
Another spring has sprung in the United States and Tommy Wilkins and his Fifth-grade class is about to embark on a field trip. This field trip is different for Tommy however as it is an overnight field trip in Washington D.C. His class is to spend three days touring the capital and visiting landmarks.
Tommy likes field trips but wasn't really eager to visit the nation's capital all that much. The day he had brought home the permission slip to his parents, he wanted to tell them he wasn't interested in going.
The moment they realized it was to Washington D.C., they urged Tommy to go. They told him it would be a really good experience for him as he could learn about the country's history a lot better and perhaps be inspired as his father told him.
Tommy pretested in going but after being pushed too much by his parents finally agreed into going. He planned on staying in his hotel room as much of the trip as he could as he figured the trip would go by quicker.
The week of the trip, Tommy got himself packed and did so as minimally as he could so he didn't have to lug too many things around. He filled his backpack with only things that he would want to have immediate access to (snacks, drink, and pillow to sleep on the bus with).
His father gave him a duffle bag to use to carry extra clothes and toiletries as well as other miscellaneous items. The trip was to travel by bus through the evening of the Thursday before and travel through the night and arrive early Friday morning and leave about Sunday afternoon and be home by that evening.
Tommy took a power nap Thursday afternoon so he wouldn't be too tired to board the bus that night. At about 9:50 pm, Tommy's parents arrived at the school to drop him off.
"Have a good time son." His father said.
"Yes, and try not to get into trouble while you are there okay?" his mom said.
Tommy rolled his eyes.
"Whatever…" Tommy said as he grabbed his things and got out of the car.
Tommy started walking towards the buses and heard a honk behind him. He turned to see his parents waving as they pulled out of the parking lot. In the crowd, Tommy could see his teacher, Mrs. Horne, and began to walk towards her.
As he walked towards the bus he could see Mrs. Horne ushering his classmates onto the bus. As he got closer, she noticed him.
"Ah, Mr. Wilkins…glad you could make it. Your reported disinterest in the trip made me wonder if you were going to show up."
"Yeah, well my parents told me it was good for me to go on this trip, so here I am." Tommy said.
"Uh-huh…okay well I signed you in already. Oh, give me your duffle bag and I will place it in storage. Also, I'm advising everyone to get some rest as I want everyone bright-eyed and bushy-tailed when we arrive.
"You got it." Tommy said as he handed his duffle bag to his teacher.
Tommy was a little tired even after taking a nap earlier in the day and was more than happy to go to sleep on the bus. He grabbed an empty seat and placed his backpack on the floor by his feet.
He retrieved his pillow and rested it between his head and the back of his seat. After a few moments of closing his eyes, he fell asleep and stayed that way until morning. The morning sun appeared in the sky and awoke Tommy the moment it hit his face.
Tommy awoke with a stretch and yawn. He pulled out his phone to see the time was about 6:30 am. He looked around to see most of his classmates still asleep. From the front of the bus, he could hear whispering and as he peered his head over the seats, he could see Mrs. Horne gently awakening those who weren't already.
As she finally got to where Tommy was seated, she peered over and seemed shocked that he was already awake.
"Oh, you're up already. Good…we'll be at the hotel in about 20 minutes."
Tommy nodded and looked out the window and observed D.C. A short time later the bus arrived at the Homewood Hilton and everyone began to disembark. All the teachers took roll call and Tommy could tell some of the other students were tired and some seemed like they wanted to go back to sleep.
Once roll was completed everyone was then instructed to pick up their baggage that had been stored. Tommy got on line to do so and waited. Once he got close, he could see the bus driver handing each student their bags.
"What's your name son?" the bus driver asked.
"Tommy Wilkins." Tommy responded.
"Okay, let's see here….Wilkins…Wilkins…" the bus driver said as he scanned over the remaining bags.
"Oh, here we are. Enjoy the trip and the sights." He said as he handed Tommy his bag with a smile.
"Thanks…" Tommy said.
As Tommy was about to exit the line, he noticed something dangling from one of the straps on his bag. It was some weird electronic device he had never seen before.
