I've been wanting to do an Ocean's series AU for a while now, and finally got around to writing the first couple of chapters. I'm trying to find my motivation to work on my Beyblade fics, and decided to start on this and it's... kind of coming along great, actually? I'm surprising myself, not going to lie.

This fic is inspired by the Ocean's trilogy and Ocean's 8. There may be some dialogue from the movies themselves, just as a little honor to them :3 This fic is also heavily OC-centric, and actual characters won't show up until closer to the end of the fic.

So with that thought in mind, let's do this. I hope ya'll enjoy!

"Good afternoon, Ms. Blackheart,"

"Hi,"

"As you know, parole is a privilege. One of the restrictions any parolee must follow is to avoid contact with anyone with a criminal record. This would include several of your friends and a few of your extended family."

"Yep, yes, that would certainly be something that would need to be done, you're right,"

"Would this, in any way, pose as a challenge for you?"

"No, no I don't believe so. I never wanted that life, and my brother, uh… God bless him, wherever he is, he was a criminal. I loved him… I still love him, but he… he was a conman. It was in his blood."

"And it's not in yours?"

"No. No, ma'am. I fell in with the wrong crowd, and I'm woman enough to admit that I got caught up in my brother's schemes… I thought I was helping him, and just… I went too far. And… And if I were to be released, I, uh…"

A pause. A deep inhale, let out on a choked cry.

"Sorry, I… just saying that…" Another deep inhale, and Kuro's voice steadied, "If I were to be released, I would just want to return to the life I had before… before. Reopen my practice, help people, pay my bills… maybe meet someone and settle down. That's what I would do."

One month later, Kuro Blackheart was walking out of Oregon's Department of Corrections with fifty dollars in her pocket, the clothes on her back, and a free woman.

Tennessee in the summer at night was hot, muggy, and humid enough to frizz hair.

In other words, Kuro was in hell.

But she was here for a reason, and she wasn't going to let a little weather prevent her from getting what she wanted. Or, more accurately, who she wanted.

"Another win on an already long list of stellar wins for the Blonde Bullet," Kuro grinned as she came up on the other side of the black and green Dodge Challenger. "What type of engine you got in this thing, Christina?"

On the driver's side of the car, Christina Cadelle grinned at Kuro over the top of her beloved car, "It's a Hellcat, Kuro. No way in hell you could handle it, so don't even bother askin'."

Kuro met the blonde woman's gaze, her grin curling into a smirk, "Well, Christina, I'll take your word for it. But for now… what are you doing here, running races? Don't you have a two year long wait list for your skills?"

"Hah," Christina scoffed, flipping a lock of her long hair over her shoulder. "And nearly every one of them jobs would be a waste of my time. And if you're here to offer me a job, you better have a good reason to pull me in."

"I got a whole list of them,"

"Oh?"

"Yep. Nine hundred thirty-seven million and five hundred thousand of them, actually,"

Christina, who'd been taking a gulp out of her water bottle, choked. Kuro grinned, watching as her oldest friend proceeded to cough and sputter, wheezing for breath. Before the other woman could say anything though, there came a distant shout, an alarm going up as sirens reached their ears.

"Fuck," Christina swore. She looked at Kuro, barking, "Get in the goddamn car!"

Kuro obeyed without question, barely managing it into the passenger seat before Christina was shifting gears and slamming her foot to the accelerator, peeling out after all the other cars that were quickly pulling away from the abandoned speedway.

Forty-five minutes later, after taking numerous back roads and hairpin curves at terrifying speeds, Christina brought the two of them to a stop on a lookout overlooking a valley below. Kuro took a moment to regain her breath, having forgotten just how wicked Christina could be behind a wheel. Gingerly, she released her hold on the roof handle, and sat back in the passenger seat, giggling sharply as she did.

"By my count, Kuro, you just got out of prison," Christina said, turning in her seat to give the other woman a look. "What are you doin' here?"

"I thought I could offer you a job," Kuro replied, coyly.

"… What is the job?"

"I told you your cut."

"That doesn't tell me what I'd be doin',"

"What you do best, of course. Driving."

"Kuro," Christina glared at the black-haired woman. "Talk."

Kuro sighed and rolled her eyes. She didn't say anything for a few moments, frowning in thought, before she looked back at Christina, "How would you like to be a part in taking down Nemesis Inc.?"

Christina stared at Kuro.

And stared.

... and stared.

Kuro was beginning to wonder if she'd broken her friend, and eventually reached out to snap her fingers in front of the blonde's face. Christina jerked backwards, back slamming into the driver's door, and shook her head.

"Nemesis Inc.?! Are you crazy?!" Christina shouted, her accent bleeding into her words, "No one goes after Nemesis Inc.! They end up dead or worse! Not to mention, it'd take millions of dollars, years of work, and at least a dozen people—"

"Eight people, hundred thousand, and two months," Kuro interjected.

Christina paused, narrowed her eyes at the older woman. The lights from the radio and clock cast a blue glow over Kuro's skin, nearly causing her to glow. After a moment, she asked, "Why do you need to do this?"

Kuro grinned, "Because it's what I'm good at."

"… You know if you do this, you're crazy,"

"Yep,"

"And you're gonna need a crew as crazy as you are,"

"I came to you first,"

Christina regarded Kuro for another moment, then sat back in her seat with a sigh. A fond smile curled at the edges of her lips, "Alright then, darlin'. I'm in. Who else did you have in mind?"

"How do you feel about D.C.?"

"I hate it," Christina replied, primly, as she turned the key in the ignition. The engine roared to life, and she put it in drive, "What's in D.C.?"

Kuro smiled, all teeth and wicked promise, "The downfall of Nemesis Inc."
