Hi. Uh welcome to whatever this is. I just kinda had an idea and wrote away. It's technically an ending and maybe I'll write it backwards if I ever feel like it. Right now it's just a one shot. I was inspired greatly by Naruto's fight with Orochimaru in "House of Glass" by UrBoiPedro12. Check that story out. It's really cool. Also this is a story that involves femHaku. But don't get your hopes up.
Long story short Naruto had a worse childhood, he was better trained by Kakashi and met Jiraiya earlier. Blah blah blah, anyways, read away I guess.
This takes place in a side street in Konoha, just after Naruto and Gamabunta wake up Gaara.
Naruto drudged forward as Gaara slowly stood.
"How did you get so powerful!?"
"I've got people to protect! Friends I care about! If you threaten them again I'll kill you."
Unfortunately Gaara did not fear his power, it only served to fuel his bloodlust further. His hate was all he had, and he would never let go.
"I will not let you be my first defeat. I will not let you deny my existence." The Suna genin growled out.
"Just stop. You don't have to be this way, things can change. Your siblings care about you!" Naruto said. He wanted to stop this, he didn't want to kill Gaara. Just like he hadn't wanted to kill Haku. "I made friends and found people who care about me. I have no family, but I found others who could fill that void!"
"They're nothing to me. I'll have you blood. I don't want your petty redemption, or your outstretched friendship. We may be the same, but we are also blindingly different. Now fight me, or I'll slaughter everyone here."
"Gaara.." Naruto hissed, slamming his fist into the redhead's stomach. He was blown back by a fist of sand that broke at least two of his ribs. Gaara could definitely still fight.
"You can't win here, not unless you give your life, and even that might not be enough!" The psycho genin screamed.
"If that's what it takes then I don't care. I will defend my home." Another kick blocked by sand, but he noticed something.
"Can't you feel it? They're terrified of you." The Ichibi Jinchuriki spoke of the few hidden away onlookers. Another punch blocked, but Naruto noticed the sand dweller moved his hand to do so.
"Doesn't matter, I can't let you get away, you'll slaughter everyone here I care about. I'll die to stop that." He kicked, another block, a quick follow up punch also blocked with sand, but with both of Gaara's arms extended, he rammed his head into the king of the desert.
The indomitable monster had lost his sentient sand shield, presumably because Naruto had knocked the living shit out of the Ichibi with the help of Gamabunta.*
They stood apart from each other, another wound opened on their foreheads from Naruto's second head butt of the day. Gaara soon snarled and the heir to the Namikaze name took that queue to launch forward.
The onslaught that followed was incredible, blood and sand splashed everywhere, kunai cast haphazardly around the battlefield, along with shuriken, pieces of clothing, and the occasional chunk of flesh.
Faces flashed in his mind. Haku his lover. Iruka, his brother/father figure. Kakashi his sensei. Jiraiya his master, who was also almost a father to him. Sauske and Sakura, his friends. The rest of the Konoha genin, the Konohamaru corps. The Ichirakus, everyone he cared about, they'd all be slaughtered by this man. He could almost sense the Hokage finishing his fight. Everyone was occupied between that and the Oto and Suna forces outside the wall, no one could help him here.
The genin flew forward, but sand surrounded him. A quick well timed substitution with a clone made him safe once more, and the puff of smoke indicated another brush with death. He did notice however, the sand was slowing down. If he was honest with himself though, so was he.
He assaulted Garra from behind, the slightest hope that the clone distracted him. Sand burst from the man, his armor giving way to make a weapon. The spear ripped into the blond's chest, and Naruto wheezed from the loss of a lung. He managed to slap an explosive tag on the redhead's chest, and as he created space the enemy was rocked by a thunderous boom and launched down the street.
Red chakra emerged from the Jinchuriki, a roar boomed from his mind, the demon in his gut refusing to die with him. He flew into the fray once more, being ripped apart as he tore into Garra.
In a burst of speed the Kyuubi Jinchuriki appeared behind the Ichibi Jinchuriki. He received a spear of sand through his thigh, but the son of the Yondaime managed to ram a kunai into Gaara's shoulder blade and pry away with all his might. Before the redhead could pull away, he heard the sickening tear and the following scream as the shoulder ripped away from the Suna genin's body. Sand encased the Konoha genin's opposite arm, crushing the bone with a sickening sound. As they pulled away Naruto managed to rip the kunai through the rest of the flesh holding his fellow Jinchuriki's arm on, and it fell to the ground, discarded in battle.
Naruto's left arm hung limply from his side, and Gaara hissed in pain as sand covered the wound to stop the bleeding. The hole in Naruto's chest was covered in red chakra as the demon inside struggled to keep its host alive, the fear of dying pushed it to make miracles happen for the boy.
Both Jinchuriki now fought solely on their buji's chakra, drained of their own. Gaara now purely on his own with Shukaku asleep, and Naruto forcing back the Kyuubi's screams about not throwing his life away. The Fox was focused purely on self preservation, nothing it was doing was for the good of his host.