"Um excuse me, but this isn't mine." Tommy said as he turned back towards the bus driver.
The bus driver looked at the tag and looked at Tommy confused.
"You did say your name was Wilkins right?"
"Yes." Tommy said.
"Well the tag here says Wilkins…so I do believe it is indeed yours."
"No, I mean this thing hanging from it. It's not mine and I have no idea who it belongs to."
The bus diver looked at the device and scratched his head as if he had never seen anything like it.
"Well, I suggest you keep it on you so once you hear someone is missing something similar you can return it to them…sound good?"
"Yeah, I guess…" Tommy said as he placed the device in his pocket and headed into the hotel lobby for room assignments.
Upon reaching the lobby, Tommy could see Mrs. Horne passing out room keys to each pair of students. He could tell he was being passed over as his teacher would look at him for a brief moment before listing off other names. As all his classmates were paired off, Mrs. Horne approached Tommy with a dissatisfied look.
"Tommy, I need to talk to you about the room arrangements…it seems there was a bit of a mix-up." Mrs. Horne said.
"What do you mean?" Tommy asked.
"Well, you were assigned a room with a student from another school."
Tommy's heart sank, he knew what this could mean. Not only did it mean that he could be paired up with some kid he didn't know, but the kid could be the type that didn't shut up or the stinky kid that didn't bathe.
"The issue has already been fixed on their end but not on ours. So for the time being, you will be staying in the room alone."
Tommy stood stunned for a moment as he realized that his dread just turned into relief.
"I hope you're okay with this for now. My room is the one next to yours so if you need anything, don't hesitate to knock on my door."
"Okay, I will." Tommy said as he took the key card from his teacher.
Tommy looked at the key card and saw the number 431 printed on it. He knew enough that meant he was on the fourth floor and proceeded to the elevator. As he got into the elevator he saw some of his classmates and while the elevator was moving he heard how some of them were excited about their room assignments.
Tommy knew that ordinarily, he would have been envious of them but not this time. He was going to have the entire room to himself and to him nothing could have been better.
The elevator reached the fourth floor and everyone filed out one by one. Tommy jumped out, right as the doors started closing. He made his way to his room and slid the key card into the slot above the door handle.
The little light flashed green and as soon as he heard the lock disengage, Tommy entered the room. As he cleared the doorway, he slid the door closed and placed the key card into his pocket.
He looked around the room and realized it was a fairly large room and it was even larger since he was on his own. After throwing his bags onto the empty second bed, Tommy laid down on the bed that he was going to sleep in.
As he stared up at the ceiling, he thought to himself how even though he had the room to himself, he still wanted the trip to go as quickly as possible.
After some time, Tommy heard a knock on his door.
"Yes?" he said as he jumped off the bed and walked towards the door.
"It's me, Mrs. Horne. I need to tell you something." The voice on the other side said.
Tommy opened the door saw his teacher standing there.
"First off, how are you doing in here?" Mrs. Horne asked.
"Fine." Tommy responded.
"Good. So, in about ten minutes our class is going to head down to the cafeteria for some breakfast and then we will relax for another hour or so and then meet up once again to depart for the Smithsonian."
"Okay, got it."
"Alright, we'll meet in the hall for roll before we head down there."
Tommy nodded.
"Okay, see you in a little bit."
Mrs. Horne then turned and walked away and Tommy promptly closed the door. He then walked back to his bed and laid on it until it was time to meet up for breakfast. He met his class in the hall and once everyone was accounted for, they traveled to the cafeteria.
Tommy wasn't truly friendly with anyone in his class, so he ended up eating by himself. Once everyone was finished eating, they were escorted back to their rooms. With only the hour as mentioned, Tommy brushed his teeth and cleaned himself up. He flipped on the TV until a knock telling him his class was about to meet up.
This time his class met in the lobby for roll and they quickly boarded the bus and headed for the Smithsonian. The drive took about ten minutes and once everyone got off the bus, Mrs. Horne gathered everybody for roll once more.
