Thank you.

This story is using the POV- You don't see color until you see your soulmate, the idea is from tik tok. Go check it out, it's really entertaining.

The year was 1944, a year before the world's favorite super soldier went into the ice. Carolina was a singer who traveled around different military bases performing with two other ladies, they were called the "Stars Spangled Songbirds" it wasn't the best name but it rhymed and that's all that mattered apparently.
Carolina had just finished her first two years of college, it wasn't super common for women to be going to school after high school but Carolina wasn't ready for marriage and a family of her own, she had a lot of livin to do.

Her other band mates? If that's what you would call them were two really lovely ladies, Emily and Claire.
Emily, 22, was this beautiful, tall, skinny, blonde hair, green eyed goddess. Men's jaws fell wherever she went.
Claire, 19, was also tall and beautiful, curly hair that she kept in tight victory rolls all the time and dark brown eyes that had specks of gold and when you looked into them you felt safe and warm.

Carolina, 23, wasn't as tall...but she held her own. Her blue eyes shined in the light like diamonds and she may not have been as skinny but she had curves in all the right places.

But you wouldn't know any of that unless you had met your soulmate.

Because in this world, you don't see color until you meet your soulmate and for Carolina, that hadn't happened yet.

Emily and Claire were both already married and their husbands were in the army. They both had met their soulmates early on, Emily was a cheerleader and her husband was the quarterback in highschool, who would've guessed they would end up together.
Claire met hers when she was a child, they knew they were soulmates but didn't start dating until Claire finished high school, mothers rules. All three of the ladies had been friends growing up, they never once made Carolina feel bad for not meeting her soulmate. The girls did what they could to describe colors to Carolina but how does one describe the calmness of blue? Or fiery warmth of red? Or the just pure happiness you feel when you see yellow? But they tried.

Now cut to the present day, March 13th, 1944 the Star Spangled Songbirds just arrived in the UK, they were 1 of the 5 acts there to boost morale and sing for the troops.

Emily was especially excited because they were going to see her husband's company. She could barely contain her excitement.

The trucks carrying the different acts finally pulled up to the camp where they would be staying. Emily's husband, Eddie stood at the front of the crowd waiting for her. The truck had barely stopped when Emily hopped out and left her girls behind, giggling at the pure excitement of their friend. She reached her husband and wrapped her arms tightly around him. Claire rolled her eyes and smiled at Carolina, "Have you ever seen a more picturesque couple? Looking like they jumped right out of the pictures."
Carolina had to admit they were a beautiful couple. The girls met up with their friend and greeted her husband and his friends.
Carolina couldn't help but look around, meeting the eyes of everyone she could. You never know who could be your soulmate. But alas nothing. There were plenty of handsome men in the crowd, plenty of men who wanted her attention but if they weren't her soulmate, she wasn't going to entertain their thoughts.

Carolina was polite but because she didn't have a ring on her finger like the others, a lot of men didn't stop flirting when she said no.

The night fell and the songbirds were in their tent, it was made of a thick canvas and had one opening in the front. They spent the next hour or so getting ready for their performance, they would sing some of the more famous war time songs and anything that was popular on the radio. Carolina was a hell of a performer, she could be singing to a crowd of thousands but for some reason you always felt like it was just for you. They have their army green dresses on, tight almost everywhere and a flower in their hair. They all have red lipstick on and black mascara.

"Ready ladies?" Emily asked, the girls had a pre show tradition where Emily asks, Claire replies "Are we ever?" and Carolina says "Well you better be because here we go..1"

"2" Emily said.
"3" Claire said.

Then they get on stage and start with the "Bugle boy from Company B" it's a fan favorite.
After the first song Carolina asks how the crowd is doing and there are numerous amounts of cheers and roars from the crowd.

Carolina scanned the crowd, nothing. No colors. She kept the smile on her face, it's not anyone's fault she hasn't found her soulmate yet.

Emily started on her solo song and you could hear in the crowd Eddie yelling, "That's my girl."

That made the crowd cheer louder. Emily blushed as she continued her song.
Claire and Carolina stood in the back as back up vocals.
Carolina spotted a handsome man moving his way towards the front of the crowd. It was dark and the lights were aimed on the women but she could make out his features slightly. His green dress uniform looked fresh and clean. His brown hair neatly combed back...wait green..brown...could she? Is he? No...she's got to be imagining it. But he looked right at her, the same way she looked at him. And he nodded. It was him. He saw colors and so did she.
They found each other.
