As once I fell…. so falls the last Skywalker. The Emperor's words echoed in Rey's head. Ben solo was dead! Tossed away by the Emperor like nothing. Thrown down a bottomless chasm. Rey lays on her back looking up, watching her friends [the Resistance ships, falling from the sky. They have failed. She has failed. Rey's hope dwindling. The Final Battle has just begun…. but seems already lost.
[Palpatine arms stretched upward. Force Lightning bursting from his fingertips]
PALPATINE: (Laughing evilly) Do not fear that feeble attack….my faithful. Nothing will stop the return of the Sith!
[a weakened Rey watches the Resistance being destroyed by Palpatine's Force lightning]
REY: Be with me. Be with me. Be with me.
[Rey hears the voices of past Jedi]
OBI-WAN: These are your final steps. Rey. Rise and take them.
YODA: Rise up, you must.
KANAN: Rey. Do not lose hope.
LUMINARA: In the dark, find the light. Rey.
MACE: You are not alone, Rey.
QUI-GON: Every Jedi who has ever lived lives in you.
AAYLA: Let the Force guide you.
MACE: Feel the Force flowing through you, Rey.
ANAKIN: Let it lift you.
YODA: Do or do not.
OBI-WAN: Now is the time.
QUI GON: Rise, Rey.
KANAN: Rise.
MACE: Rise.
LUKE: Rey, the Force will be with you, always.
[Rey finally rises, stands before Palpatine, and lights her saber]
[Breathing heavily]
[Palpatine stops his Force lightning attack on the Resistance ships and turns towards Rey]
PALPATINE: [to Rey] Let your death be the final word….. in the story of the Rebellion.
[Palpatine turns his Force lightning on Rey. Laughing.]
[as Rey is deflecting Palpatine's Force lightning with her saber, she reaches back and calls Ben's discarded saber. Rey ignites the second saber and crosses it with the other in front of her chest]
POE: I'm back on! This is our last chance. We got to hit those cannons now!
THE AERIAL BATTLE BETWEEN THE RESISTANCE AND LAST ORDER REMAINS THE SAME AS THE MOVIE
[Rey grunting]
[Palpatine laughing. View of Rey and Palpatine in a stalemate. Rey still deflecting the Force lightning with both sabers. Neither side gaining an advantage]
[Rey's Face strained. Sweat on her forehead]
[Close up of Rey's footing. Rey being pushed back]
[Grunts]
[Palpatine intensifies his Force lightning]
[Camera quickly follows the Force lightning hitting Luke's saber and traveling down into the hilt]
[Close up of the Kyber Crystal enclosed in the saber. Multiple cracks suddenly appear on the surface of the crystal]
[Luke's saber now begins to crack and crackle identical to Kylo Ren's saber]
[Rey looks at the saber. A look of concern comes over her face]
PALPATINE: [to Rey] You are nothing! A scavenger girl is no match for the power in me. I am the Sith!
[The saber continues to crackle. Rey straining finally drops Luke's saber, now deflecting the Force lightning with one saber]
[Rey drops to one knee. Breathing heavily]
[Some of the Force lightning hitting Rey. She can not deflect it all with only one saber]
PALPATINE: The time has come!
[Palpatine stops attacking Rey]
[Rey's blade retracts. Now on her hands and knees. Breathing heavily. Exhausted]
[Palpatine stands over Rey. Evil grin spreads across his face as lightning and the sound of battle echo in the background]
PALPATINE: [to Rey] You will now join me. Let me show you the Power of the Dark Side. Rule the galaxy by my side. As my new apprentice. My granddaughter. It is your birth right. Together we shall bring Peace and Prosperity to the galaxy!
REY: [to Palpatine] [exhausted] Never. You only bring fear and pain.
[Smile slowly spreads across Palpatine's face]
PALPATINE: [soft, condescending] No. No. No. My dear. I bring strength and subjugation to the galaxy.
[Rey grabs her lightsaber, reigniting it.]
[Rey screams and leaps at Palpatine]
[Palpatine raises his arm to block Rey's attempt]
[A hidden lightsaber can be seen sliding out of his robe and into his hand]
[Palpatine ignites his red saber and blocks Rey's attempt as she comes down with her saber, just above Palpatine's head]
[The red saber reflects off Palpatine's evil face]
[Rey strains]
PALPATINE: [to Rey] How disappointing. A great Sith you could have been.