"Okay everybody, here's what we are checking today. In the morning is the Air and Space Museum and Natural History Museum. We will break for lunch around noon and then check out the zoo for the afternoon.
But first, we are going to take a walk around the garden area before heading to the inside areas. Please take a wristband before heading off." Mrs. Horne said as she began handing out wristbands.
Tommy had no desire to see any of the exhibits, so he waited to get his wristband last so he could talk to his teacher.
"And here is your wristband." Mrs. Horne said giving Tommy the last one.
"Mrs. Horne…can I ask you about something?" Tommy asked.
"Sure what is it?"
"Is it possible that I walk around by myself?"
"Well, technically that's not a very good idea. Why do you want to walk around by yourself?"
"As you already know, I'm not really interested in anything on this trip…well maybe the Natural History Museum since I like dinosaurs. But that's it, I'd rather just wander around.
I promise to not stray too far from the group and if you tell me the times to meet up I also promise to come back when needed."
Mrs. Horne didn't want to allow one of her students to meander around, but she didn't want to inturn force one of them to do things they don't want to do. She also knew that Tommy was not a trouble maker at least not in her class. So, against her better judgment, she allowed him to do as he asked.
"Sigh…Okay, but you better keep your promise. I don't want to explain why I cannot find one of my students.
"You have my word Mrs. Horne and thank you." Tommy said as he began to turn away.
He remembered the device that he had found attached to his bag and turned back towards his teacher.
"Um…can I ask one more thing?"
"Don't push your luck…"
"No, it's about something else. I found something attached to my bag earlier and it's definitely not mine, so if you hear anyone missing something can you let me know?"
"Yes, of course."
"Thanks." Tommy said as he turned away again.
As he began to wander around the garden area, he couldn't stop thinking about the device. Now completely curious, he retrieved it from his pocket and began to examine it.
To him, it looked like a very primitive cell phone (compared to his which was a mini processor and connected to the Internet most of the time). It had an overall oval shape the curved slightly near the bottom.
It had two rubber grips on either side, a small LCD screen with three small buttons underneath, and a small speaker near the bottom of the device. Under one of the buttons, he can see the word "Call".
"Call?" Tommy said in bewilderment.
He did see the speaker that could have been a diaphragm like that of an old phone or walkie-talkie but saw nothing that would have acted as a receiver. After realizing he had been walking around without looking, Tommy looked up and knew he was in trouble.
After looking around, not only did he not see any of his classmates or teacher, but no one. Not only that, but he noticed the sky had darkened. He became more confused as the sun was shining rather brightly not too long ago.
"What's wrong kid? Are you afraid to be alone?" a mysterious voice said.
Tommy looked towards the voice and was shocked at what he saw. A being not too much shorter than himself was hobbling towards him. The being was completely skeletonized and wore tattered clothing and carried a long bone in its hand.
A sting of fear shot through his body. As the being hobbled closer, Tommy started to back away. After a few steps back, Tommy tripped and fell on the concrete walkway. He winced as his backside struck the ground. As he looked up, the skeletal being was now standing above him.
"What do you want from me?" Tommy said.
The being stared down at him and laughed.
"Want from you? That's easy…to die! Bone Crusher!" the being yelled as it raised and swung the large bone it was carrying down towards Tommy.
Tommy shook the fear and rolled out of the way to the attack. He was able to get to his feet and watched as the concrete shattered as the bone weapon smashed into it. The skeletal being then turned towards him and began to make its way towards him again.
"Crap, what do I do now?" Tommy said.
After a moment of unsure of what to do, a voice called out to him.
"Call me!" the voice said.
Tommy looked around but didn't see anyone.
"Is there someone there?" he called out.
"Yes, just call me!" the voice said.
"Call you...how do I do that?"
"Press the call button and hold up the Digivice."
"Digivice? Is that what this thing is? Alright, here goes…"
Tommy then pressed the "Call" button and held up the device. As the skeletal being was only a foot away, the screen on the device lit up and shined brightly. The light blinded the skeletal being causing it to drop its bone weapon.
