The Infinity Train: although it appears as a regular train on the outside, it is actually of seemingly infinite length. Inside of its many boxcars, practically anything conceivable can be found, whether it be puzzles, objects, or even entire worlds.
Passengers picked up by the train are processed through the Tape Car, where their memories are recorded on a videotape. They are then given a number engraved onto their right palm to track their progress through the train before being sent in a special pod to one of the cars. They are unable to leave the train until their number reaches zero, upon which a door leading them home will open. The train only appears to passengers when they are at a crossroads in their life, where they could go down one path or another.
Tokyo Station
It was raining hard over the station and it seems that there was no one around, well except for a young man who was sitting on the bench, getting drench, which it appears that he didn't care. That young man was known as Kyo Sohma of the Sohma family, a very old, powerful, influential, and wealthy family that values tradition and status. The Sohma family is very traditional and conservative, and most of the finances, conflicts and such are taken by the head of the family and those close to them. The Sohma family values tradition, wealth, and status over morals and ethics. They try to keep quiet about everything, especially one of the biggest secrets in the Sohma family: The Sohma Curse (Zodiac Curse).
The curse is a "bond" between God and thirteen members of the Zodiac. Those who are possessed transform into their respective animals if they are hugged by a person of the opposite sex, or if they are under a great deal of stress (such as exhaustion, sickness, or lack of breath).
This caused many problems for those who possessed a Zodiac spirit in the Sohma family, especially Kyo since he possesses the cat.
The Cat is the only member of the bonds who was intended to be cursed. Since the Cat rejected the idea of an eternal banquet and friendship, God and the other animals saw the Cat as rejecting and betraying them, even if his words came from a place of wisdom and kindness. This is why the Cat is punished for this in each rebirth. Not only does the Cat have a "true form", but they are also ostracized and isolated. The reason behind this is that the Cat fulfills the role of a scapegoat within the "bond"; he is discriminated against, disrespected, and locked up, a fate which the other Zodiacs won't have to suffer. So when they feel self-hatred and that the bond is a curse, they can look at the Cat and think "Thank God. At least I'm better off than that." It is also mentioned that despite how the Zodiacs acts towards the Cat, they feel superior to him deep down.
Kyo doesn't have much time left before graduation and with the pressure building up in him, he felt that it was too late and decided to isolate those who care for him, especially Tohru Honda, the one person who admires the cat. Feeling depressed, Kyo doesn't know what to do.
Then suddenly he heard a loud train whistle, which was odd because the train shouldn't be running at this hour. He looks in the direction the sound is coming from and that where he was a massive train coming towards the station. This caused Kyo to stand up as the mysterious train made a sudden stop right in front of him. As Kyo stares at it some more, the train's door begins to open, and what he saw caused his mouth to gape open a little bit and stare at it like he was hypnotized. Their standing right in front of him is a swirling green front with a flash of orange-yellow in the center. Like a moth to a light, Kyo couldn't help but move forward towards the door and as soon as his foot took the first step inside the train, his whole body begins to disappear inside the train and after a minute, Kyo and the train were nowhere to be found at the station.
Most people who enter the train can't survive on their own. That why most inhabitants of the train will not only help them make their way around but help them solve the personal problems that they have. Those inhabitants are known as Denizens. Denizens have the innate desire to help all of those who came across them. Under normal circumstances, Denizens will always help or try to make any passenger feel better. However, some Denizens may behave in an unhelpful or even hostile manner toward passengers. Denizens are not limited to their own cars and can travel across the train. One of that Denizen is known by many passengers as The Cat or a very few who knows her real name as Samantha.
Samantha was a traveling con artist and self-proclaimed entrepreneur. She is able to travel across the train cars in her personal shuttlecraft, attempting to sell seemingly useless items to the unsuspecting inhabitants in each car. She even owns and operates several cars on the train. Samantha has been on the train for at least 150 years. At one point she traveled with a young passenger named Simon Laurent for a few months, with the two becoming extremely close to the point that she told him her actual name of Samantha. They were separated when the pair were attacked by a Ghom in the Box Car. Fleeing from the creature, Samantha slid through a box and did not realize Simon was not with her until she was too far away. This causes her to feel guilty for not only abandoning her friend but not returning to him as well. But when she heard about Simon's death, she fell into a deep depression, crying to herself that it was all her fault for not being there in his time of need. After months of isolating herself in her car, she made a vow to help a passenger through his/her whole ordeal without a thought of abandoning him/her. To find a new passenger, she knows the very car to go to. After grooming her white ur and putting on her green, buttoned vest with a blue ascot, Samantha made her way to her shuttlecraft, activated it, and zoom her way out of her cart, and headed towards her destination.
Passenger Preparation Car
As Samantha found the car she was looking for, she hops out of her shuttlecraft and quietly made her way inside where she saw the newly reinstated One-One over at the Memory-Watching Machine, which was perfect for her as she can see what kind of person she'll be looking after. Making her way over a tall ledge so One-One couldn't see her, Samantha has a perfect view of the unconscious passenger, and the moments she got a good look at the body, she felt her whole body quiver at the sight of the orange hair boy with the slight blush on her face. She was so memorized that she didn't pay attention to his memories. As the porter finish taping his memories, it begins to hold up the sleeping passenger's right hand, palm up, and a towering machine in the ceiling lowers a green-tipped laser pen to graft a number into their palm. As the pod closes around him, ascending its way up towards the open hatch and exit the car, Samantha quickly exits the car and made her way back to her shuttlecraft, and followed the pod with the young man in it. Many questions form in her mind, but one thing is for sure is that she had to meet this person.