[The sound of a third saber igniting off screen can be heard]
[Rey's expression changes to shock and pain]
[Groans]
[Camera pans out to show Palpatine has ignited a second saber hidden in his robe. With his free hand, Palpatine has stabbed Rey through her abdomen]
[Rey drops her saber to the ground. The blade can be heard retracting]
{Thunder crackles in the background]
[Now with his other hand free, Palpatine stabs Rey through the other side of her abdomen. Both ends of the sabers can be seen. Reminiscent to Hans Solo's death]
[Palpatine retracts his blades]
[Rey falls to the ground]
[Rey lays on the ground holding her sides]
[Camera shot from Rey's point of view. Palpatine turning and walking back towards his throne]
PALPATINE: [to Rey] You will live just long enough….. to watch your friends die.
[Palpatine walking to his throne, suddenly stops. Senses something]
[A disembodied hand surrounded in a blue light touches Rey's forehead]
REY: [Tear's on face] I failed. I wasn't strong enough. Master Skywalker, I let everybody down.
[Palpatine turns to see the Force Ghost of Luke Skywalker kneeling beside Rey}
[Force Ghost Luke comforting Rey]
LUKE: [to Rey] Hush child. You did no such thing. This burden was never yours to carry alone. We all have a stake in this and a part to play. The Force wills it. Your part is done for now. You did great.
PALPATINE: [to Luke] Ah Master Skywalker. Come to watch the end of your rebellion and the death of your Padawan?
[Luke stands and faces the Emperor]
LUKE: [Calm/Confident] No I have come to stop you and put an end to this.
PALPATINE: [to Luke] Oh and how do you expect to do that. You are nothing but an annoyance. A spectre of your former self. I could simply wave you away with my hand. You. Have. Lost. You are already dead.
LUKE: [to Palpatine] You underestimate the will of the Jedi…. and my power.
[Palpatine laughs]
PALPATINE: [to Luke] There are no more Jedi. I have seen to that. The Sith once again rule the galaxy!
[Shot of the throne room and the Sith disciples cheering]
LUKE: [to Palpatine] No there is still hope! You do not rule yet. The Jedi still live. You were right to fear us….to fear me.
PALPATINE [to Luke] Fear you? [Laughing] I broke you! Turned Ben Solo to the Dark Side as I did your Father…..as I almost did with you.
[Palpatine laughing evilly]
PALPATINE [to Luke] Sensing the Future is not a strong point for you Skywalkers. I brought you to the edge of the abyss. You let Fear in. You glimpsed what young Ben was capable of and it frightened you.
[Palpatine slow smile]
PALPATINE: [to Luke] Fear is a path to the Dark Side. When the moment came to confront your Fear and save everyone and everything you held dear…you pulled back into the Light. It was….. very disappointing. Something unexpected happened though. Left with consequence you were when young Ben Solo saw his Uncle standing over him. Lightsaber drawn. Ready to murder him in his sleep.
[Palpatine gleefully breaths in trembling]
PALPATINE: [to Luke] the Fear instilled in young Ben in that moment was….. delectable. What could he (Ben) think? The savior of the galaxy. The great Jedi Master Luke Skywalker….. thought he was a monster. So a monster he would become. You turned Ben to the Dark Side. Then went into hiding from the shame of what you had done. Even I did not foresee that outcome.
[Luke looks down. An expression of sadness and shame on his face]
LUKE: [to Palpatine] Yes. It was my fault. I was unaware of what was truly happening. I was unwise and let my fear and ego cloud my judgement. I could not face the people I let down. Locked myself away from the Force for a long time after that, I did.
[Luke looks back up at Palpatine]
LUKE: [to Palpatine] I thought I was done with the Force. Done with all this…. but then it called out to me. I sensed something that should not be…. something familiar. An unbalance in the Force. I do not understand how you managed to return… but this ends now.
[Palpatine turns from Luke. Takes a couple steps towards his throne. Unconcerned. Stops]
[Camera view in front of Palpatine, Luke standing in the distance behind him. Close up of Palpatine's face clouded in shadow. Scene reminiscent to Anakin and Obi-Wan in Revenge of the Sith]
PALPATINE: [to Luke] It is already done. You are too late. Enjoy watching the end of your Rebellion.
