This tale will be more lighthearted and wholesome, with a little bit of comfort thrown in. Gotta show more of the positives about Sparky, and why he's a far better character compared to Chloe. But let's begin with the tale underway, so please enjoy, and don't forget to review, favorite, and follow!
~Beside You~
No Vicky and having the house all to himself was perfect. Timmy was taking advantage of his newfound me time, relaxing outside in the hammock with a fruity drink and Crimson Chin comic in hand. His parents were out doing who knows what, and his godparents were off protesting with Little Miss Perfect on protecting the polar ice caps and to stop global warming. A total snooze fest.
In a way, Timmy was happy the way things were. Tired of Cosmo and Wanda's apathy towards him, he decided to just let Chloe have em', they'd made their bed when they deserted him for lemon squares and gift certificates.
"Hey there, Timmy..." Sparky barked, flying into the backyard and landing right in front of the boy's hammock.
Sparky. His beloved fairy dog, his pet's presence brought a smile to the boy's face. While Cosmo and Wanda had left him behind, Sparky stayed by his side, loving and protecting him. His best friend made it clear when he revealed his magical nature to Vicky that night, his pet put everything on the line and threatened the demon to back off before he kills her.
Terrified, Vicky fled and told the Turners, she was done babysitting their son. They were oblivious to the fact their son had a magic fairy dog, though happy to be saving money, they decided Timmy's now old enough to stay home alone, though he wasn't alone, he had Sparky with him and they really could bring the house down. Sparky really was a party animal.
"How's my favorite mutt doing?" Timmy asked, extending his arms out for a hug and patting an empty spot on the hammock for his pet to join him.
Naturally, Sparky grinned at the chance to lay in the hammock with his best friend, but he wanted to show something cool he'd found first. "Great, but I ended up wrecking the car trying to chase after a squirrel, but I did find this wallet with fifty-three dollars in it! You wanna split the money?" Sparky asked.
Chuckling, Timmy rolled his eyes at his pet's random behavior, even with a license, Sparky couldn't resist catching them squirrels. "Sure. Could use it towards buying a new Crash Nebula game coming out." Timmy said, he wasn't going to pass on free money.
Neither of them were good at math, so Sparky poofs up a calculator to split the money. Timmy got twenty seven, while the fairy dog got twenty six. He decided to let Timmy have an extra dollar, his best friend deserved it more than him.
"So, Sparky, was the wallet with the money in it all you wanted to show me?" asked Timmy, he knew Sparky was a wiz at finding some of the most unusual things to find. His knack for digging and finding stuff was incredible.
"I did find this squeaky chew toy!" Sparky revealed, pulling out a rubber bone and chewing it, causing it to make a squeaking noise. "By the way, I also found this sweet fireman's hat and boomerang!" He added, putting on the fireman's hat and taking out the boomerang.
"That's a boomerang, Sparky. When you throw those, they're supposed to return." Timmy told his best friend. "Those apparently have ties to the supernatural or something. Don't really remember too much because it bored me to sleep."
"Really? Let's try it out!" Sparky barked, stretching his arm out and throwing the boomerang as hard as he could, watching the toy fly off.
Then, on cue, the boomerang flew through the air and came flying back at Sparky, who yelped and ducked before the toy could hit him. Timmy chuckled, reaching down to pet his best friend, with the toy planting in the grass.
"You know, you could've caught it in your mouth, right?" Timmy remarked, chuckling a little.
"Got a sweet dental plan, don't want to mess these teeth up!" Sparky barked, showing his teeth and making a big grin.
Man, Sparky could be such a trip, but it was part of what made the fairy dog so great and lovable. Timmy wouldn't trade that for anything in the world, though he was dumbfounded about his pet and what he could say. Maybe eating the dictionary was brain food to him.
"Well, grab it and hop in the hammock. I wanna have my favorite mutt beside me while chilling out." Timmy chimed in, he did enjoy anytime they were snuggled up together. Sparky was a treat to cuddle with.
"But what if I don't wanna and just want to lick you?" Sparky playfully grinned, crossing his arms and smirking.
"Aw, come on, don't be like that!" Timmy pouted.
