A/N: We are going to go a little bit backwards because someone wanted to see Amanda's tantrum mentioned in the previous story. Enjoy!
Olivia sighed. Amanda had started out in her arms sobbing and was now lying on the floor kicking and screaming in a full tantrum. Amanda's inner 'little' was tormented by the phone conversation she'd just had with her sister and she didn't know how to compete with all of the emotion inside of her so she did what she knew how to do and she screamed. Olivia hovered close by, but there was nothing to be done at the moment except let her little girl exhaust herself. However, that plan quickly flew out the window when Amanda reached for her sippy cup and hurled it angrily across the room, nearly smashing into the TV. Olivia scooped Amanda up and held her in a bear hug, gently restraining her.
"Not okay by a long shot, Mandy Grace Rollins-Benson!" Olivia scolded sternly.
Amanda tried to continue thrashing around, but realized that she was restrained and wasn't going anywhere, though she continued to scream and sob for a while. When she was finally no longer screaming, Olivia loosened her grip slightly and stroked Amanda's hair while Amanda sobbed against her.
"Mama!" Amanda sobbed.
"Mama's right here, little one. Come along, time-out for Mandy." Olivia said gently but sternly and guided Amanda toward the bedroom.
"No time-out!" Amanda whimpered.
"Yes, time-out. I am going to stay with you the whole time, but you are going to sit in time-out and think about why throwing things is a big no-no." Olivia explained. She would never leave Amanda alone in the corner given Amanda's fear of abandonment, but Amanda deserved consequences for her actions.
Olivia settled Amanda in the time-out chair facing the corner. True to her word, she stayed right behind Amanda the whole time, occasionally stroking her hair and reminding Amanda that she was still there. Amanda sat in the time-out chair staring at the wall and slowly calming down. It took about twenty minutes for Amanda to completely calm and then Olivia turned the chair around to face her, squatting down to Amanda's level, taking Amanda's hands in her own.
"Mandy, do you understand why Mama put you in time-out?"
"Yes, Mama. Because I threw my sippy cup and almost broke the TV." Amanda admitted sadly.
"I understand that you were having a hard time, baby. That's why Mama doesn't punish you for having tantrums because I understand that you have a lot of scary emotions inside you that sometimes just come pouring out. But throwing things like that is dangerous. If you throw things you could break something or you could seriously hurt someone else. Do you understand?"
"Yes, Mama."
"So you know what Mama has to do now, yes?"
"Spanking." Amanda's lower lip trembled as tears filled her deep blue eyes. Mama was extremely loving and patient and tender with her, but Mama was also very strict.
Olivia sat down on the bed, pulled down Amanda's pants and diaper, and guided Amanda across her lap. Amanda cried over Mama's lap while Mama spanked her bare bottom sharply. It always amazed her that Mama's gentle hand, the same hand that comforted her when she was scared and nursed her back to health when she was sick and tickled her in moments of playfulness, was also the hand that delivered such uncompromising pain when she was naughty. Amanda sobbed, her poor bottom red and sore. Finally, after what seemed like hours, it was over.
"Okay, sweetie, all done." Olivia cooed, gently helping Amanda up and into her arms.
Amanda sobbed on Mama's shoulder and clung to her for dear life as she was tenderly cuddled and rocked in Mama's arms. It had only been a hand spanking, but it was a very long spanking and very effective; Mama's hand was usually more than enough. Little Miss Mandy was certainly going to be on her best behavior for a good, long while.
"Mama, I'm s-s-sorrrrrryyyyyyyyyyy! Owieeeeeee!" Amanda sobbed.
"There, there. That's my good girl. My sweet baby. I know you're sorry, honey. It's all done, no more spanking. Everything is forgiven and you're still Mama's good girl. Mama loves you very much." Olivia cooed, tenderly kissing Amanda's temple and rubbing her heaving back.
Amanda's thumb made its way to her mouth. Olivia gently removed Amanda's thumb and replaced it with a pacifier, continuing to cuddle and soothe her tearful little girl. Amanda rested in Mama's arms and stared up at her with red, puffy eyes, sucking on the pacifier to provide further soothing while Mama continued to shower her with gentle words and tender kisses.
"Mama?" Amanda said as she laid on the bed with her pacifier in her hand while Mama gently rubbed her bottom with arnica.
"Yes, sweetheart?" Olivia smiled.
"Maybe 'big girl' Amanda does need to go to therapy." Amanda admitted quietly.
"Well, I will talk to 'big girl' Amanda about that the next time I see her. Mama thinks it's a very good idea, but it has to be her choice. Right now, let's get you into a fresh diaper and then we can go play with your puzzles."
"Erica wants to come too." Amanda stated, clutching the doll in her arms.
"Of course. Erica is always welcome." Olivia nodded and gently put Amanda in a fresh diaper. The softness of the material would help her be able to sit on her sore bottom with minimal discomfort.
Amanda sat on the floor with Mama's arms around her as they did several of her favorite puzzles.
"So, where do you think this piece goes?" Olivia asked.
"Right here." Amanda pointed.
"Right here, you say?" Olivia deliberately tried to put the puzzle piece in the wrong spot.
"No, Mama. Right here." Amanda giggled.
"Oh… you mean, right here." Again, Olivia tried to put the puzzle piece in the wrong spot. Amanda laughed.
"No! Right here!" Amanda giggled, guiding Mama's hand to the right spot.
"Ohhhhhh." Olivia smacked her palm on her forehead dramatically.
"Mama, you're silly." Amanda grinned as Mama kissed her temple.
"Very much so. Now, where do you think... this piece goes?"
That night, Olivia's eyes fluttered open when she felt the bed dip and automatically opened her arms to receive her beloved little girl. She glanced at the clock with tired eyes and, sure enough, it was a little after one thirty in the morning, right around the time that Amanda always crawled into bed with her. The little girl had her own bed in her own room and she usually started out there when Mama put her to bed unless she needed extra cuddles for some reason, but she never made it through a whole night in her own bed. Mama never made her go back to her room if she wanted to sleep in Mama's bed; Amanda was always welcome. Olivia kissed Amanda's forehead and gently patted her bottom to soothe her back to sleep, waiting to hear Amanda's breathing even out before falling back to sleep herself.