LUKE: [to Palpatine] You are wrong. I possess a power that you could not possibly comprehend. Born from the Light of hope. As the Dark rises so will the Light to meet it. You are not the only one who can seemingly come back from the dead.
PALAPTINE: [to Luke] Such a power is only possible through the Dark Side of the Force.
[Palpatine sneers]
PALPATINE: [to Luke] Show me this so called power of yours. So that I can make it my own.
LUKE: [to Palpatine] You will never be able to use this power. You only seek to manipulate and control the Force. To bend it to your will. I work with the Force. I listen to it. I feel it around me. I learn from it. The Force is my ally….. and a powerful ally it is. This begun when the disembodied voice of Master Qui-Gon Jinn returned from the Netherworld of the Force, after being struck down by your Apprentice, Darth Maul.
[Palpatine's face shows anger and concern]
LUKE: [to Palpatine] it continued when my Master Obi-Wan returned to me in this Form, after he was cut down by my Father, Darth Vader. Master Yoda then returned and showed me that the outside world could still be manipulated through the Force.
[Luke's lightsaber rises into the air in front of Luke. It begins to rapidly spin in place while floating]
[Luke stretches out his hand. He makes the Force Choke gesture towards his saber. His hand slightly flexes and the saber stops spinning. The saber remains floating in place]
LUKE: [to Palpatine] Something was missing though. Something I did not quite understand. Something I could not learn from the ancient Jedi texts or through another living Jedi. Only a Jedi that had been to the Dark Side returned to the Light, could teach me.
[Close up of Luke's face. Blue glow illuminating it]
LUKE: [to Palpatine] Tell me Emperor… have you ever heard the tragedy of Darth Plagueis The Wise?
[Palpatine quickly turns. Look of surprise on his face]
PALPATINE: [Angry] [to Luke] What!
[An explosion of blue light erupts from Luke]
[Palpatine is pushed back by the Force. He raises his arm in front of his face to shield his eyes]
[Blue light dissipates]
[Palpatine lowers his arm and looks shocked]
[Luke stands in front of Rey. Rey laying on the ground. Luke is now solid. No longer a Force Ghost]
[Luke reaches out and grabs his lightsaber, still floating in front of him. He takes a fighting stance]
LUKE: [to Palpatine] Peace through fear and oppression is only…. slavery and servitude. I will return balance to the Force and set right what my Father did so many years ago. Your time is over… Darth Sidious.
[Duel of the Fates (music) begins to play]
[Luke ignites his saber. The blade is solid. Repaired]
[Palpatine stares down Luke]
[Hands down at his side. Lightsabers slide into Palpatine's hands from his robe.]
[Palpatine ignites one saber at a time]
LUKE: [under his breath] It's finally time.
[Evil screech. Palpatine leaps forward and attacks Luke]
[Luke calmly parries and deflects Palpatine's attacks]
[Palpatine laughs evilly. Enjoyment on his face]
[Rey's point of view. Watching the Emperor and Luke battle. The two moving much faster than men their ages should be. Sounds of lightsabers clashing. Eye's opening and closing slowly. Screen goes black]
INT. CHASM. DARK
[Ben laying face down on the ground]
[Boot, with a blue glow, steps in front of Ben's face. Pause]
[Darth Vader's iconic breathing]
[Boot walks away]
[Ben stirs. Coughing. Gasping]
[Ben struggles to sit up. Presses his back against a rock wall]
[Groans. Clothes torn. Forehead/Face cut and scraped from fall]
BEN: [Grimacing] Lord Vader?
[Force Ghost Anakin (Hayden Christensen) sitting casually on a ledge just above Ben]
ANAKIN: [to Ben] I wish I could say that name no longer had any meaning to me. It's a part of my past that I wish never happened. You can call me Anakin. My friends called me Ani or you can simply call me Grandfather.
[Ben laughs through pain]
BEN: [to Anakin] [Angry] You come to me now? Where were you when I needed you? I worshiped you!
[Anakin now next to Ben]
ANAKIN: [to Ben] A false idol. Not worthy of your admiration. You had other people you should have been looking up to. Your Father. Your Mother. Your Uncle.
