Both infants crying echoed through the lower floor of the house as Sandy tried her best to comfort them both while Shadow gripped his knuckles tight in anger as he tried to eat his dinner. They were 6 months old and still screamed nonstop. He had told Sandy he wasn't cut out to be a father, but she had talked him into believing he could be, and thus her keeping the children that now infested their home.

Something snapped in Shadow's mind, and he bashed both of his fists on the table repeatedly. "Can't you shut them up?"

Sandy looked at him in shock, and horror, from the couch in the living area adjacent to him. "Shadow I'm tryin-"

"I'm done!" Shadow lashed out while pushing his plate off the table and letting it fall to the floor, and breaking. "I never wanted this. You forced it on me! It's your problem!" He then stood up and grabbed his wallet and keys before slamming the front door behind him.

Sandy looked on in shock as tears rolled down her face. The twin's colic had been very difficult and her postpartum depression didn't help. She had known he'd been upset since she became pregnant but after their boy and girl had been born, he had become silently enraged. He wasn't happy. She wasn't stupid. However, seeing him finally storm out the door; knocked her down further than she knew she could fall. She went into a full-on cry while trying to comfort her two little infants…. Alone.

Static knew it was risky to show up with Shadow at home, but his mind quickly found ease after seeing the hedgehog's car wasn't in the driveway. So, he parked his car on the street in front of the suburban home.

Static happily left his car while taking out his recent purchase, for Sandy's children, before closing the door with his foot, and then walking towards the front door whistling. The purple squirrel kicked the door in a knocking fashion while finding himself in a better mood than expected, but mainly due to the fact Sandy's husband wasn't at home. He waited for a minute before kick/knocking again. After a few more moments Static put the gifts down and tried the door knob to find it open and letting himself into the house.

Immediately he could hear Sandy's young children crying, but nothing else. Static walked into the living area, and saw Sandra sitting on the couch holding both of her young children as she looked at them hopelessly while crying silently.

"Sandy?" Static asked while running up to her side and taking a seat before placing his arm around her.

Sandy looked at Static almost like she was asleep before looking back to her crying babies. "He left." She spoke barely audible.

"Shadow?" Static questioned almost dumbfounded.

"He hates us." She stated in her tranced state.

"Sandy…" He tugged her closer to him while looking down with a smile at her kids. He always hated children but for some odd reason became won over by hers, perhaps it was because how happy they seemed to make her. "Shadow hates everyone, besides you guys." He then leaned his forehead against her in a move he knew fully well he shouldn't do, but the need to embrace her, and aid her, was far too overwhelming for him to deny.

Sandy looked at Static as her eyes continued to fill with tears, before looking at the mess Shadow had left in the kitchen. "He said he was done with us." She meekly stated before looking back towards her offspring.

Static glanced at the broken plant, and scattered food, on the kitchen floor before looking back at Sandy. He knew fully well Shadow wasn't adapting well to the family life just by seeing his moodiness from time to time but he had no idea he had gone this crazy.

Static pulled Sandy in for another light hug. He couldn't help but feeling a slight thrill at the fact that Shadow had finally broken. He had always known they weren't right for each other, but was unable to tell Sandy that…. He had to wait for her to see it herself, and now his time had come. He could now be the better man. "Come on."

Sandy looked at him confused with a side glance.

"Get some stuff for you and the kids together. All of you are coming to my house, and I don't want to hear an argument." Static then stood up and then walked over to pick up the twins' car seats. "Sounds like that spiky asshole needs some time to cool off and realizes what is important."

"Static, I don't-"

"Sandy!" Static interrupted. "You just told me your husband…" He sighed heavily. "Your HUSBAND… just said he was done with you and your children. You both need some time to sort things out so let me, your friend, help you." Static placed the car seats in front of Sandy and took her son and set him in it. "Let me take care of the kids while you get ready. I'll park my car a few blocks down and then drive your to my place."

They looked at each other in the eyes deeply. His expression became saddened to see how much pain she was in. He then placed one of his hands on hers. "Let me help you." He then squeezed her hand. "You're important." He whispered before taking her daughter out of her grasp and putting her in her car seat.

Sandy watched Static for a bit more playing with the children as they finally calmed down. She finally nodded and stood up to retrieve some belongings for their few day stay away from home.