Sparky laughed and walked over, grabbing the boomerang. He then flew over and climbed into the hammock, his hind legs wiggling as he pulled himself into it. Timmy helped by pulling him in. Sparky smiled and got comfortable, laying down beside his best friend and taking in the lovely day, closing his eyes and kicking his back paw cutely.
"Comfy, boy?" Timmy asked, putting an arm around Sparky.
Sparky smiled and kept his eyes closed, resting against his best friend and letting out a contented sigh. "You know what would make this better?" He asked, opening his eyes and licking his owner's face.
Laughing, Timmy playfully pushed Sparky back, wiping the drool off his face. "Chasing your tail around a fire hydrant or something?" Timmy questioned.
"We ought to get some pizza, Timmy! Let's work at a pizza place and order a pizza, then we take the car and deliver it here!" Sparky revealed his crazy idea, barking happily.
"Or we could just use the phone and have one delivered here." Timmy remarked, hugging Sparky close. "You're such a crazy, silly mutt, but you're my crazy, silly mutt."
Timmy wouldn't trade this for anything, Sparky's all he needed. Yeah, he loves the fairy dog, but it goes further than that. Sparky's not just his best friend, he's family. His best friend came through for him when nobody else would, he saved his life and he would never forget the dog's heroic act when he attacked Vicky and made her flee in terror.
"Well, sorry for trying to get us some pizza the fun way!" Sparky huffed, crossing his arms and turning away.
"Sparky, if we did that, it would mean more work and less fun, and I wanna spend as much of my free time with you." Timmy said, getting Sparky's attention and making the fairy dog turn back around to face him.
Hearing that got Sparky's ears to perk up. They're the best of friends already, yet hearing that remark made the fairy dog's heart melt knowing how much the boy yearned to spend time with him. None of his other owners ever wanted to spend much time with him, in fact, they were happier when he wasn't around. But Timmy's always happy whenever he's around, it made his eyes start to get a little teary eyed.
Sniffling, Sparky wiped the tears away quickly with his paws. Timmy took notice of his this and was worried he might've upset his pet, but Sparky surprised him by hugging him and licking him relentlessly. Squirming and laughing in the arms of his affectionate mutt, Timmy felt his hair and clothes get wet with dog drool, as Sparky laughs and licks him endlessly.
"Aw, come on, Sparky! I don't need another bath! Please!" Timmy whined, trying to wiggle out of the fairy dog's hold, but Sparky wasn't letting go.
"You're the most amazing and fantastic person ever, Timmy!" Sparky happily howled, barking with joy and wagging his star tail madly with excitement and love. "I'm so happy to call you my best friend!"
"Yeah, yeah, I love you too, Sparky! Come on, cut it out before I drown in dog drool!" Timmy complained, laughing and hugging Sparky back. By fairies, Sparky drooled like a maniac!
Sparky eventually let up on his affectionate attack, though he still decided to keep hugging the boy he loves. Wagging his star tail, he dried Timmy off the excess dog drool and slobber. Timmy smirked, picking the fairy dog up while keeping them in the hug, letting the fairy dog lay on top of him and pulling him in for a nice, long cuddle, rubbing the fairy dog's back, smiling down at his beloved pet.
"You're such a great dog. Those previous owners really missed out on getting to see what an amazing and wonderful companion you are, and I can't believe how lucky I am to have you in my life, Sparky. I, mean, I'm a boy who nobody understands, left to my own devices pretty much and widely ignored now that a certain goody two shoes has stolen the spotlight, but you stayed with me, Sparky. You didn't leave me for her, you chose to stay my dog." Timmy went on, continuing to pet Sparky.
"Just because they can be bought with lemon squares and gift certificates doesn't mean I'll dig holes in her yard." Sparky spoke, enjoying being held as he continued. "I'll bury any lemon squares she gives me. I'm your dog, not hers. You might be forced to share fairies with her, but she'll NEVER have me."
It was the truth. When Chloe tried to befriend Sparky, the fairy dog growled at her and lunged at her one time. She might be nice, but he's Timmy's dog. The buck-toothed kid in the pink hat adopted him, gave him a home, and loved him when nobody else would.
"If you weren't my fairy dog, I'd ask you to be my fairy godparent." Timmy replied, scratching Sparky behind his floppy, orange ears, inciting a happy growl from his best friend.