BEN: [to Anakin] My Uncle? The man who tried to murder me in my sleep! He is more of a monster then the Emperor.
ANAKIN: [to Ben] No Ben. He made a mistake and he's been living with that pain ever since. Nobody is perfect. Not even the great Luke Skywalker. I'm not trying to take away what happened. Your feelings are completely justified. You were just a youngling. This is the way the Emperor works though. My old Master is strong in the Dark Side of the Force….but his true strength comes from Fear and Manipulation.
[Ben looking down. Thinking]
ANAKIN: [to Ben] Luke saw horrible things. Things that you were going to do. He did not know everything that was happening though. He ignited his saber but he never was going to strike you. Luke had already made that decision. When he realized how far he had come…. he was hit with overwhelming shame and sadness that he could doubt you in such a way. That's when you saw him. Nobody blames you for what happened.
BEN: [to Anakin] [Angry] Why did he not come to me? Why did you not come to me sooner? It's too late.
ANAKIN: [to Ben] Your anger and your hate made it impossible for us to reach you. Clouded in the Dark Side you were. If your own Mother and Father could not reach you…. how could we? You hated your Uncle and you thought I was already in your head. You never would have listened. It only would have served to confuse you and push you further to the Dark Side.
BEN: [to Anakin] No. No. Luke is not the hero you think he is. The Jedi are evil. And my parents…
ANAKIN: [to Ben] Love you. Even after all that you have done. So does your Uncle. After all these years he has not given up hope that you will come back from this path. All he wants is to see your pain end. The pain he caused. Ben. It's time to take your head out of your rear and see what's been in front of you all this time. Your parents have never stopped trying to bring you home. Your Uncle is the most powerful Jedi who has ever lived. Even now he fights the Emperor so we can have this time together, unnoticed.
[Ben look of surprise]
ANAKIN: [to Ben] At anytime Ben, your Uncle could have walked off that island he was on….and ended you. He did not though. He felt every death you caused. Everything you did in service of Snoke, of the Emperor. He (Luke) could feel the conflict in you….and silently shouldered some of that blame. He endlessly hoped that one day someone would finally reach you and bring out the Light… still in you. You were the child of his Sister and his dearest friend. In a way, Luke thought of you as the son he never could have had. He loves you even now and is sorry that he failed you. [Pauses] Search your feelings, Ben. You know this to be true.
[Tear runs down Ben's face]
BEN: I've done so much. (Overwhelming sadness) Killed so many people. Killed my father. I cannot be redeemed. Besides the Emperor is immortal. He cannot be killed. It is hopeless.
ANAKIN: [to Ben] No that's what he wants you to think. His own power can hurt him. I've seen it. It's the reason why is he is disfigured. It's time to start to make things right. Ben. You are on the wrong path. This is why you feel so conflicted all the time. You need to let go and unlearn what you have learned. To forgive and start dealing with your pain and the pain you have caused. [Pause] You can live with your guilt, Ben… but don't let it consume you. Our time has come to an end. It's time for you to Rise.
BEN: [to Anakin] I don't understand.
ANAKIN: [to Ben] Luke needs you. There's also another that needs you right now. A girl. A girl that has always seen the Light in you.
BEN: Rey.
ANAKIN: [to Ben] Now get up! Rise! Climb out of this pit and face your Destiny.
[Ben struggles to get up]
[Ben starts climbing. Hand over hand]
[Slow at first but picks up speed with renewed purpose]
[Anakin looking up. Presumably watching Ben climb]
ANAKIN: I'm very proud of you. May the Force be with you. Grandson.
INT. EXEGOL. SITH THRONE ROOM.
[Lightsaber duel between Palpatine and Luke continues]
[Palpatine laughing evilly]
PALPATINE: [to Luke] Our little green friend failed to defeat me in one on one combat. What makes you think you will fair any better?
LUKE: [to Palpatine] Failed? Yes. I know. The greatest teacher Failure is.
[Luke destroys both of Palpatine's lightsabers]
[Palpatine sits on the ground. Holding onto the front of his Throne]
[Grunts}
PALPATINE: [to Luke] Now strike me down. Use your Hate. Your Anger for what I have done to young Ben Solo. My spirit will pass into you.