Just then, another being came out from the device, a bird-like creature with dark gray colored feathers and a red, white, and blue colored headband.
"Wing Breaker!" the creature shouted as it attacked the other.
The creature smacked its wing into the side of the skeletal being's head, sending it tumbling sideways. The bird-like creature flapped its wings and slowly landed directly in front of Tommy.
"Who…are you?" Tommy asked.
"Leave the introductions for later, first I have to take care of him." The bird-like creature said.
The skeletal being stood up after colliding with a garbage can and picked off a few pieces of garbage.
"I'm going to get you for that…" the skeletal being said in a vicious tone.
The being took the large bone and held it above its head and proceeded to break it in half.
"Bone Barrage!" the being shouted as he began to throw a multitude of bones towards the two of them.
After a moment of standing there, the bird-like creature raised its wings in front of it.
"Pin Feather!" it shouted as similar to the other attack, a multitude of feathers shot from its wings towards the other.
Tommy watched as the bones made their way towards the feathers and vice versa. He stood in awe and shock as he witnessed the feather destroyed the bones. The feathers however continued on their path and in a blink of an eye, pierced the body of the skeletal being.
"You….will pay…for this…" the skeletal being said before disintegrating into nothing.
"Yeah right, bone breath…hey are you okay?" the bird-like creature said as it turned towards Tommy.
"Um…yeah…" Tommy said still in shock.
"Nice to meetcha, that names Beakmon." The creature said as it extended a wing towards Tommy.
"I'm uh…Tommy."
"I can feel were going to be great partners." Beakmon said.
"Partners?" Tommy said completely confused.
"Yeah, ya know to save the Digital World…oh, and your world.
"To be honest…I have no idea what you're talking about."
"Don't worry, I'll fill you in as much as I can. I'm sure that will be enough for now. But I did use up a bit of energy just now so can you do me a favor and hit the call button again?"
"Um…sure." Tommy said as he obliged his "partner".
Tommy pressed the button as he had before and the same light came forth and enveloped Beakmon.
"Catch ya later." Beakmon said as it disappeared back into the device.
"Wow…that was wild…" Tommy said.
After a few moments, the sky brightened up again. Tommy looked around again and saw people around him. While trying to comprehend what just happened, he felt a hand on his shoulder from behind.
"Here you are…didn't you promise me you weren't going to stray too far away?" a familiar voice said.
Tommy turned around and saw his teacher standing with a very disapproving look on her face.
"I know…I'm sorry. I lost track of where I was." Tommy said apologizing.
"Well, I'm sure you didn't mean to do it. But that means no more being on your own for the remainder of the trip, understand?"
"Yes…" Tommy said.
Tommy was a little angry at himself that he let his teacher down, but he couldn't tell her what he witnessed as he knew she wouldn't believe him even in the slightest.
"I need you to stay in my vision for all other activities for the remainder of the trip got it? We're heading inside now to see the Air and Space Museum."
Tommy reluctantly agreed and followed his class inside. He wasn't too happy about walking around the Air and Space exhibits but found a little joy in the dinosaur exhibits at the Natural History Museum.
His class broke for lunch right outside the zoo and headed in as soon as everyone was finished eating. Tommy wasn't fond of the zoo as he didn't like seeing the animals caged up and preferred to see them in an open safari type of place.
After seeing all the animals, his class made their way back to the bus and headed back to the hotel. Upon reaching the hotel lobby and took the final roll for the day, Tommy nearly ran for the elevator so he could relax for the remainder o the day.
He had stockpiled snacks from his classmates from earlier in the day so he didn't have to go downstairs for dinner and would tell Mrs. Horne he wasn't feeling well to have dinner when she came to tell him about dinner.
Tommy found himself on his bed surrounded by candy and snack wrappers and watching TV. Eventually, he turned off the TV and pulled out the device from his pocket, and examined it again.
He wondered if he had seen those things happen and thought about both the skeletonized being and Beakmon. As he examined it more, he noticed the screen was flashing little patterns as before there was nothing.
"How's it going champ?" a voice said from the device.