Sparky laughed and barked, licking Timmy's face and making a goofy expression. "Dogs can't adopt humans, Timmy. That's just nuts!" Sparky remarked, pulling away from the hug and nervously looking around. "But it's sweet of you to say."
"Sparky, I wasn't talking about that, I was referring to you being my new godparent!" Timmy corrected the fairy dog. He's such a crazy, silly mutt.
"That's silly, a dog can't be a fairy godparent. What would I be?" Sparky asked, nuzzling Timmy's cheek with his big, blue nose. "A fairy dogparent?"
It sounded ridiculous, but it probably wouldn't be too bad if he were in Sparky's care. Yeah, it would make no sense having an immortal fairy dog take care of his human owner, the idea alone sounded nuts. But still, Sparky came through and proved more dependable than his own parents, even feeding him whenever his mom and dad were too brain dead to feed him.
Speaking of nuts, they'd both done reckless actions. Sparky had revealed his magical nature and threatened Vicky's life, two offenses which would have gotten the fairy dog in trouble. And Timmy, when the dam had burst, despite knowing his pet can't die, he leapt into raging flood waters to save him. Sparky told him he was nuts for going in after him, but he didn't care, choosing to hug him instead and apologize.
"Say, Timmy, you still have the trick dice I got you?" asked Sparky.
Reaching into his shirt, Timmy pulled them out and to Sparky's surprise, he saw they'd been tied into a necklace. "Always keep it on me, it's kinda like a good luck charm for me and so a part of you will always be with me where I go." He revealed, letting Sparky sniff the necklace.
"Getting you as an owner is the luckiest thing to ever happen to me!" Sparky happily barked, cuddling up to Timmy and wagging his star tail. "Also, I don't know if I say this enough, but I love you, Timmy. You really are the best pet owner and made me the happiest dog ever!"
"I love you too, Sparky. You can still use em' to cheat at Shatzee, if you need to?" Timmy offered, but Sparky pushed the dice necklace away.
Sparky gave Timmy another friendly lick to his face, hugging him tightly. "You keep em', Timmy. I'll find another way to cheat at the game." He replied, licking him some more. "Anyway, I'm touched you treasure them and think of me. But I'll always be with you, Timmy."
Sparky thought back to when he was prepared to runaway, but not without doing a song first. Timmy had risked his life, risked possibly being pulled under and drowning to rescue him, despite the fact he couldn't die. He could never forget such a compassionate act, it solidified their bond. Even though it was nuts, he was touched by it and promised to always stand beside his best friend since then.
"You were nuts to jump in after me when there was that flood, but I'm happy you did for me." Sparky barked, getting comfy in the hammock and cuddling close to the boy.
"I could say the same thing about you when you attacked Vicky and saved me." Timmy countered, smirking as he knew where his pet was going. "But I think we're both nuts, but we both love each other too, right?"
"You're exactly right, Timmy!" Sparky beamed, sighing when he felt Timmy wrapping his arms around him.
"Even when I have nobody, you're still here, Sparky. You're still with me." Timmy whispered, wiping away some tears.
Sparky turned around to face his owner, wrapping his own arms around the child and returning the hug. "I love you so much, Timmy. I won't ever leave you. Even when you grow up, I'll still be with you. You won't ever be alone, I'll make sure of that. If anyone messes with you, you bet I'll be biting them! I'll stretch out to grab you and chase after anyone being mean to you, even if they scare the crud outta me." Sparky barked, hugging the child tighter.
"You'll even bite Chloe?" Timmy asked, a smirk on his face.
"I'll even leave her a nasty surprise in her house!" Sparky replied, barking with joy. "She can't have me. I don't care how many lemon squares and gift certificates she has, I'm your dog forever!"
"Thanks for saying that, Sparky." replied Timmy, running his hand along the fairy dog's muzzle.
Sparky smiled, feeling Timmy carefully hug him a little more. They remained in the hug, enjoying each other's company and basking in the moment, nothing mattered except for what was going on in this backward between the boy and dog, who were holding each other. Tears of happiness and love leaked from Sparky's eyes, he knew this was his forever home and that he and Timmy no matter what, will always be side by side.
Nothing will ever separate them.
The end.