LUKE: [to Palpatine] I think you will find my Will not so easily overtaken. Besides I brought friends in case your spirit tries to escape again.
[The Force Ghosts of Yoda, Obi-Wan, and Anakin appear behind Luke]
[Camera pans up. Multiple obscure Force Ghosts of other Jedi begin to appear behind Luke]
[Palpatine looks shocked]
PALPATINE: [Begging] You won't kill me. Will you? I'm defenceless. Weak. It is not the Jedi way.
LUKE: [to Palpatine] No I will not.
[Evil laughing]
PALPATINE: [to Luke] Your sentiment makes you weak. You have hate, you have anger, but you don't use them.
LUKE: [to Palpatine] I am a Jedi. Like my Father before me. But then again… we are not all Jedi here.
[Luke turns blue. Luke and the other Force Ghosts fade away into a blue haze]
[Ben walks through Luke as he fades]
[Ben grabs Luke's ignited saber]
[Grunts]
[Ben swings the saber at Palpatine]
[Force Lightning erupts from Palpatine's hands. Pushing Ben back]
[Ben reaches out and calls Leia's saber to his other hand]
[Ben crosses both sabers in front of his chest deflecting the Force Lightning]
[Laughing evilly]
PALPATINE: [to Ben] Look at what you could have become. I sense a change in you. If only you could have saved her.
[Ben looks back and sees Rey laying on the ground]
PALPATINE: [to Ben] Good! I feel your anger. Your hatred. You cannot deny what you are. Let me show you the Power of the Dark Side. What the Sith are capable of. Unlimited Power!
[Force Lightning intensifies]
[Ben is pushed back]
[Ben screams and takes a couple steps forward]
[Evil Laughter]
[Ben cannot push forward. The Force Lightning is too much]
[Grunts]
[Two hands slide up over top of Ben's as he holds the lightsabers crossed in front of him]
[Camera pans back as Ben looks over his shoulder]
[Rey is leaning on Ben for support. Her head gently resting on Ben's back]
REY: [to Ben] [softly] I've always believed in you and that you would do the right thing. I'm proud to finally take your hand.
[Ben takes a few steps forward]
[Ben screams]
[Force Lightning deflecting back and hitting Palpatine]
[Then, the sabers disintegrate Palpatine's [Darth Sidious'] body. Killing him] [Similar to movie]
[Sith disciples screaming]
[Ben drops the lightsabers. He quickly turns and catches Rey as she falls to the ground]
[Jannah Gasps]
C'AI: Poe, the command ship!
POE: Their fleet is stuck here! They're toast! Come on! Finn, you seeing this?!
AERIAL BATTLE AND SCENES REMAIN THE SAME AS IN THE MOVIE
[Ben cradles Rey]
[Rey's eyes are open, but she is not moving. Rey is dead]
BEN: [softly] Rey? [Gently touches Rey's face]
[Ben visibly upset. Holds Rey close. Emotional]
[Leia's body vanishes at the Resistance Base as Maz Kanata watches over her. Leia has become one with the Force]
[Ben senses his mother's passing]
BEN: [Overwhelmed] Mom? I don't know what to do…
LUKE: [voice only] [Ben cannot hear] I should go to him.
ANAKIN: [voice only] [Ben cannot hear] No son. These are his final steps. He needs to think he is alone. He's had voices in his head most of his life. People telling him what to do. Interfering. He needs to make this decision himself.
LUKE: [voice only] [Ben cannot hear] I will not abandon him in his time of need. He's in so much pain. Overwhelmed by sadness.
ANAKIN: [voice only] [Ben cannot hear] [Stern] Listen to your Father! Trust in Ben. He will make the right decision. Believe in him.
LUKE: [voice only] [Ben cannot hear] Yes Father.
[Ben looks at the Sith Throne]
[Ben looks back at Rey]
[Ben breathing heavily]
{Breath trembling]
BEN: [to Rey] I'm sorry it took me so long. I wish we had more time.
[Breathing deeply]
[Ben uses Force Healing to resurrect Rey]
REY: [softly] Ben.