"Whoa!" Tommy shouted as he then tossed the device to the other end of the bed.
"Hey, is that any way to treat your new partner?" the voice said.
"Either I'm tired or I ate too many snacks." Tommy said.
"What ya talking about? It's me, Beakmon. I'm talking to you from inside the Digivice."
"Wait…from inside?"
"Yeah, when you pushed the call button, as I asked…I stored my data inside of the Digivice so I could recharge."
"I have no idea what you're talking about…again."
"Since I recovered enough energy, how about you summon me again and I can try to explain a few things."
Tommy's first thought was bringing Beakmon out into his hotel room might be a bad idea. But after realizing that he was the only one staying and all he would have to do is hit the call button if there was any risk of anyone seeing him.
"Okay, sure." Tommy said as he hit the call button.
Beakmon appeared n stood at the end of the bed. He stretched his wings and yawned.
"Man, it does feel good to be out of that device sometimes." Beakmon said.
"I'm sure it does…can you explain things now?"
"Certainly, I come from a world called the Digital World. It was a world that other Digimon like myself could run and play and do whatever their heart desired. That all changed the day The Imprisoned showed up."
"The Imprisoned?" Tommy questioned.
"Yes, they are a bunch of evil Digimon that set to have all of the Digital World under their power. They are controlled by Inmatemon, a despicable Digimon who see all other Digimon as slaves for all his bidding."
"Inmatemon seems like a real douche." Tommy commented.
Beakmon looked at Tommy confused.
"If that's a bad thing then I agree. But there is a group fighting against The Imprisoned, trying to bring back freedom for all Digimon kind."
"Who are they?"
"The Revolution."
"The Revolution huh? That's a pretty cool name."
"Absolutely. They were founded by Cheetahmon, a gallant Digimon who won't rest until every Digimon was free from tyranny and slavery."
"So if they are fighting one another, then what do I have anything to do with it?" Tommy asked.
"Why…you're a Digidestined."
"Digidestined?"
"That's right, and I'm your Digimon partner…but I told you that already. You and I as well as the other Digidestined will join forces with Cheetahmon and put an end to Inmatemon's plans."
"So let me get this straight…there is basically a war between two groups in what is known as the Digital World over the freedom of its inhabitants. And there are other kids like me with a Digimon partner with whom I am to team up with and bring peace to said Digital World." Tommy said piecing everything together.
"That is 100 percent correct. See, I told you that we're going to be great partners." Beakmon said as he puffed up his chest.
"I don't think I can handle this."
"What do ya mean? You've already proven you and I can act in battle together." Beakmon said a little discouraged.
"The thing is, I'm on a field trip right now in Washington D.C. and I'm only here for a day and a half."
"Well, that's okay."
"It is?"
"Of course. You and me are partners right? So the two of us are gonna save both our worlds, and that means I stick with you until that gets accomplished."
"So that means you're here coming home with me?"
"Uh-huh…but while we're, he have to find any other Digides…" Beakmon said as there was then a knock on the door.
"Shoot, it's probably Mrs. Horne. Quick, get back in the Digivice." Tommy said as he then hit the call button, sucking Beakmon back into the Digivice.
"Hey, hold on!" Beakmon said before being completely sucked in.
Tommy slid the Digivice into his pocket and walked towards the door. Upon opening the door he saw Mrs. Horne.
"Um, this may be a silly question…but is there someone in here with you?" she said inquisitively.
"Uh…no. I'm in here alone remember?"
"I do, it's just before I knocked on the door I could have sworn you were talking to someone."
Tommy knew he couldn't expose Beakmon.
"Oh, I was just on the phone with my mom. I was telling her how the trip was going."
"Oh okay. I just wanted to tell you that we are headed down to dinner in a little bit.
"Oh, about dinner…I'm really not that hungry so I think I'm going to pass."
Mrs. Horne peered in and saw the junk food wrappers on the bed.
"Of course you're not hungry…you spent the afternoon eating half your weight in junk food. Ok fine…but please stay in your room and if you need anything I'll be downstairs okay?"
