This is the offering to Kadam Week 2016 prompt 5: Kadam TV

Since they started living together years ago, one of the points of content had been the television.

Or better yet what program to watch when catching an episode currently aired via cable...

Fact was that they both had very eclectic and ever changing schedules, the chances of watching something on TV while it was being aired were slim to say the least...

Adding to that that most of the times their favourites happened to be on competing channels aired at the same time, it didn't help the matter.

Adding to the picture two very competitive partners who made a game out of it, and loved the tease and be teased result the ongoing competition created… And the combination was perfect for weekly competitions about who earned the TV remote privileges...

The first time to see them in over competitive mode had been Rachel.

She got all worried because that first witnessed time it was a competition about looking the maddest, to the point one of their friends would actually come forward and say something...

It was sort of unfair to have third parties, but after the first few times when foul play had been called the first option had been to call an external referee...

Only they couldn't agree on one, calling the unfairness of having one of their friends who might side with one or the other depending on the choice, and that could be cause for more drama and more calls of foul play and favoritisms...

That might or might not have been because as soon as it was suggested both of them had secured bribes for the judge who first took the goodies and then unfold the plans, rendering null that week struggle...

So the brilliant idea was trying to make it seems like one of them was madder than the other, and arguing about some kind of nonsense until one of the two go called out on it...

They soon discovered that while it was a more impartial method it also brought into their home a lot more of unwanted intrusions just to check if they were really ok...

In fact Kurt moaned for the whole two months it took them to calm down their friends that nothing was really amiss...

While Adam had to work super hard to suppress any murderous instincts he discovered toward the bloody wanker, aka Kurt's ex, aka thorn inside Adam's side, aka Blaine Anderson.

Who, like the little opportunistic throat cutter leech of mainstreamer that he was, as soon as word of problems between Adam and Kurt started to become a rather veiled suspicion, not even yet a rumour, had started once again the campaign of serenades and gifts giving trying to buy his place back into Kurt's life.

With Kurt's permission, and their friends' help, Adam had managed to quickly dispose of most of the tacky rubbish, that the gelled hobbit thought was an appropriate gift to woe an ex, who despite rumours of possible problems, still was very much in a relationship with someone else...

Adam was totally not cool with such bullshit happening.

So he had gone to the source straight away, threatening to do unspeakable things to Blaine, should he dare to think of making a move on Adam's boyfriend...

In the end it took the good part of those two months, repeated and very publicly and humiliating refusal on Kurt's part.

And almost having sex on the table of Ms July's studio, the one that had many of such encounters on it, dragging behind them the whole rest of the Nyada's student body. That was what it took for the bloody wanker to get a clue and finally to take a step back...

Maybe it also helped that the Apples went into protective service once Adam and Kurt fessed up on what the 'fighting' was about...
Of course that did not happen until they had been repeatedly made fun of, and left every day for a week after everything finally settled, with the admonition of keeping their foreplay less public the next time...

Needless to say that they had to solve the 'TV issue' in another way...

So since their Apples were oh so helpful, in pointing out it could be considered foreplay, the next way the tv remote issue raised…

Well, they both made sure something else was raised as well, and all thoughts about the tv remote and whatever was their current favourite program happened to follow, were all happily discarded for more pressing matters...

Finn was the next one who stumbled into their bickering...

They were in DC for Thanksgiving, alternating holidays between the two families.

And of course even as guest Kurt kept their traditions up.

And Finn, bless his sweet innocent soul had asked candidly, very much confused why they were bickering if they had both went through the trouble of making sure the other's program was recorded...

Adam had said simply it was just foreplay, and something they did all the time at home...

Which prompted Finn to ask if they were planning to have sex in front of the tv there as well.

And if so to please let him know, so he could stay away and keep Carole and Burt out for that time as well…

Kurt flushed bright at that, finding it difficult to look at either man, on one hand he appreciated the easy, and a little surprising, support and acceptance...

On the other hand, Kurt really really really didn't need to discuss his sex life with his brother... Like he really really really didn't want to hear about neither his brother nor their parents' sex life in return...

Apparently the exposure to DC a little more liberal mindset compared to Lima, and their frequent visit to New York.

And the participation into quite few prides through the years, all that had made both Finn and Burt a lot more open minded than they were before.

Which in turn brought a layer of teasing Kurt never knew he had escaped all his life, not until it started happening so frequently and so freely.

All in all Kurt didn't mind most of the times. Except when he was this embarrassed and Adam just sat there and laughed, already more used to it all than Kurt would ever be.

It would take many more years, for Kurt to build that same thick skin Adam had about being teased in that manner…

But it wouldn't be until their own children were teenagers, that Kurt would truly start to enjoy that kind of teasing.

Once the table had turned, the torch was passed to the next generation.

Till the end of their life together, Kurt and Adam continued that constant pretended bickering about whose favourite program to watch.

Only for regularly ending up recording both.

And passing the evening cuddling and making out like there was no tomorrow…

Mostly because they had to learn early in life, that in the end there was no tomorrow.

There was only a limited amount of todays, and that each person had to make the best out of their lives.