[Both breathing shakily]
[the two embrace and kiss]
[Ben chuckles and smiles at Rey]
[Ben suddenly dies. His body goes limp in Rey's arms]
[Cries softly]
[Ben's body starts to vanish]
[A solid hand grabs onto Ben]
LUKE: Not yet.
[Ben remains solid]
[Rey shocked. Tears in her eyes]
REY: [to Luke] Master Skywalker? I don't understand what's going on.
LUKE: [to Rey] Ben gave his life so that you could live. He passed on his Life Force and will now become one with the Force.
REY: [crying] It's not fair. We just got him back. He finally had a chance to show how much good he has in him. He was only a child when this all started. He never had a chance to….. [Rey cannot finish]
LUKE: [to Rey] The Jedi teach to let go of our attachments and to rejoice for those who become one with the Force. There is meaning in this and reason…. but I think some of the teachings got misinterpreted. Sometimes our attachments can give us focus and strength. We just need to be careful, not to let our attachments control us.
[Luke lovingly looks at Ben]
LUKE: [to Rey] Will you tell him that I'm sorry and that I love him? He still has his demons and a long road before him. He will need guidance and most of all….. someone who believes in him.
REY: [to Luke] I don't understand.
LUKE: Twilight is upon me. I will not be able to return like this again. I may not be able to return at all. I don't know… Take care of each other.
[Luke passes his remaining Life Force to Ben, turning into a Force Ghost and dissipating in the process]
[Ben breaths in and opens his eyes]
[Ben sits up and looks at Rey]
BEN: [to Rey] What happened? How is this possible?
REY: [to Ben] Luke. Luke gave up his life for you.
[Ben looks down in sadness. Tears roll down his face]
[Throne room is crumbling around our heroes]
REY: [to Ben] We need to leave.
BEN: [to Rey] I cannot go with you. I have done too much. I'll never be accepted. Into exile I must go.
REY: [to Ben] Yes. I understand. In time perhaps things will be different.
[Rey takes Ben's hand]
REY: [to Ben] But you will not go alone. I know of a place you can go and I will come to meet you as soon as I can.
[Resistance celebrating their victory]
[Luke's X-Wing can be seen leaving the planet]
SCENES AND DIALOGUE THE SAME AS THE MOVIE UNTIL REY VISITS TATOOINE
EXT. TATOOINE – DESERT - LARS' HOMESTEAD – LATE DAY
[Rey descends the ramp of the landed Falcon and stares out at the desert terrain. R2-D2 slides down the ramp and towards Lars' moisture farm]
[Rey looks back up the ramp into the ship]
REY: [Yells] Padawan! Are you coming?
[Smiles]
[Ben appears at the top of the ramp]
[Annoyed look. Walks down towards Rey]
BEN: [to Rey] [Playful] You really love calling me that. Don't you? I still don't know if me coming was such a good idea. Especially with the droid.
[R2-D2 beeping sounds]
REY: [to Ben] I wanted you here with me for this and you can trust R2. He's well known for withholding important information he shouldn't.
[R2-D2 angry beeps. Annoyed]
BEN: [to Rey] I'm happy to be here. I truly am but I'm not ready for this. If it's ok, I'll just stay on the ship.
REY: [to Ben] I understand. Try not to steal the Falcon though.
[Ben makes a face at Rey]
REY: [to Ben] Oh I forgot something.
[Rey walks up and gently kisses Ben]
[Ben smiles at Rey]
[R2-D2 makes a long mocking bleep]
BEN: [to Rey] Would you get going already?
THE REST OF THE SCENE PLAYS OUT THE SAME AS IN THE MOVIE WITH R2-D2 ESCORTING REY AROUND THE LARS' HOMESTEAD, INSTEAD OF BB-8. REY CEREMONULOUSLY LAYS LUKE'S AND LEIA'S LIGHTSABERS TO REST. SHE IGNITES HER NEW LIGHTSABER, FASHIONED FROM HER QUARTERSTAFF, SHOWING OFF THE YELLOW BLADE. SHE RISES, EXTINGUISHING THE SABER, AND SEES AN ELDERLY WOMAN, WITH A GIRAFFELIKE CREATURE.
TATOOINE ELDER: There's been no one here for so long. Who are you?
REY: I'm Rey.
TATOOINE ELDER: Rey who?