"Yup, got it."
"Please don't disappoint me like you did earlier alright?"
"Yes ma'am." Tommy said then throwing up a Scout salute.
Mrs. Horne then walked away and Tommy closed the door afterward. He let out Beakmon again and apologized. The two of them told the other about each other's worlds.
Beakmon told Tommy about all the hard-working Digimon from the area of the Digital World he was from. Tommy told Beakmon about his parents and hometown. They talked to one another until it was starting to get late.
Tommy called Beakmon back to the Digivice and turned in for the night. The next morning Tommy awoke and got ready as his stomach was craving some breakfast. He met his class in the hall as soon as he heard his teacher knock.
Roll was taken and made their way to the cafeteria. Tommy stacked as much as he could onto a plate and sat down. Right as he was about to take a big forkful, he was interrupted.
"Hey, you're gonna share some of that right? A voice came from his pocket.
Tommy reached in his pocket and pulled out the Digivice.
"Beakmon?" Tommy said.
On the LCD screen, he could see a small pixelated sprite of Beakmon.
"Yes, but you didn't answer my question…you are going to share some of that good-smelling food right?"
Tommy sat stunned as he realized that Beakmon could sense things from inside the Digivice.
"What are you playing with…one of those stupid 90's toys?" a voice said.
Tommy looked up and saw one of his female classmates.
"Oh, this…I saw this in the gift shop a the Smithsonian, so I bought it."
"What a geek…" the classmate said as she went back to her seat.
"I can't give you any food right now and besides when you start needing food?"
"Since always."
"I'll get you something later. How does potato chips sound?"
"Okay…I guess..." Beakmon said disappointed.
Tommy started to down food in front of him, putting most professional eaters to shame. After breakfast, Tommy sat on his bed and thought about Beakmon. He was amazed that a digital being can smell food and crave it as well.
Tommy relaxed for a bit after breakfast, and later Mrs. Horne called everybody to the lobby. She told everyone about the day's activities. They were going to spend the day in the capital and see all the various monuments and buildings. Tommy hated that he was going to have to stay with the group this time but if it made things smoother then he was okay with it.
As he followed his class around, they saw the Washington Monument, the Capitol Building, and passed by the White House. As they approached the Lincoln Memorial, Beakmon sensed something was wrong.
"Tommy, I sense something is wrong with this area…keep your eyes open." Beakmon said from the Digivice.
"You got it." Tommy said as he began to peer around him.
As the class reached the front of the memorial, Beakmon sensed a malicious energy and was able to pinpoint it.
"Tommy, behind this monument I sense a terrible energy. We must investigate immediately." Beakmon said.
"That's way too far away. Mrs. Horne will kill me if I try to go over that way." Tommy said.
"I sense a second energy and it's gonna be in real trouble if we down move."
After thinking for a moment, Tommy came up with an idea.
"I think I got a plan…here goes…" Tommy said as he then began to sprint towards Mrs. Horne.
"Mrs. Horne…I know you told me to stay with the group but…I gotta pee real bad." Tommy said in a frantic manner.
"Oh okay…well the bathrooms are back that way…" Mrs. Horne said as she turned her head behind her."
"I don't have the time to go back that way…I'll just go behind the monument." Tommy said as he then started to run.
"Hurry Tommy, there isn't much time!" Beakmon said.
Tommy ran as fast as his legs could carry him and as he reached the backside of the monument, the sky grew dark as it did the day before. He looked and saw a boy on the ground cowering in fear. Standing over him was the same being he himself encounter.
"That kid is in trouble, we got to help him." Tommy said.
"Call me and I'll handle this." Beakmon said.
Tommy did as he did before and Beakmon came out of the Digivice.
"Stop right there DemiSkullmon!" Beakmon shouted.
The being looked over in their direction and had a grimace spread across his face.
"Get out of here Beakmon…this is between me and the kid." DemiSkullmon said.
"Did you already forget what happened last time?"
