Disclaimer: I do not own The Penguins of Madagascar or any of its characters. I do own Alex the penguin and the two younger kids, Sam and Ethan.
Glancing around the lair, Alex noticed that everyone seemed busy. She spotted the youngest of the team sitting in front of the television, watching his favorite show. She rolled her eyes, not understanding his love of those weird unicorns.
She turned her back on Private as she waddled over to the table where her father, Skipper, sat with Rico and her half-sister, Sam. When she got over to them, she saw that the male penguins while playing a card game, while Sam watched them. Usually Alex would ask to join, but right now, she didn't feel like it. Instead she looked at Skipper and asked him," Where's Kowalski?"
Her father looked up from his cards. "I think he's in his lab," Skipper replied, pointing a flipper toward the door. "Why?" he asked. "Did you need something?"
"Oh, no," Alex replied quickly. "I was just going to watch one of Jack's videos, and I thought he'd like to join me."
For the past few months, every time Alex watched a Youtube video, her boyfriend, Kowalski, would ask to join her. She was glad she finally found someone to watch her favorite Youtubers with. Her half-sister tries to watch the videos, but after Skipper saw a few himself, he refused to let Sam watch them, because of all the cursing and inappropriate things that happen in them. Still that doesn't stop Sam, and sometimes Alex lets her join her when everyone is out of the HQ.
As soon as Sam heard what her sister said, she instantly jumped to her feet. "Me too!" she begged, turning to Skipper.
Alex saw the leader shaking his head. "I don't think so," he said as he put his cards on the table. "You know you're too young to watch that Jack-guy's videos. Why don't you go watch the Lunacorns with Private?" he added and pointed to where the young penguin was still sitting in front of the TV.
Sam looked like she wanted to argue, but in the end, she just sighed and waddled over to sit beside Private. Alex noticed her sister glancing over her shoulder longingly, but the older penguin said nothing to her as she turned to her father again.
"Jack's videos aren't that bad," Alex tried to protest, but she felt the need to add," Okay, he does curse a lot and sometimes plays inappropriate games, but Sam is probably too young to even understand all that. Sometimes I don't even understand."
However, Skipper shook his head again. "Whether she can understand it or not," he stated," I don't want her exposed to that kind of junk. It's bad enough she hangs around that young lemur," he muttered as he picked up his cards again as if he was going to continue playing the game with Rico.
The psycho bird was just watching the father and daughter argue without making a sound. Alex noticed how uncomfortable Rico looked, so she decided to drop it. She didn't even want to try to convince her father that Ethan, the son of King Julien, wasn't a bad influence on Sam.
Instead, Alex turned her back on the two penguins at the table and started heading toward the lab. She opened the door and waddled inside, slamming it behind her to hopefully show her father how upset she was at the moment.
She sighed as she walked farther into the smaller room. She looked up just in time to see that her boyfriend was in front of her. If she hadn't noticed him, she would have ran right into him.
Alex took a step back from Kowalski as she dipped her head in greeting, but she said nothing.
"Is something wrong, honey?" he asked, the worry clear in his voice.
She wanted to spill out everything to him, about how angry she was at Skipper for not letting Sam watch Jacksepticeye's videos and then he only made her more upset when he added the huffy comment about Julien's son. But when she opened her beak to tell him all this, no words came out.
The concern in Kowalski's eyes vanished as a smile appeared on his face and he reached out for Alex's flipper. "Come on," he said as he pulled his girlfriend to the computer. "I know what would cheer you up." He flashed a kind smile at her when they stopped in front of the computer. "Jack should have another video up by now."
Alex nodded in agreement as she typed in one word in the tool box on the computer. A website she instantly recognized as Youtube popped up. She was about to punch in the letters of "Jacksepticeye", but she stopped herself and turned to Kowalski.
"Do you want to go to his channel?" she asked.
"Alright." Kowalski thought for a moment, and Alex hoped he remembered how to spell the word. She had taught him Jack's Youtube channel name, because they watched him almost every day now. But it was a tricky word to remember, especially to someone who doesn't yet know how to properly read.
We're getting there, though, she thought, grinning as the tall penguin typed in each letter into the search bar on Youtube. She patted his back and then moved the mouse over to click on Jack's channel. When his videos popped up, she was excited to see that he uploaded a short time ago.
She clicked on it and made it bigger, then sat back with her boyfriend to enjoy the video.
"Top of the mornin' to ya, laddies! My name is Jacksepticeye, and before we get into the video, I have an announcement."
Alex exchanged a curious look with Kowalski before they both turned back to the video. "A few months ago," the Irish Youtuber started," I went to New York with Mark and a few other friends."
Alex learned closer, heart racing with fear. The last time she saw Jack and Mark, they were heading toward the city after Kowalski turned them back into humans when Alex had accidentally turned them into penguins. Since they returned to their homes and started posting videos again, Jack hasn't said anything about what happened in New York.
Now Alex and Kowalski looked at each other worriedly. Was Jack about to tell his fans about his experience as a penguin? But he promised he wouldn't! she silently gasped. She wondered if the secret became too much for him to hideā¦
"While there, we met some really good friends," Jack went on. "I just wanted to tell you all that I won't be uploading for a few days because I'm going back to New York to visit those friends. And Mark is coming too," he added, giving the camera a knowing look, which confused Alex. Something about the look seemed odd...
"He's talking about us."
Alex jumped when Kowalski spoke. She almost forgot he was there. Turning to him, she said," You really think so?"
He nodded. "Jack and Mark are planning another vacation here, and by the sound of things, they are hoping to meet up with us again." He sighed and muttered," Skipper's not going to like this."
But Alex barely heard the last part. Excitement pulsed through her. She jumped to her feet and ran out of the lab. Everyone turned to look at her as she came to the middle of the room.
"Jack and Mark are coming back to New York!"