[Rey looks past the elderly woman. Not sure what to say]
[Slowly the Force Ghost of Leia appears. She smiles at Rey]
[Another hand appears on Leia's shoulder and the Force Ghost of Luke walks around his sister and stands beside her. Arm now around his sister. Both smile at Rey]
[Rey smiles. A sense of rejoice on her face knowing Luke has become one with the Force]
[Rey looks back at the elderly woman]
REY: Rey Skywalker.
TATOOINE ELDER: [to Rey] Well it's nice to meet you Rey…. And the young man who came with you?
[Confused]
REY: [to Woman] [Stumbling] Oh. He's also a Skywalker.
TATOOINE ELDER: That's nice. Brother and Sister.
[Woman turns and leaves before Rey can correct her]
[Rey and R2-D2 return to the Falcon]
[Ben meets Rey at the bottom of the ramp]
BEN: [to Rey] How did it go?
REY: [to Ben] It went great. It was very therapeutic…. and yes, I seen them both.
BEN: [Excited] Luke as well? Good. There's still so much I need to say…
[Rey places her hand on Ben's chest]
REY: [to Ben] You will get your chance, in time. Besides he already knows.
[Ben nods and smiles]
REY: [to Ben] Oh. And there was this old woman as well. She must have seen the ship land.
BEN: [to Rey] [Concerned] Did she say anything?
REY: [to Ben] [Casually] No. Just asked who I was and who you were?
BEN: [to Rey] Isn't that bad?
REY: [to Ben] No it's ok. She thought we were Brother and Sister for some reason.
BEN: [to Rey] Uhh. What if she saw us kiss?
[Rey confused look]
REY: [to Ben] You know what? Let's just never speak of this again.
BEN: [to Rey] Agreed. Let's head back to Ahch-To and you can drop me off.
REY: [to Ben] We can… but I was thinking it's time to take you to Ilum.
[Ben thinking]
BEN: [to Rey] [Lovingly] I will follow you anywhere in the galaxy, Master.
[Rey smiles. They board the ship with R2-D2 coming up behind them]
[The Falcon takes off and flies up towards space]
[Camera pans back to the Lars' Homestead]
[The Force Ghosts of Luke and Yoda are sitting on some remnants of the Farm. Leia stands beside Luke and the Force Ghosts of Anakin and Obi-Wan stand behind them. They all watch the Falcon flying away]
LUKE: A new generation has begun. Our time has finally come to an end.
YODA: Yes. It has. But…. another there will be. A prophecy, yet untold.
LUKE: [to Yoda] Master Yoda? What are you talking about?
[A slow smile spreads across Leia's face]
LEIA: [softly] A grandchild.
[Anakin and Obi-Wan exchange glances]
LUKE: [Annoyed] Oh he doesn't know that. Don't encourage him!
[Yoda's iconic mischievous laughter. Camera quickly pans up into the sky and space]
YODA: Oh Master Skywalker. How I always miss you.
[The screen circle fades as the iconic Star Wars Theme music begins to play and the end credits roll]
Thank you for reading my alternate end script. I hope you enjoyed it. The Star Wars Fandom and Community has come up with and posted many great fan-made fictions and fan films. I wish I had the means or talent to do something like "DARTH MAUL: Apprentice", "Shards of the Past", "SC 38 Reimagined" or any of the other great fan films you can and should view on YouTube.
I truly enjoyed the Sequel Trilogy. J.J. Abraham, Rian Johnson, and Disney did a great job in my opinion. As did all the new and returning actors. The great thing about Star Wars is that there is always room for opinion, discussion, and debate. The only slight negative feeling I have is on how divided the fans were on the portrayal of Luke Skywalker, and if you believe the media, how it appeared Mark Hamill may have also felt this way. Whether Luke turned out to be the hero you always thought he was or wanted, Mr. Hamill is the true hero. The man is truly a treasure. His great work in voice overs, other media/film appearances, and how he genuinely treats his fans… is truly remarkable.
One last shout out to J.J. Abraham or whoever's idea it was to bring back my favorite character – Emperor Palpatine. Ian McDiarmid…. you should have got an Oscar at some point for portraying the Emperor. It's criminal. If only those critics and judges knew the true Power of the Dark Side.