"No, I didn't…after Inmatemon brought me back and gave me one more chance…I actually came prepared this time…"
DemiSkullmon took a few steps towards Beakmon and upon snapping his fingers, a dark portal opened up behind DemiSkullmon and a bunch more of his kind came through.
"I decided to bring some friends to the party…Bone Brigade attack!" DemiSkullmon shouted as he pointed his bone weapon towards Beakmon.
The group of DemiSkullmon then charged towards them. Tommy stood nervously behind Beakmon who stood steadfast.
"You got this?" Tommy asked.
"Uh-huh. Just do me a favor, while I distract them…grab the kid alright?" Beakmon said as he peered at Tommy behind him.
"You got it...and do me a favor…don't get hurt out there."
Beakmon smirked as he then faced back towards the Bone Brigade.
"Time to show what I can really do…" Beakmon said as he crouched slightly.
After a moment, Beakmon pushed off with his foot that was behind him and bum-rushed towards the group of DemiSkullmon. The two groups closed in on each other, but Beakmon was ready.
"Wing Breaker!" Beakmon shouted as he collided with his opponent.
The first set of DemiSkullmon got hit with Beakmon's attack and disintegrated instantly. The rest were knocked back by the force of the attack. Beakmon charged the group of four DemiSkullmon as they stood dazed.
With four single Wing Breaker's, Beakmon dispatched them with ease. The two remaining DemiSkullmon stood a short distance on either side of Beakmon. He could tell they were about the same distance from him. He crossed his wings over his chest and waited.
"Don't just stand there you boneheads, get'em!" DemiSkullmon yelled.
The two other DemiSkullmon then began to charge towards Beakmon. Beakmon still stood, wings crossed. As the two DemiSkullmon were about to attack Beakmon, he retaliated.
"Double Wing Breaker!" Beackmon shouted as he struck each DemiSkullmon with his wings simultaneously.
Beakmon now exhausted, returned to where he left Tommy and saw he had gotten the other kid to safety.
"I knew…I could count…on you." Beakmon said out of breath.
Tommy was relieved Beakmon got through that fight without a scratch.
"Dammit…well, time for Plan B I suppose…" DemiSkullmon said as he snapped his fingers once again.
Again a dark portal opened up and a larger group of Digimon came through it. More DemiSkullmon stood with a few larger skeletal beings with big swords and large metal armor.
"Meet the rest of the Bone Brigade…forty DemiSkullmon and a few ArmorSkullmon sprinkled in for extra flavoring." DemiSkull said then started to cackle.
Tommy could see Beakmon had very little to offer in a fight such as this and was concerned about his partner.
"So, what do we do about this?" Tommy asked.
"You got those potato chips you promised me?" Beakmon said.
"Uh…yeah…" Tommy said as he reached into his backpack.
He pulled out a bag of potato chips and proceeded to pop it open.
"Toss it over here…" Beakmon said as he outstretched his wing.
Tommy obliged and tossed it towards Beakmon's direction. The bag landed directly onto Beakmon's wing and in the blink of an eye, scarfed down its contents.
"Yup…that's what I needed…" Beakmon said as he could feel energy flowing through him.
Beakmon raised up his wings as more energy began to flow through him.
"Time to take this to the next level…what do ya say?..." Beakmon said.
Just then, the Digivice in Tommy's pocket started to vibrate like crazy. He pulled it out of his pocket but due to the vibration couldn't hold on to it. The Digivice bounced on the ground towards Beakmon. The Digivice stopped vibrating and a bright light shot up from it.
"Let's do this…" Beakmon said as then started to flap his wings. As he flew upwards, he then moved into the light from the Digivice. As the light enveloped him a surge of energy filled Beakmon.
"It's time to end this…" Beakmon said.
Tommy could only stare, unknowing what Beakmon was doing. As soon as his body was filled with enough energy, Beakmon converged it all inside of him.
"Beakmon Digivolve to…." Beakmon shouted as he could feel his body starting to change.
Tommy stared in awe, not believing what he was witnessing.
"Talonmon!" an unfamiliar voice shouted.
From within the light to very large brown feathered wings shot out into the open air. After a few moments, the light faded and a new being sat in Beakmons' place.