"Fuck it." The Uzumaki said, as he burst forth toward the redhead. Gaara smirked at the blond's mindless charge, he thought he was smarter than this, but his bloodlust had taken his judgement. Sand ripped through Naruto, Gaara even dropped his sand armor to create more spikes to kill the blond with. Naruto took them in stride, feeling them rip apart his body. The last one finally took him through the abdomen, and he was stopped mere inches from Gaara's face. He spat up blood into the redhead's eyes. The killer smirked as he wiped it away. "You lose Uzumaki" The Suna Jinchuriki laughed.
"I told you" he said through violent sucking coughs. "I'd take you… with me you son of a bitch." He pulled everything he could get from the Kyuubi, and formed a hot red Rasengan in his hand.
"No!" Gaara screamed as he forced the sand through the blonds abdomen further, widening the gaping hole. He even did something he hadn't in his entire career, he pulled a kunai, and slammed it sideways into Naruto's throat. The blond choked but never relented. He drove the Rasengan into Gaara's chest, and it ripped his ribs open and gutted the redhead. His blood spattered unto Naruto, bathing him in a vermilion red.
Naruto choked and sputtered on his own blood, as they stood alone only for a minute, still locked in the position they were in before a number of shinobi from Konoha surrounded them as Gaara's sand began to lose form. The rest of team seven and their plus one arrived just as the last of the sand gave way, and Kakashi flickered into existence behind Naruto, catching the choking blond as he fell.
"Naruto…" 'Minato-Sensei please not another one.'
Jiraiya arrived just in time to see Haku sprinting with everything she had up to the student and sensei. 'Minato… I've failed you again.'
"Naruto!" Haku screamed as she slid across the sand and blood covered ground on her knees to him. Kakashi held the boy lightly as he choked and coughed. Blood leaked from his neck, but no matter the damage, Naruto was still hard to kill. His shaky hand grasped at Haku, unable to get a grip though the blood. He pulled his hand back, and wiped it off on Kakashi since his own clothes were covered in blood. He already knew he was done, but he wanted to speak. He pointed at Jiraiya, and the man came forward quickly. He reached in the man's clothing, and pulled the Sannin's notebook into his hand. He set it on his leg, and shakily wrote with the pencil. 'I love you, always.' He held it out to Haku, who grasped his hand and read the note. Her tears streamed freely now. She spoke softly. "I love you too Naruto, please don't leave me here like this." He managed a small smile to his lover before he pointed at Kakashi, then Jiraiya. He held two fingers in front of his eyes, and pointed at Haku. They nodded in understanding.
Naruto had always expected to die alone. Possibly by his own hand, but more likely by someone else's. When he was younger, he never would have thought that someone would cry over his death. Seeing Haku's tears, and the slight wetness in the corner of Jiraiya and Kakashi's eyes gave him some happiness. He realized now as well, that he was surrounded by shinobi of Konoha. They were showing their respect by holding villagers back from him as his last moments came. He wasn't alone, and he'd achieved a few of his goals. Most of all, his life meant something. He had changed the lives of a decent amount of people, hell even an entire country. 'Heh, not bad. I had one bangin ass girlfriend too. God I'm gonna miss you Haku.'
Haku realized in full there was nothing they could do, even as the Kyuubi struggled and failed to heal his wounds as he lay dying. She swapped places with Kakashi pulling the blond's head into her lap. She sobbed as she lay her forehead on his, and he gasped and choked in response, while touching her cheek with a tender but shaking hand. He was fading fast, and the lack of oxygen did not help. He grabbed her hair as lightly as he could, and pulled her into a kiss, as she reveled in their last one, his hand fell limp, and his lips slowly went motionless. The wet choking and gasping noises ceased and his body fell silent.
The village followed suit, silence reigned over everyone present. Haku fully accepted what had just happened, and her wailing sobs broke said silence. The shrill, guttural screams that came from her small petite body pulled at the emotions deep inside the people around her. Her lungs strained, and made quiet sounds of stress that couldn't be heard over the sheer volume of her moans of anguish. Her small frame shook as tiny amounts of silence filled the area while her lungs fought to take in air. For almost fifteen consecutive minutes, no one moved, no one made a sound other than Haku. Not even the villagers who slowly filed in as the fighting was over now. Not that the surrounding shinobi would have let them. They understood what Naruto had done for the village, and they wouldn't let some villager disrespect his sacrifice.
*Gaara's sentient sand in this ain't got shit to do with his mum. Don't like it? Fight me. I'll die if it means I take your ass with me. I did my best to proofread this but sorry for any mistakes. Uh yeha I wrote this to help cope with some thoughts of suicide and I was also inspired. Hope you enjoyed. If you've read Namikaze's Lament and you're curious about that, uh I dunno. I might finish it one day, might not. Sorry okay well bye, thanks for reading. I'm too drunk to write a closing statement. Please do leave a review.
