Prologue
Across multiple worlds and multiple universes, people are going about their daily life. Whether they be human or otherwise. Some are happy to meet the new day. Some sigh as they get out of bed. And some don't even want to get up, deciding to sleep longer. Either way, this day was no different from any other day. Even in worlds where people experience extraordinary things, this day was shaping up to be quite normal.
And then came the towers.
In the middle of the air, overhead cities in multiple worlds appear these towers. They seem to be of an unknown origin. These towers had a tapered base as it was pointed like a top. Above the bottom of the structure, it jutted out before slowing thinning around the main body and then jutting out again just right at the top of the tower. What was really eye-catching was these four fin-like protrusions that protrude out of the top of the structure.
These towers were tall at heights of around 700m. They hovered above the cities with no visible propulsion. As if it was magic. And their color was that of the darkest night.
People were looking at the towers with copious amounts of emotions. Some were surprised. Others were in awe. A large part of them looked on with fear.
Before any action could be taken, something frightening happened. A loud continuous horn could be heard coming from the towers. As this carried on, the people near the constructs began to panic. Law enforcement had arrived to try and calm down the situation though even they were stupefied. The problem grew worse as people ran, causing more problems as now there was a stampede. The law enforcement tried their best to quickly defuse the situation. However, it quickly became clear that the stampede will soon overrun them.
As the military of various worlds began to mobilize, the horn thankfully stopped.
The people started to calm down as they began to look back. The towers hovered silently. Then another sound came. This time it sounded like the tapping of a microphone.
"Testing, testing, is this working?"
A gruff voice was heard coming from the towers.
"Everyone seems to be paying attention, so this means you guys can hear me. Good. Let's get started."
Throat clearing was heard then the speaker began.
"Now I know many of you are wondering what is happening now? Don't worry, your lovely commentator is here to explain everything."
Suddenly 4 screens popped into existence around the towers. On those screens displayed static. People using their phones were also shocked when their screen suddenly turn static too. Not only them but multiple devices were affected. Tablets, Computers, TV, even the sound of the radios turned into static. Then shockingly the same voice could be heard coming from all the devices being affected.
"All right, seeing as everyone speaks a different tongue from others, I have put up a universal translator. Now it's time." A deep breath is taken then the voice continued. "LADIES, GENTLEMEN, BOYS AND GIRLS AND SPECIES OF ALL DIFFERENT KINDS! I WELCOME YOU ALL TO THE EVER FIRST MULTIVERSE SURVIVAL GAME!" A recording of a cheering crowd was heard.
The public was silent, confusion on their faces.
"I can see you're all confused. Let me explain. Forces beyond your understanding; well to the normal masses they are, have decided to host a survival game with the participants from multiple universes in the event to see how will survive." The voice explained.
"However to make it interesting, we had to make the selection of participants… unique." The voice seemed to grin even though its face is not visible. "Across the multiverse, the hosts had decided to choose the descendants of relatively important individuals. Rejoice selected few, you get to see how powerful your genes are and how well your children react to danger." The voice cackled.
People were shocked at this act of cruelty, wondering about the fates of those children.
"And for those parents beginning to panic, if it soothes you, there is a way to end the game. There is a prize hidden in the arena. If one person manages to grab it, they win, and as such the children are allowed to return home." The voice reassured.
Smiles started to emerge from some of the public's faces.
"Those who remain alive, that is." The voice warns.
Those smiles were dashed away as quickly as they came.
"Finally, in the effort of making this more exciting, there will be special events that will occur to add a little spice to the game. Those events will either save your child or doom them, depending on who there are." The voice further elaborated.
"Today I would like to congratulate those who happen to be alive during this event. AS YOU'RE WITNESSING A HISTORICAL MOMENT RIGHT BEFORE YOUR EYES!" The voice with excitement in its voice began to rejoice. "THIS MOMENT MARKS THE BEGINNING OF AN GIFT, A GIFT OUR GRACIOUS HOSTS HAS GENEROUS BESTOWED UPON US LESSER!" The voice praised these beings of seemingly powerful proportions.
"SO LET US BEGIN THIS GAME. LET US SEE HOW FAR LEGACY CAN CARRY THESE CHILDREN!" Various individuals stared into those screens. "Or will it consume them, dooming them to failure?" Fists were clenched.
"I; your multiversal commentator, Draco Immortalem 22nd Digit of the 9 Order, brings you…" The voice named Draco pauses and takes a deep breath.
"MULTIVERSE: LEGACY!"
As Draco shouted this name to various worlds, the screens of both the towers and devices affected began to shift from static to color.
And with that, the game begins.
Author's Notes
Hello everybody. I, Immortal Dragon, have returned from my THOUSAND YEAR SLUMBER! (5 years actually, oof). It's being a long while since my last attempt. Anyway, this is my second attempt after my first failed attempt. Came up with the idea while daydreaming. It's a very ambitious idea. One that's going to require a lot of research to bring this story to its fullest potential.
Therefore I need help wherever I'm inaccurate so constructive criticism is appreciated.
See you all in the next chapter.