A large eagle-like being sat hovering in the air with massive wings keeping it afloat. It had a bulky muscular body with a bandana-like cloth wrapped over its forehead which had red and blue stripes and white stars. Around its waist was a belt that holds a saber and two tomahawks and a musket strapped to its back.
Tommy just stood there, looking in pure awe at what his partner just became.
"No! Kill that damn bird!" DemiSkullmon shouted.
In response, the DemiSkullmon pulled out bone bows and arrows and began to fire them at Talonmon.
"I guess that have to put these bones to rest…" Talonmon said.
Talonmon's wings began to glow and each feather became hard as steel. He climbed a little higher in the sky and then started to swoop down towards the DemiSkullmon and ArmorSkullmon.
Talonmon's wings started to curl around his body as he continued to swoop down. Each arrow struck, but was deflected upon hitting Talonmon's wings. With no other recourse, the DemiSkullmon started to panic. Talonmon finished his divebombing and slammed into the DemiSkullmon and ArmorSkullmon.
Due to the power of Talonmon's attack, a wave of energy shot across the ground, nearly knocking Tommy to the ground. A cloud of dust surrounded the divebomb site and Talonmon jumped back out of it.
As the dust finally settled, all DemiSkullmon had been obliterated, and only the three ArmorSkullmon remained. Each of the ArmorSkullmon raised their swords and let out a bone-chilling yell.
Undeterred, Talonmon reached and hilt of his saber and freed it from its sheath. He raised it evenly to his chest and readied himself.
"Saber Bird Slash!" Talonmon shouted as he rushed in and struck each ArmorSkullmon once.
Talonmon sheathed his saber as All three ArmorSkullmon fell to the ground and promptly disintegrated into nothing. Talonmon turned towards DemiSkullmon.
"This isn't over!" DemiSkullmon shouted as he opened a portal and disappeared inside of it.
Talonmon walked back over to the others.
"Wow! That was super cool! Is that really you Beakmon?" Tommy said with a huge smile on his face.
As Talonmon was about to answer, he could feel all the energy leave his body. He began to glow brightly as his body went back to Beakmon but kept regressing into a small grayish round being with small wings and stood on one centralized foot.
"That was one heck of a battle huh? By the way, I'm Eagletmon." It said.
"Eagletmon? Where's Beakmon?" Tommy asked.
"If you train me and I become stronger, I can become Beakmon again. For now, I need to rest, so if you don't mind…" Eagletmon said.
Tommy picked up the Digivice and called Eagletmon back inside of it. The sky grew bright again as Tommy looked around. Remembering the kid, Tommy turned his attention to him.
"Hey kid, you alright?" Tommy said.
The kid was still in awe and didn't seem to hear Tommy.
"I said are you alright?" Tommy said as he placed his hand on the kid's shoulder.
"Oh yeah…I am, thanks." The kid said as he finally came back to his senses.
"What's your name?"
"Jake."
"Well Jake, if you're okay then you should rejoin your class."
"Oh okay…thanks again for saving me." Jake said as he started to run towards his class.
He turned back real quick and waved to Tommy. Tommy waved back and Jake smiled.
"Sigh…that was really something." Tommy said looking at the Digivice.
He realized he should get back to his class and started running back. As he turned the corner and back to the front of the monument, he saw Mrs. Horne starting to make her way around the monument. He ran staright up to her and stopped, completely out of breath.
"Mrs. Horne…I…I…" Tommy was only able to say.
"It's okay Tommy. I didn't realize you had to go to the bathroom so badly. When you catch your breath we are going to meet over there for lunch." Mrs. Horne said.
"…Okay…" Tommy said.
After finally able to breathe properly, Tommy joined his class for lunch. The rest of the day was uneventful and Tommy and his class returned to the hotel. After dinner, Tommy laid on his bed and thought about what had happened earlier in the day. He was amazed at Beakmon's transformation into Talonmon.
He really wanted to see it again and vowed to train Eagletmon up to Beakmon again into Talonmon.
